, behind the meeting. it is 6:00 o'clock. here's is what happening. digging out, day later the winter weather and frigid air that has followed, is making for a difficult, clean up all around the area and anyone that tried to shovel out knows firsthand it was not a easy task. good evening, i'm ukee washington. i'm jessica dean. "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden has been making his way around philadelphia snow, sleet covered side streets to get a look at challenges crews are facing and has more on what you need to do if your street is not cleared just yet , joe. >> reporter: jessica and ukee, we are in northern liberties right now on fourth street, you can tell, that for the most part, this has been passed by with the plows several time you can see the blacktop, there is still snow in the middle of the street. we went to manayunk not too bad considering the hills, south philadelphia, not bad as well, and then also, in north

philadelphia, today. >> reporter: oh, reactions of chunks of ice practically every where on philadelphia streets. >> trying to get my car out, it is just completely ice. >> reporter: fortunately for rachel mcafee she had help. >> everybody is trying to help each other out. we are in the same boat. it is rough when you park in the street in the winter. >> reporter: philadelphia streets commissioner charlton williams tells us double punch of snow and sleet made clearing streets more difficult. >> we have completed hundred percent of all of the primary streets, it is residential street that we're still working on and we believe it is about 70 percent. >> reporter: manayunk perry de witt got out to clear off her minivan. what is point of attack. >> all i have is this snow scraper. >> reporter: it got half job done but as far as moving the car and heading to work, no go , and here's why.

>> the other side is frozen in the sidewalk. >> reporter: streets across hilly manayunk were manageable , same true in south philadelphia, generally people were getting around and we found a few token chairs, saving now coveted parking spaces but if your street isn't clear, the city tells us >> if we have not gotten to you yet to contact 311 call center and we will certainly give it priority to make sure we address it. >> reporter: twenty-four hours after the storm and by this point your sidewalk should be clear, and remember to clear the top of that car roof, that is the state law. live from northern liberties, joe holden for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> joe, thanks. "eyewitness news" in doyletown bucks county where snowblowers , and shovels got a lot of use as people worked to clear sidewalks abe driveways. the wet, heavy snow made for a rather difficult work. power outages hit many in delaware and new jersey in the wake of the storm. in the garden state, atlantic city electric has restored power to approximately 30,000 customers, since the storm hit

, and, nearly 9,000 homes and businesses are still without power, in delaware. del marva power crews, were along rita road in new castle today working to restore power , and this storm created sheets of ice which then cake power lines and tree limbs, and as you can imagine for homeowners being without heat, it has not been fun. >> you don't realize how much you miss something until it is gone especially electric. i got long underwear on, two pair of socks and then moving around trying to anyway. >> 200 digsal utility crews from as far away as chicago are helping del marva crews get power on. we are feeling effects of the storms in more way then one, falling ice forced the shut down of the market street , today. cars and pedestrians blocked from getting by between 12th and 13th streets due to the dangerous conditions. the city is urging high rise owners and managers, to monitor their buildings and

north and west until 8:00 p.m. for next hour and a half for blowing snow in these areas to greatly reduce visability. we have visability down to a half mile down in mount pocono and reduced in ac with the snow coming down, until 9 miles, but we have wind speed, that blowing snow, sustained wind right now 17, 23, 30 miles per hour as we head in the evening and overnight, snow showers are going to come to an end over the next couple of hours. we will still maintain wind gusts upward of 35 miles an hour, times of blowing snow north and west of the city and with the cold temperatures, and these wind, we have some down right frigid wind chills in store overnight tonight and for tomorrow morning, we will talk about those wind chill temperatures and we will finally start to warm up, 50- degree high temperature, and we will let you know when to expect that coming up. thanks. trum administration revised travel ban takes effect at midnight, and today city of philadelphia joined two dozen other cities in

challenging constitutionality of the ban. president trump's executive order bans travel from six muslim majority countries designated aster or hot spots, as opposed to the original orders, seven countries. it will also no longer effect current visa holders. city brief was filed in federal district court in seattle, that is where six states challenge the ban saying it discriminates against muslims. authorities in bucks county say that they have busted up a major heroin trafficking ring, they say ring followed drugs in the quakertown area. the ring dubbed by authorities as the mccarthey drug traffic king organization was run by mccarthey brot hours lived in their parents rich land township home. they sold upward of 5,000 bags of heroin a week. >> it ace alleged that the people at top of the pyramid made upward of a million-dollar a year. >> mccarthey brothers and eight other people have been arrested, two people remain at large.

