>> katie, checking the forecast. >> good morning, ladies? good morning, happen mine day. nothing says spring fever, well, good morning, we're back at it, tractor-trailer overturned in mt. laurel. >> weather. >> all looks good. definitely cooler day by comparison, much cooler but still well above average if that makes sense, still going to top off to the mid 50's, follow a high would dictate on this day of the year only mid 40's, and yes, it will be another pretty mile one for us here. at least for the standards, but not the caliber what we had last week, or yesterday i should say. meanwhile outside we go, here, nice clear sky, very, very calm over the city of philadelphia and everywhere else, barely have any breeze at all to speak of here. looking at storm scan, again, not heck of a lot to report here. barely even cloud in the sky. that in part will help us cool down little bit more readily, but again, what you see will be what you get on the thermometer, very comfortable all granted cool start to the day. but, as opposed to wearing

shorts and t-shirts like we had yesterday, going to be stuck wearing maybe light jacket. as opposed to heavy winter coat. that's definitely not going to be needed here today with high pressure built in place. at this point, really keeping control of our weather at least for now. but take a look, the winds flow generally coming out of the north at the moment. but, it is not terribly harsh, certainly barely noticeable, up to 10 miles per hour granted at philadelphia international airport. but, across southern new jersey, very, very quiet, very tranquil, and so calm that the words calm is actually overlaying it self from millville to atlantic city. meanwhile, technically again, also pretty mild start here folks. mid zero's, already flirting with 50's in the city, meisha. >> katie, sounds good to me. i'm sure a lot of us at home. so glad you're here, it is early and still dark outside. we do have construction, taillights moving oxford valley all lanes blocked. this area is now clearing. just heads up on this. actually looking pretty goodment take it easy around this area.

we mitt still have little bit of clearing left to do there. also the vine was open. see both moving in the wean and eastbound direction. looking good here. you can see eastbound direction we actually have more vehicles out there than i thought that we would be having this morning, especially given that is hole day. then while i was talking at the desk about ten minute ago we do have overturned tractor trailer in mt. laurel. the driver of this tractor-trailer was injured, was transported to the hospital. traffic it sound like now just kind of getting by on the shoulder, new jersey turnpike northbound past route 73, all lanes, still considered blocked. use the alternate 295 or it will be slow moving trying to pass by on the shoulder. >> meisha, thank you. developing now, mechanic is gagged and bound in his house. >> his brother found him two days later. trang do live in philadelphia's juniata park neighborhood, good morning, trang. >> well, good morning, jim, rahel. this man is currently in stable condition at aria-torresdale hospital. he has some serious injuries to his face as well as his

arms and legs because he was tied up for two days, so take a look, where it all happened. start in the this garage and quickly moved up to this second floor bedroom. now, investigators aren't sure at this point if the man was robbed, but they say it appears he definitely was targeted. this happened around 11:00 p.m. friday. police say a 50 year old man was working in his open garage on the 4200 block of neilson street when two mask men entered with a gun. they forced him into his home, to up second floor bedroom, where police say he was bound with electrical tape, gagged with a rag, beaten then pistol whipped. the men left after 15 minute but the victim was not found until almost 48 hours later. around 5:00 p.m. sunday the man's concerned brother broke into the house, looking for him, and found him still tied up. >> we don't know if anything has been taken here. we have yet to determine that. we do know that he was assaulted, and it does appear that some sort of planned attack, this crime was planned

out. >> and investigators expect to be out here for several hours this morning, processing this scene. they say that this garage here has both interior annex tear year cameras that captured a lot of this horrific crime on camera. for now, liver from juniata park, trang do, cbs 3, "eyewitness news." jim, rahel, back to you. >> hopefully those cameras help, trang, thank you. new this morning, philadelphia police think robbery was the motive in a attack on a man in east oaklane. someone pistol whipped 19 year old man on the 6600 block of north six street. the gun went off. but he wasn't hit. the victim is being treated at einstein medical center. >> chester police are investigating a shooting at convenience store, it is unclear if the shooting happened outside or inside the chester shop and save near ninth and central. happened about 8:00 last night, man rushed to crozer-chester medical sent war gunshot wound to the abdomen. there is no word on his condition. we're still wait to go finds out if charges will be

filed after car struck three pedestrians on city avenue. this happened shortly before 10:00 last night, right near monument road in wynnefield height. the car's windshield was smashed during the impact. police directed traffic around the vehicles as they investigated. no word yet on the condition of the victim. >> a car crashes knolled being in north philadelphia sending three people to the hospital this happened on the 1600 block of bouvier street right near oxford street. car smashed into the property's front railing just before 10:00 last night. no word yet on how the victims are doing. >> and firefighters continue to battle a forest fire in ocean county new jersey. the fire scorched more than 100 acres of the greenwood forest wild live management area in manchester township. it started sunday morning. although the smoke forced closure of route 539 for several hours, there is no danger to homes or businesses. still no word this morning on how that fire started. >> well, protesters are expected to spend part of this president's day protesting against president trump.

