4:31 am
people in philadelphia are showing with. meisha johnson tracking conditions on icy, slick road but lets turn to meet role goodies katie fehlinger to find out if there is a thaw in our near future. say it so, katie. >> it will take a while, guys. ky here todayy hit freez ling some very cold air remains in place and that is part of the after aftermath problem that we will face. we have a large storm system that continues thankfully to make its exit, we are still going to have very col cold aire north and the west here. so, again, nor'easter, in terms of the actual storm, that is making its exit. we are still going to find perhaps especially this afternoon residual snow showers or squals. i don't think that will necessarily add to your current totals of snow, and sleet across the region but we will find those and they could continue to reduce visibility. right now not looking that bad skies have cleared out. remember under a nice clear sky temperatures can drop that much more readily.
4:32 am
so, right around the range of teens or 20's at best this morning, but again we are not rebounding too much more, throughout the course of the day. frozen slush, snow is an issue i'm sure meisha will be able to echo this but it is mainly on untreated roadways, icy, you know, side streets, ramps, you will need to use caution because we are finding some of that residual icing taking place. the bottom line here, folks, no matter where you are, if it was basically a rain storm south jersey, south delaware temperatures right now, meisha are so cold even if it was just rain it has since re frozen out there. >> yes, and what we are seeing right now, katie is even sometimes exact roadways can put that conversation on the roadways and that refreezes. it is one of those things of how cold it is depending on how many vehicles are on the roadways there will be black ice anywhere that you travel, and we are seeing ice on the roadways, basically every where. untreated surfaces, absolutely
4:33 am
, those side streets will be very rough, and difficult to drive on. now your main highways and interstates, they are for the most parting to be treated, so what we will have is a little bit of refreezing throughout the morning because it won't be able to moment. it will not be at freezing point. right now in the 20's we are seeing black ice but we do have a accident on 309 as well , fill you in on, at norristown road that has been since cleared but good news, septa most service is back to normal. we have some, suspensions and detours on the bus route and check those on line and we will talk about that coming up in a little bit. jim, over to you. school district of philadelphia will open up normally today. archdiocese schools, however are operating with a two hour delay. there are 400 other closings and delays affecting our area. we are posting them on cbs philly.com and cbs local app. new video from south philadelphia where it appears heavyweight is just too much for roof of the gas station. this is that liberty gas and car wash at columbus boulevard

4:35 am
very slippery out here: on the sidewalks, much of the same. some areas are clear, but others, have not been touched at all and then you have some icey patches. be aware of both streets, sidewalks are going to be rock solid at some point and if you were not smart enough to clear off your car yesterday this is what you'll have to come out to this is rock solid, right now and will take time to chip in there and clear this off. if you didn't dig your car out that is an additional problem. we have already seen one person try to get over this black of ice right here and it was very tricky for that person and that person had an suv. we were able to catch up with some early morning risers who took the time, yesterday to clean off their car, it was no easy task even then, take a listen. >> how long did it take to you shovel out. >> yesterday, it took me about , two hours. >> reporter: a lot. >> yes, it is a lot, a lot of
