good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. just before noon today, donald trump will be sworn in as this count country's 45th president. he's promised america unity and change and last night he refl t reflected on his campaign calling it a movement he's never seen before. kenneth craig on the transition of power. good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. the president-elect will be waking up in washington on a day people thought they'd never saw coming but in just a few hours he'll take the oath of office. with his wife melania by his side he was at a black tie dinner in washington joking about rain in the forecast. >> if it really pours, it's oklahoma because people will realize it's my real hair and

that's oklahoma. >> and predicting a second term. >> four years from now we're going to win because we did so well. >> earlier mr. trump joined thousand at the lincoln memorial where he previewed the theme of his inaugural address. >> he's aiming for a compact speech lasting less than 20 minutes. >> when they know what they're going to say, they don't need to dress it up? he'll deliver that address in a packed morning including a traditional church service and coffee with the obamas. while officials say there's no specific or credible threat against the convenient, 31,000 law enforcement officers along with 5,000 national guardsmen will be on the ground, in the air, and patrolling rivers.

"the new york times" reports that investigators are studying intercepted messages between russian officials and associates of president-elect trump. sources say it includes paul manafort and two campaign officials who have done business in russia. it's not known if the communications had any connection to trump campaign or russian efforts to disrupt the election. the "washington post" reports president obama commuted the sentences of 330 federal prisons on his last full day in office. most of the inmates were convicted of nonviolent drug offenses. mr. obama reduced 715 sentences

during his tenure, more than any other president. "the indianapolis star" reports that mike pence will place his hand on ronald reagans bible today when he's sworn in as president. he chose justice clarence thomas to administer the rocket. he said reagan inspired him as a youth to leave the democratic party. cosmopolitan says a co-owner is helping to finance workers who want to go to the women's march. she said she would pay for two night's hotel stays and kick in $200 for airfare. at least two dozen accepted her offer. the big apple's competing tab employeds have the big day.
