in many shore towns. we're now dealing with the aftermath of the storm, good afternoon i'm ukee washington. aim jessica dean. our team of live reporters is fanned out all across pennsylvania, new jersey, and delaware, and, we start with our natasha brown live in red ding berks county where they saw plenty of snow from this system, natasha. >> well, good evening to you both, back there in philadelphia. this was one of the hardest hit area. unofficial reading with our eyewitness weather watcher yardstick. almost 9 inches in this particular area so, berks county saw at lee, a foot or snow throughout the county from what we understand. the snow has stopped, the digging out is ongoing and it is even posing a risk at that point. snow fell fast and steadily in reading, berks county. by mid afternoon the areas was blanketed by several inches and folks began slowly digging out. >> what do you do when you live in pennsylvania. it is snow. you got to get it out of the way so people can go on about

their day, you know, no big deal. >> reporter: while william richardson is taking in stride , drivers were taking it carefully, on snow covered road, and snowplows, trying to stay ahead of the accumulating snow. >> to get around, you have to be careful, and then take your time, because the road are slippery and, as they, plow, the under lays, it is a little slushy ice. >> weaved been seeing a lot of falls. falls on the ice. we expect that to, continue. >> reporter: doctor charles bash youra with reading health system says happies seeing up tic in weather-related injuries with the heavy wet snow that is falling. >> this time of the year we will see people coming in with chest pain and heart attacks because they exert themselves doing something that they are not quite used to doing. >> reporter: doctors suggest, pacing yourself when it comes to the snow removal process. >> take it slow, you don't to have do it all in one sitting, right? and sometimes when we get snow , as thick as this, sometimes it is worth it to do a level, and then another level below it. so you are not lefting all

that 2 feet of snow at one time. >> reporter: well, at this point we have, seen the road here in west reading get progressively better, at lee throughout the day but of course temperatures are expected too drop. so that could all change as the night progresses. meantime berks county emergency officials say they have not seen any major emergencies on the roadways, and they do believe that people, took heed and stayed inside during the height of the storm. we're live from west reading, natasha brown for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you for that. storm pounded parts of the delaware with a dangerous combination, of snow, sleet and rain. >> there are widespread power outages and also damage. >> "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is in wilmington with more on the situation there, greg. >> reporter: ukee and jessica, good evening, at last check del marva power says that more than 23,000 customers here in new castle county are still without power, and that is one in 10 customers, served here in this part of the delaware. it is all because of this a

very thick coating of covering the power lines and covering the trees. for some of the trees it was just too much to handle. ice covered trees, make for a beautiful picture but the ice creates a headache when it coats power lines. in delaware at its peak, del marva power says that more than 30,000 customers, in the dark, because of this storm. traffic lights out, and power lines snapped. >> on the ground, where there is need. the simpson's home off of marsh road in wilmington still has its heat and power. but it is sporting a fallen tree. >> we were just relax nothing this room, and i heard a loud crunch. >> i could hear the tree and i knew, i saw it basically, it is like slow motion. like a car accident. you see the car coming at you and you cannot do anything bit >> reporter: their home built decade ago with thick, stone support. >> the house has like 16-inch

stone walls so it can hold a lot of weight. >> reporter: tree ended up resting on their roof causing an estimated $20,000 in damage but nothing that the simpson's say cannot be repared. >> reporter: so back here live , positive outlook with the simpson's. i spoke with someone from del marva power who says crews will work around the clock to repair these down lines and restore power and the crews, working for del marva power will be working side by side with some 120 contractors and two hub linesman coming in from chicago. we're live here in wilmington delaware, greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks, greg. all right. more damage in wilmington new castle county tonight. car crushed by a fallen tree there. this happened at the murray manor trailer park, branches of the tree also landed on the roof. going now to south jersey where the storm had a much different impact. >> "eyewitness news" in ventnor atlantic county where flooding overwhelmed street.

