we are following breaking news a manhunt is underway in south jersey after a car crashed in the house where we're live with whom police are looking for and what may have led to the accident. the republican health care bill just cleared its first hurdle but fight is far from over, where things stand new with the new plans. and energy milder temperatures today because big changes are on the way, lauren 's tracking two, count them two as well in the forecast. today is thursday, march 9th, good morning i'm jim donovan. i'm rahel solomon. lauren and meisha are keeping an eye on things. what if we want no chances. >> move to florida. >> i'm just messenger. >> mother nature decide and i'm just really her puppet. >> yes. >> we have construction outside this morning, lot of it, which is clearing out of the way. no accidents, today.

>> that is nice quiet start to the day. mild, clear skies, and we will have a big difference this time tomorrow morning, so enjoy, the calm conditions, while they last, 50 degrees in philadelphia we're at 48 in wilmington. 51 degrees in allentown. calling in at 52 degrees in dover. we have breezy conditions, wind speed up around 10, 12, 16 miles an hour and wind speed will kick up once again as we head into midday but for 9:00 o'clock hour looking g mostly sunny, breezy, 51 degrees. sunshine in the lunch hour. fifty-eight, still gusty. as we head in the second half of the day cloud increase as we push toward evening hours, mild though high temperature of 61 degrees but colder air moves in overnight tonight, sets us up for rain/snow transition late overnight tonight into tomorrow morning, and we will likely see all snow coming down across good portion of the delaware valley for our friday morning commute and then colder, even colder air arrives as we head in the upcoming weekend it will stick

around into next week as well with the extended stretch of high temperatures only in the 30's. that system we were watching for sunday, i have high confidence that will stay off to our south. no snowfall for sunday but now we have another system to keep an eye on into next tuesday, meisha. >> we cannot escape it, can we it its coming whether we want it or not. good morning, everyone. happy thursday. little bit ago we were looking at this absolutely gorgeous sky line right there. now it is starting to heat up with that sun starting to peak up, not a bad shot, to two taillights moving in the right direction approaching king of prussia in the a bad problem to have. you might have some sun up, slow down, thick are particularly moving in the eastbound direction. just something to think b also blue route headlights moving in the southbound direction pennsylvania ridge pike. this is what we are looking at both directions on the blue route looking good. we are still, dealing with that down tree in spring house roberts road is blocked at bethlehem pike. use an alternate norristown road is your best bet around that. also still dealing with some construction, so they did change time on this, new

jersey turnpike north bound at route 322 that right lane is block. now they are saying that will linger out there until around noon for those taking new jersey turnpike. it will be out there all morning long and then aramingo avenue ramp to i-95 reopening friday morning, big thumbs up there, jim and rahel, back over to you. we are following breaking news out of salem county where police say a driver slammed a car full of people in the house overnight. >> driver then got out and took off running. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live in penns grove where a manhunt is underway, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, rahel and jim. home owner's son tells me this isn't first time that car has plowed through his parent's yard n this case police are still looking for that driver who ran off abandoning his car and four passengers inside that car, thankfully no one inside the house or inside the car was seriously hurt but take a look you can really see the damage caused here now that it is starting to get lighter out, the car plowed through that front fence, went through the side, and then hit the corner of the house here, and this happened just after

1:00 a.m. neare line ande union street in penns grove. police say an officer was attempting to pull over when driver refused to stop. driver who control around a curve, jumped the curve and crashed through two fences and hit the house. he then took off on foot. couple in their 70's lives in the home their son tells thaws they are both okay, and he had a message for the driver, and anyone else who tried to allude police. >> never think in this neighborhood, there is no need to run, just pull over. >> they are lucky they didn't get killed. >> there were four passengers in addition to that driver, they were three women and one man, all but one woman refused treatment. she was taken to salem hospital with minor injuries, and although car was pretty much totaled in this case the house was structurally sound. you see light on there people are able to stay on in there. at this point we are not sure why officers were trying to

pull this car over in the first place. for now we are live in penns grove, salem county i'm trang do for cbs-3 "eyewitness news" , jim and rahel back to you. >> trang, thank you. bucks county police are investigating a tragic accident a boy struck and killed by a pickup truck. this happened yesterday afternoon at the bellaire trailer park in morrisville. police say after the five-year old was struck people began attacking the pick up driver. that forced the driver to leave the scene but he stopped a short distance away to call for help. that driver is cooperating win investigators. this just in a missing elderly man from montgomery county has been found. it is unclear where roy camp meyer was located. the 84 year-old left his montgomery township home yesterday. last night someone spotted his car near hershey park. we are awaiting more information from police and when we get it, we will pass it to you. a philadelphia police officer is forced to shoot and killed a dog while responding to a call. now this happened last night on the 6500 block of buse avenue in southwest philadelphia police say the

