forecast. it is all right now at 6:00. here's is what happening, walking a fine line, a proposal for pedestrian walkway on villanova's campus is raise something eyebrows. not because of the bridge but because of what will be on the bridge. tonight we're getting both sides of the story. good evening, i'm ukee washington. i'm jessica don't walkway is being built with both state and university funds. "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live on the villanova campus with more on is what behind the bridge battle. >> greg. >> reporter: good evening. it all began in 2015 when officials from radnor township approached the university, asking them to build a pedestrian bridge. to give you an idea, starting at saint thomas church and end where i'm standing right here. it will get students across that busy street in a safe man or but some from this

community are concerned over pedestrian bridge's design. >> it is on. >> reporter: each and every day hundreds if not thousands of villanova students cross lancaster avenue near saint thomas church on their radnor campus. >> it is a busy road. >> wait, wait. >> reporter: every day you can catch students crossing against the light, despite traffic, barely barreling towards them. >> kids are crossing over when they should not be and problems. >> reporter: as part of the 285 million-dollar expansion project, radnor township has approved this pedestrian walkway. >> the bridge was a waste to make sure students were safe and keep them off the road. >> reporter: but commissioner luke clark says it is what is perched atop the bridge that has some living in radnor concerned. >> controversy where cross is, villanova was proposing to put on the bridge. >> they are not facing pedestrians but the traffic so it is driving public that will be getting this message. >> reporter: bridge is on villanova property but will be paid for with both university and state money.

the design includes four crosses, neighbor rick rennard i believes it should be changed calling it un constitutional because of the separation of church and state. >> his solution. >> turn them so they face pedestrians. >> reporter: students though don't think it is a big deal. >> i think it is university property, so, i think that they should be able to do what they want. >> i can understand if people find an issue with it but i don't see going to war bit. >> reporter: with you nom must approve it appears that war is over. >> design looks great. crosses will go up there. is it right or wrong? i don't know. at the end of the day it is their pot. it is a religious institution and law for the most part is in their favor report report we are told this pedestrian bridge will be completed in early 2018 and once the bridge is finished, it will be entirely villanova's property. maintenance of the bridge will be completed by them. now we have reached out to the university, a spokesperson there was not able to comment about this controversy.

we are live from radnor township i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks, greg. volunteers coming together to undue damage caused by vandals at a local jewish cemetery. "eyewitness news" at mount carmel jewish cemeteries in wissonoming where vandals overturned more than 100 grave stones. volunteers there, spent the afternoon straightening things up and making repairs. it ills a process that will continue tomorrow. >> i was close to crying, but then i came here, and it was even worse, when a rabbi asked to us help. i thought it was just to be abe to help and support the jewish community. >> a reward to catch those responsible is approaching, $20,000. the fbi is now investigating a new wave of threats against jewish institutions around the country. at least 29 jewish community centers and schools, in 17 states received bomb threats yesterday. a u.s. official tells cbs news that the calls appear to be coordinated and some may come from overseas.

five jewish centers received threats in pennsylvania, delaware, and new jersey. among them, the katz jewish community center in camden county. a rally is underway right now against hate and anti sematism montgomery county man is facing charges for recording videos inside a locker room at perkiomen valley high school. police say the suspect john lions junior walk in the school locker room during a swim meet february 18th. he is accused of using his cell phone to record video of feast mail swimmers. lions is awaiting a preliminary hearing on invasion of the privacy and related charges. chester county neighborhood is on high alert after a violent home invasion that injured an elderly resident. the seven two-year old victim told police that a man wearing all black attacked her, as she got out of her car last wednesday, and the beaten woman was found by relatives, four days later, locked inside of a closet of her creek road home in east brandywine. news of thins dent, has left neighbors we spoke with shaken up. >> statistically this area is

a very, very safe, low crime area, to live in, but such statistics are not much comfort when something like this happens. >> police are searching for suspect who did getaway with the victim's car, a 2013 silver fiat 500 with a pa license plate at jtj-0600. police are also looking for suspect who robbed a hunting park gross rid store on monday. as seen in this surveillance video suspect forced an employee of groceries object pike into an office where he threw a lottery machine to the ground. the victim told police he felt a handgun on his back. that suspect made off with 19,000 dollars. nine people were arrested after staging a sit in at senator pat toomey's philadelphia office today. police say they were arrested for disorderly conduct after refusing to leave his office, on jfk boulevard. the sit in lasted about an hour. the protesters were demanding that the senator hold an in person town hall meeting, senator toomey's office released a statement saying that staff met with protesters