one tried to drive through the high water and did not make it "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has been in atlantic city all day long and joins with us a look at how things spared, cleve? >> reporter: ukee, atlantic city is a boxing town. they got hit with a 1/2 combination. they had 3 inches of rain and 8-foot storm surge, hit around the same time in the late morning, and that caused fairmount avenue here to be completely under water. six to 10 inches of water. you can see in the parking lot behind me all of the debris that now remains and a little bit further along, some of the houses here with sandbags, we drove around earlier, lets take a look. these were the flooded streets of atlantic city, hours before high tide. from there it got worse a lot of flooding and a lot of road are now closed. >> reporter: tow truck driver rafael mold inadequacies owe saw a foot of what the their left our news van and dozens of cars boxed in on fairmount avenue. >> the cars that are parked, a

lot of them got flooded. a lot of the, you know in the middle of water. everybody jammed up now. >> reporter: including this vehicle stuck in the inlet section of the town. fire department had to rescue the driver. >> sitting out there strand. we got him in the highway vehicle took him back to the firehouse and he is notifying somebody to pick him up. >> reporter: neighbors ventnor reported several rescues. there were concerns water would go in peoples homes. perez built a barricade for her row house on arizona avenue. >> it will not come too fast around the water. go inside. >> reporter: across the street this family stayed safe and snug inside all day. tom says in 55 years living on the street he has seen plenty of flooding and this was one of the scarier nor'easter. >> we were nervous because it came up to the top step. rain was a problem. it could not drain off. it hit at high tide and we're stuck with it. >> reporter: what do you do when it stops flooding in

atlantic city? you play soccer. we seen these guys out here for pennsylvania hour and they have that had some sunshine, some flurries, but the good news is that this was a fast moving nor'easter and it appears that things are getting back to normal. live from atlantic city, cleve bryan for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thanks for that. passengers are playing waiting game at philly international airport. >> american airlines i is expect to have flights running tonight, several airlines, including southwest, jet blue, frontier, alaska air, air canada, british airways, lufthansa and qatar air cancelled operations to day. if you have a flight scheduled , be sure to check with your carrier before you head to the airport. >> i don't to have tell you it has been a wild, weather day. within the pennsylvania hour or so, more snow came through center city. lets check with meteorologist lauren casey with what we got and what ace head, lauren. >> reporter: thanks, ukee. i'm about ready for a nap i think. i think a lot of us are. so, we did get a lot of napping in today because a lot of snow days, and certainly necessary, but a much different scene as we got a

live look at center city philadelphia. sunshine in the theme. twelve hours ago. we were dealing with heavy sleet. temperatures it is cold. 34 degrees. northwest wind at 24 miles an hour. feels like 22 degrees. but even over the last couple of hours, we have had more snow coming through with a little band of snow that has movede, now over monmouth county. we still do have moisture up wind. we can see that on storm scan three. a little bit slowly working its way through lancaster county but main energy with this huge, nor'easter is, well off to the north ande. war of the storm has passed. we could still see a few snow showers but dit dump on the poconos, 2 feet of snow, in mount pocono, allentown close to 14 inches. mount vernon chester county, 7 t philly international 6 inches. upper darby picking up 6 inches of snowfall. then we had that period of sleet, and freezing rain, and, in camden county, they picked um a quarter inch. mount holly .19. philly international over a tenth of an inch of ice.

when we get glazing like we saw in delaware and put wind on top of that we will start to see problems with down wires, abe down trees. the wind were whipping today every today. temperatures right now, they are cold, and they are continue to cool. we are sub freezing, lehigh valley, berks county, poconos. everybody that fell today will be refreezing during the evening hours and throughout the overnight period. so still could see a light passing snow showers but most of the presip has come to an end. wind gusts maintaining around 35 miles an hour, could see times of blowing snow and north and west of the city and concern now, guys, it is for that snow and slush refreezing overnight, so we will talk about that threat, and then maybe some snow squalls tomorrow, and, yeah, coming up in a little bit. >> wow. >> okay. >> lauren, thank you. we are not only major city in surrounding area dealing with wicked weather. we will take to you new york, massachusetts and other places also dealing with snow, sleet and ice. preventing another tragedy what the delaware governor is

neighborhood network shows us, snow, covering the ground, temperature, 27 degrees, and wind up around 18, miles per hour. mother nature, it is mid-march , give us a break. we're ready for some warmer temperatures, but really no where in sight, as we head in the next several days, as this cold air will linger. we still do have some snow showers, right now on storm scan . particularly to the north and west, moving very slowly, but things and snow showers building back into western berks county. we could see a few flakes flying looking toward reading and heading in the next couple of hours. we could see light sleet or snow shower, evening temperatures right around 30- degree mark. still blustery conditions. overnight tonight a few flakes , windy, frigid falling back down to 22 degrees with the wind up to 15 to 25 miles an hour. and as we head through the evening and overnight, still hazardous travel, snow and slush will refreeze. particularly of course on those untreated surfaces. very icy conditions. we will still dealing with gusty wind and some blowing snow, in spots, especially