organizers are holding a rally today at thomas payne plaza across from city hall. they'll be held from noon to 3:00. they oppose president's trump's executive orders including the travel ban a federal court has put on hold. the president plans to unveil his revised immigration and travel ban this week. >> meanwhile the white house confirms the firing of senior trump administration officials, craig dear headed the national security council western hemisphere division until he criticized the president's policies toward mexico. as roxanna reports, the president is holding more meetings with can dads on his short list for national security advisor. >> president trump took break from day long meetings with potential national security advisor candidates to have dinner at his florida resort. nearly a week since general michael flynn resigned from the job. the president's next pick retired advise admiral robert harwood turned it down. >> in many respects cents this administration is in dis a ray. >> sunday white house officials down played the trump administration is in

bucks county all set to spread messages of acceptance and inclusion. last week the group showing up for racial justice came together to create special heart shaped flyers. all in response to the distribution of kkk recruitment flyers in the same neighborhood. today members will take to the streets to pass out the new signs which promote positive tiffly. local businesses are encouraged to put the flyers on display. well this morning, the faa is investigating the crash of this small plane in montgomery county. now authorities say the cessna 180 aircraft went down shortly after take-off yesterday afternoon from the butter valley golf port in upper hanover township. force of the crash cracked the plane in two, but the pilot and three other walked away unhurt. >> and he look up, and he watched the plane, and then the guy disappeared. and then we didn't hear anything. and then when we came up on the next hole we see all of the ambulances and the firetrucks and the wing of the plane picking up. and he said oh, it must have went down. i was right. >> and the airport owner tells

the red being eagle that a wind gust caught the plane and likely caused that crash. >> and another plane comes crashing down this time in bayonne, new jersey, that's just outside of new york city. single engine plane smashed into pieces yesterday morning, officials say the pilot started to run into problems over the statue of liberty. the plane brought down wires, crushed few cars before landing upside down. the pilot was identified as 56 year old george petway, they rushed him to the hospital where he is in stable condition. the national constitution center celebrating this president's day by offering free admission to all visitors. can learn about the role of the president, see first-hand what it takes to be commander in chief. from 9:30 until noon, there will be presidential costume contest, come dressed as favorite president or first lady. will feature very famous guests, thomas jefferson, abraham lincoln, and theodur roosevelt. well the national constitution center isn't the only place hosting president day festivities today t the

night. the victim was rushed to the hospital where he later died. no arrests have been made. >> well, in florida, police are searching for this suspect who followed a vehicle to the drive-thru window of a mcdonald's, then confronted the cashier at the window. take a look at the surveillance individual quote man on foot forced to open the drive-thru window, stuck his head in, started waving around a handgun. when the cashier ran, the suspects tore the register from its place and took off with it. several people this morning are injured after two alarm fire at los angeles hotel, this is the scene last night, firefighters responded to the blaze shortly before 9:00 arriving to find smoke pouring from the hotel. there were initial reports that people trapped on the top floor, but rescuers able to get everybody out. nine people suffered minor injuries including six treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. >> back here at home, penn state student do it again. >> the nittany lions raked in over $10 million to fight pediatric cancer, the no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon, came to end yesterday afternoon, thousands

packed the jordan -- bryce jordan center this weekends, student organization hads been planning and celebrating with their thon families, get this, 16,000 student volunteers hosed the event. for some goes much deeper than the dollar sign. >> we can relieve some of their stresses so they can focus on their family and spend that time with their children and make memories that are just going to last them years. happy thon memories to last them for years. that's what it is about. >> now there is was thon's 40th years with four diamonds, the two have raised, get this over, $136 million in total over the course of their partnership. >> well done, student. >> wow, time 4:45. >> katie here with another check on the forecast, katie, it was a fantastic weekend, but everybody on twitter wants to know this morning, will today bring more of the same? >> it will bring more of the sunshine, but that is cooler day that's going to un fowl for our area. although, technically, still substagely above average by almost 10 degrees. so not bad at all.

