like a ton of bricks. >> because we are going from the 70's to the 30's, this is so typical for this time of the year for delaware valley. pretty incredible. it could be worse. 7 degrees is our railroaded low. >> think about that one. >> exactly. may feel like 7 degrees when you factor in the wind in some spots later tonight and tomorrow morning as heart of the cold air really settles in we will have a lot of sunshine but it will really struggle to help temperatures out. we will be stuck in the 30's for actual numbers. we are starting to see brightening in the skies, half an hour away from sunrise right now and that will change in about a week as we get back today light savings time, sunrising later during morning but right now 24 at the airport, west wind at eight feeling like 15 on exposed skin. temperatures range from 10 to the mid 20's along the shore we are feeling that cold air. 26 degrees in wildwood. ocean at 43. ocean is warmer then air. nineteen in quakertown and doylestown at this hour. still enough breeze around 10

in new jersey on 295 southbound right after you pass 206, right here near boarden even town, right lane closed there, your alternate is 130. pottstown we have fire department activity at high street at york bailey streets. they are on the scene there for a building fire so expect traffic tie ups in that area as they work, your alternate to avoid that is king street. here's a live lot a the vine running smoothly as most majors are this morning, however, just a reminder if you are taking the turnpike between pennsylvania and new jersey connection bridge there is still closed until at least april. in the cbs-3 traffic center i'm amanda muhler now back to you. >> thanks, amanda. an accident in north philadelphia has sent two people to the hospital. accident happened around 2:30 at north fifth and west york streets. both victims are now at temple university hospital, in word on their injuries. investigators are trying to pinpoint what sparked a fire in west philadelphia, the call came in right around 12:30 for a fire in the three story building near 52nd and delancey.

it was under control in a half an hour. gunfire hits a man and a school bus, school bus rather with children on board in philadelphia's logan neighborhood. they were not the intended targets, meantime police may have an important clue in the search for a motive. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live at northwest detectives to bring us up to date on the investigation, good morning, anita. good morning, jan this violent encounter happened in broad daylight police say gunman fired more than 40 shots, from semi automatic weapons, and it did hit a school bus, passing by, though as you said it was not intended target. look at this video. this entire incident caught on camera. check out shattered glass on that bus and at least eight rounds fired into that school bus with people on board. this all unfolded just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon on the 4400 block of north 19th street near winghawking. a 58 year-old man was shot in the left ear and is in stable

condition at einstein medical center. that victim told police he was not the intended target and that the man he was talking to at the time may have been. now while that school bus the 47 year-old driver, a 20 year-old woman and 13 year-old girl were not hit, chief inspector scott small says philadelphia police crime cameras just a block from this crime scene captured a car with tinted windows parked at the intersection. >> it shows four males exiting that vehicle all wearing masks and dark clothing, and all four males are armed, with guns and these four males are firing the weapons. >> police are still looking for those four suspects. any one with information should call police. live at northwest detectives, i'm anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". police in montgomery county are looking for one of the two cars that hit a person in pottstown last night. chopper three over route 100

and shoemaker road. the victim died after being pinned underneath one of those cars, and police tell us that the driver who stayed on the scene is cooperating with the investigation, they say the other driver, kept on going. well, a historic house in camden county meets the wrecking ball, and a historian is saying it should never have happened. hug harrison glover house which dates back to the revolutionary war was torn down yesterday. was crush. >> it is sad, to add insult to injure they plan to pack it up in a dumpster and take it to the nearest landfill. >> reporter: the camden county historical society has worked tireless liz to preserve home once owned by william harrison junior and during the american revolution played a significant role. congressman donald norcross who was hopeful about a plan to relocate the 18th century structure said this, i'm deeply disappointed new jersey department of transportation destroyed the home without warning, despite our ongoing work to save the home. the demolition also came a day after the historical society filed a motion to obtain a injunction, that would halt any destruction to the property. mayor philiplick told "eyewitness news" that when questions, they were given permission by state attorney general's office to level the structure. spokesperson with the ag's office told us that they have no such authorities. the high waste drivers did not know the home by name they knew it by date.