northwest of the city that will reduce our visibility and bow, those wind were whipping today. seaside heights in ocean county 65 miles an hour, dover , to 60 miles an hour. gusting to 45 miles an hour in northeast philadelphia. in combination with the snow coming down, just a brutal day to day. current wind speed are to owe 25 to 30 miles an hour. gusts we still have them. they are not as intense but still gust continue to 37 miles an hour, in philadelphia, to near 40, in dover. so it is blowing snow around. also, it is creating a desire to stay at home on the coach. that is a good thing especially since we are still dealing with reduced visability on the roadway. we are down to a half a mile in mount pocono. reduced to a mile in lancaster right now. temperatures, they are cold. we are sub freezing in lehigh valley. twenty-eight in reading. 34 degrees in philadelphia. and mid 30's down the shore. these numbers, ticked down, we are going to start to see re freezing of the snow, and plus, we have this wind chill impact with those elevated wind speed feeling more like four above right now in mount

pocono. feeling like teens in the lehigh valley. feeling like 22 degrees in philadelphia tomorrow really isn't that much better, windy conditions, a high temperature only 29 degrees. scattered snow showers possible i snow squals. we will not be seeing too much also with that high of 19, all of our reporting sites throughout the day tomorrow, we will not see freezing, but then, as we head into thursday work some sunshine we should start to melt that snow off. sure, we are seeing scattered snow showers. thirty for the high tomorrow. same case in the poconos. 19 degrees. windy conditions persisting. and then on thursday we just hilt freezing mark but it is march, we have a good sun angle going so we should start to melt that snow, as we head into the day and then on st. patty's day more melting will occur but we will have to watch out during overnight period when we see that melting especially in the area that saw significant snowfall, a refreezing, during the overnight, over the next couple of nights. >> good head up, thank you. still ahead on "eyewitness

severe storms, significant damage. we are cleaning up from a nor'easter that blew in snow, and blue down trees. and we're going to take i to the more hard hit places. storm also left its mark down the shore, in the form of flooding, and ventnor, atlantic county rain moved through and left block after block under water. in the suburbs, plows are working to clear the pavement as quickly as possible. here's mobile three earlier today in montgomery county on northbound 202, near county line road where the snow was swiftly, being pushed out of the way. a lot of homeowners, they are still cleaning off sidewalks and driveways tonight. the news continues at 5:30 i'm jessica dean. i'm ukee washington. we have school closing and delays for tomorrow. check bottom of the screen for

those. now the string of shoveling, of course, can be dangerous. health reporter stephanie stahl is in abington right now where doctors, have had their hand, full with storm related issues. stephanie. well, that is right, ukee. now that the storm has passed and the sunnies out, people are venturing outside, and they are getting injured. we are talking about, heart attacks, fractures and much more. after a slow morning here at the emergency department at abington hospital, things are getting crazy, busy. >> we are seeing a lot more, snow-related issues. we had back to back heart attacks at the same time from shoveling snow. >> reporter: doctor philip, from emergency department at abington memorial hospital say many people don't realize how physically taxiing, shoveling snow can be on the heart. there was an incident with the snow blower, that patient needed stitches on his fingers >> with the heavy snow, you know, snowblowers get jammed, and people think that because the blade are not rolling that they can put their finkers in and remove snow. >> reporter: doctors say, with

pocono ine stroudberg to guys goer children's hospital in danville for that heart transplant and we're told everyone arrived safely. the storm led to some fries evening moments for residents in one south philadelphia neighborhood. a tree came down on parked cars and brought power lines witt. >> "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos was there to survey the dam age. >> reporter: isis culprit behind this south philadelphia mess. moments before, our live broadcast, we saw this tree, down on sixth street, and carpenter. >> i was walking right down the street. tree just fell in the middle of the street. it took down the power lines with it. >> reporter: minutes later fail fire arrived, followed by peco, crews cordoning off the area, turning off the power of the snapped line, and making sure that everyone stayed clear. >> i was happen that i we got parking spot in front of the house. >> reporter: thinks tom rosen thaw's car. >> things happened. >> reporter: nearly paid off and just minding his business. >> i was sitting down here. i hear all this loud noise,