last thursday, and were unavailable today because of an office move, scheduled for tomorrow. tonight president trump will outline his budget priorities, when he delivers his first speech to a joint session of congress. the president is keeping a busy schedule ahead of the speech. today he signed bills pro most ing women entrepreneur ship and careers in space exploration. he also signed two executive orders one bolsters support for historically black colleges and universities and others reviews how to protect small bodies of water from pollution. cbs news coverage of the president trump's address to congress starts at 9:00 o'clock tonight, followed by response from democrats. see it all here on cbs-3 and streaming live at cbs philly .com. joe biden visited the university of pennsylvania, for one of his first public appearances since leaving office, last month. the vice-president took part in a panel discussion on cancer in the 21st century. biden launched the moon shot cancer initiative from u penn

's abramson cancer center in january 2016. today's forum continued the conversation on the initiative 's progress. >> now it is in 24 hours once you identify the particular cancer, they can give you have single solitary therapy that has ever been used thus far on that cancer. increasing the oncologist will be able to pick the right thing to prescribe. >> the discussion also included leaders of the cancer research community in the united states. sepsis, a deadly infection that strikes out of no where has been called a medical emergency by federal health officials. pennsylvania health department is considering statewide protocols for hospitals so it can be found and also treated, faster to reduce the fatality. >> in tonight's healthwatch stephanie stall has more from local families devastated bicep cyst, who say that the regulations just can't come fast enough.

>> yes. jet guy. >> got it. >> six year-old kyle harvey is a play full first grader. >> i like science you like science. you must be really smart. >> yes. >> reporter: happy despite some difficulty challenges. >> he is stabilized, he has come a long way from a child who almost didn't make it. >> reporter: it happened out of no where when kyle was four , he got sick, fever, vomiting, not himself, at the hospital he was crashing. >> i remember saying to kristin i never felt so sad in my life. >> reporter: his parents john and kristin were bombarded, first they were told their little boy had sepsis, potentially deadly infection. he was also diagnosed with loose keep use. the blood cancer was manageable but sepsis infection was more dire. >> we could see that his legs, and his fingers were already starting to turn black from the septic shock that destroyed his limbs. >> reporter: kyle ended up having both legs amputated and fingers on one hand. >> it is not what you ever think, that your job is going to be a prosthetic for the

rest of his life but you'll take him any way you can. >> reporter: chris who lives in plymouth meeting wasn't as lucky his 15 year-old daughter emily died from a sepsis infection. >> her smile lit up a room. they loved her. >> reporter: sepsis, some called called blood poisoning kills 258,000 americans every year, that is because it is often not identified and treated quickly enough. >> it is equivalent to two jetliners crashing every day who dies from sepsis. >> reporter: difference between life and death depends on sepsis protocols in hospital where suspected cases are quickly treated. >> if they had proper protocols in place she would still ab live to daze. >> reporter: now push is on for pennsylvania to adopt statewide sepsis protocols, and in other states, that have them, research shows, that lives are saved, and money too >> to have a protocol, eliminates possibility of, human error. >> it is statewide you don't need to think twice bit. >> reporter: for now her thoughts are focused on giving

e-z pass is coming to cape may county bridge west a possible coal hike. cape may county bridge commission says e-z pass will be installed on the following bridges, before the summer season: courses inlet, grassy sound, middle thoroughfare, ocean city-longport and towns end's inlet to pay for that e-z pass april 27th the commission will decide on a one dollar seasonal toll increase and a 50 cents off season toll increase, as well.

well, local organization, in philadelphia is celebrating the last day of black history month by giving back to the community. >> mercy life and mercy home health are donating 450 boxes of cereals and dozens of jars of peanut butter and jell toy families. donations were collected over last two months and they will benefit families of mercy neighborhood ministries of philadelphia. now, to an amazing find, a lost wallet is returned after 65 years. >> as "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves shows you there was no money inside but instead there was something to see even more valuable. >> reporter: this wallet, in this man's hands is an emotional reunion of sorts. >> it is the last weber to hold it was 65 years ago. >> reporter: zach rememberer, adam weber's late father. >> his initials. >> reporter: harry christian wallet belonged to him but was lost back in 1952, just last week, adam got a call. >> first i thought it was a crank call.