scored fears realized, big budget cuts are coming to the atlantic city police department as part of the state of new jersey's take over of the city government finances. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has more on the impact that it will have on, officers. >> applause. >> reporter: moment of respect , last september for one of the atlantic city's finest, josh triedal shot in the line of duty with fit were to happen today state of new jersey would have him take a 30 percent pay cut. >> it is insulting, it will have a damming effect on the moral. >> reporter: rest of the state was dealing with the freezing nor'easter on tuesday atlantic

city police got a chilling letter from the christie administration, department of the community affairs which oversees state take over of atlantic city announced pay and benefit cuts, including workman's compensation. >> unheard of in police work, and it is particularly insulting because we just had an officer shot. >> reporter: today they tell "eyewitness news" for months we have sought reforms with the cities police only to have police union on monday to move away from reasonable fair solutions to the cities budget crisis. union president matt rodgers have a different version of the story. >> we offered significant real concession that is resulted in real, cost savings. they made it clear with that letter they have no intention toss deal with us in good faith. >> reporter: not only does office want to reduce salaries and cut overtime important police officers they want to get rid of the incentive to join bomb squad and detective division, other critical services in the department, which leaves the union to wonder why would people take on these rolls if there is no extra money. >> they want to revitalize atlantic city.

make it home safe. >> reporter: they join fire department union in seeking injunction to stop state cuts. the fire department could lose 100 fire fighters. police officers throughout the state could protest on behalf of atlantic city. >> dozens of phone calls this afternoon what can we do where do you want us. >> reporter: in atlantic city, cleve bryan, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". health officials say three more people died from the flu, bringing the statewide total to eight, for the season. officials says that the number of confirmed cases of influenza have wrist tone 2700 , that is almost five times their reported number from last year. last year there were six flu- related deaths in the state. a special visit the four legged, and, being brought in, private screening. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is just back where they are getting rave reviews. >> rave reviews for this one. >> and, so when word spread on facebook about her wish to see the new movie, a dog's purpose

temperature 30 degrees. that is warmest we have been at all day long. west wind at 17 miles an hour, wind chill temperature down at 18 degrees, storm scan three showing us even over the last hour or so some snow shower activity is starting to taper off, returns disappearing and excuse me as we push close to sunset and after sunset this snow shower activity will start to wind down but we have some heavy snow showers coming down in and around atlantic city back in absecon port republic reducing visibility and any snow showers and squals meant business today forks township in northampton county half inch of snowfall in five minutes, five minutes, yeah, that will screw up your commute. as we head into tonight snow showers coming to an end, mostly clear, blustery and frigid down to 18 degrees for the day tomorrow mix of sun and cloud, that is still good. still windy, 36. still cold but we will get above freezing. we will melt some of this, snow out there wind gusts are

elevated in the 20, 30, even 40 miles an hour range and we have this wind advisory for the next hour and a half on i-95 corridor points south and e for strong wind speed having a big impact on the feels like temperature heading in the 9:00 o'clock hour feeling sub freezing in the poconos. single digit wind chill, north and west of i-95, feeling like 2 degrees by 7:00 o'clock hour for your thursday morning commute, all bundled up heading out to the car feeling like six below in the poconos, feeling like 10 in philadelphia, teens down the shore, as we head into lunchtime not much improvement still feeling like teens in many reporting sites and as we head in the evening hours, wind chills temperatures still down in the 20's even though highs will reach up in the 30 's but some improvement for st. patrick's day sunshine 41. we will watch out for some rain and snow showers developing, late evening and overnight so keep that in mind if you do have friday night plans, you'll contend with that. down the shore tomorrow mostly sunny, windy, cold, 38 in the

poconos. mix of cloud and sunshine still wind and a high of 24. we will above freezing, long i-95 so from wilmington, trenton we will melt this snow sunshine will help out as well in areas that don't make it to the freezing mark. lehigh valley, berks county, poconos we will start to see melting of snow lingering out there and for upcoming weekend scattered rain showers into saturday, milder up to 48 degrees, dry day of the weekend is on sunday and then on monday we will officially kicked off spring season sunshine and 50 degrees so not too bad, back to you at the desk. well, coming up in sports we will shuffle off to buffalo as villanova gets ready for the tournament. >> leslie. >> villanova now knows who they are playing what is the game plan. hear from the team com

he is junior robinson, 5-foot five, smallest player in the tournament, and he can dunk. he led mountaineers last night in the 67-66 victory over new orleans. they entered as a 16th seed, a 16th seed and never ever beaten a number one and nova does not want to be the first. they are not taking anything for granted. >> they have a couple great guard, they are small but they are good. inner really good, they are stuff. we will just to have focus on the game plan and play basketball. >> they have great little guard that is really creative and they look for each other, but they are a tough team. >> let me tell you something guys this team is all business their motto just take it within game at a time. that is latees from buffalo, don, now back to you at the pavilion. >> one game at a time. they have been doing it all

season long. let's switch from the bige to the ivy league, we're talking about princeton they are in this tournament as well and they will play in buffalo tomorrow as well. they are the 12th seed, they will take on the number five seed notre dame, fighting irish who in the ac c championship game. meanwhile princeton one of the hottest teams in the country they have not who since late december. they are 14 and zero in the ivy league and they are pretty confident heading into tomorrow. >> i think it is a great team and that is what we have talked about. we rely on one guy in particular, the group, it is really a group, and they find themselves through each other and they are talk ago this way now too. >> you can see with the looks on their face standing up in front of the everybody saying this means a great deal to them. >> once again we will get you ready for the madness, check out our special, tonight at 7:30 it is march to phoenix, presented by ago another at