looked out window and see blue sparks flying and then next thing i know, i come up here and i see this. >> reporter: fortunately no one hurt despite the dam. you cannot let it get you down. that is what insurance is for. >> reporter: in south philadelphia, greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". how about it, yes, indeed. further north you go, the more snow you will see. >> the poconos, will receive more than 20 inches. >> cbs news correspondent jericka duncan shows us in pocono township to show you all of the snow that fell there today. hey there, jericka. >> reporter: good afternoon. i wanted to say good morning, all of those years we work the morning shift. >> that is for sure. >> it is very, very, very heavy. but it is not stopped, skiers from coming out here, and as you can see is there a nice group out here. we have snow borders, skiers, they were anticipated this snow and they are extremely happy that they got the amount that they did. one of the people here, one of the officials here at

camelback telling me that they were expecting between 12 and maybe 18 inches and would have been perfectly fine with that, but right now, they say, that they are measuring at lee 22 inches of snow that has fallen here today. it is very cold outside here today, but not stopping people from, having a great time. so just a put it in perspective though the amount of snow that has fallen here, last year, for the entire, season, they got 22 inches of snow. so this year, again, they are at about 70, so far and gist 22, and couple more inches to accumulate before the end of tonight. but all of that in one day. this is exactly what they were hoping for, so you talked to people here and they say that the storm was not a disappointment at all. >> yeah, definitely delivered, didn't it. >> jer rick, don't you ski. >> you know, it is so funny, i haven't been skiing, skiing in a long time. my first time going skiing was when i was 11 in the girl scouts. last time i was skiing a few years ago i stayed on the

little kiddie mountain. so sad. but just to watch these people out here having a good time. it is pretty impressive. especially snow borders as they come off high mountains and strap their, you know, boots off and what have you, but, yeah, it is nice to see people having a good time, despite dealing with these frigid temperatures, this is what it is all about, you have people that cannot stand this kind of weather and people that absolutely love it that is for sure. >> i'm probably in the middle. >> go warm up. >> that is right. >> quick warm up. thanks, jer rick, take care. in new york city, storm lefter behind less snow then predict. >> some forecast is called for 2 feet there, still new york governor andrew cuomo warned people about dangerous road conditions in the city. some people got stuck, they had to get out, and push, less snow in the city, meant increased totals elsewhere. take a look at binghamton, new york, accumulations there are now at more than a foot of snow and it is still coming down. in the boston area high waves slammed these bulkhead at the shoreline.

the harbor is about 10 miles north of boston where the ocean was very angry this afternoon. and it pushed the storm watchers way back. coastal flood warning remains in effect there. just like in our region the storm dumped snow, wind, and caused power outages in massachusetts. the white house is joining congressional republican lead ers in doing what it can, to sure up support for american health care act. the g.o.p. members are nerve us about a non-partisan congressional budget office report, that showed millions will lose their health care, under the republican plan. vice-president mike pence arrived on capitol hill to rally republicans, behind the g.o.p. plan to repeal and replace obama care. >> whatever it is, we have to get 218 votes. that is your floor. i think what you need to do is to get enough members around key principal toss get you, to that floor. >> reporter: but ultimate passage of the bill is in question, after the congressional budget office reported 14 million people are

likely to lose, their insurance, next year, and 24 million by the year 2026. >> trump care has been public for one week now and is there anyone left in the country who actually likes it? >> reporter: republican congressman rob whitman is latest house member to announce he cannot support the plan. >> it faces a good question of how and why house members would want to vote for this bill and pay the political price for voting this bill fit is doomed to failure in the senate. >> reporter: republican leaders insist their members will get on board because it also provides big deficit savings. >> lower taxes, lower deficits , and the most significant entitlement reform in history. >> reporter: democrats say that those savings come at the expense of real people. >> of course, you can have savings if you cut off millions of people from access to care. >> reporter: speaker of the house paul ryan will talk to president trump this afternoon to discuss how to move forward >> the american action network , a group closely associated with speaker ryan is spending one and a half

