live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs3 "eyewitness news" they were peaceful but marched with a purpose. protesters once again fill the streets of philadelphia. to demonstrate against not only president trump but vice president pence as well. >> it was quite a campaign.

but it's already been quite an administration. >> am i right? >> the vice president visited philadelphia speaking to a group on independence mall and also visiting the liberty bell. good evening, i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us. while the vice president was reserving philadelphia, demonstrators were here chanting holding signs. we have team 3 coverage, alexandria hoff has more. let's go to cleve bryan live on independence mall. cleve? >> things are now getting back to normal in center city where thomas payne plaza where the second of two protests that really morphed into one took place. the march for humanity and people who wanted to protest against vice president pence as he came to speak to the federalist society. some chants and sign wanted

tailored specifically to the vice president pence. other messages were for his boss. (chanting) >> and the vice president spoke near independent mall. hundreds gathered to protest issues related to president trump's administration. some of the topics included the travel ban and penalties for sanctuary cities >> there's a lot of immigrants and the feeling down there is tense. and so i'm just out here to stand up for rights. >> we're all immigrants except for the indianas and we should not be fighting j. market street was temporarily shut down as protesters peacefully marched. some brought along their protest as philadelphia police provided save passage. that group joined a bigger crowd at thomas payne plaza. lifting their voices and signs

president pence came to meet with the philadelphia chapter of the federalist society. there he told members to the president's supreme court court pick will join the highest court one way or another. >> arriving to the city ahead of schedule, vice president pence took the opportunity to visit the liberty bell, the trip he said he was not able to complete went in town for the gop retreat late last month. at noon, vice president pence was welcome by members of the philadelphia federalist society. he began with the nod to the nation's founding principles. >> where anybody can be anybody, because of the system of liberty that we have end shrined in the constitution in the founding documents of this nation >> the president's supreme court pick kneel gorsuch >> several announce their opposition within minutes of his nomination. and now they're threatening to use the fill buster procedure in the senate to stop him. >> reporter: and act that the

vice president called unprecedented and unwise. >> never before in the history of our country has an associate justice nominee to the supreme court face add successful fill buster. and judge neil m gorsuch should not be the first. >> reporter: at least one democrat senator has pledged to block the nomination. pence said gorsuch met with 12 senators from both sides of the aisle and seeks to meet with all 100. reporting live in stat center, alexandria hoff cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> thank you so much. meantime the department of homeland security is no longer ordering airlines to stop visa holders from countries affected by the travel ban from flying to the united states. last night, a federal judge ordered a temporary stop to president trump's executive order. correspond windy gilette picks up the story. >> reporter: travelers from seven muslim dominated countries can travel to the united states

after a federal court judge in washington issued a restraining order on president trump's executive order that banned their entry >> it's not the loudest voice that prevails in a courtroom. it's the constitution. >> state department spokesman says up to 60,000 foreigns who whose visas were cancelled had that action reversed be the the it's unclear for those who were physically cancelled. a federal judge appointed by george w bush. the opinion of the so-called judge which essentially takes law enforcement away from our country is ridiculous and will be overturned. when a country is no longer able to say who can and who cannot come in and out, especial for reasons of safety and security, big trouble. as the affected travelers once again resumed flying to international airports, including here to jfk airport in new york city remains unclear how long the judge's order will hold. >> the department of justice says it will seek an emergency

stay of the order. saturday afternoon protesters marched in washington demanding an end to the travel ban. tens of thousands packed the streets of london, some carrying sign that is read fight ignorance not immigrants, wendy gilette cbs3 "eyewitness news." stay with us as we track equipments in the travel ban, you can get the latest on cbsphilly.com. new details in the investigation into the deadly prison standoff at james t vaughn correctional center in smyrna, delaware state police say they have wrapped up their investigation in building c. that's the location of the inmate uprising. and it has been turned back over to the delaware department of corrections, steven floyd died in the standoff. one of four prison staff members taken hostage by inmates. surviving hostage spoke at a vigil attended by floyd's family last night. >>

