>> this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news." >> right now at 11:00 were police dodging bullets tonight in north philadelphia. one officer is injured after a chaotic scene with riders on dirt bikes. now police are rounding up the suspects. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks for joining us. mumble police scene are being investigated at this hour, but still unclear as to why. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff live in north philly with more on this developing story. >> reporter: natasha, we have new information into the cbs-3 news doodies being, here's what we know right now. police responded when heavy presence to the area of the 2,000 block of judson street around 7:15 this evening. following reports of gunshots. whether police arrived they found several males on dirt bikes fleeing the area. with the help of highway patrol and a police air tactical unit, three males were tracked down, but no weapons were recovered. now, while pursuing these

individuals, an officer was injured, according to police. it is unclear how that happened and what that officer's condition is. but they were transferred to hahnemann hospital. a witness on scene told me that they heard what sounded like gunshots, but believe that it may just have been the sound of the dirt bikes backfiring. police have not indicated anything of that sort. it all seems to have been cleared. reporting live from police headquarters this evening, alexandria hoff, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> alec, thank you so much. little boy meantime rushed to the hospital after he was hit by an s.u.v. this afternoon in ambler, montgomery county. this video was taken by an eyewitness at spring garden street, the medivac chopper rushed the two year old to children's hospital of philadelphia. police say the boy was at the park with his parents at the time. police suddenly ran into the street. >> the child, small, the operator might not have

realized they struck the child and kept ongoing. >> the dark gray or black suv left the scene headed southbound on main street. they're asking anyone who may have any information to please contact them right away. >> and flames ripped through an apartment building in fairless hills, bucks county tonight. this is cell phone video, from lakeview terrace, on old boulevard around 7:00. the fire damaged building e, no one was injured, and the cause is still under investigation. >> also tonight, affair dispute two between cab drivers turns violent outside the frankford terminal. one driver pulled a gun, and shot the other driver, who had pulled out a knife this afternoon. the 52 year old knife wielding driver was shot in the head, neck and stomach, and there is no word on his condition. police arrested the driver armed with a gun, and he did apparently have a permit to carry that weapon. >> also tonight, the delaware county woman accused of stabbing a eight year old girl in the face with a steak knife makes her first court appearance. today a judge set bail at

$250,000 for majea-bashir in collingdale, stabbed a girl inside home on mcdade boulevard friday afternoon. police believe dispute over babysitting may have led to the violent encounter. and it is unlikely the little girl was the intended target. family members are now defending the suspect. >> it was a mistake. she is not a criminal. >> she didn't intends to stab the girl? >> no intention to stab the girl. >> police say the little girl is expected to recover. >> and popular south philly sandwich shop reopens after a brazen burglary. john's roast pork began serving customers again today on snyder avenue. sometime early friday, burglars broke into the business through the exhaust system on the roofer. the owner tells "eyewitness news" that took thousands of dollars in cashier mark for

charity. >> and we do hope that you didn't miss out on this gorgeous day outside today, with temperatures in the 60s, it was really tough to watch the sun go down. it was a slow trek into work, lauren. we will turn things over to you now, tell us a little bit more about this more spring like days ahead we hope. >> we do. if you like today, you will like tomorrow, as well, i think we all like today. 68 degrees, high temperature in philadelphia, 1 degrees shy of the record, but can you believe we started the day in the 20's. that's quite the rebound. our low this morning, 29 degrees. now we're close to that record of zero. temperatures right now, still very mild at this point. checking in on live neighborhood network, cape ma may, 51 degrees, west chester, 54 degrees, these temperatures are still well above our average high temperature for the day. and over the last 24 hours, temperatures have been cruising, this time yesterday, we were about 20 degrees cooler in philadelphia, but this evening, we're about

30 degrees more mild in millville. same case in wildwood. about 20 degrees more mild in reading over the last 24 hours. and more winter warmth is in store for our sunday, forecast high temperature in the city, 66 degrees, and that would be 2 degrees shy of the record high, setback in 1948. of 68 degrees. so yes, another spring like day in store for our sunday. a bit cooler as we head into president's day, but i think you'll like that forecast as well, then headed into next week, more near record warmth in store. i'll let you know to look forward to that in your full eyewitness forecast coming up in just a couple every minutes, natasha? >> thanks so much. president trump returned to his familiar roll as campaign nerve chief in florida today. huge crowds stretched as far as the eye could see to hear the president thank them, and attack the reporter who cover his administration. >> president donald trump was back in his comfort zone, rallying supporters, at airport hangar this time in mel born, florida. >> i hear your demand, i hear your voices. and i promise you, ill

deliver. >> president trump was quick to defend his first month in office as he ramped up his attack on the media. >> the dishonest media, which has published one false story after another, with no sources even though they pretends they have them. >> thousands waited in the blazing sun for hours to attend the rally. jane huber first in line at 4:00 this morning. >> made all of these promises to us. and he is doing every single promise that he has mentioned, that's the one thing that i've always believed with president trump, what he says, is going to happen. >> this is my 14th rally. i've been to three trump rallies. i just like to support donald trump. >> across the street thousands of demonstrators protested against him. >> seems very suspicious, and the republicans completely unwilling to support that.

