>> meanwhile, 120 inmates in a delaware prison are now sus pick. that's after chaotic stand-off lasting nearly hours, left a correctional officer dead. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do; live in the cbs-3 news center this morning. trang, now awaiting his autopsy results. right? >> reporter: yes, jan, at this point we do know not know sergeant's cause every death but we know he died a hero, sacrificing his life to protect other is all a part of who he was. law enforcement from across delaware took part in the procession of the body of fallen corrections officer, sergeant steven floyd thursday it started at the james t vaughn correctional center in smyrna, and ended at the medical examiners office. choking back tears, president of the correctional officers association of delaware described floyd as devoted husband, father, and grand grandfather. >> sergeant floyd was a great man. i knew him very women. he was a very passionate man.

carried very much about officers, cared very much about his family. >> after a 18 hour stand-off with inmates, inside vaughn, officers used back hoe to break you there prison walls just after 5:00 a.m. he found sergeant floyd, one of four hostages initially taken unresponsive. linda greg ri, floyd's next-door neighbor, was -- >> i was hoping it wasn't him. i was looking every day, well, in the morning, just to see if his truck was there. so i didn't see his truck there so i'm lining like oh, no. >> said floyd's death was preventable, pointed at long standing issues of shortages, over time ... said trouble had been brewing at the prison for some time. >> we have saw these issues, and we had absolutely no system from previous governor.