>> very emotional time there. police say the investigation into the uprising and 20-hour standoff is expected to be quite lengthy. the pennsylvania gaming control board slapped the casino with a $25,000 fine for serving a gambler 27 drinks in a nine-hour period. at mt. airy casino resort in monroe county in october. the customer was playing tabletop slot machines at the bar when he was served. investigators found the customer showing signs of intoxication after nine drinks. the casino fired the three bartenders who served that man. a cold start to the weekend but lauren, our sunday is looking warmer? >> we're going to warm things up significantly on the order of about ten degrees and we do have 50's in store but it's going to come with a side of rain and wind and i'll have the details on the strong mid week storm

tomorrow houston hosts super bowl 51 and as you can imagine, security is rammed up across the city. cbs correspond shows us, this year it's different. . >> reporter: we have about 100 seats that bring in public safety, law enforcement fire and transportation partners under one roof >> inside the emergency management center, francisco sanchez showed us where 60 local state and federal agencies coordinate >> you will see a heavy law enforcement presence, you will also know there will be law enforcement that you won't see. >> on the street, houston police the lead agency giving the public a different look. less obvious presence, more hidden help. >> helicopters are still a near constant presence in the sky. but on the ground, you do not see lines of combat put fatigues

and assault rifles. security has changed because technology and houston have too. 13 years ago, the last time houston hosted, there was only a small light rail system. that has been citizened dramatically. stretching houston out. forcing police to cover more ground. tom lambert, co of harris county said volunteers >> there are additional eyes and ears, if they see something that is not in line with how we operate to make sure they notify the metro police and we'll coordinator that with the misunderstood police and all other partners >> it's a longer event. the security plan this time covers ten days, not four. means paying attention to cameras and what's happening on line more than ever before. >> one of the things we do have to watch closely is the unsanction events, note pop-up events happening in mid town or downtown, clubs pop up overnight, big parties hosted, that's inevitably a part of

he heading out. hitting up super bowl parties. guacamoles. temperature right now, they're chilly take a live look at center city philadelphia, we're at 34. temperatures struggled today. we did not make it out of the 30's. west wind up around 10 miles an hour making it feel like 26. it was a shivering start to the day. we dropped to 22 degrees. coldest morning in philadelphia. since january 10th, not used to feeling these temperatures and we're back down into the 20's in the lehigh valley, 28 degrees. 21 in mount pocono. sub freezing in millville at the freezing mark in atlantic city. do have a bit of a breeze some locations around five, ten, miles per hour, going to trend as we head throughout the overnight. cold breeze staying with us, windchill temperatures in the 20's in most cases into the loan teens right now in the poconos. we are getting a dose of some arctic air you can see the arctic air entrenched off to the

north and west. could be worse, windchill temperature in winnipeg down at six below right now. we're going to shift this arctic air out as we have a secondary air mass moving in and we are seeing clouds starting to move in as well, stormscan 3 showing us cloud deck increasing after a sunny day today, but not much moisture up wind we will keep conditions dry tomorrow, but relyish the sunshine today, even though it was chilly. since december, december 1st, we've had five, including today, sunny days in philadelphia. 36 partly cloudy day and 24 overcast days. overnight tonight, cloud deck increasing cold breeze 26 degrees, tomorrow, much improvement in the temperature department rising above average up to 46 degrees, cloud especially in the morning. we will see sunshine as we head into the afternoon, tomorrow will be a quiet day, storm system up to our north and west could bring a few snow showers

towards the poconos, quiet conditions for our sunday as we head into monday, quiet as well as we're kind of in between storm systems and temperatures will start to warm up with the approach of this warm front that will be lifting in as we head throughout the day tuesday. conversely it is bringing along a storm system and a pretty hearty chance of rain as we head to tuesday and early wednesday, this will be a slow moving storm system, a mild storm system, not concern with the possibility of frozen precipitation, just periods of rain, but we will have strong gusty winds, high temperatures mild but you won't be able to get out because of the rain coming down and the blustery conditions. for tomorrow, mix of sun and clouds, at the shore, in the temperature department, 34 with passing snow showers in the poconos, and monday, not bad february day up to 46 trees, not too chilly, but start at 32, mostly sunny conditions. periods of rain on tuesday, breezy conditions picking up. rainfall pretty light throughout the day tuesday, we could see
