their biggest residency. >> now for february 28, 2017, this is "entertainment tonight". >> no one can stop talking about the crazy best picture mixup at the oscars but now someone is talking about something else during the ceremony, part of jimmy kimmel's stunt. now we're hearing from the map known to the world as gary from chicago, who revealed that he was in prison just days ago. >> while nearly 33 million people thought they thought a wide-eyed tourist from chicago was snapping pics of the stars -- >> gary, gary from chicago. >> three days prior to this the man in sweats, gary allen coe was released from prison after 20 years. he is a registered sex offender convicted in his teens of attempted rape. the development blew up after he

reveal status hours after becoming a celebrated hashtag. he spoke to abc 7. >> i'm the luckiest man in the world. >> gary and his fiance vickie and other tourists were set to appear last night on jimmy kimmel live but a rep for the show told "e.t." today we cancelled the appearance after the creators made the decision to focus on other topics. sources tell "e.t." producers selected tourist at random on hollywood boullvard. one source adding they picked whom ever they felt looked interesting. one source claims there was no additional vetting and while the tourists did sign what they thought was standard release it turned out to be a release to appear on television. we reached out to the academy who wouldn't comment but a source did tell us two plain-clothed security guards were on the tour bus which was swept by security and the tourists had to pass through a metal detector as they entered the theater. >> this is ryan gosling. very handsome.

his name is brian cullinen, who has been called a matt damon look-alike. >> we stood back stage and hand the envelope to the presenter right before they walk out. >> he is blasted in the new york tabloids, partly because three minutes before best picture announced, he tweeted this image of oscar-winner emma stone back stage. that is raising the question of whether the accountant was distracted just before he handed warren beatty the wrong envelope. the academy's official policy is no photography inside the dolby theater at any time and source tells "people" magazine that brian was asked not it tweet or use social media during the show. cullen hasn't commented on the incident. he has been on the oscar ballot routine since 2014 and his firm has proudly promoted its partnership with the oscars. >> 24 categories. we have the winners in sealed envelopes. >> regardless, a lot of people are wondering if cullinen will be reprimanded.

♪ i think i love you >> did you know three of the backstreet boys weren't even born when that guy, david cassidy, was the world's biggest teen idol. last week the partridge family star made headlines when he announced he had dementia. many wonder if his battle with the bottle is part of the diagnosis. now he is opening up with dr. phil and cameron mathis has the details. >> he flatly denies there was any alcohol involved in that whatsoever, before or during the performance. >> david is blaming the disastrous performance outside of l.a. ten days ago when he was slurring his words and stumbling on stage, on dementia. and tells dr. phil he was diagnosed over two years ago. >> when family members begin to say to you, remember i just told you this, two days ago.

and there's no memory of it. very concerned. i began to be >> is that what caused you to say, i need to get myself checked? >> oh, my god, yes. >> but dr. phil is somewhat skeptical about david's claims of sobriety that night. >> a lot of professionals i talked to felt like that behavior is more consistent with intoxication. >> that is amplified in a sense -- symptoms of dementia. >> it certainly does. it if you introduced any toxins to the brain when it is diseased, that's bad combination. >> david's dementia was foreshadowed years earlier. >> cassidy's mother, actress, evelyn ward died of alzheimer's related dementia at age 89. >> what are your plans as you continue on this journey?

>> my mother's last two years of her life, i would completely disappear and be a burden to care takers. and couldn't walk, couldn't talk, couldn't sing, couldn't play. that's kind of my greatest fear, actually. >> are you having trouble performing? >> no. >> as for david's assessment of his now infamous show -- >> i asked him how he thought the concert went. he thought it went just terrific. >> now david told dr. phil he has no problem ending his touring. he has two shows left. his final is saturday night in new york city. >> meanwhile, cher is still going strong at 70. i mean strong. we will show you how the ladies of the talk got in on her act today and it is pretty fabulous. when we come back.