the controversy i in washington over his administration's ties to russia. yesterday, he focused on education talking with students at a school in orlando. the president told reporters that education is the civil rights issue of our time and that is why he has asked congress to support a school choice bill. meantime, vice-president mike pence says that he complied with indiana's laws after reports emerged that he routinely used private e-mail account for state business as governor. as kim hutches son reports the vice-president is rejecting accusations of wrongdoing and comparisons with the controversy surrounding democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton. >> we have fully complied with all indiana's laws. >> reporter: vice-president mike pence defending his use of a personal e-mail account as governor and rejecting parallels with former presidential candidate hillary clinton. >> there is no comparison whatsoever between hillary clinton's practice. >> reporter: under indiana law state officials are allowed to

back on "eyewitness news", work to least open a busy bridge, connecting the pennsylvania and new jersey turnpike, it is on track to be completed next month. we have been telling but this closure on the delaware river bridge for several weeks now, and it has been shut down while workers try to fix a crack underneath the bridge. officials with the pennsylvania turnpike commission say that the good weather has helped speed up the least pair work and they expect to reopen up in early april. so justin, good weather helped that construction project. if you love cold weather we have good weather on tap today >> winter still hanging on and typical for march. we will get these 70-degree

days and we will get used to it. we can still get cold shots and even into april we have had had snow in the past. i will not say we will get that but we can still get cold air lingering around. to think next couple weeks we will have a few cold days and warm days back in the region next week. this morning we have a chilly start. we are looking live from margate, glassy conditions on the atlantic with off shore wind getting ready for a nice sunrise in about 15 minutes or so. little bit earlier as we approach daylight savings time which is a week away and then sun will be rising an hour later but setting an hour later at night. snowfall this season or lack of it, 8 inches for philadelphia we had a trace yesterday with snow squals. average to date 19.5. if we were on average we would have close to 20 inches that the point of the season but spring, officially arrives in over two weeks. monday march 20th. vernal equinox when sun alliance with the equator we will have 12 hours and nine minutes of daylight coming in about two weeks. cold air in place.

reason jet stream has taken another shift, southward, it has been like this all winter long. we will get warm up, another cold shot of air. there is arctic air bottled up in canada. good snow pack here. that colds air is moving southward so temperatures running 10 degrees below average. it will feel more like mid to late january. tonight even colder, it could be coldest night since early january of this year. not much happening today those that is good news. if you are traveling today you don't to have worry about those intense snow squals, maybe mountains of the central pennsylvania, upstate new york we will find those snow showers but majority of the delaware valley stays dry. a lot of sunshine and high pressure least mains in control. this blocks any storms from developing throughout the weekend. we have got sun going for us today but still we will struggle to get to the upper 30's for actual daytime high temperatures. sunday looks good but still on the cold side, and it will be less windy. then notice some clouds, trying to come in here especially by monday afternoon that is a sign of the warmer air that makes a return for middle of next week but here's

the key for today, focus on the wind chills. this is what it feels like when we factor in the wind. through the morning hours, a lot of teens, so, it could feel as warm as 18 degrees around philadelphia, heading in the afternoon it is not much better. teens to the north, sickle digit in the poconos. mid 20's at best for those wind chills, down into south jersey and then later on tonight it will get worse. look at these values, down in the single digits even around philadelphia, 7:00 o'clock tomorrow morning could feel like 8 degrees in philadelphia near zero at times, in some spots and then wind chills will get better tomorrow afternoon. into the mid 20's. still cold for this time of the year, high temperature of only 38 degrees, and our under mostly sunny skies. we are running 10 degrees below average, should be close to 50. winds gusting to 30 miles an hour later to daze and then tonight, another very cold night, lows around 20 for the city, so that means suburbs dropped down well into the teens, probably a lot of mid teens just north of the city, interior south jersey with the clear skies and winds start to

light even up a little bit. make it coldest night since january 10th, we will remember that arctic blast that moved n check out overall trends, not much better tomorrow, 40 degrees for the high temperature. close to average. that 40 may be generous but at least we have some sunshine once again, and then we will warm it up to the lower 50's on monday, still quiet with a few more clouds. our next storm system will move in on tuesday bringing in some showers around especially during the afternoon hours. it is mild. back to the lower 60's and then once that front moves through we will cool off but still close to average by the end of the week, and temperatures right around 50 degrees next thursday, and friday, so jan, that looks like the trend through at least mid month, cool days, followed by a warm up. we will get used to it. >> we will take it, thanks, justin. new concerns about teenagers using mar juan, on this morning's healthwatch, doctors are noticing an alarming trend with teens as well as marijuana all around the country. health reporter stephanie stahl has more on the new warnings. >> reporter: nation's pediatricians are beefing up their warnings about teenagers and marijuana use, new report

