we're following a breaking news, three alarm fire in delaware where fire fighters are battling cold and flames to get this fire under control and dreams of success started right here in her home town of philadelphia, now sister sledge is mourning loss of one of their own, joan i sledge, has died at the age of 60. another day of bitter cold weather on tap that will usual inner a snowstorm later this week. today is sunday march 12th , good morning, everyone i'm jan carabao. lets get over to meteorologist justin drabick with the eyewitness weather forecast, this sunday morning, justin. old man winter hanging on tight on this last week of winter. >> we're in daylight savings so you start thinking about spring because it will stay lighter, later sunset after 7:00 with these temperatures not moving, with this cold pattern and it will meet up with the storm system monday into tuesday as nor'easter develops and good shot for heavy snow for the region. until then nice and quiet for rest of this weekend. just on the cold side, sun's

up and it will slowly go to work. it will struggle to get those temperatures back above freezing like yesterday, 24 at the airport northwest breeze at seven, so it does feel like 16 degrees, so wind chills are a little bit harsh this morning. 8 degrees actual temperature in the poconos, mid 20's along the coast in wildwood, in between, still a lit built of snow pack to the north of town , so temperatures in the mid teens, in quakertown and doyletown. those wind chill values fluctuating depending where they are. feels like minus five in mount pocono, 12 in reading and allentown. eighteen in wildwood. high cloud to the south right now, filtering out sunshine over southern new jersey and delaware. they will eventually thin out. decent amount of sunshine but my guess, we will struggle to get, to at or slight lay above freezing. our highs, good 15 degrees below average. mid 30's, philadelphia and shore. lower 20's in the poconos. winter storm watch in effect at 8:00 monday night for majority of the region so we can see easily six or more inches of snow in those spots,

and then we could be dealing with the sleet, rain mix along the coast but there is going to be aloft wind this system. coastal flooding is likely around times of hide tide. exact location of the heavier snow. is there uncertainty there as storm has not developed. more coming up in the full forecast in a few minutes, jan , back to you. we continue to follow breaking news out of wilmington this morning, crews have been on the scene of the three alarm fire for several hours now that fire is in the 5100 block of pike creek boulevard, it is in the a abandoned pike creek bowling center, the fire, went up to two alarms at 6:30 this morning, right now it is still burning, there are no reported injuries, at this point. stay with us for updates throughout the morning. several people have been forced out of their homes this morning after a fire in an apartment building in caln township chester county. fire broke out just before 12:30 in the 200 block of meadow lake drive. fire fighters say a neighbor

called maintenance to report a fire alarm, maintenance arrived to find smoke in an apartment and by the time fire crew as arrived the apartment was on fire. >> at the current time we have had seven apartments that have been impacted by this fire, the fire went to two alarms due to the nature of needing manpower to assist, while helping contain it. >> the property manager says that up to 12 people are impacted, they have been moved to a community center for the time being. a person is in the hospital this morning after being hit by a car in mount laurel overnight. the crash happened at 3:15 this morning near route 37 and fellowship road. pedestrian was taken to virtua hospital in marlton and that person's condition is unclear right now, the driver did stay on the scene, the crash is still under investigation. this morning, a teenager is also in the hospital recovering after being shot. the 13 year-old was shot at point blank range in philadelphia's nicetown section. alexandria hoff shows us surveillance pictures of the men police say are responsible >> reporter: friday, 10:30 p.m. police say a 13 year-old boy was grabbing food with friend inside of the new ly opened gold fish take out restaurant on the 2,000 block of west hunting park avenue in the nicetown section of the city. as teens took the seat, two males walk in photos taken from high quality surveillance footage mapped out violence that followed, investigators say immediately after taking part in the quick conversation with the boy, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot the young teen in the head at point blank range. the gun man and accomplish ran off, boy was found unresponsive by first responders and then rushed to temple hospital. no one else was injured. now opened for business owners of the restaurant kindly declined to comment on the horrifying experience. again police are still searching for those two men seen in the still photos,

"eyewitness news" near wissohickon and police responded to the scene around 4:00 in the afternoon. right now there is no word on how the person died or the circumstances, surrounding that death. we continue to follow developments out of olde city, fail where 20 more bodies were recovered at a construction site near the betsy ross house "eyewitness news" first told but discovery on thursday. dozens of coffins were unearth ed between second and third are third street researchers are analyzing remains including bodies discovered on saturday. at lee three dozen wooden coffins have been found at the site of the first baptist church burial ground. investigators are trying to pinpoint what cause aid

warehouse fire in west philadelphia at lee eight homes near 62nd and arch were evacuated and philadelphia fire fighters, what theled the flames. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan, caught up with some displaced neighbors. >> reporter: thick smoke filled the streets at 62nd and arch as philadelphia fire fighters battled a fire inside a burning warehouse saturday morning. first crew arrived around quarter after 9:00 and within an hour, it became a three alarm fire. >> my daughter called my and said that the house was on fire. >> reporter: eight houses had to be evacuated as crews prevented fire spreading from the warehouse across thal toy a block of row homes. >> an explosion, in the back, and in the back, flames started to come around. >> reporter: wilson's house appeared to have the most damage. >> they had knocked windows out, and then it started in the corner. they had to tear walls up. they had to go on the porch to take the fire out. >> reporter: at lee 20 people were evacuated, some watched as fire fighters sprayed water from many angles.

"eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live in old city this morning. organizers have picked a timely theme this year, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, jan they have. the theme this year is st. patrick, guide and protect our police officers, as we know, independence hall is birthplace a lot of history but actually st. patrick's day celebrations began here in philadelphia, even before that this is a long standing tradition and we will see that in a few hours. take a look at video we shot from last years parade, just fun all the way around. while it is extremely cold outside right now, unless a blizzard hits, this parade

will continue on today. call can expect to see 20,000 participants including irish mummers, dancers, schools, band, this year organizers say they chose this theme to honor police officers, especially amid recent violence against officers here in philadelphia, and across the country. we spoke with the parade's president bill ivers who said they started to parade six months ago and there is a new parade route this year. listen to what he has to say. >> we're coming from 16th and jfk, around city hall, down market street, to the cradle of liberty here. what a great backdrop to have for the parade here in philadelphia. >> reporter: what a backdrop indeed. in previous parade for nearly pennsylvania 20 years it went from down the parkway but today we will begin at 16th and jfk, at noon, if would you like to attend, also just a fun fact national retail federation says that last year , consumers spent

in the capitol city of delaware. cold flow coming from the north right now, look at buffalo 12 degrees. seven in albany. that cold air is in place, sticking around, jet stream stays to the south, next storm system runs into that cold air , supports snow. nothing happening today though , more clear skies, out further north and then we are dealing with some cloud over central, southern delaware and new jersey. they will thin out in the morning and afternoon. overall quiet finish to the weekend. not bad if you have travel plans over the next 12 to 24 hours, cross mid-atlantic and northe, in problems, protected by high pressure. note thinks system coming off pacific ocean as we speak right now and it will continue to track in the northern plains over the next 12 hours. that is energy that will help fuel or form the coastal storm during the day on monday. thinks noon time monday, we will start to see storm develop off the carolina coastline, and it ramps up later monday night, tuesday morning, tracks up thee coast. we will see widespread snow, and potential for heavy snow especially from i-95 northward

, if that low will track further off shore we will bring heavier snow close to the coast. so still there could be some changes in the exact track as the storm has not develop yet. you have to remember these coastal storms form at last minute so they are very tough to information cast. that point monday night, looks like we will start to see that heavier snow, arriving, especially tuesday morning with the heaviest precipitation, wind gusting to 30 to 40 miles an hour over the day on thus tuesday, highest gust on the coastline. that will backup the water around times of high tide. potential for minor, moderate tidal flooding, on tuesday morning, possible power outage s with this strong wind, that will be more heavy wet snow with temperature a little bit on the milder side closer to freezing but still, it is going to be snowing hard, so those road will be covered even in the middle of the march. as of right now here are numbers, could easily change but changes in the track, generally about six to 10 inches over a lot of locations, farther south along the coast where there could be rain, sleet mixing in and that sweet line could get up to the city depending on how the

storm does track, and potential for maybe 10, to a foot of snow in parts of the region especially north of the city. wind, not a problem tomorrow, they will not be gusting, by tuesday morning, they will start to ramp upe/northe wind gusting to 40 to 50 miles an hour, along the coastline, the wind will be lighter, further inland we will go, until we get away from the center of the storm. but quite to it day, partly sunny skies, cold, 36 for the high temperature and then tonight, 22 for the low, mostly clear skies, tomorrow, still quiet, cloud will justin crease throughout the day, and then we will see that snow arriving late monday night, and wind driven snow especially tuesday morning, and temperatures holding in the 30's through most of the week. it looks like we will reach 40 's by next weekend, jan, back to you. it is now 8:17. time to check road. lets go over to amanda muhler in the cbs-3 traffic center, good morning, amanda. >> good morning. we are taking a live look at broad and pattison, if you are heading in the city, it does not look too bad. just know 16th and 20th street

exact track will determine the location of the heaviest snow. storm hasn't formed yet so easily changes can occur and amounts and totals we will talk about in a few moments. back to you. >> thanks, justin. we are following breaking news out of wilmington this morning. crews are on the scene of the three alarm fire in a abandoned bowling alley. this is eyewitness video from jar parise. this is at pike creek boulevard and pike creek bowling center. fire grew to three alarms just before 6:30 this morning. crews are making progress but building is still on fire right now. we will keep you up to dayton air and on line as we learn more. meantime a fire sent several people outside in the cold overnight in caln township chester county. the fire broke out in the 200 block of meadow lake drive-in an apartment building around 12:30 this morning. the fire grew to two alarms, about seven units were impacted, and people were moved to the community center nearby for time being and red

