>> we could see no showers today, the bigger story is the frigid temperatures this weekend. good morning, i'm rahel solomon. >> i'm jim donovan. katie and meisha will be along here in a moment. here's what you need to know to get your day started in the morning minute. >> four people are shot overnight in philadelphia's mt. airy section. >> the group of about 20 people was just behind miata bar and restaurant, listening to music. a fight broke out. then someone pulled out a gun. >> i have recused myself. >> attorney general, jeff sessions, said he will not take part in any investigations into the trump presidential campaign. which revealed sessions met with russia's ambassador to the u.s. twice. >> speaking of donald trump, and while his attorney general was going up in flames, trump was down in virginia, addressing the military in newport news, or as he calls it, new pork news.

>> a crazy car chase overnight in the san fernando valley california. >> oh, oh, popped out. >> the driver ditched the vehicle under an overpass. >> that is the suspect right there. >> later seen jumping fences. >> very crazy ends. thank goodness nobody was injured. >> we're told the chase began when the license plate didn't match the car. >> good thing no one was hurt. all right, let's get out to katie. talking about potentially some snow showers today. but maybe even more importantly, it is very cold out there. >> i would say yes, i'm glad you said that, i would say these snow showers may sound like the main headline, but really is just how cold it is outside at the moment. at best, we will top off around who degrees here today, that's below average. so quickly looking at storm scan3, already, you can see, few signs of life across maryland, chesapeake bay area, now crossing over into kent county. may begin to see couple of snows flakes there, i'll be relying on my weather watchers

to let us know what you're finding out there. most of you are finding very light breeze at this point, and a clear sky. but when we zoom it out one time, see the clipper system in a little more intensity or little more widespread coverage. it doesn't have a lot of moisture, but will bring in as we mention scattered snow showers primarily through midday. low 30's where we under currently top off wilmington and philly, up i95 toward trenton, too, kind of rule of thumb around most of the board here, you're within that freezing mark by couple every degrees, or just above it. outside the city, into some of the more outlying more remote suburbs, like pottstown, 26. so, yes, it is cold, guys. winter has made its come back. it will hang out for couple every days here. but snow showers, the key here, guys, it will be scattered for one thing, very light coverage, i don't think if anything at all you'll see much accumulation out of this, at worse meisha maybe dusting but that would be very, very, again, much the exception than the norm. >> even dusting seems like a lot now that we're in march,

make over now looking more like reality. >> and i am looking forward to it. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at penn's landing with more on the city's plans for it new park. good morning, trang. >> good morning, you mentioned five short years ago there is was proposal on paper. but thanks to major infusion this week there is area you see here will be dramatically trans forward in just a matter of years. >> penn's landing is getting a $225 million overhaul that will connect the riverfront to the rest of the city. >> this project, we believe, will be truely transformed. >> the delaware river waterfront is planning the 11-acre park, which president corker and will extend over i95 and columbus boulevard, between chestnut and walnut. >> i think it will be an amazing place, public space, that will be 4-acre cap over the highway, that will have all times of activities, and then 7-acre beautifully landscaped park down to the

river. >> will also change with the season. skating rink in the winter, and more green space in the summer. people who live in the area like jena epstein are thrilled. >> i'm excited. i think it look good for the city, for the community, kids being families, give them something to do. >> earlier this week mayor jim kenney pledged $9 million for the park. penndot is contributing 115 million, and thursday, the william penn foundation announced a $50 million contribution leaving 10 million unfunded. initial investment is expected to pay off in hundreds of millions in economic impact for years to come. >> always great to have more things like this, get people out, engaged in the city, bring in more revenue in the sit, people spending money and enjoying, you know, building up the community. >> and construction on this park is expected to take five years, and we're also told that construction should start as early as the ends of this year. for now live in penn's landing, trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." jim, rahel, back to you.

