tans team up to save several people from this burning home, down the shore, in a dramatic rescue. good after noon everyone i'm ukee washington. i'm jessica dean. that house caught on fire not once but twice. >> "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is in wildwood crest with the details on the fiery rescue, greg? >> reporter: well, thanks, ukee. this fire was incredible but what was more incredible was rescue of the seven people inside basically 6:00 o'clock yesterday evening the entire second floor of this beach house, consumed by flames, and if you walk with me there were seven people inside but right here three people, trapped on that balcony, no where to go, until neighbors came to their rescue. >> seeing the flames, realiz ing what little is left of this five unit wildwood crest beach home and it is amazing seven people inside, got out with barely a scratch. >> the entire front of the second floor, apartment was engulfed in flames. >> reporter: corporal chris, and officer neil cullens already on the scene around

6:00 monday night. >> we made entry in the house. >> reporter: john lynch driving home from work and mayor even i, saw what happened, stopped and made this rescue of community effort. >> we had fire, smoke blowing every where. >> you can see a this is a very small opening, you and i, arrived here, and it was right there. >> reporter: they were on the second floor, only way out was , jumping essentially. >> yes, only way out was jumping. >> i did the best, like drop her, right now. and she dropped, and, ernie caught her, like this, you know, i jumped right into ernie and officer redd was right underneath us. >> there was no way anything was happening to that little girl. >> reporter: that young girl her brother and her uncle all saved from this balcony. fire fighters had removed two parents and child from the first floor and on the other side was officer cullens, no mask kicking down a door. >> we pulled out a elderly woman.

escape. one fire fighter suffered a burn to the shoulder but is recovering. umbrella is a must have accessory today, it has been gray, glummy for most of the day. we found people dodging rain drops at 16th and walnut earlier today, getting a break from the rain right now but we are not in the clear just yet. meteorologist kate bilo is here with a look at what to expect the rest of the evening , kate. >> reporter: ukee to day has been rough, on and off we have had gusty thunderstorms rolling through, very heavy pockets of rain with any of these storms during the morning commute, another one around midday and then till, this system impacting our area you can see that classic comma shape of the storm lifting out to new england. we are on the back edge but just not seeing a ton of clearing. further south they have had more sunshine today, that is a double edged sword with the sun around d.c. and maryland and virginia, now we have got some storms firing up, but the fact that we have kept things cloudy, drizzly and cooler should inhibit any further storm development as we go through tonight. there could be an isolated one to the south budd mainly we

are looking at cloud, drizzle and scattered showers and that is your picture right now on storm scan three. you can sea the green in the north and west, few pockets to the south this storm getting underway right around dover right now slowing things down for those traveling south on i-95 or north and that could cross in south jersey here within the next hour or so. everything is a little bit scattered tonight, there could be a isolated storm off to the south, a slow commute, outside but we will clear it out overnight and i've got better news with the full forecast, finally some sunshine but how long does it last? i'll tell you, jessica. >> big question, thanks very much. search continues tonight for shooter who opened fire in philadelphia's northern liberties neighborhood. gunfire and the exhaustive police search, following it led to last night's shut down of the northbound lanes of the interstate i-95. "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves is live with more on where the investigation stand right now, alycia. >> reporter: jessica, there were investigators here earlier today at the scene and for most of the day authorities still trying to

piece together exactly what happened here right now focus of the investigation, seems to be an earlier reports of the shooting, reports that the gunfire may have come from the fifth floor of the nearby vacant building. it was a shooting in northern liberties, that shut down part of the city yesterday, as this busy rush hour. >> i heard someone was shooting cars from the roof. >> reporter: with some concern about a possible snipper situation, police closed i-95, and north front street for hours, several blocks along spring garden were blocked and this building under construction was barricaded. >> three individual that were working on a renovated building, they were inside the building when they heard three gunshots and they believed that the gunshots came from inside of the building. >> reporter: a swat team swept building before, floor by floor finding no one but authorities did find a chevy silverado that was at least a football field away struck twice by bullets. bullets hitting driver's side as woman associated with

