evening. >> reporter: good evening, ukee. wind has died down a bit since yesterday and it is a beautiful unset to the south here, but when you look in that direction you will also see damage to the down here, it took a pounding over past few days. this is price you pay for protecting the island. wave after wave the nor'easter took a heavy toll on north wildwood's beach. >> it is a shame, hopefully they will fix it up and we come down here and stay over there. >> reporter: these dunes were leveled a year ago in the winter storm that built up to protect road and homes and they are nearly gone gone. city officials will to have start over. >> it is not so much here about a beach about protecting our infrastructure. we are mobilizing, under an emergency contract, a crew will be here in the next couple days with heavy off road equipment, starting to hoff sand in wildwood and fill in here again. >> reporter: it could cost

a.m. high tide, so for people coming home there work or get to drive around tonight around shore it will be better, then this morning. reporting live from north wildwood i'm cleve bryan for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". what a picture behind you there, thank you. clean up from yesterday's damaging nor'easter is underway further inland. greg argos joins us from haddonfield where homeowners are picking up the pieces, greg. >> reporter: take a look at the this scene at this home in haddonfield, the strong wind last night blowing over a tree , a huge tree, which has been since removed and end is ago this tree crashing into this home. home owner says it happened around 7:00 last night as wind gust ted at more than 60 miles per hour. incredibly the home owner, who only want to go by his first name and his wife, were inside very room the tree destroyed. their bedroom when they heard cracking and snapping, and new something was about to hit. they ran in, and they ran out.

the weather center with more what we can expect now after the storm, kate. >> yeah, thanks jessica. most of it is out of here and we have improving weather on the way through the week but as you can see new england taking the brunt of that storm , still seeing strong gusty wind and a mess over maine with a wintry mix, snow to the north, heavy rain along the the coast and whipping wind as well in the canadian maritime province. as far as we're concern scattered showers around back edge of that low. we did see sun trying to break out in a couple sots west of the city earlier today but now showers have reloaded and we do actually have some snow and freezing rain still up through poconos but you can see showers on and off throughout the day with the heaviest over ocean county here this evening , and every place else you may need flip windshield wipers if you are out and about tonight. that is it. recapping our rainfall amounts from the storm, manasquan came in with 2.31. lakewood, new jersey 2.06. chats worth 1.94. atlantic city almost 2 inches. this was a big rain maker in

it has been a wet stretch as well. we have had tons of rain yesterday. today we are still dealing with scattered showers in the wake of that nor'easter but everything is starting to slow willly move out, we have got decent weather to look forward to here's what is going on right now. we will go out to our brand new cameras. lets go out to our new camera at parkway central will library and this gives us a great shot of the center city, we're panning area looking for sunset in the sky but they are winning out on that front today but this will be a great one to show you sunset, logan circle, franklin institute whole 9-yard thank you to the parkway central library for that camera mounted on the roof and traffic lots of taillights heading out right now looking west. look up to the poconos where we have got lots of cloud cover in burnville, this is, berks county, junior/senior school berks county right in the pocono region. we have had scattered showers today. temperatures in bernville 37 degrees. still warm enough we are in the dealing with snow or ice there but heading up in the higher elevations of the

on the healthwatch tonight , cancer death rate have declined over the past 34 years, according to a sweeping new study but it also found that americans in certain struggling parts of the country are dying there cancer at increasing rates. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here with details on this new research. >> mixed bag of research here. this was county by county analysis of deadly cancer dating back to 1980, more than 19 million people have died from cancer, since then. this study showed that survival depend on where you live and is related to social and economic factors. better cancer screenings and treatments are credited with saving lives, and new study says natalie overall death rate there cancer went down about 20 percent, since 1980.