their conditions. we will take a look at those. first up, snowy scene, looking a little bit like the tundra there in bethlehem. and getting a live look, still some twilight in the scene there but snow covered road, and not a lot of travel. okay. we will skip the weather watch tours day. we will go to snow and sleet totals. because why not, they are impressive. check in out in mount pocono, we have picked up 2 feet of snow. sinking spring 13.3 inches. over 10 inches in easton. is there our latest total from phl. 7.1 inches. king of prussia over 6 inches of snowfall, all thanks, thanks a lot, nor'easter that is continuing to move to the north ande. main energy over new england. we have wrap around moisture that we are contend w atmosphere is drying out little by little but still some snow showers, flakes, flurries around especially off to the west. we are seeing a few snow showers, passing through lancaster county. we could see a light sleet or snow shower over the next couple of hours, temperatures this evening, hovering right around 30 degrees with those

northwesterly wind still kicking. that is the same case as we head throughout the overnight period. still windy, conditions, and, frigid, a few passing flakes down to 22 degrees. that will pose a problem on the roadways. we're already very close to that freezing mark in philadelphia, at 34. at the freezing mark in wilmington. sub freezing to the north and west. so everything, that fell today , it is going to freeze as we head in the evening and overnight period. also, in combination, with those strong wind, and speed we have feels like temperatures, that is just spring just a couple days away feeling like 22 degrees in philadelphia feeling like 19 in berks bounty. feeling like four above in mount pocono. but, the concern overnight tonight is the 20-degree temperature. that slush will refreeze. of course, we will see very icy conditions, on untreated roadways and sidewalks. and try to limit, your travel, but it is cold any of so just hang inside, wind gusts to day we had falling precipitation, we have any intensity and on top of that gusty wind, ocean county 65 miles an hour, reading gusting to 256, northeast philadelphia, gusting to 45.

wind speed are still quite strong, up around 25 to 30 miles an hour, and, with the higher gusts, gusting into that upper 30 miles an hour range to near 40 miles an hour really not just a pleasant evening. as we head in the day tomorrow , i wish i had better news for you but it is not too great. wind which scattered snow showers and squals. high of 29 degrees. northwest wind at 20 to 25 miles an hour. as we head into thursday, we will only hit freezing mark but with all that sunshine we will see a lot of that snow starting to evaporate and melt as we head into, friday, st. patrick's day, 38 degrees, not too bad, another chance of rain and snow as we head in the upcoming weekend. then we will finally start to warm temperatures up into next week. thanks, lauren. well, no one has more fun on the snow day, then vittoria woodill. we no this. >> that is for sure. >> she spent the day in doyletown, tori. >> well, what a day in doyletown. look the kid are all lined up

you know, some parts of the bucks county got 9 inches of snow from today's storm but that didn't stop people from getting out and having some fun. >> "eyewitness news" reporter vittoria woodill spent the day in the heart of the doyletown where residents showed her plenty of warmth. tori. >> reporter: you know, the love i felt in doyletown today was absolutely huge, and to top it all off we came to one of the biggest, and bades hills in the area, to sled. we are at museum. take a look at crowd we have here. kid, you have been sledding all day. what has been so much fun about today. >> um, being here. >> being here, yes. >> i asked my mom and dad if i could go and they say probably close to 5:00 o'clock and then i went. it was really fun. >> reporter: fantastic. mom and dad are more lenient today, snow day, high five for mom and dad, have you been having fun going down that

lauren casey is track varying latest conditions but lets start with our david spunt in a very, snowy, allentown. david, good evening. >> ukee and jessica, good evening, it is a snowy allentown. got news the snow from the sky has stopped but we are seeing this stuff right now, obviously, piles from some of those plows, while the snow has stopped, i have got to tell you big story here is wind. we also got news just about an hour ago that allentown schools, will be closed tomorrow for second day in a row. snow felon the streets of allentown for almost 20 hours. picking up at times, with small periods of relief. >> driving conditions, they are slow, they are out there, plowing, major roadways. >> reporter: by late afternoon the actual snowfall was history and clean up, just continues to be on residents mind. >> they did a good job cleaning this time around, i guess. they were early with the program here at 2:00 in the morning. >> reporter: he and his nephew
