"eyewitness news" this morning begins with breaking news, gunfire in philadelphia's mt. airy section, we're toll there are several victims. we're live sorting out the details. >> and, a vision to transform philadelphia's waterfront is now closer to reality. finds out the price tag, what neighbors think about it. >> president trump stands by his attorney who steps aside from the investigation into alleged russian meddling in the presidential campaign. well today is friday, march 3rd, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. tgif. so we check on weather, and checking the roads with meisha this morning. >> good morning, we've waited all week for this day. are you excited? it is finally here. i know i am too. good morning, the roads are looking okay, i'll say okay a lot of activity out there including water main break, accident, construction, the

whole bit. quiet weather for the most part. it will come in, reinforce the chill, so very likely see couple of snowflakes, i don't think you have to worry about anything, one thing sticking let alone accumulating but start things offer outside actually making very own snow. that's what they've got to do at this point, because we don't have any nature made snow cover across the entire tri-state area. so here we go to jack frost, big boulder, they are in fact looks like making their own snow, getting the slopes as fresh and prepared as any of the skiers come out maybe for long weekend. we take you next to "skycam 3" locally, just from our very own rooftop. clear as a bell, clear as can be, the other good news, i throw the current conditions over top of it the winds has certainly eased up. not going to be battling it out there when you walk out the door, granted, little breezy, but it is not that vicious like dorothy and toto type of winds that we had to deal with yesterday. 34 degrees the temperature, still northwest winds, it is

made to feel that much colder more like the mid 20's. bundle up. storm scan3 pretty quiet. there you have it out across maryland, couple every light snow showers beginning to fire up out there. this is clipper system, bee their nature they don't have a lot of moisture. i don't anticipate more than couple of scattered showers, primarily snow, but you may see some raindrops mixed as well. that will will dot the area radar throughout the course of the midday. meantime walking out the door this morning do you have to bundle up. it is in the 30's, 20's, it is feeling about five to even 10 degrees colder than any time the winds blows. meisha? >> did feel chilly walking in this morning, katie, thank you so much. if you just heard it over at the desk, a lot of issues already this morning, so, first things first. looking at the vine, little earlier, that's where we had some overnight construction, but first, weaver an accident out here, the blue route southbound past baltimore pike. you can see it pulled off to the right. flashing lights blocking the lane, as will force you to put on your brakes, an area that's

probably going to start you down just little bit. also, construction, 42 southbound the off ramp to 295 that's closed, 295 to route 342 closed, also left lane blocking leading up to 295 ramp, just heads up on that as well. also, water main break i had mentioned, egg harbor city main street at philadelphia avenue. we put alternate in here southbound avenue probably your best bet. heads up on this. this happened about i would say probably about an hour ago. then we also have another accident haverford road, heads up on this, more to come in about ten to 15 minute, rahel, jim, over to you. >> for now we want to start with breaking news in the city mt. airy section. >> four people shot overnight on germantown avenue. let's get right out to "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo just got update from police, jan, what can you tell us? >> jim, rahel, good morning, we just spoke to philadelphia police they tell us a group of about 20 people just behind me here in mt. airy overnight at a bar and restaurant listening to music. when the restaurant closed

around 2:00 a.m., the crowd spilled out into the street, a fight broke out, and then someone pulled out a gun. four people in all were shot including a woman who was bartending here overnight. police say she was trying to break up the fight when she was shot. now, police were in the area when they heard those gunshots. they returned here to the 7100 block of germantown avenue to find that woman injured and cars racing away from the scene. one of those cars actually crashed into a pole just six blocks away at germantown and upsal. twenty-six year old man was in the car and taken to the hospital. he is now in critical condition this morning. while north detectives were investigating here at the scene, they got word that two other men, a 25 year old and 26 year old also showed up at area hospital shot now in stable condition. police are now trying to sort out exactly what happened here overnight. and what sparked the argument that turned violent. investigators believe that all of the victims and the shooter were inside of the bar and restaurant before the shooting happened. >> so we're pretty confident with so many victims, so many

witnesses, and so many cameras, that we're going to solve this shooting rather quickly. >> now, police have a whole lot to process here at the scene. they found eight spent shell casings, they've not found a weapon just yet. but they do have number of cars to search this morning. they are awaiting search warrants, and here at the scene, north detectives are investigating it was a chaotic scene. gunshot, bullet holes, couple of the businesses here, again, four people injured during the shooting, three in stable condition including the bar tends here was trying to break up the fight. that 26 year old found in a car joust blocks from the scene is now in critical condition. we will continue to bring you up-to-date on the story, for now, liver in mt. airy, back to you. >> thank you for that report. >> proposal for penn's landing make over has been five years in the making. >> the large scale project could be just around the corner. take a look at the plan for phillies now delaware river waterfront. total of $250 million has been pledged for the park so far.

it will extend over i-95 and columbus boulevard from chestnut to walnut. some folks we talked to are embracing the idea. >> i think it will be good for the city. i think it will be good for the community, i think it will be good for the kids and families it, will give them something to do. >> always grade great to have more things like this, engage out in the sit, bring in more revenue, people spending money and enjoying building up the community. >> the goal is to make it a year around destination with ice skating in the winter and green space in the summer. >> meanwhile, repair crews will soon be working to fix this big pothole that opened up in the street in the port richmond neighborhood, at east clearfield and coral street t damaged at least one vehicle that got stuck in the hole. >> president trump says he has total confidence in attorney general jeff sessions, it comes as sessions facing mounting calls to resign following reports he was in contact with russian officials during the 2016 campaign. sessions is recusing himself from investigations into