officer and dhs, security were em trying to remove two children from the home when a german shepherd attacked the on ther. the officer has been treated from the hospital and released police are investigate the shooting in frankford that sent one man to the hospital in critical condition. chopper three over 29,000 block of bridge street, just before 8:45 last night. the 20 year-old victim was shot in the head, shoulder, and then back, and robbed of $100. police are checking surveillance cameras in the neighborhood for an image of the gunman. chopper three also over a deadly shooting in north philadelphia. a man was shot four times in the head on a 300 block of west westmoreland street, this happened just before 7:00 last night. he was pronounced dead at the scene. police have not made any arrest in this case. anger and frustration at peco customers go into another day without power, following that large fire in a north philadelphia substation. nearly 1,000 homes and businesses, remain in the dark , at this hour, making matters worse, some who have had power restored have who it again. peco hopes to have all of the power restored sometime this

morning, 36,000 customers were left without power, after flames ravaged that substation on the 2600 block of west owe west moreland street tuesday afternoon. no word what sparked that blaze. developing overnight a house panel proves bill to replace the affordable care act, another panel is still debating the legislation, president trump praised health care plan but as hena daniels reports he has not spoken to reporters since this weekend when he accused president obama of wiretapping. >> we are here to legislate, when are we go to go get down to business. >> reporter: battle over republican plan to repeal and replace obama care, spilled into the early hours. >> we don't necessity how much it will cost. >> reporter: house democrats offered dozens of amendments to slow down the process. >> this is disgraceful. if you have got better ideas put them forward. >> reporter: despite push back from conservative republicans and major hospital and senior groups, g.o.p. leaders are putting the legislation on the fast track. >> i have no doubt we will

welcome back, we're getting a scary firsthand view of the fast moving wild fire in central kansas. >> take a closer look this dramatic dash cam video was taken from a kansas highway patrol car, trooper todd heilman was helping to divert traffic on the interstate monday when the fire jumped the road through the smoke and flames he still however managed to rescue driver of the sem that i got stuck in the interstate's median. university of michigan's mens basketball team had a frightening start to their run at big 10 tournament their plane tried to take off in high wind but pilots aborted take off and plane slid off runway. plane was heavily damaged but there were no serious injuries wolverines coach says that his team was calm, during the

colder air being driven in but high temperatures yesterday, just such a nice day. we started off with showers, sprinkles. sunshine broke out. we topped at 64 in the philadelphia. sixty as in the lehigh veil, berks county, down the shore. heading in the weekend those 60's will be long gone history storm scan three is showing us quiet conditions right now. nice clear skies. we will have another round of sunshine in store, mostly sunny, breezy backup in the 60 's today and then tonight temperatures dropping like a rock. 36 degrees. areas of rain and snow developing, and we will see all snow, through a good portion of our friday morning commute, so no problems, this evening, increasing cloud, and after midnight we will see precipitation developing north and west of the city, first, so rain mix nothing on initial , when the initial precipitation comes down, and then transitioning over to snow, lehigh valley, poconos and that snow ban will move south as we head in the early morning hours on friday, continuing to move south, throughout the morning commute , you do notice a lot of white, purpose until there

indicating this will be a snow event for most of us as we head throughout the morning hours. it will be brief, that main area of precipitation moving out, but we could see snow squallness to our friday afternoon, as far as snow fall accumulation, three to six in the poconos, up toward lehigh valley, two to 3 inches closer to the i-95 corridor, one to 2 f the south jersey could pick up a coat to go an inch of snowfall during march and upcoming weekend, meisha we will dry things out but boy, it will be a cold within with highs only near freezing on saturday. >> it looks that way, all right, thanks very much. good morning. we are looking outside, look at how busy, i-95 south at girard, head up tack on a extra 15 minutes, heading out there on i95 moving in the southbound direction. we have this accident, 309 north, pennsylvania the turnpike, you could see how travelers are going pennsylvania this accident, not many. in the slowing you down. just make note they are pulled off to the shoulder and maybe a little far right lane that we will start to force

