>> well, tonight a 6 o'clock storm watch a severe thunderstorm watch is that in effect until 9 p.m. check out that lightning over center city philadelphia. it's fierce. some are even reporting hail. so will it wash out the rest of your evening? storm scan3 showing lots of activity in and around our region. that's why we're tracking the storm for you tonight. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks so much for joining us. what began as a lovely day with highs in the 70's is quickly turning into a saturday evening washout for many of us. lauren casey is watching the storm as it passes through our local communities. lauren, what's happening right now. >> yeah r-seeing different things across the area getting a look at some of our camera. neighborhood cameras across the delaware valley due to the storm's impact, some dealing with wet roads, windy conditions and temperatures that are dropping dramatically. some dealing with some residual showers and others still dealing with severe storms and we still do have the severe thunderstorm warning in effect for parts of the shore right now. you can see just how potent this line of severe storms was as it roared across the area

throughout the afternoon and continues this evening. this is where our severe thunderstorm warning is still in effect until 6:15 for our shore points stretching up into burlington county as well, the most potent portion of this line right now positioned over atlantic county so likely seeing torrential rain coming down nearly continuous lightning also wind gusts possible to 50 to 60 miles per hour as well as some small hail as the rain will continue to move its way eastbound so atlantic city watt watch out that rain will that start pouring down within the next 10 minutes. heavy rain avalon stretching down into cape may as well. where you see these red returns those are going to be the pockets of very torrential heavy rainfall near zero visibility and also dealing with quite a bit of lightning around mays landing. the edge of the line of the strongest portion of the line impacting far eastern parts of the area. that will continue to roll east. we're in the clear in other areas but we did see some hail reports across the area burnville quarter size hail same case allentown penny sized in manayunk media pea

sized carbon county pea sized hail as well. down trees across the area, new jersey, pennsylvania, wires down in plainfield township. we have severe thunderstorm watch in effect for the shore until 9 o'clock, philly until 8 o'clock. counties to the west have been dropped off. we'll continue to see those counties drop off as the storm rolls east as we head into the next couple hours. more on what to expect this evening coming up in just a few. >> lauren thanks. see you soon. also today protesters filled the streets of philadelphia and cities around the country speaking out against president trump's plan to get rid of obamacare. he spoke at the annual conservative political action conference yesterday repeating his plan to repeal and replace. >> millions of people were very happy with their healthcare. they had their doctor. they had their plan. remember the lie 28 times, you could keep your doctor. you could keep your plan. over and over and over again you heard it. >> well, this map shows all of the cities other than philadelphia where healthcare

rallies are happening today. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan spoke with protesters in center city. >> we have to vote. >> reporter: the movement to stop president trump's agenda focused on preserving the affordable care act. hundreds gathered at pain plaza at an event organized by women's march pennsylvania. >> we have to keep holding these events and giving people opportunities top have their voices heard. >> reporter: the crowd included doctors and nurses. >> healthcare providers feel that everyone shop just have access to care independent of income level. >> reporter: for some protecting president obama's healthcare plan that mandates everyone have health insurance while increasing assistance is personal. >> my brother got healthcare under the affordable care act. >> reporter: there are concerns republicans and trump's promise to repeal and replace would negatively impact the elderly and poor. >> 2012 they found a hole in my lung the size of a dollar piece. >> reporter: denise major says she didn't have health insurance for several years

before the aca. >> i was making too much money to qualify but because of the medicaid expansion i was able to get coverage and get my issues addressed. >> reporter: the rally included speeches from democrats like congressman dwight evans and senator bob casey. trying to apply pressure to their gop colleagues that control the house and senate. >> one more demonstration let people know that this means life or death to them. >> reporter: many of the people we spoke to today say they'll continue to raise their voice after the rally on social media by calling members of congress at their offices and also by showing up whenever there are town hall meetings. in center city, i'm cleve bryan cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> and police are also looking for answers now following the mysterious death of a woman in port richmond. this happened here on the 3200 block of mercer street yesterday afternoon. a 57-year-old woman was that found by a family member lying unconscious in her own home in a pool of blood. she had suffered blunt trauma to her head. now the victim died minutes after medics arrived. police found that the second

floor of the home was ransacked. however, they did not find any signs that someone forced their way inside the home. >> according to family members, there are some items that are missing from the house and there are cameras on both sides of the street so hopefully these cameras recorded someone either entering or exiting the property. >> well, family members told police that they dempsey the victim alive in the morning yesterday. police are currently investigating this incident as a homicide. and no one was reported to have been injured in a fire at the tastykake factory in south philadelphia. firefighters responded to the factory in the navy yard this afternoon. work temporarily stopped as employees waited outside of the building. the factory opened back in 2010. very rare february event, severe storms rolling through the region. the video was sent to us from cbs3 photographer will ken worthy. he's in perkiomen montgomery county and that's what they're seeing out there. you can see the rain pouring,

lightning flashing. pretty fierce weather conditions there. storm scan3 also track our stormy severe weather night. thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 o'clock and meteorologist lauren casey has the latest on where the storms are heading and where they're finally going to be out of here. lauren. >> yeah, they're almost out of here. we cleared out along the i-95 corridor, center city we still could see showers but our severe weather threat has come to an end. that focus down to the shore. we'll show is you we had this cool time lapse. check this out. storms rolling into center city philadelphia. we had the sunshine today, the 70's, and then boy did things change as those storms rolled in, turned our sky to overcast and we saw nearly continuous lightning here in center city as well. and that's what some are seeing down the shore right now on storm scan3 with some of these storms that are still strong. we have had our severe thunderstorm warning. it has been allowed to expire for our shore points. the heaviest precipitation is working off shore right now but still some heavy downpour activity and the likely some

gusty winds in and around the avalon area now up into atlantic city. you're getting in on this storm activity as well, quite a bit of lightning for you. we are seeing some residual shower activity maybe even a few rumbles of thunder developing on the tail end of this squall line but again, in these areas a severe weather threat has come to an end once that squall line moved off shore. we're going to see some showers but again, not worried about any if harsh weather storms impacting the shore ending by 7 o'clock, 8 o'clock maybe a few lingering showers until 11 o'clock and then we transition over top gusty winds and some. much colder temperatures. 73 in philadelphia today t-our forecast low for tonight, 37 degrees. and temperatures are already dropping on the backside of the cold front where the storms have rolled through. 41 in mount pocono. we're down to 50 in the lehigh valley. mid-50's in philadelphia and the winds are whipping now on the backside of this system as well. wind speeds up around 10 to 15 miles per hour with those higher gusts. we'll have windy conditions throughout the overnight period and a blustery sunday

in store. so, overnight tonight you had temperatures dropping off dramatically. clearing skies, rain comes to an end, 37 degrees and for our sunday thus far 46, mostly sunny, blustery conditions with those winds still whipping and a high temperature tomorrow in the poconos only in the middle 30's after our near record high temperatures today, this is going to feel much different with highs in the low to mid 40's across much of the area so that winter returns tomorrow. only briefly, though. by monday we're back up into the middle 50's. tuesday we're back up into the 60's with a chance of some scattered showers. wednesday showers and maybe even another round of some thunderstorms to kick in the month of march we're up to 66 degrees and then winter does return once again so it's not officially over. some colder air moving in for the start of next weekend as well. but another rollercoaster ride in store this week. >> all right, thank you so much, lauren. appreciate that. lesley is here with sports in that's right. ly in a couple hours the flyers will play their cross state rival the penguins
