good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. today president trump is expected to sign a revised version of his travel ban order, but this morning it's mr. trump's accusations that president obama had his phones tapped. the director of the fbi wants the justice department to dispute the charges. hena daniels is here in new york. hena, good morning. >> good morning, anne-marie. the white house has requested that congress examine whether president obama abused his executive thoerd. the accusation came in a tweet without supporting evidence that then president obama ordered a wire tap of phones in trump tower. president trump's assertion that former president obama bugged trump tower last year is now putting him at odds with fbi director james comey.

law enforcement sources confirm to cbs news comey asked the department of justice saturday to publicly reject mr. trump's claims say the claims falsely suggest they broke the law. >> there was no such wiretap activity mounted against the president-elect at the time of against his campaign. >> the former director of national intelligence james clapper maintained sunday he supervised never wiretapping mr. trump. the president made the claim on twut oren saturday but has no evidence to support it. >> he's going off information he's saying that led him to believe this is a very real potential. >> to make that type of claim without any evidence is, i think, very recklessing. >> yesterday the white house asked congress to investigate the allegation amid its ongoing probe into russian meddling in the 2016 election. >> we will get all of the information that we need.

if that includes president trump's tax returns, then i have confidence that we will ask for them. >> a spokesperson for mr. obama responded saying in part neither mr. obama or any white house official ordered any surveillance on u.s. citizen. any suggestion otherwise is simply false that and attorney general jeff sessions who recused himself from any trump/russia investigations last week is expected to file amended testimony to the senate today to explain why he did not disclose meeting with the russian ambassador twice last year. ahead on "cbs this morning," we will talk to congressman jason chaifetz about a possible investigation that he was wire tapped. north korea fired a ballistic missile into the ocean this morning. the missile was fired near the

location of the border near china. it traveled about 500 miles into the sea of japan. the u.s. is investigating reports that three other missiles were fired. north korea is prohibited by the u.n. of firing any missiles. several days ago they promised to retaliate for south korea/u.s. drills. he was given a deadline to leave after krit soozing the investigation of the murder of kim jong-nam. authorities say he died after two women smeared his face with a banned agent. allegedly sharing nude photos of female soldiers and veterans. some were taken without the women's knowledge. >> reporter: the secret marines united facebook group had hundreds of marines as members.