>> one local's boy swim team has dominated philadelphia's catholic league. >> pat gallen live in winds more at lasalle college high school with a look at what it takes to be so successful. good morning, pat. >> reporter: yes, it takes hard work and dedication, as you can imagine, and they certainly have that here at lasalle high school. they have 29 straight philadelphia catholic league titles. they've done a lot of work this this pool. now, last week i got a chance to come out and check out practice. they go full speed. they go hard. and they have an exceptional team that's getting ready for

the state championship. we'll take a look. >> sports dynasties are as impressive as the lasalle boy's swim team. their run of catholic league titles have reached ridiculous 29 state years. >> i was a swimmer here as part of that, frank was our long time coach. and i've taken over for frank, and kind of continued the tradition that he had set for the. >> he was head coach through 25 of the championships before passing away in 2015 after battle with cancer. but extension of his legacy can be found in last season's state title their fifth straight, and the 2016 national swimming championship. this year the kids just hope to keep the fun going. >> we have a great team this year. and we lost couple of seniors last year, to bucknell, and i couldn't be more excited to finish off. >> and these swimmers aren't messing around. they're dedicated to keeping the championship streak alive. >> freshman year you come, in not used to doing the two a

day's, monday, tuesday, thursday, friday morning, and every afternoon, then saturday, too, but i mean, the more you do it, the more you get used to it. >> but the coach isn't worried about them being red. >> i there are some freshman, but with the young men we get coming to the school, the caliber of athletes that they are, student athletes, you get them in motion, and, you know, the rest takes care of it self. >> now i'm always so impressed by high school kids that do two a day's and these guys do it four days a week, and you heard them, that includes saturdays. so their schedule is incredible outside of the school work that they have to do. so coming up in two weekends, they'll be up at buck necessary university from march 15th until the 18th going for state title number six. and what's fun bye lasalle high school, there are just so many people have taken part in this championship streak of 29 straight years in the catholic league, i posted on social media yesterday that i would be here, and friend, and

friends every friends reached out, hirple, i was part of this team or went to that school, part of those 29 years. so really extends throughout the country of people all over the place that have been part of this. so coming up in about a half hour, as i said, the kids will be in the pool. we will talk to another captain from this team, his name is jake, and he's going to usc next year. so you know top notch talent here at lasalle high school. we'll talk to their coach to see what he says to the kids to get them prepared for the high school. here live at lasalle high school, should i jump in? i didn't bring my speedo. >> do it. pat, i was jug going to say, we're all very impressed by the student, but we would be really impressed if you bared it all, not all, but -- >> nearly it all. >> down to the speedo. >> i don't know. i don't know. >> is mom watching? >> we'll see. >> no. i like those swimsuits that cover from head to tow from the 1930's, you know those striped garments.

we do have some nature made snow that's coming along today. so, with that said, checking in with the eyewitness weather watchers, that's the time of morning we like to do that. we have a lot of folks up and reporting this morning, chill in the air though. boy, take a look. out in chester county we go, 29 degrees this morning from fred. doesn't have a.m. don't but has cloud cover. very light wind just 2 miles per hour for him. that's something that has substantially eased up since this same time yesterday. to another spot we go, across the river, well into new jersey, mark reporting nice clear skies actually outs in chats words. most finding clear sky, but clipper beginning to advance, helping to bring in some of the clouds little further off to the best. going outside of the city very briefly here, 30 degrees from bill this morning, does have clear sky, as well. also had a don't, we saw winter was over, ya, not so fast say old-man-winter. yes, you know there is weekend it will be a cold one for sure. and had cold front earlier in the week if you recall the storms rolled through couple of days ago, meanwhile storm

scan showing this latest clipper system, clipper system basically one big job, that's to reinforce the cold. they don't usually have moisture content with them. this one does not. it will bring in little bit of wet weather in the form of scattered snow showers for our area. on the horizon, there is generally just high pressure waiting in the wings. we will see more beautiful weather really than anything for the weekends, just cold outside. now, could you see any of these snow showers stick? perhaps. grassy coating here and there. but most of us are just going to see the flakes flying in the sky. that said still colder than average here today, still quite breeze breezy, not the winds of yesterday thank goodness. but it is still going to be noticeable, especially with temperatures that only hoffer near or hit 40 the next couple every days, you will need to keep that winter coat handy i think, meisha. >> yes, did you put it away yet? >> i already have, yes. because for me, it feels warm. so i kind of put it away right away. ya, that's, you nailed it. katie thank you so much. looking outside into new jersey, 42 freeway northbound creek road. what we are looking at right