freezing in the counties so we decided to torture meteorologist justin drabick and send him outside on the cbs-3 sky deck. how are you feeling, justin. >> cold. i have the heavy coat on. you know it is cold if i'm wearing a coat on the skies deck even out here for a minor so you will feel it. we are a few minutes from the sunrise, nice sunrise, clear skies, but that sun will not help out much. in the car today driving the sun will feel strong but outside it hits you in the face. talking about nasty wind chills this morning. temperatures in the lower 20's in the coldest spots even some teens, 19 right now in reading , it is 24 degrees officially at philadelphia international airport, upper teens in millville, even the coast feeling the chill of 26 in wildwood. nineteen both in doylestown, quakertown, 23, mount holly, new jersey. that is half of the battle. we have to deal with the wind and enough to bring wind chills down to the single digits in some locations feeling like nine in allentown , 17 in dover delaware, minus five in mount pocono. ski resorts are cranking out

it is miraculous that everyone including innocent bystanders survived. this whole incident caught on cameras take a look at this video, now of the window shattered out of this bus at least eight bullet holes penetrating, the body of the bus this all unfolded just before 4:30 yesterday afternoon in logan on the 4400 block of north 19th street near wingohawking street. we know that a 58 year-old man shot in the left ear is in stable condition at einstein medical center, that victim tells police that he was not intended target and he believes man he was talking to at the time may have been. on that school bus was a 47 year-old driver, a 20 year-old woman and 13 year-old girl but none of them were hit. chief inspector scott small says philadelphia police crime cameras just a block away showed a car with tinted windows parked at the intersection. >> it shows four males, exit that vehicle, all wearing mask s, and dark clothing, and

all four males are armed with guns and those four males are firing the weapons. >> reporter: now police are still looking for those four suspects. anyone with any information should call the police. we're live in northwest detectives i'm anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". philadelphia police are pausing to remember a fallen officer nearly two years after his death. twenty-second district will hold vigil and balloon release in memory of sergeant robert wilson at 4:00 this afternoon. on march 5th 2015 sergeant wilson went in the game stop to buy his young son a gift. he tried to stop a robbery in that shore and was shot to death. police say sergeant wilson's bravery saved the lives of the other people in that store that day. a neighbor rushed in the burning row home to save a young boy in kensington. fire happened on the 3200 block of e street, that man ran through flames to rescue a four year-old lit boil who had his phone and was about to

call 911. that child and his grandparents are now in the hospital. "eyewitness news" spoke with that neighbor who is now being praised as a hero. >> we got him out of the kitchen. he had black stuff on his face almost fell down the steps. >> the child and the grandparents are in serious condition, the cause of the fire is under investigation. meantime a seven year-old little boy became a hero when he put what he learned about emergency situationness to practice. "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown has story from evesham township. >> i just, could not breathe, i could not talk. >> reporter: heart pounding moments for danielle friday morning as she lied on the floor gasping for air after battling bronchitis and asthma attack. she was getting her seven year-old son rocco ready for school when the courageous little boy stepped into a life saving moment. >> i didn't know what to do at first. but i was like, oh, what do i

do and then she said call 911. >> reporter: yes. >> we have taught him how to call 911. i have a lot of medical issues , how do you know if mommy is feeling this way or that way, what do i do. >> reporter: rocco told emergency dispatchers what was hatching. >> when he asked me the questions and what happened and stuffy answered them. >> and then either of these buttons. >> reporter: medicines innings arrived rocco was comforting his mother while crews comforted him. >> and then he came in and they were keeping me, busy, i don't have to worry about what was happening. >> while danielle was rushed to the hospital rocco channeled his inner super hero as he helpedded off to school. >> they walk out, for school with a super manhattan, when he walk out the door. that tells you right there, right? >> yeah. >> reporter: when asked about how he felt about what he had done. >> a little nervous, and a little bit like a hero. >> reporter: a lot more like a hero in his grateful mother's

