washington in south fill which more on the message and the impact. joe, good afternoon. >> reporter: rahel, jim, good afternoon, what started as social media campaign has certainly materialized here, in south philadelphia this afternoon. we see along this group of businesses here on ninth street practically everyone of these businesses cents is closed, again, the social media campaign really a grass root campaign, materializing here this afternoon, everybody here appearing to be a participation if the day caught immigrants. we've seen the signs on businesses reminding patrons why they are closed. there are dozens and dozens of stores, restaurants, and other places closed at this noon hour across south philadelphia. now, let me show you what it was like just yesterday at this moment, in a restaurant at south and federal, the kitchen staff as you can clearly see very busy, prepping for lunch hour crowd, but not today. the work force behind these mom and pop businesses is striking for one day,

demonstrating opposition to the trump administration, well publicized position of a crack-down on illegal immigrants and undocumented workers. they're also voicing displeasure onto other items, other items that the president made hallmarks of his campaign, name lip, effort to build a wall. now, of course, protests are planned throughout the day. this work stoppage, the one day stoppage, will last only this thursday, these businesses will of course open again in the morning come friday, but we will be following the latest on these demonstrations, count on continuing coverage starting at 5:00 on cbs-3 "eyewitness news." >> live in south philadelphia, joe holden, guys, we send it back to you. >> joe, see you then, thank you. president trump is expected to name his new nominee for secretary of labor shortly. this as democrats push for further investigations the former national security advisor michael flynn's conversations with russian officials, now president trump however claiming real problem is the leaking of classified information. craig boswell now with more from the white house.

>> we are going to find the leak. they'll pay a big price for leaking. >> president trump has declared war against people leaking classified information to the press, tweeting this morning, the spotlight has finally been put on the low life leak ers. they will be caught. national security investors michael flynn was forced to resign after press reports revealed flynn misled the american people and vice president pence about conversations he had with russia's ambassador to the u.s. i think it is very, very unfair what has happened to general flynn, the way he was treated, and the documents, and papers that were illegall illegally, i stress that, illegally leaked. >> the president is reportedly considering appointing steven fine berg, fellow new york billionaire, to lead review of us intelligence agencies. congressional republicans also taking up the president's mandate it find the leak ers and prosecute them. >> the leak to the press are out pacing the information to congress right now. >> thursday morning the heads of two house committees sent a letter to the department of justice and inspector general

asking for immediate investigation into whether classified material was mishandled. but, in a separate letter, senate democrats say attorney general, jeff sessions, a former advisor to the trump campaign, should recuse himself and appoint special council to investigate what general flynn did who knew about it and when. >> if this trail leads to the oval office, the person investigating that trail should not be the same person who helped put president trump there. >> the president dismissed those concerns thursday, tweeting, that democrats had to come up with a story as to why they lost the election and so badly that they made up a story. russia, fake news. craig boswell, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news." >> a new jersey judge has ruled criminal complaint against governor chris christie over the bridgegate scandal can go forward. misconduct complaint filed by civilian, accuses christies from closing lanes on the george washington bridge back in 2013 to punish democratic mayor who did not endorse him. the governor has de mid any

wrong-doing, he is scheduled to appear in municipal court march 10 for a criminal summons. >> just short time ago pennsylvania attorney general held press conference, for heroin seize in the several drug bust cents across the state including here in philadelphia. attorney general josh shapiro says narcotics investigation led to major arrest in the city's juniata section. police seized more than 120 grams of heroin that could have possibly been sold across the city. shapiro talked about the importance of getting those drugs off the street. >> i want to put what's on this table in some perspective for you. it represents it is 125 grams of heroin, and to put that in perspective, 125 grams of heroin would have yielded 4,166 doses of heroin. >> now, that suspect arrested in the heroin bus faces drug trafficking and other related charges. >> well, a driver is dead following an early morning crash on a busy road in delaware county. chopper three over route 322

near i-95 in upper chichester, authorities say this tractor-trailer and smaller vehicle collided shortly after 5:30 this morning, the driver of the car was killed. the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured. >> one of the eastbound lanes near the accident scene is still closed at this hour. >> a fast moving fire in the grays ferry section of the city sends five people to the hospital, including three children. the fire broke out just after 5:00 this morning on the 50000 block of south etting street. people who lived in the house were able to escape. one man suffered burns. three children who live in the neighborhood were taken to children's hospital because of smoke inhalation. >> when they finally found the fire in the smoking street, when they found the fire they attack it on the first floor, and leading up to the second floor. >> now that home and neighboring home were damaged. the cause of the fire this noon is still under investigation. >> well, the wait is over in delaware county. the wawa store in chaddsford is now telling pay tons to slider a chair, maybe crack

