12:20 pm
we will see this, how much, really intensify, by the time it reaches us, and it is joining us perfectly with the cold air that's going to support the kind of snow expectation that is we currently have. let's look at future radar with the temperature on top of this. so we have a mixture, that is coming in, basically from i95 on south. notice the temperature profile. two to 5:00 a.m., we expect the action to get underway. it is going to start off as straight up snow. from wilmington, up to trenton, points northwest of that. you will get underway, pretty early on with the snow. but it is a mixture to start things off here. around southern new castle county, across the delaware bay, northeastern ocean, totals less, to get that snowfall. regardless, a mess for everyone, by 10:00, 11:00, the back edge of this starting to push through, everyone cold enough to support the snow. so all get some accumulation, at least, some of you ask heck of a lot more than other, but wait for. that will meanwhile into the second half of the day probably even see sunshine, the problem; the wind picks up, probably have to deal with
12:21 pm
refreezing even if the roads have been plowed, so there is going to be some clean up to do in the evening drive, no picnic either. but really the morning rush is where it is at. when it comes to the bulk of the precipitation coming down in the form of heavy wet snow, eight to 12 inches, bulls eye, western montgomery, upper becomes, eastern lehigh valley, eastern poconos, and out through north jersey. if you travel to new york city this is rough ride. i try to work from home if you can here. four to 8 inches, not much better across philadelphia, so i guarantee we will see a lot of school closings out of this, southeastern p a and into central new jersey. it is more like coating to two, though, where you have got more of the rain mixing in, so, again, the toll as really drop off as go southeast of i95 here. but keep in mind, this is snow that is heavy and wet. great for snowballs, horrible when it comes to clean up. still, clinic to branches, power lines, possibly bringing some of them down. and even though the roads will initially respond really well to the treatment that the penndot crews are out doing right now, intense snowfall rate of one to 2 inches per
12:22 pm
hour will cause this to patch up and pile up. snow will win the battle. the wind picks up in the afternoon. so the impact whether it comes to timing, a.m. drive, mainly all about your travel issues with the heavy wet snow. you can see the rest of it, roads as i mention, they refreeze for the p.m. rush into friday morning, then wind gusts also pick up 25 to 30 miles per hour. taking another look at another live neighborhood network shot, gorgeous afternoon, making the most of this, flirting with 70 or already hitting it, and handful of spots, like dover, atlantic city airport, for example, at 70 degrees right now. it doesn't last long. later tonight, those temperatures nosedive, they plummet, stuck in the 30's for the next few days, thankfully the storm will have long since made its exit come friday, again, still clean up to do, but in a better situation by that point. pair of three's for daytime high. then the rebounds takes place into the weekends, back to flirting with or slightly above 50. probably a rain shower on sunday.
12:23 pm
but it is not going to be snow. that's for sure. >> a good week to possibly work from home. that will an option for us? >> i wish it was. >> we should probably just stay here overnight to be ready for the snow in the morning. >> we'll be driving in, it is going home. >> what a mess. >> little pj party. well, if you love cheetos, you may want to look at them closely the next time you open a bag
