right now at noon they are heading to washington d.c. a group of new jersey state troopers, on our way to our nation's capitol at this hour, they will be helping with the security as our fourthivity president is sworn into office good afternoon everyone i'm jim donovan. i'm rahel solomon. president-elect donald trump will take oath of office on friday and troopers will be helping to keep inauguration ceremony safe. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan joins us live from the state police moorestown station with more, good afternoon, cleve. >> reporter: good afternoon,

rahel. it doesens of state troopers wearing their casual clothing as they got ready to take a three hour bus ride, down to washington d.c., to become part of history. with the profession and personal gear for four days, new jersey state troopers pack up for a special mission to washington tc but they will be helping to provide security at president-elect trump's inauguration. >> we don't have our specific assignment yet, we will be given that upon our arrival in d.c. >> reporter: at least 25 groups after replied to the national park service for permits, and security forces expect a record number of protest groups. experts redick more than a million people will be at nation's capitol and more than a third will be protesters. security forces will be about 30,000, strong, with more than 3,000 officers coming there police departments throughout the country. that includes, ocean city, somers point, atlantic it the i, hid will township and wildwood and new jersey state police. they will call upon crowd control operations like the

everybody still trying to find the other kid. >> reporter: five-year old boy was found by neighbors badly injured and unresponsive. >> i ran to the baby and i said, i looked down at her to see what i could do for her and i looked and knew there was nothing i could do. >> reporter: sanders was rushed to an area hospital where she remains in critical condition. >> the doggies still chasing like everybody, there was nothing we could do because they just kept coming back. >> reporter: police quickly responded to the shooting and injuring one of the one dogs suspected in the the attack. >> some kid, ran back to the scene and tried to pull the dogs off the children that were injured. >> police arrested owner of the dog, cameron tucker charging him with two counts of reckless endangerment. two pit bull mixes are in the custody of animal control while investigators determine if a third dog was involved in the attack. demarco morgan, cbs news, new york. philadelphia has top spot on the national list but it isn't kind of thing we should

back on "eyewitness news" severe flooding caused by torrential rain has left parts of the texas under water, in houston loan authorities say they made more than 60 water rescues overnight and schools are also closed and officials are telling drivers to stay off of the roadways but area is not in the clear just yet. forecasters say parts of the state could see more severe weather today. this sort of looks like your average construction project, right, but this seven story, sinkhole in callus a giant sinkhole. the it opened up a week ago and continues to get wider each day. officials blame a broken drainage pipe that will cause the city two and a half million-dollar to fix. >> pricey. another sinkhole, near

atlanta, georgia, the hole swallowed this 55,000-pound truck. it drove down the road in the town of oak wood yesterday. the driver fortunately is okay , truck was carrying 1600 gallons of water which workers must pump out, before lifting the truck, out of that gaping hole. well, central italy is reeling from a series of strong earthquakes, three magnitude .5 earthquakes hit an area west of rome in the span of an hour. italian officials say it appears no one was killed but it was a difficult day for italy. this same area suffered catastrophic losses dooring a series of deadly earthquakes last year. seventeen catholic charities appeal is underway launched this morning by philadelphia archbishop charles chaput. >> this is the single largest annual fund raising event ever , in the church, and it is a success that is crucial, and so it is absolutely crucial to our ability to serve those who come to us, for help and that

inspired apparently alligator fans. florida officials say crowd have people of shown up this lakeland florida's circle b bar hoping for a glimpse of the gator and one bolted off path looking for it. officials say they don't want to put down the alligator especially if someone is doing something they should not. public is asked to steer clear of the giant alligator. poor thing looks like he has got arthritis, moving awfully slow there but my grandmother had arthritis but if you need to move fast, she would. leave the poor alligator alone >> is what name, hunch back. >> he is just minding his business. >> can't we just leave him alone. >> if he eats you, oh, well. >> yeah, that is how it goes. >> dope i people. >> but it is true, he has been in his habitat, let him be. >> leave him alone. >> i can understand the draw because it is fascinate to go watch that video but, you know , watch the video.

>> safety of your home. >> bingo. >> exactly. >> hi, katie. >> let's switch gears. i have a lot of very warm weather to tell but here. we're expecting temperatures in the 50's in the next couple of days, the entire seven take is above average by a really good amount of degrees no less but we have several systems that will work through bringing with them additional rain. we can see all of them, on the the satellite and radar right now. but lets start off by talking about snow. nothing is heading our way, jim, i know you almost spit your coffee out on that one. >> okay, all right. >> deep breath, what we have even so far, this winter, it is kind of whimpy. so far we have had 5.2 inches for winter of 2016 to 2017 thus far. the seasonal average for the entire season is two 2.4 inches. we got a bulk of that if you will recall that late january snowstorm, that hit us last year. so, i'm not saying we have anything down the pipeline right now, that is obviously

coming our way with snow. there is nothing out there just yet but there is plenty of time. even though we have gotten off to a slow start and it does look like weather will stay mild to wrap up month of january, fear not there is very likely at some point going to be potential for snow down the road. looking at storm scan no snow. most of the sprinkles are off to the southwest, delaware, new jersey still getting hit with fine drizzle out there. this system toss this is want to let go. storm that brought in the rain obviously yesterday and intensifying as it departed. it is part of the reason moisture wraps around. here's next storm system that will be lift nothing with time , by friday, it moves in our region more in a second and then next one, pummeling western united states, again, that will also, cross the you had, head our way, for second half of the weekend. of course we have an inauguration coming up here on friday and just some interesting climate information, what i think is so interesting is that ronald reagan had not only coldest inauguration ceremony, but he had warmest one too. back in 1985, it was 7 degrees

with a wind chill of 20 below zero. tar cry there that. this year, but we are going to come close to warmest inauguration ever. now the temperature outlook from this point forward is much below average on the west coast, here it the is very likely to remain above average and there is just a reason that we continue to see pattern to support that. for now outside middletown ship high school we have gray skies. we have not seen too much sunshine but we should see a little bit of it before the day is all said and done. currently 44 with a modest breeze. the rest of the region we are looking mild, already as well, 46 at philly international and we are expecting to moderate up into the lower to mid 50's before it the is all said and done but might find a little bit of left over drizzle or little bit of fog but this is something tapering off and winding down with time. the partly cloudy skies tonight as high pressure finally takes the lead, doesn't last very long but it is here at least through tomorrow and early friday. tomorrow looks like a gem as we have been saying. would i say make an excuse to