alleged russian interference in the election, now admits to meeting with russia's ambassador to the u.s. twice while he was a top advisor to the trump campaign and a senator. sessions had failed to reveal this during his confirmation hearings. >> in retrospect, i should have slowed down and said but i did meet one russian official, a couple of times. >> the attorney general, top cop in our country, lied under oath. >> on capitol hill most republicans say sessions did the right thing by recusing himself while democrats are calling for his resignation. >> you may recall during the campaign vice president mike pence criticized clinton's use of private e-mail service, now pence used prove al e-mail company for public business, while governor every indianna. siting public records, says vice president did not break any laws and that any comparison to clinton's emails - >> philadelphia's sweet

beverage tax was the focus while revealing the fiscal year. says the money from the tax already made a difference in the lives of many philadelphians. >> the date the philly beverage tax has funded 2,000 free quality pre k seats and nine community schools serving 4500 student. >> now, outside every city hall dozens protested the tax. pepsi is laying off workers at three distribution plants that serve philadelphia. the company blames the soda tax for declining sales. >> parent and grandparent are unhappy over plans to shut down camden community charter school in june. the new jersey department of education rejected the charter school's renewal application. state officials say the schools test scores the lowest among the charter schools in camden. the decision leaves nearly 700 student looking for another school. >> for me to start at another place, another school, is, you know, i'm not really happy about that. >> i don't know about anybody he will, but they get good

report cards, and to close the school, i don't know what's going on over there. >> camden community charter school plans to fight the decision calling it extremely disappointing, and completely unwarranted. >> the death toll at a house fire in small oregon town has risen to # people. blames it on portable space heater apparently placed too close to combustible materials. the family bought it to stay warm until they could get their fireplace row placed. their fireplace repaired. victims including mother and five children ages four to 13, the father in critical condition. >> teenager in custody in connection with chester county home invasion. police say the 17 year old suspect originally from thailand ran away from devereaux east brandywine campus, that's behavioral health facility, tying up, beating, trying to strangle 72 year old woman at east brandywine township, and the teen wrapped the victim's head in a plastic bag, and tolls dollars her in a storage room where she was found alive, four days later.

part every western pennsylvania, as women, these will come through in very scattered fashion throughout the dayment looks like mainly through midday, afternoon, maybe even as late as early evening, but all so scattered, that it is worth a mention because it is the s words. so but you won't see much if any accumulation out of this. there may be quick little burst of the snow to potentially briefly reduce your visibility. but here go. it is all so scattered, this there will be spots that don't see anything out of this, notice, little pink, little green showing up, may see some raindrops or a sweep comes out of this, but so quick moving with the clipper and very moisture starved system. then it is out of here, we're in the clear through the majority of the weekends. future snow amounts, take to you 1:00 p.m. before anything would even show up for accumulation, but what you will notice is that even though you get a .1, wilmington, philly, what happens is, even if this tries to stick, it will not accumulate, because the grounds is so warm. so, with that said, it is just more of a non-event than anything, certainly again, if you have some snow showers, 34 t

the airport at the movement. still, a tad breezy, but not windy like we had yesterday, and moving forward, we do eventually rebounds, but we are in for couple of chilly and very winter like days, meisha? >> looking outside, looking at the vine, closed overnight for the construction, looks like that's now been cleared. also i want to point out for very early friday morning, not even in the 5:00 hour, looking busier than what we see on the vine. on my way in i did see an accident earlier, long since cleared, but not quite sure why looking so busy on a friday morning, something to make note if you jump out on the vine. police activity, 59 north before the walt whitman bridge, heads up on this, flashing light there, probably going to tap your brakes here traveling on vine, but overall nothing to be concerned about yet. that's 95 north before the walt whitman bridge. now, we do have some construction, 42, 295. that's closed. 295 north off ramp to route 42 is closed and also the left

money news. >> jill, good morning, so market actually pulled back a bit yesterday. what are investors watching today? >> reporter: well, janet yellen is giving a speech in chicago today, investors watching for any type of insight into whether the feds could raise interest rates again. there are a lot of expectations that the fed will vote for a rate hike at it meeting in march. one factor is a strong job market that we're seeing. jim, rahel. >> so jill, there was big ipo yesterday snapped the company behind snap chat. how did it go? >> reporter: it was a huge success, shares jumped 40% on the first day of trading think close at about $24 a share, it, values at about $28 billion, put that in perspective, more than macy ', the biggest since twit nerve 2013. analysts say the success of snap could encourage other companies like uber or air b and b to go public.

>> welcome back, a clipper system today will bring with it some snow showers. now, before we panic, they're very scat nerds nature. they should have a very difficult time sticking, let alone accumulating. you can already, however, see that what the cold air has brought us is a widespread batch of, again, very scattered on the radar, most of it obviously hasn't even reached us yet. do have snow showers rolling through parts of the chesapeake bay, maryland state, all headed our way with time. it generally will happen through midday. now looking at the temperature change, yes, it is a lot colder out there, guys. is it anywhere near as windy as yesterday? thankfully not. but it is still breezy, throughout the day. i think you might see gusts

tonight specially as high as 30 miles per hour in the wake of this clipper. so they're doing the math, though, in your head here, that means that we're back down into the 30's, even 20's in some spots. so it is a colder day obviously, and by comparison to recent days, this is going to feel a, like a rude awakening, b, heck of a lot more like wintertime. take a look at the seven day, granted the mild days are returning for those of that you can't stand highs only in the 30's. but it does take a while until we hit next mid week, the time we will see milder air work it way back in. for now no major storms in site for the next couple of days. meisha? >> that will be nice, katie, little relief maybe a little bit. thank you so much. looking outside, lot of flashing lights out there. this is police activity, 59 north, this is before the walt whitman bridge. heads up on this. kind of keeping our eye on this area right now. because it is still early, it is still very dark. obviously we will have some factors going into play there, especially how dark it is, typically friday morning i would say not so much to worry, it will be lighter travel day.
