under investigation. also, overnight, two teens are recovering after being shot outside of a apartment in south philadelphia. it happened here at the river view apartments, on south fourth street near washington avenue. police say a group of teens was hanging out in the parking lot when someone fired four to five shots from the street. one teen was hit the in the the leg and another was grazed by a bullet, so far no word on any suspects. a shooting in north philadelphia puts two men in the hospital, this happened here on the the 2500 block of cecil b. moore avenue just after 2:00 this morning. the both of the victims are in their 30's. police say one is in critical condition. so far no suspects. lieutenant steven floyd is laid to rest, more than a week after he became first correctional officer this delaware to die in the line of duty. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has more on how lieutenant floyd is being remembered. in life he was a father, friend, and mentor, in death, a hero. lieutenant steven floyd was killed last week when he and

two other correctional officers as well as a counselor were taken hostage by inmates at a maximum security prison in smyrna, delaware. fellow officers say floyd died after warning others of the ambush. >> put him in the closet and he also said come in, come into the building to enter into the building and sergeant floyd yelled and told them it it was a trap. >> reporter: floyd was remembered sat the day during a private funeral at delaware state university. >> we mourn with the floyd family, we consider them one of ours, because steven floyd was a father. he has got the two daughters. one currently in school here, one graduated from delaware state. >> reporter: there was a large turnout by fellow members of the the law enforcement from throughout the the country. >> it is important that members of the the law enforcement family that we will stick together and show our support for each other in troubling times. >> reporter: delaware tait police are investigate hog killed floyd, questioning more than 120 inmates. the in the days after his

encounter with an suv in west philadelphia after police launched an suv strike a parked car near 62nd and market streets officers approached the car to check for injuries. according to police an officer was standing on the suv's running board to avoid traffic when the driver suddenly took off, driving four blocks while the officer held on. the eventually he was able to jump to safety. has injuries to his hand and legs however. the suv has been impounded but no arrests have been made. south korea plans to punish north korea for its latest missle launch. u.s. strategic demand detect and tracked what it assessed was a medium or inter ballistic missle will. it did not pose a threat to north america. shin sue abe is condemning north korea's launch as inn toppable. president trump assured abe natalie u. has got his back. >> i just want everybody to understand and fully know

back on "eyewitness news" police continue to investigate the death of a new jersey woman inside of the world trade center's transit hub in new york, and it happened here in the center's around 5:30 yesterday morning. jenny santas were on the escalator when she fell 30 feet to her death. she was apparently reaching for her twin sister's hat that fell over the side railing. >> it had to be horrible for her sister standing rate there and just dread full. they need to build the walls higher when they crease these escalators. walls are not high enough to prevent tragic accidents that happened like to take.

>> $3.9 billion transit hub in lower manhattan just opened last fall. meanwhile, this morning we are learning more about a motorist saved after a fiery crash in florida. he is from our region. the officers pulled the sewell , new jersey man to safety seconds before his vehicle exploded. and as natasha brown reports the rescue was all caught on camera. >> reporter: with no hesitation and no time to lose >> you're good, you're good. >> reporter: first responders in florida pulled a new jersey man from a burning vehicle just before what might have been a deadly explosion. police say thursday night 44 year-old philip veered his rav 4 off u.s. one into a concrete barrier causing to it flip several times. >> guys in the woods. >> reporter: new video shows rescuers pulling him to safety while his leg was still on fire. he was air lifted to the hospital, without giving details, authorities described his injuries, as serious.

witnesses say it is a miracle that he lived. >> it is unbelievable considering the car hit that when over the barricade and was laying on its side >> reporter: in a in a cash brown, cbs-3 "eyewitness news" we have reached out but some far no word if he has returned to new jersey. divers fine the cab of the tractor trailer that plunge off the chesapeake bay, bridge in virginia. forty-seven year-old joseph chen lost control of the pig rig while trying to pass another tractor trailer on thursday. navy rescued chen there his trailer but he died on the way to the hospital. police are hoping natalie truck's black box will help them learn more about the crash. check this out, wild wind, in wyoming. watch as powerful gusts, of wind blow over an 18 wheeler. the rig barely landed right on top of the police car. no officers are inn identify that car and no one was injured.

