into the early afternoon, fresh batch of steady rain, not just there but basically everywhere. forty-one the current temperature at the airport, further south you go, yes, it is mild. low 50's currently in both wildwood and dover. and as we go forward in time here today, it will be a very, again, very mild afternoon. we flirt with 60, guys, at the shore, in the city, very limited sunshine, but you will also again have some rain to deal with, mainly midday, so meisha, i don't know about you, but it feels like good day to order lunch in. what do you think? >> absolutely i am with you there. no one can argue that. looking at 422, taillights moving in the eastbound direction. turnpike. looking okay. you can see, how busy it is starting to get here on 422. also the schuylkill, same story here. schuylkill taillights moving in the eastbound direction, conshohocken curve, starting to build levels there, as well, we can expect it on a tuesday morning, very busy, one of the busier travel days. we crack into 5:30, pushing torld the 6:00 when we start to see things change little bit. seeing that on 422 and the

schuylkill. want to pull your attention, vehicle fire in mt. laurel, 295 northbound past 38. two right lanes blocked. so three lane highway. only one lane is squeezing by. and this is the time where it will start to slow you down. take a look at this picture, you get the idea how busy this area s with the vehicle fire, a lot of light going on, there you're all looking at the gaper delay, even if we didn't have the congestion levels, so if you can avoid this area altogether, i would do so right now, let you know. rahel, jim, back to you. >> thank you, staying with the septa story, septa pulls close to 100 rail cars off its market frankford line after inspector makes alarming discovery. >> cracks found in the event boxings of 58 cars, two led to even bigger problem. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at 69th street terminal with more on how the transit authority is handling the issue. morning, trang. >> reporter: well, good morning, jim, rahel. for the time being, express lanes are not running during rush hour.

septa is also having supplemental shuttle buses at certain stations with overflows toward particularly 52nd street as well as girard. meantime it appears that commuters are handling this inconvenience pretty well. the market frankford line is no operating with about 100 fewer cars. over the weekends, septa mechanics found two rail cars tracking the body bolster, major support beam on the under side of the car. >> thank god again we caught something and safety has been preserved. and it is not a situation of investigating an accident. >> that led to inspection of the entire fleet revealing 58 cars with cracks near the event box area, not as truck, but enough to pull them for further inc inspection. because the rail cars work in pairs, septa also to take additional cars without issues out of service. >> where we have 144, bare minimum to run our normal peak, and yet we have 218

cars. we're in a much better situation than if this had happened on any of our other fleets. >> septa is performing tests to determine how these cracks developed and ultimately come up with a fix. septa reported no major issues on yesterday's morning or afternoon commute. they say that the crowds lighter likely due to people staying up later to the superbowl. but today expecting crowded trains. live from the 69th street station, trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news," jim, rahel, back to you. >> thanks for the update, trang. new this morning, two families without a home after this fire in philadelphia's harrowgate neighborhood. shows flames shooting from the rowhouse on the 3500 block of jasper street. now the homeowner did manage to escape the flames, but not able to save the two dokes. family of six also escaped from neighboring home. cause of the fire is under investigation. well the time now 5:36. in business news this morning, what the schuylkill market of the future could look like.

>> and why lower demand is helping gas prices. money watch's jill wagner joins us live from the new york stock exchange, good morning, jill. >> reporter: good morning, jim, rahel. futures right now pointing to bit of higher open. invest remembers waiting for more earnings today from disney for example before the opening bell. yesterday the dow fell 19-point. the nasdaq dropped three. americans are using less gas, new numbers show demand for january at its lowest level in four years, triple a says that's helping stabilize prices at the gas pump right now. national average is 2.27 a gallon. that's about the same as last week. tyson being investigated for fixing chicken prices, shares of tyson foods fell after the company disclosed it received subpoena from the ftc. tyson working with 20 other chicken producers like purdue, pilgrim pride torntion keep chicken prices high. and amazon future supermarket, has just hands full of human workers, amazon recently

cuts. he's asking law makers to impose an extraction tax to help erase a budget shortfall. also wants to save money by merging four state agencies into a new department of health and human services. also seeking more money for public schools. >> well, the former trump taj mahal casino in atlantic city is up for sale. billionaire investor carl icahn blames a bill that would have pun irbled him for closing the taj by stripping the casino license for the property for five years. governor chris christie vetoed t carl icahn closed the taj in october after members of a hotel and restaurant workers union went on strike. well, bucks county man is behind bars this morning for child sex abuse crimes that investigators say date back as far as 40 years. police arrested 58 year old william thomas of falls township. he is charged with rape of at least five young children and possession of child pornography. police say detectives found 1,000 pairs of children's underwear while searching the suspect's home. authorities say thomas could cod

face life in prison. >> this man was a trophy collector and creator of monumental proportion. he was a historian. he historically reported all of his con consequences. >> authorities fear there could be even more victims. they ask anyone who may have had contact with the suspect to call falls township police. >> in other news, bizarre joy ride of a cab in rittenhouse square, all caught on camera. this is just plane crazy. eyewitness video shows the end of the ride at 18th and walnut. police say it started at 20th and locust, when half naked man jumped into the cab. developers say the man robbed the cab driver, then stole the taxi after the driver got out to help a female passenger. >> this guy came barreling through the park going about 60 miles an hour, all we hear is scraping, and he was trying, in a taxi, trying to run everybody over. and as soon as we saw him, everyone jumped into the bushes.

brought in little icing across some of the northern most counties, like the poconos, up in northampton county, as well. you can see the heavier batch working its way in across ohio, that's what's going to be listing in our region in the next couple of hours, late morning, early afternoon. meanwhile we check in with the eyewitness weather watchers, i've seen for the most part very mild air. start things offer by taking you way up north, offer the map here, so far north, 33 comes in this morning from keith. now, he has been reporting some drizzle here within the last half hour. he did say that nothing had actually frozen, where he is. but yet, i still want you to be careful out on the roadways, and certainly i'm sure penndot, new jersey dot, travel along i80 has done their part to make sure the roads are ready. i don't want you to take that for granted. meanwhile 39 degrees this morning from kenneth. he has more clouds than anything out in willingboro, just the one more, i have to zero in on, reports out in the cherry hill area. denny hopefully, yes, denny reports 43 degrees, plenty of clouds. also a picture from yesterday, wasn't that an absolutely stellar afternoon?

i love this shot. beautiful blue skies. and geese flying in the pack here, this one came until from ed connor: back to the maps. advance at the scene. take a look at future weather. all the way to wednesday night. that's when things get interesting. still some question marks that far out as to what happens with this developing storm system. it is going to rapidly intensify as it rolls in, good timing. comes with the coldest part of the day. overnight. it does look like with the cold air, just funneling into our region, it will help any rain turn over to snow. here are the question marks, though. the grounds is really warm. how long does this last? where does the actual rain-snow line set up? very important factors as how much snow we will actually see out of this. my gut tells me at least modest accumulation on the order of inch or two maybe several. but, southeast pa has the best chance to see the accumulation right now. and here is evolving forecast, graphics, gives you the bullet points. we go from the six 60s to the 30's, just like that. so that's a big part of why
