another accident new jersey turnpike, on ramp to route 206 , head up we have a couple things coming up on to our maps. jim, back over to you. well, we are following breaking news this morning as authorities in new castle county's james t vaughn correctional center continue to negotiate release of hostages held by inmates. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live in smyrna where situation is still happening right now, trang, good morning, what can you tell us. >> reporter: good morning, yes , very tense here as inmates have two prison staff members hostage, they released two correctional officers yesterday, overnight 14 inmates were also released from that building and they are being held, elsewhere on this facility. but look at this video we shot yesterday over this scene here this all started just after 10:30 a.m. when inmates took four prison staff members hostage this building c in the james t vaughn correctional center in smyrna. two correctional officers were released and treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

governor john carney was here last night and state the police negotiators have been in contact with inmates via radio. on phone calls to a local paper the news journal inmates demanded education and rehabilitation rams and more humane treatment. meanwhile delaware secretary of the home land security says officials are not making any promises, until all of the hostages are released. >> once this matter is resolved, safely then that will be the time to talk. inmates want to talk about conditions, privileges, those types of things, yes, that die looking can take place but none of that starts until we have safe return of our staff. >> we are told 82 inmates remain inside building c, it is in the clear whether they are there voluntarily or being held begins their will. also overnight we have learned that a number of groups are planning to hold a rally here outside the the prison in support of the inmates, that is going on at 10:00 a.m. some people are coming as far away as baltimore to attend this.

for now we are live in smyrna, delaware i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". jim and rahel, back to you. inmates inside of the vaughn correctional center made contact with the outside world, even as hostage situation unfolded. >> inn hates were patched through news journal newspaper in wilmington. the here's part of one of the call. inmates called for prisoner education and rehabilitation as trang just mentioned the call you just heard and other calls, were turned over to police. the vaughn correctional center is largest facility for men in the the state of delaware. it opened up in 1971 and house s 2500 inn hates from minimum to maximum security. including the state's death row. in 2004 an inmate raped a counselor and held her hostage for almost seven hours, that standoff ended when a sharp

the statute of limitations that victim declined to prosecute saying the memories are too painful to relive. meantime new details are surfacing as delaware county teacher is investigated for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a female student. authorities say 28 year-old nina scott the met the teenager at the village school in radnor township and contrary toy initial beliefs police are saying that some of the alleged incidents, did occur, on school property. we're told relationship lasted from february until october of last year. scott now faces a slew of charges including institutional sexual assault of a minor. and investigators do not believe that tuesday's fatal house fire in bensalem was suspicious. tire fighters battled these massive flames at the a home in the 2200 block of byberry road. nine two-year old julia, died after being rescued from a first floor bedroom. a man who was able to escape the the house is in critical condition. large piles of the belongings inside the home complicated fire fighting efforts, the causes not yet known. well, classes will go on
