accomplishments at the white house ball. good morning at studio 57 newsroom headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. there was an ending they could not dream up, not even in hollywood. there was a confusion when the wrong movie was named best picture. danielle nottingham is in los angeles with more on the stunning mistake, danielle. >> reporter: good morning, anne-marie. that's what you call a surprise ending. everyone thought the talk this morning would be about the political statements or the academy making strides in diversity. but the announcement for best picture could easily qualify as the best and worst moment of the night. >> "la-la land." >> in one of the most shocking moments in oscar history, la-la land won best picture and as the kaftd made their way to the

medicare and tomorrow he's expected to outline some of his proposals during his speech to congress. also today the president will meet with the nation's governors. last night they were guests at the white house for a special dinner. wendy gillette reports. >> reporter: the nation's governors greeted president trump with a standing ovation. >> we're very happy with the work and, again, we've made a lot of promises over the last two years and many of those promises are already kept. >> reporter: he briefly mentioned the obamacare act. >> there have been a lot of problems. i won't say it in frolkts of the democrats. 'll just say it in front of the republicans. it doesn't work. philip builden said he's concerned about privacy and had difficulty separating himself from his business interests. the white house had strongly

denied it saying the nomination might be in trouble. as the president hits back against negative news reports and tweets he tested he won't attend the national white house correspondents' dinner. >> i think it's kind of naive of us to think we can all walk in a room for a couple of hours and pretend that tension isn't there. >> reporter: a new nbc/wall street journal poll shows 44% approve of how president trump is doing his job, a record low for a new president. 48% disapprove. president trump will deliver his first address tuesday night. president trump will bring his address tomorrow night at 9:00 p.m. eastern. a top chinese official is expected to meet with top u.s. officials tomorrow. he's the most senior chinese

official to visit since president trump took office. he has also criticized china's military activitieses in the south china sea. president trump is expected to sign a new executive order on refugees and immigration on wince. the new initial order temporarily stops all entries into the u.s. from seven muslim countries was blocked by a judge. the father of a navy s.e.a.l. wants an investigation. his father bill owens criticized the president for approving the raid a week after taking office. bill owens also told "the miami herald" he refused the meet with the president when his son's body was returned to the united states. the newly elected national chairman tom perez said he'll unify the party. he was elected in an unusually competitive race saturday.

he beat congressman keith ellerson backed by bernie sanders. the more liberal ring of the party is upset. perez said democrats have to rebuild from the school board to the senate. yesterday president trump tweeted the race for dnc chairman was rigged. bernie sanders never had a chance. >> our unity is president trump's worst nightmare. new orleans police say the man accused of driving into a mardi gras crowd had a blood alcohol level three times the limit. police sayneilson rizzuto was driving drunk when he drove into a parade. >> he got frustrated and

for the week, the dow gained 548 point, the s&p 500 finished 50 points higher. it has surged 10% since the elections. the naz tack gained 109 points for the week. walmart has reportedly opened a new price war. reuters reports that walmart is put the pressure on kroger. they launched a price test across 11 southwestern states. the test is finding right price point across a range of products that will attract more shoppers and adjust prices as needed. google's assistant will come to phones. as early as this week it will be available on android 6 and 7 devices in the u.s. google's assistant allows user os ask questions about weather, flight information, and appointments. >> we now know what the new
