5:30 am
>> live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. and parts of the area are in for a messy monday commute. mobile three checking the roads in south jersey where winter weather advisory is in effect. this is our photo journalist, thank you. katie, meisha will have up a date. >> good morning, i'm rahel solomon. >> i'm jim donovan. right out to katie right now, check on the forecast. so katie i didn't see anything outside when i was getting into my car this morning. >> yes, looked like the roads were just wet. >> yes, even right now, i am not seeing a single flake out here on the cbs-3 skydeck. certainly we are finding it in some locations, but behind me, yes, there is virtually nothing. even if we do see couple of
5:31 am
flakes, it will be pretty few and far between in the city specifically. but go far enough south, even south of i-95, see totally different story unfold here. take a look at storm scan3. that really telling that story pretty well right now. as you can see, right there, across southern new jersey, central southern delaware, we do still have some pretty decent snow currently falling. let me zoom it out one time. see this in its entirety. yes, pretty wimpy looking system. it does again have very light to moderate snow with it, and with that said, as had mentioned, we do have winter weather advisory to tell you about. that's specific to delaware and southern new jersey, so that will go until noontime today. where we ends up seeing anywhere from say one to 3 inches of snowfall. but i would likely think that we will be on the lower end that far in most locations here. and as i mention, here in philadelphia, i think we will be luck if i we even see flake at this point, just the way this ended up spanning out. so here is the general expectation, your bullet points, series of snow, mainly delaware, southern new jersey,
5:32 am
one-three, accumulation. slippery morning drive for those folks. but from philly on north, sounds like you don't got to worry about it, just seeing clouds and eventually that too will break for some sunshine. so allentown, heck, even portions every montgomery, chester counties, you'll get gipped out of this one. you will have your chance down the road here. yes, little foreshadowing for the seven day. 44 degrees the temperature right now at philadelphia international airport. colder by comparison by few degrees anyway in wilmington, millville, atlantic city, and it is snowing in all of those parts right now, maybe not wilmington, but millville, atlantic city, you're finding snow currently finding at least a chance to stick to untreated surfaces special limit as the day progresses cold january day, as we wrap up the month on chill nerve note. with those morning flakes, very possible here in philadelphia, more than anything, quiet day. snow, though, at the shore this morning, as we mention, general one to 3 inches is the expectation, so, a minor shoveling event, more than anything, meisha. but any time we have even light snow, it messes with the
5:33 am
drive for sure. >> it absolutely does. actually seeing some salting going on out there because of that, so we will get to that in just a moment. good morning, happy monday. what are we looking at? looking at the schuylkill right here, looking at both directions both moving eastbound and westbound directions. heating up as we can expect it will right around the 5:30 mark, same story, 95 at cottman, both moving in the southbound and northbound side. also look being like heating up little bit. to the censor map, behind it, see all green for the most part anywhere we look this morning, still traveling at posted speeds. we do have an accident here in pottstown, charlotte street, at school lane, just heads up for those of in you that neck of the woods. also, burlington bristol opening at 5:40, an alternate to the delaware river bridge, can slow you down just little bit. we know both alternates for the delaware river bridge will be very busy. what we were talking about, it is out there, especially around these areas. a.c. expressway eastbound, between route 73, black horse
5:34 am
pike, where we have something going on. another area where we have something going on, garden state parkway northbound between cape may and a.c. expressway. take a look at this also, you also have the speed restriction in play, down to 45 miles per hour, so got to be very slick around the areas. if i were you i would add maybe little bit more extra time to the commute. maybe extra 15, 20 minutes right now. but then we move into the 6:00 hour, push obviously toward the 7:00 you'll have to give yourself probably more time around there. then heads up, regional rails, running new schedules, make sure to check the schedules on line, plus construction to talk b we will talk about that coming up in the next few minutes or so. back to you. >> thank you. suspect in police custody following mass shooting at a mosque in canada. >> at least 66 killed, eight others injured, when two men dress in the black enter the house of worship and open fire. the shooting happen late last night at quebec city islamic cultural center. more than 40 people were in the mosque at the time. stay with "eyewitness news" as we follow this developing

southern counties, observations up to the north, coal r where clearer, but it is clear, that said, so i want to jump on down here, we start things first energy delaware, 32 degrees the temperature from jason. he's currently reporting just overcast over the last half hour. so did say there is dusting on grassy areas. nothing on the paved surfaces becoming definitely more of minor issue, but still enough that i want you to slow it down out there. also, worth a mention, new castle county just across the river counties in the winter weather advisory, just got canceled for you. it remains in effect for the rest of the region. further to the south we go. thirty-one comes in from john carol, he too finding overcast very light winds if any out in mullica hill. then the one sweet spot we do have little bit of snow, key word little bit here, william powell, still reporting snow in woodbine. and he said that right now got about a half inch. as we mentioned, general expectation one to 3 inches locally of the snowfall on storm scan, we do have snow still falling, somewhat steadily across sussex county

but even here in philly you know what we've been on snowflake patrol all morning long here on the cbs-3 skydeck. haven't found one flake yet. i don't think we will see much because of the way it is getting through, and the track so critical. that makes or breaks you sometimes. but, we are going to continue to deal with this for the next few hours, i want to zoom it all the way out to show the next disturbance, next alberta clipper. originating in alberta canada. what these systems tends to do is dip across the us, bring with it very light moisture, and bring with them reinforcing cold. that's exactly what this looks like it will be doing. so while we ends up with a little bit of maybe some light rain or snow out there tomorrow, by the way, this is through the rest of today, this is way too over done, but i want to show you what happens tomorrow. take a look. tomorrow we may ends up with more after coating up in some of the northern counties from that next disturbance. as we look forward here, coldest stretch comes along thursday into saturday. that cold air may actually even set the stage for another system sunday, still just

5:52 am
down to 45 miles per hour. another area where it is also proving to be very slick, where we have more salting going on, is the a.c. expressway, eastbound, between route 73 and black horse pike. so couple of those areas, i would absolutely factor little bit more time in your plan. plus regional rail patco speed line running new schedules, make sure to check those on line walking out the door. >> thanks so much. new miss universe is crowned. >> see who it is and where she is