but pushing, springing forward meaning we are losing an hour of sleep and when we wake up, it is darker. it is light her at end of the day which means it is hard to wind down. temporary but it happens. >> can you prepare for adjustment just go to bed early. >> great idea, back to schooltime when you tell kid, parents to get their kid in bed earl tore get ready. we should do the same thing springing forward. you will start tonight, we have thursday night, friday night, saturday, get to bed 20 minutes earlier each nice to get ready for our springing forward. >> go to bed at 3:00 in the afternoon at this rate. >> trying to reset your sleep schedule if this is a good time to do it. >> there is people that want to get more sleep, or committing to have their sleep habits and this sometimes can be a good time of the year to say we have daylight savings time coming up lets pick this time of the year to get our habits in checked. >> regardless of the daylight

savings time what advice can you give to people who want a better night's sleep. >> no matter what time of the year. here's a few things we can do biggest thing is to make sure their roomies conducive to getting a good night sleep, keeping your room cool. making sure it is not too hot. making sure you are not eating heavy meals or drinking caffeine, alcohol or exercising too close to bed. turning off electronic, keeping lap top, tv and bright lights from ifence and things like that minimize ago this is very important. >> we have been talking about daylight savings time all week but i'm eternal optimist o other hand do you think staying brighter later gives you more energy. >> i think in the morning it is harder because it is darker but toward end of the day, what i love about this time of the year, spring's coming and summer will be here. it is motivate nothing that respects. we get excited. >> yes. >> are you ready. >> yeah, um-hmm.

trailer where we have it, 95 south approaching vine pulled off to the right. you can see flashing lights. that will cause a slight gaper delay at this point but overall congestion levels are on this are looking okay, just a head up, like i said pulled off to that right shoulder. then we have an accident 309 northbound pennsylvania pennsylvania turnpike, this one is also pulled off to the shoulder, which is a head up for those passing by. still traveling at posted speed around that area, and we also have another accident in pottstown here shoemaker road at route 100. a lot of these accidents, they are out there, they are not causing significant slow downs , but a head up because they will start to, and then just a couple reminder township line road, between greenwood avenue and washington lane closed between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. your alternate church road. city avenue north and south we have construction between bryn mawr avenue and kings grant drive this one is between 9:00 d that will run you through friday. we have more to talk about coming up in the next 15 minutes. jim, over to you.

update be breaking news police continue their manhunt for driver who rammed his car in the home overnight,'s then got out and ran away. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do is live in penns grove where she spoke to the home owner's son and what can you tell us this morning. >> reporter: rahel and jim, this was an attempted traffic stop gone wrong. we have seen police drive around the neighborhood still looking for this driver, who ran off after crashing into this home, he abandoned his car as well as four passengers inside that car, thankfully no one inside, the home or inside that car was seriously hurt but take a look at this damage , you can see it in the date lie here. you can see the portion of the fence is just gone, and strewn about in this yard. you don't see these deep tire tracks as car drove through and straight through that house and you can see the hole on the side of the house now. this happened just after 1:00 neare line ande union street in penns grove. an officer was attempting to pull over a car but driver refused to stop. driver who control around a curve, jump the curve and crashed the two fences and

stay on the sidelines because they are always waiting for a pull back, right. even when market comes back eight or 10 percent it doesn't feel like that much. problem with that thinking it is just a form of market timing it doesn't work. john vogel who founded mutual giant vanguard who famously said after 50 years in the business i don't know anybody who has been able to time the market successfully and more importantly consistently. here's the thing if you are worried about losing a big chunk of money if the market were to drop precipitously you use something called dollar cost averaging an investment strategy where you divide monday a veilable into equal parts and periodically put it to work. you have to stick to that diversified port foal yeah but just do it. if you are starting out making your first ira contributions just remember you are investing for decade in the future. tenth market were to plunge in the near term you have a long time to make up loss and grow your necessity egg. go ahead and do it. >> i remember that day, eight

bitter cold springing forward with highs in the 30's. >> so we will have to energy nice dry roadways that we have today, we have some sun and sun glare but overall we can handle that. what we have not seen is a couple accidents. this 1422e pennsylvania oaks pulled off to the far left shoulder, you can see we have driver and passengers here, walk around and this will slow you down, gaper delay and that can be a dangerous situation as well, because we are seeing , those drivable lanes as well as shoulder as well. when we have people outside, head up, just drive very, very slow. disabled tractor trailer here i-95 south pulled off to the far right shoulder. gaper delay here, getting busy around this area we have another accident, in wilmington delaware i-95 north , that left lane is block there, starting to slow, less than posted speed in that area we have another accident 309 north bound at pennsylvania turnpike this one is pulled off to the shoulder and accident pottstown shoemaker road still out there as well.