cross says it is assisting six families, fire fighters say there were working smoke alarms inside of those apartments. philadelphia fire investigators are trying to discover what caused this warehouse fire in west philadelphia. crews were responding to see flames at 62nd and arch street s and fire quickly grew to a three alarmer within an hour forcing evacuation of the 20 people from eight homes. fire was under control by noon time, no one was hurt, red cross is now providing shelter for some people who cannot yet return to their homes. harrisburg's fire department is in mourning today after a fellow fire fighter was killed while responding to a house fire. lieutenant dennis devos was on his way to a deadly fire friday night when witnesses said another driver went through a stop sign and crashed into his car. lieutenant devos was taken to the hospital, where he died last night, the suspect driver of the other car later showed up at a local hospital. officers say she told them she had been in the minor accident

sanders who has a series of critiques to make. yet one little place he may be able to work with the president, and what we can talk to about that and we also talked with speaker of the house paul ryan about the president's extraordinary claims that president obama wiretapped his trump tower during the campaign. he made this claim last week and fall out continues, in washington as people seek evidence for this claim. we talked to paul ryan about it because he is members of the gang of eight, those are top members in congress who get to see the most sensitive intelligence and so we talked to speaker ryan about whether there is any evidence for wiretapping claim that the president made. as always we will talk to our political reporters, around the round table here, and open up their notebooks, give us a reading on the health care bill, what is in it that is important that we should pay attention to what will happen next week and then also, a few other issues around the world that we will be talking about. >> a lot to cover as usual,

down in the single digits in some spots. excellent conditions for skiing and riding, once again, as they are able to crank out fresh snow over weekend, manmade snow, artist air in place. jack frost big boulder opened for business. late season skiing, it is excellent, and it will be like that over next week. here's set up, extended arctic blast. it is one or two days of cold air and then warms up. not so much so this week. every day we will deal with temperatures well below average. winter storm watch for tomorrow night, and for that, to force heavy snow for parts of the region monday into tuesday. hard to believe spring officially does arrive next monday, march 20th. vernal eke incomes when sun alliance with the equator we will get 12 hours and nine minutes of daylight. included to the south, will thin out in the morning and afternoon, weak disturbance off the coast today. disturbance is moving off the pacific ocean right now as we speak, that system will move in the midwest tomorrow and spawn coastal low during the day on monday and track up the

ease co. until then nice and quiet for 24 hours. lets talk about that system tomorrow afternoon, in the midwest we will get that le pressure moving in and then we will sea coastal low developing during the day and then track up thee coast. widespread heavy snow, from i-95, northward at leon tuesday morning. and then by tuesday afternoon snow tapers off. this storm will be strong as it energizees as it moves into new england possibly blizzard like conditions in new england later on tuesday. we have heavier snow threat here in the delaware valley. strong winds along the coast leading to some toesal flooding around times of high tide. we have tried to time things out. expect snow to arrive after 8:00 o'clock monday, moving from southwest to north east. heavier snow overnight monday into first half of tuesday, morning, and wind will kick up as well. later tuesday afternoon this snow begins to taper off this snow will come down heavy. we will have to deal with snow covered road on tuesday morning, so that will be a rough commute.

here are numbers at this point these can easily change, depending on the exact track as the storm has not formed just yet, but six plus inches maybe up to 10 north of the city, and of philadelphia, and then further south we have a chance for rain and sleet to mix in so the numbers can get cut down but if the storm would track further off shore we will bring higher snowfall levels south and then goes other way inland then we will lower the snowfall totals. we will wait and see. right now that is what it is looking like at this point. staying cold, jet stream, to our south, arctic air in place , that is what locks in that snow chance. another fresh shot of cold air moving in for tuesday with that storm, and then really for rest of the week, our temperatures struggled to get out of the 30's. finally by the weekend we will kick out that cold air, but still temperatures staying below average and may reach 40 's finally. today, 36, partly sunny skies and then tonight a very cold night once again with mostly clear with a low of 22 degrees sunset at 7:04 as we are in daylight savings time. thirty-eight tomorrow.

it was a big night for villanova wildcats. for second time in three years , villanova won the big east tournament title in a convincing 74-60 win over creighton. josh h art led the team with 29 points and big east mvp for second time in three years. today is selection sunday. we will find out where cats are seated and who they pair up with in the tournament. in the meantime our own pat gallen sat down with the man who knows everything that there is to know about bracket tology. if you have ever filled out a bracket during march madness and chances you are. you have this man to thank for brackettology. working diligently behind me is father of brackettology. st. joes color commentary is shifting researching getting ready for march madness. origin office brackettology is right here in philadelphia with the blue ribbon year book but how did he keep teams in order in the early days.
