witnesses there, people say, mode over people. helicopters were brought in. early reports of gunfire, but it's pierce that was, in fact, police shooting at the suspect. that is from police sources. a spokesman for the prime minister meanwhile saying that, according to the reuters agency, telling the reuters agency that the prime minister, theresa may, was at no time in harm's way. session of parliament was suspended. they were told to stay inside until being evacuated. the houses of parliament and big ben, very popular tourists sites in the u.k. tens of thousands of people go there every day. the area has been blocked off. tube stations in the area shut down. alex, this investigation remains underway at this hour. >> seems like there's a heavy police presence in place before the attack began. can you tell us about the security perimeter and what the police presence looks like as of right now?

>> really, throughout europe, as you can imagine, a heightened sense of security. the past few years of attacks have driven more police officers and security into the streets. certainly, in europe, of course here in the u.k. as well. thousands of police officers wherever you go inside the tubes, on the streets. you will see them. this area, in particular, the houses of parliament, especially around the houses of parliament, most police officers don't carry guns. that is not the case in the houses of parliament. that area, a focus for security primarily because of the politics that unfold inside but also because to have the draw for tourists. this is an area not only the houses of parliament and big ben, as we mentioned, but across the thames river is the london eye, the ferris wheel, an area traveled by tens of thousands of people every single day, the number one site, in fact, on instagram that people go to in the u.k. to upload photos. so security in this area has been very much a concern.

a concern now as the perimeter remains. the subways, we're told, have been stopped, for the most part to stop the flow of people coming to parliament so emergency vehicles can have an easier time getting in and out. i want to put it in perspective. i want to tell you how critical this area is. this attack was reported at 2:40 in the afternoon. it only took six minutes for ambulances to arrive at the scene. >> an attack in the heart of london that is being called a terrorist incident. jonathan vigliotti in london, thank you. we'll continue to follow this developing story. our coverage will continue throughout the day on this cbs station and on our 24-hour screaming network cbsn. scott pelley will have a complete wrap up tonight on the cbs news. this has been a thbz special report. i'm alex wagner, cbs news

indictment made public yesterd yesterday. "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden is live at the federal court nouse center city where district attorney seth williams is set to appear this afternoon g afternoon, joe. >> reporter: jim, good afternoon. the calls for seth williams resignation are far reaching even the power brokers in his own party say he should step aside. in the meantime seth williams has two am date with a judge. >> at any moment district attorney seth williams will enter federal court federal magistrate will are a rain the chief officer. he's accused of bribery, extortion and wire and honest services fraud. his arraignment a brief court appearance where bail will be set is scheduled for 2:00 o'clock. alleging that he engaged in series of corrupt transactions in which he sought and accepted bribes in the form of money, ex expensive vacations, airline tickets, a jaguar xk8

convertible, expensive furniture and other things of value. >> reporter: felony charges stem from alleged criminal activity by williams. the offenses date back to 2012 when prosecutors say williams approached the first of two unidentified business associates. over the years the indictment claims williams solicited or was offered expensive trips to the caribbean, vacations plane tickets, cash, furniture and a luxury convertible. the fbi says in exchange williams offered official acti action. court documents show he work to reduce a jail sentence at the request of a business associate. it's also claimed williams attempted to relax a layer of security at philadelphia international airport. the top prosecutor is also accused of defrauding a nursing home agents say williams pocked social security and pension payments from a relative. that money was intended for the unidentified person's care at a nursing home. mr. williams simply took money that did not belong to him.

welcome back f your pepsi comes in 2-liter bottle you may want to start looking for that size outside of philadelphia. blaming the city's sacks on sweetened drinks the beverage giant will stop selling 2-liter bottles and 12 packs of pepsi, mountain dew, gatorade and lipton iced tea. mayor kenney' office says that the industry has been trending towards smaller sizes well before the tack passed. earlier this month you may recall pepsi blamed the tax for plan toss lay off workers at its distribution plants. busy part of center city will be shut down in just about an hour. walnut street broad and 17th streets will be blocked to traffic between 1:00 this afternoon and 8:00 tonight. tv showing taping at that location so you can expect traffic delays in that area as people try to get around the closures. >> speaking of tv we'll remembering one of the giants in the world of television game shows today. philly native and drexel

talk about scary situation. this played out highway in tennessee. it was all caught on camera. a tractor trailer was blown into a car during a severe storm as you can see the back of the truck slowly starts to crush the suv. nearby drivers were urging the driver of the suv to get out of the car. though through his passenger side. no word on the extent of the damage or if anyone was hurt. that doesn't get any easier to watch. >> yup. >> no kidding that's one of the more disturbing videos i've seen in while. you cannot do anything about that. those high profile vehicles don't do well,. >> even on a sunny day with no wind i stay away from trucks. >> scare way were the weather can do. over bridges want not. that wind can really have an

impact on you. the winds actually pretty harsh out this morning into the afternoon. i've seen gusts to 40 miles an hour. generally 35 miles an hour but we'll talk about that. we'll start things off by taking on a tour here though of some of our cameras. this is actually one of our newer camera shots outside we go here live look overlooking center city from center city at the central parkway library you see the building off in the distance. thirtieth street station is somewhere back there but it's a bright beautiful looking sunny day this particular camera is very well secured. so looks are incredibly deceiving. on camera like this. let's go next to one much our pocono cameras outside we go do blue mountain this begins to shake and rock and roll because the wind picking up here. i have seen a couple of skiers out here but the snow is starting to melt away a little bit here and also with the wind it's very harsh feeling outside. so i'm not shocked to not see that many people out here enjoying an afternoon. here another one looks like the camera actually is stuck right now but it was also rocking and

rolling because of the wind this is one of our less secure cameras. it tends to shake a lot but i actually like that gives i was sense of what the weather is really doing outside and it is quiet with more sun than anything but certainly chilly. march a whole as we've talked about especially last week has definitely been chilly. yesterday we gotten above average today. today even though we were actually in the upper 40s very early in the morning long before the sun came up today will end up being a below average day. we see the current temperatures you'll understand why. storm scan nice and quiet. we had a cold front passage that's where these clouds are coming from. but things have really cleared out nicely. the problem is, these are the wind gusts that you're currently facing when you walk out the door it is very blustery and with it coming out of the northwest and the fact that there's colder air funneling it does feel a heck of a will the colder than the term meter reads we take that exact set of observations and turn over to feels like values it feels more like it's basically at or below freezing from i-9 i-95 a and on north and west. mount pocono suffering more like one in terms of wind chill now.

>> congratulations to you both on this 30 years. who would have thought? >> thank you. >> who would have thought? we certainly didn't. we thought we'd get a few -- decade or so out of the it. we figure we'd get ten oh or 12 years and it's been 30. it's fantastic we get to celebrate with what's airing this week with all this stuff that we shot in sidney austral australia. it's beautiful. we get to shoot all over the world. but what's happening this week to celebrate 30 years is a couple of weddings down in australia and that's all on the air this week. it's really nice. >> yeah. we have some scenes where we're reminiscing and you'll see flash backs that go all the way wack to the very beginning of the shows. >> that's the key thing. you've been there since the very beginning. what has it been like for the two of you to go on this journey together and what do you even remember the first day of show. >> oh, yeah. we do. it's very exciting to walk on that set and to see these beautiful sets built and to see our characters immediately begin try to jump into these