>> supporters told us they were eager to hear more about the president's promise to create jobs, especially in the area owe space industry along florida space coast, former home of nasa shuttle program in a county where many of those jobs have dried up. >> well the woman meantime behind the infamous roe vs wade supreme court has passed away. norma was the lead plaintiff in the case that legalized abortion nationwide in 1973. the 59 year old was the jane row in the case. she died of heart problems. she later became a born-again christian and joined a group opposed to abortion rights. she was in her thirds pregnancy while the case was going on, and gave the baby girl up for adoption. >> today hundreds marched in minneapolis to protest the recent raids by immigration and customs enforcement agents. president trump signed executive offered that made clear immigrants living in the country illegally could be a priority for deportation. protesters also called for minneapolis to remain a

sanction too area city. also, hundreds marched for immigration rights and to oppose immigration rates in los angeles as well. they also ask the city and the county to invest in programs that help immigrants. protesters say they will continue their mars until president trump puts a stop to his agenda. >> so when your american flag what do you do with it? the respect you will full way one city asking to dispose of old glover. >> i when is the last time that you went out without a coat in february? it has been a while. we will take you back in time to beautiful saturday in the neighborhood. lauren? >> yes, you can leave that coat behind again tomorrow and tomorrow is not the only day, more 60s in the forecast as we head into next week. and i'll have all of the details on this winter warmth coming up in just a few minutes.

>> so when old glory phrase, not everyone knows what to do with their american flag n texas there is one community making sure the symbol of history and heritage gets a proper send offer. at the dallas fort worth city hall building the flags drop off box provides a place to retire old glory respectfully. once the box is full, members of the american legion come out to collect. >> good feeling to see that. people just aren't throwing them away, know they'll go to the proper place to be disposed of. >> on flag day, they host special ceremony and burn them one by one. now one person was hurt after a sinkhole swallowed up two cars in california. oh, my goodness. both cars dropped 20 feet in studio city. firefighters lowered a ladder to get a 48 year old woman out of that hole. she is expected to be okay. water was seen raging in the hole underneath the roadway. officials believe recent rainstorms are what caused the street to crumble. >> meanwhile california now bracing for yet another wave

of torrential rain today. and tomorrow actually after above average rainfall has already triggered an unusually number of mudslides. officials say there have been five mudslides along highway 50 in the past week. blocking lanes of traffic. crews are on the highway now putting up fences and other barricades, trying to hold mud in place. >> while the west coast gets drenched, the east coast is enjoying quite a winter warm up. days like today can give us a bit of spring fever. one of the lucky people out there who got to spend the whole day outside. >> whether jogging, biking or just sitting back, relaxing, philadelphia's fairmount mark was packed with people enjoying very un winter like day. >> nice to get out of the house. >> they took their five month old marlie out for some fresh air. >> oh, man it is gorgeous. we just are enjoying this three day weekend, and taking our daughter out for first bit of sunshine.

spring-like blue, sunny skies, of course the very mild temperatures, and we still have a ways to go for spring. but the countdown is on. daylight savings begins in 22 days, so we will get the extra hour of sunshine in the evening hours. thirty days until the official beginning of spring. the vernal equinox, meteorological spring starts march 1st. forty-five days until our average high temperature, 06 degrees, but of course well beyond that today. and 48 days until phillies home opener. temperatures right now still very mild. average high temperature, 44 degrees. we're at 53 right now. live look at center city philadelphia, winds out of the southwest, that southerly component to the wind flow is ushering in this warm air, that's remained in place, chillier right now, clear sky conditions up toward the lehigh valley, 47 degrees, still in the 50's in the poconos. 55 degrees in millville. and still hanging out close to 06 degrees in dover. we're at zero six right now in the big applement you can see this warm air mass, just entrenched across the region, zero six in washington, 60 in

richmond. so it is not going to be budging as we head into our sunday. that jet stream, that ridge, remains in place. we'll have another day with high temperatures topping about 20 degrees above our average. so we will be a bit cooler head into president's day on monday, maybe nice three day weekend, 53, though, not all too bad. some patchy clouds in the morning, sunny skies take us into the end of the day monday. storm scan3 showing us hey we do have cloud deck increasing very slowly south to north over the last couple of hours, mainly high level cloud cover, still clear sky conditions in the poconos, could maybe see passing sprinkle, through more in the ways of moisture off to the south and west, but don't get enough to get shower activity overnight tonight. chance every passing sprinkle main lip south of the city mostly cloudy don't to 46 degrees, and as we head into the day tomorrow. morning clouds around don't fret. 66 degrees for the high temperature, and future radar and temperatures will show us as we head throughout the

overnight period, temperatures not falling too far. both clouds in the morning, especially across portions of south jersey and the shore, but then as we head into lunchtime temperatures soaring. and that sunshine braking out all across the delaware valley. little cooler cape may county with westerly wind off the ocean in the bay. keep temperatures in the 50's for you, still feels very nice for a february day. we head into monday morning, temperatures bill chit year -- chillier. waking to up 30's, who's, high temperatures in the four's, 50's, as we head into our president's day, but altogether beautiful three day weekend. and we've stillage two days to go, tomorrow another beauty. gradual clearing down the shore. poconos gorgeous day for hike, mostly sunny 49 degrees. all across the area well above our average climbing into the 60s at many of the reporting sites. we top at 50 degrees in the poconos. as i mentioned, president's day looking pretty good. fifty-three our coolest day of the next seven, only ooh on tuesday, with chance of late day shower. then we are back up into the