pennsylvania, upstate new york we have a snow line and this storm will energize late tonight, tomorrow and crank up again so it looks like round two for new england potential for a foot of snow across northern new england into maine. for us we will get rain starting to move into our region next few hours. heaviest rain will pull in late morning, into the afternoon but a fairly fast moving system that should be out pie early evening. dryer weather returns but as storm strengthen the wind kicks up behind it. temperatures wise, south jersey, delaware no issues today. you will see least amount of rain from this system. further south, dryer you will need these temperatures in the 40's, maybe close to 50 in far central delaware and son southern new jersey. mid 40's at best for philadelphia today, we are hanging on at 41. we have to watch northern bucks, montgomery county in the lehigh valley, poconos, seeing freezing rain right now , mount pocono at 29. we will struggle to get above freezing. allentown, reading these spots have a chance to get down to 32, 31 degrees.

icy conditions potentially in the lehigh valley, berks, upper bucks, later this morning and afternoon we will see rain, treeing rain, a few sleet pellets, couple hundreds of an inch of ice accumulation is possible if we get freezing rain. obviously slick travel on the sidewalks, bridges, overpass will freeze at first. poconos no taught winter weather advisory you are in the freezing rain conditions right now and that should see snow as the system energizees, and before everything comes to an end maybe a a couple inches ice amounts up to a quarter inch. rough travel in carbon monroe counties, toward pennsylvania, new york state border. is there pink showing up, even as far south as lehigh valley, northern bucks county, late this morning, that colder air, talking about trying to move back in, everybody else to the the south seeing just plane rain, steady rain early afternoon, by four or five or 6:00 it is gone. we will clear skies out. after midnight wind is really going to duck up. we will have sunshine around for monday, monday will look nice, but not feeling that

a transgendered teen who broke the mold and blazed a trail on tv is now getting her own toll. it will be available this summer. the as christine laser reports , people in the lbgt community say it is about time while critics are not so sure. >> reporter: sixteen year-old jazz jennings shared her life as a transgendered teen as tlc reality series i am jazz and now a doll based on her like ness will debut at new york toy show making it the first ever lbgt doll. >> i think it is about reflecting the world, trans people are a part of society and we're part of culture. >> reporter: she's transgendered and works for los angeles lbgt center in hollywood. she believes this doll will make a huge impact on kids while teaching them acceptance and helping those who may struggle with gender identity. >> people of my generation grew up with no role models, in language, we didn't see ourselves on tv.

philadelphia, to mourn the loss of miss harris and to remember, the many contributions that she made to her community, they called her a sister/friend, a neighborhood steward who worked hard to make her community beautiful. miss winnie was executive director and long time volunteer cart nate or of uc green a non-profit that plants trees and cleans up west philadelphia he formed partnership an coalition was neighborhood leaders making a real, positive impact. we have been told by her friend at uc green that they contacted police, when miss winnie did not show up for a meeting. when police arrived they found her unresponsive on the second floor of her home in the 300 block of north holy streets. police say that she had been shot several times and was pronounced on the scene, at the a vigil, those that knew her well, called for justice. >> if anyone knows, any information. >> speak up. >> that can help us, please speak up. there is a $20,000 reward for

where the the first boscovs store opened in the early 1900 's. >> reporter: albert boscovs liked his circular ads big, sometimes whimsical one of the first ways he got his family store on the map and grew up into a billion dollar company employing over 7,000. lisa was one of those employees. >> he knew everyone, he would walk around, and that is the type of man that he is. >> reporter: albert known as a lbi passed away just days after announcing his battle with pancreatic cancer. he was 87. that news brought him to tear. >> my god. >> reporter: stories the nation's longest running family owned department store begins with solomon boscovs a russian jewish immigrant who arrived to the u.s. 1911 attempting unsuccessfully to sell lemons w just 1.37 in his pocket he took a risk and opened up a small dry goods store here in reading this would be the site of the first boscovs.