limb crashed through his ceiling landing where he says he would have been brushing his teeth. bowling calls it divine intervention, but it is his alarm clock that is getting props on line, #saved by the snooze, it is now trending. and a lehigh valley woman spent years, struggling to lose weight, and it wasn't until she ended up in the er that doctors discovered what was growing inside of her. jamie ukiss picks up the story >> reporter: yes. >> this is my closet. >> reporter: meet mary clancy, largest shirt in her closet is size 32, which she fit into in november. >> three of you could now fit in it. >> yeah, and i have nothing to wear right now, today. >> reporter: that is because mary lost 180 pounds in just one day. >> what did you think was happening. >> i was getting to be a fat little old lady. >> reporter: over course of the 17 years mary's weight kept creeping up until she was 365 pounds. >> i would go to the doctors and said let's do test and

everything would be great. >> reporter: it wasn't until she landed in the er at lehigh valley hospital that doctors discovered she had an ovarian cyst of 140 pounds. >> this is an anomaly. >> initially you can understand how it got missed when 5-pound tumor but at 140- pound tumor it is tough to miss it in that later stage. >> reporter: surgeons removed the tumor and had to least construct mary's abdominal wall and remove another 40 pounds of skin. >> her laying on the back flat compromises her breathing and blood vessels in the abdomen. we put her on her side. mass was on the operating table. reconstructive part was almost like being a taylor. >> reporter: now mary needs a taylor. >> everybody keeps telling me lie great. i don't look like myself. >> reporter: she's exited to start a whole new life as half of the person that she used to be. jamie ukiss for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and doctors say that this

ski resorts, loving it right now, cranking out snow, check it out we will go live to big boulder right now where it is like a blizzard right there with the sun out and they are building back their base, that they lost from the recent warm weather, but still, conditions have been decent, and it will be a good weekend. if you had are planning to do skiing, riding you will need goggles. they will have these guns running with the cold arctic air in place and able to extend the ski season for a few more weeks. check out that ski report, 48 in jack frost, big boulder. lost a couple of trails but probably will be able to open them up again when they throw down new snow. still you up to 48 in camelback, blue mountain still in good shape with 33 trails opened as of yesterday evening so all weekend long, ideal skiing conditions. in problems getting up to the resorts with dry conditions across the region. now, cold air arctic air settled in behind this front that brought snow squals yesterday. it moves off shore, replace by high pressure but brings in cold air with the northwesterly wind flow. snow pack in can inadequacies, cold air rushing in, temperatures today struggled

to get 10 degrees below average. with the cold dry air in place we have had breezes around, elevated fire risk, through the day to daze, across the delaware valley. wind gusting to 30 to 35 miles an hour. relative humidity less than 30 . those are prime conditions, to develop, some wild fires, there so watch out for opened flames, just be careful. they can be spread in conditions like this. today, certainly tomorrow, as well. not much happening right now though on storm scan three for mid-atlantic. couple lake effect snow showers in upstate new york. maybe a snow shower in the poconos. that is it majority of the region is nice and quiet. high pressure is over us. that locks in the cold air, and then tonight the winds will relax more, so we will drop down to about 20 for philadelphia, maybe the teens, even here in the city. you will know suburbs will be down to the teens. we are seeing 17 right now in the colder spots and getting down to the lower teens probably. this is coldest night since january 10th. been a while. especially coming off days with highs in the 70's. again no big storms to talk about over the next 48 hours,

high pressure is dominating the mid-atlantic. that is good news there we have warmer air returning for next week. people notice that in the form of the clouds on monday ace a warm front moves by to the north and west, next chance of rain holds off until tuesday. lot these wind chills. what it feels like when we factor in the wind. teens through the rest of the morning. a was he get in the afternoon not a whole lot better. may feel as warm as 25 around wilmington and philadelphia, and then it gets very cold tonight, and if you have plans to head outside tonight around town, dinner plans, obviously heavy coats, jackets, gloves, and scarves, will be needed with wind chills down in the single digits, early on sunday morning, and then with the sunshine, and lighter wind sunday those wind chills values better by afternoon getting up to about 30 degrees up and down patterns for the temperatures. that is how it has been. that is what we are dealing w cold air in place today, tomorrow. jet stream moves back to the north next week we will see a surge of 60's returning for tuesday in, to wednesday, and then another shot of cooler air returns for the end of the next week, not as cold as what we're dealing are right now but that is what we are used
