5:28 pm
with uploads as fast as downloads, their half house has full internet. cable only offers upload speeds that are a fraction of their downloads. now you might think it's a little odd that the wilsons have a half house, but they think it's a little odd to pay for uploads that aren't up to speed. get 150 meg internet with equal uploads and downloads, tv and phone for only $79.99 per month online for one year. cable can't offer speeds this fast at a price this good. only fios can.

5:31 pm
>> this new high school will be a place that is not only where you learn but where you socialize. there will be things that will be able to happen here you will be really proud of and proud to participate in. >> reporter: christie's school visit happened at the same time president trump met with other republicans 30 miles away from philadelphia, with no cabinet appointment some question the state of their highly publicized friendship. >> governor does being here today mean turning down an opportunity to be with president trump. >> no, why judge why to you ask that? this is where i am, my job. >> reporter: what their events had in common were protesters. >> community, and teacher, tea cry christie's proposed changes to the funding formula which will cut aid to urban district in favor of giving every school district a state the same amount of aid per student. >> we will not stand by while he taps our student at the back and he picks their pocket >> will we cut 07 percent of our teaching staff, close 70 percent of our buildings? >> reporter: during his hour with students governor christie did not make any mention of the school funding
5:32 pm
formula plan which democrats have reject, on friday, a special commit thee to discuss school funding will meet at king's way high school n trenton i'm cleve bryan, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". the first poll gauging president trump's job a rolfe rating is out, quinnipiac university poll taken between inauguration day and yesterday , shows 36 percent of americans, voters approve, of the president's job performance. and 44 percent disapprove of the way president trump has handling the job. 20 percent had no opinion. now i want to show you live picture from center city protests continue outside g.o.p. congressional retreat, and following the visit of president trump today, you're looking right now at intersection of 11th and market streets, and our ohio holden tells us that so far police report no arrests and no citations. and take a look at this traffic helps, you can see yellow, shows slow traffic near market street because of those protests, if you are heading to center city or

waiting for someone just ab wear there is still a lot of activity there. republican law makers in congress continue to meet here in philadelphia, and hash out their agenda and to take president trump weighed in on what the priorities will be. dom giordano of our sister station talk radio wpht is joining us now from the retreat in center city to talk more about what happened today and president trump, dom, thanks so much for being with us. i want to talk about those job approval ratings, first because that is 36 percent of americans voters a roof, 36 percent approval rating, what do you think on that? >> well, i think he is a very controversial figure, we know that but i can tell thaw 46 percent is engaged by and large, the base of it, that is what he is asking, and his job approval, as a president is going to be determined by whether he brings jobs back, whether he keeps america safe. all this other stuff, all of the distractions and all might
5:34 pm
be a bit entertaining but ultimately that is going to be the core of whether people support him or not, particularly after the first 100 days. they have to see movement on these things, otherwise, this other stuff will be tiresome. >> let's talk about the border wall with mexico. we get news that mexican president has cancelled his trip to washington. the president says that he is moving forward with the border wall. people in his own party senator lindsey graham is saying, and they also talk about perhaps putting a 20 percent tariff on mexican imports as a way to say it. senator graham says this could be a huge barrier to economic growth. how do they come to grips with all this and make it work in a way like you say to grow jobs and grow the economy. >> well, i think we have seen some of the things he has done already, jessica, around keeping jobs in this country. that will be his focus. i'm not a big fan of the tariffs, i'm in the sure if that is what he will do around
5:35 pm
tariffs but the other day trump said he wants to cut about 75 percent of the regulations we have vis-a-vis the federal government, i think he will be talk down there that a little bit but i think trump will have difficulty convincing some of the republicans, to be as radical as he would be in cutting taxes and regulations but that is his formula. lust he sees himself and i think with some reason as a great negotiator. i often have vincente fox, the former president of mexico, he is adamant that mexico will not pay for that wall. we will see down the road what trump does to negotiate with them around that. >> and quickly before we let you go you are there where the retreat is happening, and what is this sense you get as we watched kind of throughout the day of the relationship between g.o.p. congressional members and the president. >> well, i think the relationship is, decent right now, at this point because if
5:36 pm
trump goes to twit era lot of these republicans are afraid of that. acid test will be when we come up on affordable care act and what he wants and what they want and that, jessica will give us a sense of which one will bend more but as far as i can tell paul ryan and president trump are doing much better in their relationship. i don't think it is as distant as it was at various points during the campaign. >> dom giordano thanks so much as always, we appreciate you. >> thanks, jessica, thank you. recovery effort for victims of the italy's deadly avalanche is complete. final death toll stand at 29 after a week of search effort at an italian hotel. nine people were pulled out alive in the first days of the rescue, two others escape. authorities say that autopsies on the first six bodies showed most died from the initial physical trauma, of the hotel, collapsing. art instructor at william car's mississippi took this
