are getting the day off. and at least six people have died as wildfires chase across several states. storm chairses say why they get so close to it? >> get the word out and save people's lives. that's why i do it. i thrive on that. good morning from the studio 57 newsroom at cbs news headquarters here in new york. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. there's no comment from the cia after wikileaks publish as what it says are files on the cia program. the alleged cia hacking program targets everything from smartphones to internet connected tvs. there's so far no suggestion the program is being used against americans, but if verified, the breach has severely undermined cia tactics and targets. jeff pegues has our reports.

>> reporter: wikileaks claims the stolen data came from a former u.s. government hacker or contractor. it reveals espionage tools that can take over internet-connected smart tvs and record audio. it also citeds abilities to hack iphones or google android smartphones. they can then monitor the communications of terrorist groups like isis who have been using encrypt ed apps like whatsapp. earlier this year u.s. intelligence officials accused wikileaks of being a propaganda arm of the russian government after it released damaged democratic party e-mails stolen through russian cyber attacks. when it was revealing during the campaign, candidate donald trump

praised the organization, but the latest disclosures now threaten u.s. intelligence capabilities. wikileaks says it has more information than that revealed by nsa leaker edward snowden. former acting director michael morell. >> how would you compare this to edward snoed snn. >> this is cia's edward snowden. >> that huge. >> in sense of what they tell adversaries and we'll have to start over to build tools just like we did with snoelden. former director michael haden defended the hacking tools. >> there are people out there you want us to spy on. you want us to have the ability to actually turn on that listening device inside the tv to learn that person's intentions. this is a wonderful capability. you give the intelligence community $53 billion a year.

and some school districts have been forced to shut down for the day. the entire u.s. there was a new round of bomb threats yesterday to jewish community centers and day schools. since january there have been more than 120 threats in three dozen states. in a letter addressed to the fbi director, attorney general, and homeland secretary, they're calling for swift action. it was signed by all 100 u.s. senators. winds are expected to diminish today in four states where firefighters are battling wildfires. the fires have killed at least six people. this morning red flag warnings are posted in northern oklahoma, kansas, and missouri. the fires burned hundreds of square miles and destroyed dozens of buildings. in oklahoma david begnaud spoke with storm chairses following
