rahel. meisha mentioned, visibility issues, just standing out here and take a look as katie mentioned this snow is coming town quickly here, as we mentioned earlier we were trying up here as snow began falling so that was two hours ago and you can see, still a lot of snow already on the ground here and also advising ly, a lot of people on the road here this morning, still having to go to work, although schools are closed here still a lot of people that still needs to go to work in this area. what we are seeing is a lot of snow hows, we saw pen to the plows because we are right off of 476 north so they are going on there to treat those roads as we mentioned. they were not able to treat them ahead of time because this event to start out as rain but i'm telling you guys, great snow day for kid here as long as you don't have to be out. at this gas station. somebody pulling in and telling us stay off road it is not worth it unless you have to go toe work.

there is heavy banding with this. let's zero into philadelphia county. you still have very heavy rain falling, from our station headquarters on south down toward the stadium and across the delaware river here, right the just north even portions of 76 are starting to see this turn over to a intense snow. precipitation rates are intense here, over a half inch per hour as a bulk pushes through. turn it over to snow and you have to account for snow ratio that comes into play. you could easily be looking at half this much to an inch per hour out of those darker shades of purple. future weather will go hour by hour. even come 6:00 a.m. you will see it turn over to some good heavy thumping snow right over philadelphia county, and it will continue to just rotate around that dark shade of purple rotate through and takes over rest of the region. granted while you are not going to see as much snow in southern new jersey and

delaware you will see some. they are still calling for coat to go 2 inches there. even just shy of lunchtime, this is already well bee fine back edge, rotating away and we are in the clear even with some sunshine before the day is all said and done but keep in mind, guys there will be re treesing because temperatures will crash later on tonight in the teens and i still think we are going to have four to 8 inches of clean up around all of this area shaded this is blue. too much mixing, too limit the totals in lighter shade, two to four from dover out toward toms river, for example off to the north of that, totals get higher. we are looking at eight to 12 inches through portions of the lehigh valley as well as toward thort jersey. if you are a new york city commuter and take 78 regularry you need a backup plan here try to work from home to you are able to. jim, that doesn't include you. you are stuck with us for rest of the the day but my collogue lauren casey is outside on the sky deck and she has been owe

snow watch. what are we seen so tar. >> change over has commenced as were you showing everyone on storm scan three. the sleet is coming down. height be hard to see but it is coming down heavily and there is a bunch of ice pellets town beneath my feet, crunch, crunch, crunch and we will see the sleet change over to snow, which will happen this is next 20 minutes or so but because we have snow north and west of the city coming town heavily at an inch per hour in some areas up toward lehigh valley and poconos, visibility at zero right thousand down to a half hyle in allentown, down to 3 miles with the sleet falling heavily in philadelphia, on the roads, it will be a brutal day, if you can work from home i would do that. morning commute heavy snow, as we head into lunchtime road snow covered, windy conditions and in your p.m. commute with temperatures struggle telling day we will see ice and snow covered roads persisting along

with the windy conditions, temperatures are dropping significantly, we are at 40 degrees in philadelphia, 38 in wilmington. you can see cold arctic air positioned off to the north and west and as wind speeds pick up throughout the day to take and continue into tonight our wind chills overnight tonight and early tomorrow morning are just going to be down right brutal, sub zero in the poconos down to near zero wind chills in the lehigh valley and berks county feeling like five above along i-95 cover for even as early as this evening, tonight and tomorrow morning and feeling like 10 to 15 down the shore. meisha, this storm just keeps on giving a bunch of misery. >> i was going to say you look so comfortable and warm out there. yes. >> you look adorable i have to give it to you being outside because it is no joke. it is no joke here hitting the roadways. it is getting very busy, very slow, and we have a lot of accidents out there, as well.

we have an accident here i-95 south, i have heard reports it is thousand clearing out of your way but it is not without delay because of this, you to have residual delays pushing in the south wound direction. see headlights, visibility will lay a factor this morning you can see already and you can see wind starting to pick up with the cameras shaking around. heads up heading out to i-95 south give yourself extra time even starting right thousand give myself an extra 30 to 40 and with every passing half an hour i will tack on another 10 to five. we have speed restrictions starts to go come into play, pennsylvania turnpike is down from 70 now down to 45 whiles an hour. we have speed restrictionness effect on the the northeast extension and more highways, more interstates and more side roads are starting to see seed restriction this is play so heads up we will let you know when we hear about them we will bring them to you. mass transit, septa subways are best options, patco, special schedule between 5:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