open a beer or two. >> this is no ordinary wawa, doors to the new one after kinds are now open. doors have been closed for renovations since january. >> today is our first day of selling beer in pennsylvania at any wawa. >> store on naman's creek road in chaddsford is whole new experience for local patrons. >> i think it is awesome to be able to come in, get a hoagie, get a beer, a pretzel, a beer, something like that, convenience around here, it is pretty awesome. >> wawa still offers its signature subs, coffee bar and fuels. but now a new walk in beer cool is her chapping g the game. >> i'm so excited i can buy beer in pennsylvania at a wawa. i can't believe it. it is wonderful. great selection. great assortment. i got two craft beers for my son. he will be thrilled. i'll let him know why he will come to this wawa to get beer in the future. >> single serve and six packs of locally brewed beers are now for stale, also the first wawa in the region offer restaurant style seating for up to 30 people. >> this is as much about seating and the opportunity

average, eaked out average day, or been below. and still looking more than anything else like it is above average month of february thus far, the one that continues to stand out though is the day that we had rid before that snowstorm, or lack thereof snow, ended upcoming in here where we were talking 70s in handful of spots. quite few new ones for the records. yesterday even still almost 10 d today, we're getting dose of reality. it is coming in part because of this guy. area of low pressure developed, if you recall yesterday, we had disturbance to the north, disturbance to the south. two have now created this guy. again, atlantic canada, toward northern new england, getting in on the snow right now, same way canada at this point, see the wrap around moisture, chill being sent in from that counter clockwise area around low pressure, keeping the temperatures little more where they should be and also keeping the winds kicks in for the rest of the day, meanwhile watching high pressure build back in, skies will clear nicely going to see the air sing down, also the winds ease

up. friday while it is still on the cool side looks real nice, then gets theme going into the upcoming weekend sigh high pressure lift in, build east, start to get more of southerly wind flow, not necessarily windy conditions but the southerly wind fly helping to bring in some warmth, and sunshine over the course of the weekend here is a look at current win gusts, finding them into the 30's, handful of spots as we had anticipated. that will blow your hat off your held, thankfully not the kind of really vicious winds like we had on earlier this week, maybe if this is your trash day you have to go is search for your garbage can at the end of the day, hopefully not too many issues. live neighborhood network, little hint of left over snow still outside pleasant valley, more clouds than anything here at this point in time see these clouds coming through intermittently, even out to beach patrol headquarters in margate, updated shot, a lot of sunshine reflecting off open water. you can tell there is definitely brighter sky down near the shore point.

temperatures meantime currently standing mid to upper 30's, low 40's at the a.c. airport, immediate shore line, upper 30s, i expect we will top off at pretty typical daytime high here in philly of about 43 degrees or so, meanwhile ocean temperature chilly polar plunge coming up in sea isle this weekend, 43, as i mention for the expected hi, wind though knock 10 degrees off that's how it will feel. head into tonight still under couple of patchy clouds, 26 degrees, as we move forward here, here comes the good stuff. take look. saturday but the full, big warm up, flirting with 60. sunday my personal favorite, 64 degrees, still in the sunshine and long weekends for president's day if you are lucky enough to have three day weekend, gorgeous, continues with a high of 60 still sunny on monday. you dot not plan this better if you tried. >> we will be there! >> thanks, katie, appreciate it. in tonight's taste with tori, you will meet a 11 year old boy named leo. >> leo is a spirited home chef who loves to cook with his mom

and sister, and is cooking, that's really become a happy habit in their house with many added benefits because leo has autism. >> i kind of describe it sort of like having adhd -- he was very interested in cooking so it was one of the only ways i could engage him. >> no in -- now in their house they don't see autism they just see leo. vittoria not only had a seat at their dinner table but a recipe from the cook book his mom wrote and said she was inspired by with cooking with leo, and the dietary restrictions, served with big helping of mother's love tonight at 11:00 here on cbs-3 "eyewitness news." >> looking forward to it. >> see what happens when fathers from our area go to their daughter's ballet class.