>> reporter: contractor renovating this home in fair less hills found the wallet in the bathroom wall, more than six decades ago, adam's father did tile work in that bathroom where the home was being built it seems somehow perhaps in the chaos of construction, the wallet got sealed up behind the medicine cabinet. >> his whole, everything that he cared about at that time. >> reporter: adam is grateful that the new contractor figured out a way to get wallet back to weber's family. >> nice way to reconnect again >> reporter: since his father passed in 2005 adam only had a few things to remember his father by. this clock, and a sign outside the family's home, and now, something more personal. >> the one thing that hit me was the, was the wedding picture because, i'm sorry, because i hadn't seen it in 12 years. >> reporter: something adam had never seen because this wallet predates him and his father's draft card, his father's weekly pays stub of $151 and even this old picture

of a rocket 88, his car his dad always brags about. >> i thought he was kidding me about his rocket 88. i said what the heck is a rocket 88. >> reporter: ukee and jessica i said it was fun to re discover his father. adam weber is thinking about hiding a wallet of his own in his walls for his children to find one day. live from the news center, alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> family tradition. >> alycia, thank you. kate bilo joins us now with our forecast, and, all right, break it down, break it down, 70's, 30's, 50's, 20's, maybe some snow. >> we have a little bit of everything. >> yes, these storms tomorrow is what you want to focus on first. tomorrow we have threat for severe weather. storms are getting underway in the midwest and they are nasty under a moderate risk there and we have tornado warnings active across portions of illinois. it doesn't look like it will bet that bass tomorrow but it is same system for tomorrow afternoon, that is what will

eventually put an end to this extreme warmth. we have actually tied a record today here in philadelphia way high of 68. we will make a run for record tomorrow which is 76. we will do it within a degree or two. then everything changes. we will see that it is still winter at least for next 21 days or so. lets look outside, start off on storm scan three, lots here , one batch of rain mainly moving to the south of us, south of the pennsylvania border but we are seeing rain in the city. portions of delaware and chester counties. you can see that extend down to the gulf coast. that is first impulse that is coming through this evening. so, right now we are starting to see steady downpours. you saw greg there in radnor township, portions of montgomery county into chester and delaware counties and right about poised to move over i-95 in new castle county delaware we have steady downpours right now that is impacting center city philadelphia waiting for someone to get home they may be delayed thanks to the rain that has picked up. but worst of it tonight is what is happening across

midwest, these storms just getting underway. you can see these super cell thunderstorms. we have tornado warnings especially with that one just south and west of chicago. these will join in tie squall line later tonight and into tomorrow morning and some of that may even survive and get here in the much weakened state tomorrow morning. here's what this looks like. through next couple of hours we have some steady rain and downpours. this model is too slow with it this is what we have right now but this could continue for next couple hours until 10 or 11. joining us tonight at 11:00 we will track chance for showers across portions of the shore points. that clears out. then we have to watch left overs from tonight's squall line. that could move through tomorrow morning. here's 9:00 a.m. a line of showers and thunderstorms moving across the philadelphia area into your afternoon hours we have a few discrete showers , possibly a strong thunderstorm around 2:00 p.m. area i'm more concern about is later in the day. it looks like greater risk for severe weather will be slight liz off to the south of us, especially portions of

kentucky, down into the deep south but we will get nasty, gusty thunderstorms, tomorrow evening, into this time tomorrow night five or 6:00 o'clock and these storms could produce damaging winds, hail and very heavy downpours as well as frequent lightening and we have to be on alert for isolated tornado somewhere across north east mid-atlantic region. heading in to friday where we have a chance for this clipper , producing some snow showers waking up friday morning and rain showers will mix in as well. not expecting any accumulation with that but it will be very odd to see snow falling on friday morning and it is dramatic drop in the weekend from 70's tomorrow to barely 40, on saturday. so overnight mild with showers and fog, for your wednesday, near record with those strong to severe thunderstorm especially in the afternoon but we cannot rule out thunderstorm anytime with that batch in the morning. another batch midday, friday morning we will wake up for chance for snow showers and then we can end, quiet, chilly saturday, warmer sunday but we will see some sun.

we will bring out their best, flyers where 40 minutes away from hosting colorado, avalanche lost eight out of 10 meanwhile flyers have their own issues. big lost of four out of five and six points out of the final wild card spot. this is their final game before tomorrow's trade deadline. the captain says they have to stay focused. >> big story of the year, trade deadline comes, there is a lot of rumors and speculation but at the end of the day, i think we need to focus on the right things.