frankly, again, we are not in normal territory at this point. we hit 70 greets yesterday. very far cry from where we should normally been -- be, mid four's, get knocked back pretty substantially here. already very calm beginning to the day. won't notice too much after breeze here today, not windy day. you may notice a little bit of minor breeze, but generally just really nice weather unfolding for us here, under storm scan3, virtually no cloud cover right now. we look at nice wide zoom on storm scan, there is new storm system starting to get its act together back across texas, all the way into the eastern nebraska even, but, we are eventually going to see little bit of rain later into the mid week. that will kind of be it. still quite a bit of ups and downs, very warm weather to tell you about. meantime, look at the difference here, as the colder air swept in. we have seen temperature differences ten to almost 20 degrees out near the shore points, at 17, cooler than

were you this same time yesterday. so, it is definitely taking grip that cooler watch of air. not enough to send us back to seasonable. not yet anyway. forty-nine the current temperature with modest north wind out at philadelphia international airport at 10 miles per hour, but take a look here, yes, we cool down little more in the next day or two, but we warm right back up, with another record expected by thursday. look at that. back to the mid 60s friday, saturday, as another storm system rolls through. meisha? >> all right. katie, thank you. seventy-one, turning our attention to something i mentioned little bit ago. we pull your attention again, little more serious here, also just headed out the door i would avoid this at all costs, use alternate watch do we have going on? overturned tractor trailer in mt. laurel. the driver was injured, transported to the hospital. it sound like drivers are squeezing by on the shoulder but that is it is getting very busy around the area, hence, we have this alternate up there. it says iolande block. shoulder squeezing by.

i would still recommend if you have to go out there using this alternate 295 that will help up out quite a bit. we can see a lot of flashing lights out, there still a lot of activity going on here, you are dropping absolutely less than posted speeds already. we're not even into the 5:00 hour. so heads up again, overturned tractor-trailer still out there, absolutely starting to she you down little bit. also, some construction out there as well just now clearing, route one, oxford valley, all lanes were blocked looks like now just starting to get back to normal. traveling at normal speeds, as well, but i just want to pull a heads up to this area. you will be closed overnight. >> this will be all week long. so it will be something that you want to factor into your morning plans specially for the 5:00 hour, jim, rahel, back to you. >> thank you, meisha. big auto maker is laying off thousands of workers, but not permanently. >> we will tell you the reason and when the workers will be back on the job in this morning's money watch report.

women as everywhere else. we've got generally clear sky across the entire region here. we will keep that in place all day today. now, the thing is we did actually have cold front cross through t has knocked the temperatures back, we've seen at this .10 to almost 20 degrees drop off from the 24 hour temperature change though as of 4:55 yesterday morning. it was that much milder. but, it still will be an above-average day. you'll see. take a look at the average temperatures, 49, the temperature at philadelphia international airport, looks like the mild he is of this particular slew of observations again the shore point also got some above average warmth going for you, the winds out of the north, it is still not a bad day. take a look, the seven day, i promise you just before the break more record warmth, it stands out like a sore thumb or maybe happy thumb. 71 degrees on thursday. very mild air. we've got couple of systems coming through, showers late in the day tomorrow. then another storm system leading up to the weekend. meisha? >> all right, katie, thank you. we are starting off fairly busy in the traffic department

donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. out the door with a check on the forecast with a check on roads with katie and meisha. >> happy monday. so starting off with a little bit after bang. we have overturned tractor-trailer, mt. laurel, new jersey, on the new jersey turnpike, we will be talking about that in a bit. >> thankfully the wet letter cooperate for anyone travel today. combat some sun glare i would say, certainly as the sun continues to come up earlier and earlier every day, later and later, yes, becomes more of an issue for the a.m. and p.m. drivers. rye now storm scan is very quiet. it will stay that way throughout the day. not too much after breeze, just minor one that you may notice ever so slightly. but generally this just looks like very calm day, certainly storm scan reflect that with nice clear sky overhead at the moment. now we did have cold front that passed through, and it did actually knock our temperatures back. however, it didn't knock them far enough back that we're actually back to what's seasonable just yet. so still very mild day for the standards, and again, late february, hit 07 degrees yesterday? i mean, that's