delilah's gentlemen's club was getting in the truck. >> she was really lucky she was not struck by gunfire because she was inches away. >> reporter: investigators unsure if the woman was targeted and saying away from saying this is a snipper situation until they can prove it. >> i can confirm there are marks on the window sill of the window, that was facing the scene. >> reporter: crime scene unit outside gentlemen's club today , detectives inside the vacant building, focusing on the fifth floor window, trying to determine if the stripe marks were from bullets or construction, going on inside of the building. and, in addition to, in addition to still processing the scene here authorities are looking for surveillance video nearby businesses inside of the plaza they are asking anyone who was in this area around 6:00 last night to give them a call if they notice or spot anything suspicious. reporting live, from northern liberties, alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". police charged 22-year old , in connection with the

death of the two-year old boy in the west oak lane section. nesmith has been charged when danger the welfare of the child. two-year old asim jones was found unresponsive in the 7100 block of north 15th street later in the week. cause of the death was still under investigation. fire works inside an outside of the courtroom as indicted philadelphia district attorney seth williams appears for his hearing, on his representation. this afternoon court heard arguments from williams attorney michael diamondstein who said he could no longer represent williams due to other client conflicts and fears he won't get paid. judge told williams he must decide by from whether he will obtain new counsel or his bail could be revoke. our joe holden was inside the courtroom and coming up on "eyewitness news" at 6:00 he will have a live report on the hearing and what happened outside federal court when protesters showed up. president trump visited the epa headquarters where he signed an executive order that

do have scattered showers outside, ponding on the road from the earlier rain and that will lead to a slow go across the area here's a look outside starting off with our roof cam which looks brighter then it did earlier, little bit of the lull in the city at lee but we have showers, pretty much even circling the entire region right now, depending where you are as part and parcel of the larger storm system, you can see on storm scan three pushing in new england. that is where we saw earlier this line of intense showers, storms that pushed through in the morning and through midday they have shifted off to the north ande but still see scattered showers, area that did see more sun and warning off to the south and they were in that severe threat from yesterday, that is where thunderstorm activity is. it is a good thing we have kept it, cooler and more cloudy, we have stabilized the atmosphere. so not as much being able to pop. we have one storm traversing the delaware bay here moving from kent county, delaware into south jersey, scattered showers, drizzle, mist, fog

all across the area and good snap chat what today has looked like. this is in broadheadville, foggy, glummy, cloudy, damp and really will not get any better through remainder of this evening. right now 54 degrees in philadelphia, 51 allentown, 51 in reading. we are seeing wind switch a bit and as we go through tonight wyndmoor northerly flow bringing cooler, dryer air in the region and finally clear us out as we head through overnight hours and tomorrow. just a stray shower, through about 8:00 mainly cloudy at 10:00 and by midnight patchy fog develops but cloud gradual ly start to break. we are on the down swing with this storm through this evening, and few scattered showers here and there, cloud breaking up overnight and we may have lingering cloud cover tomorrow morning but depending where you are you'll wake up tomorrow morning from the sit on south east and wake up to cloud cover north and west more sunshine to start the day and then by lunchtime we will clear out completely and

more than 100 women have come forward, and shared stories shockingly similar to mine. >> former members of the u.s. gymnastics team testify on capitol hill today, some say they were sexually abused by one of their coaches. senate committee is looking into how to better protect young athletes from predators. news continues at 5:30. hi everyone i'm jessica dean. i'm ukee washington. legislation is considered to require governing bodies overseeing olympic sports to immediately report abuse allegations to authorities. cbs correspondent weijia jiang has more from capitol hill. >> did you realize you were being abused at the time. >> i didn't. >> reporter: maddie larson is among former members of the u.s. woman's gymnastics team who spoke on capitol hill tuesday sharing their stories of sexual abuse, at the hand of someone they trusted, team doctor lawrence naser. >> 's boosted me at national training center in texas. he abused me in california, at

meets, and all over the world. >> reporter: last month cbs news chief medical correspondent, john lepuke reported on 60 minutes at least 60 gymnast claimed he abused them. their lawyer say that number today is more than 100. at no time was there ever another adult in the room. >> reporter: victims testified that u.s.a. gymnastic officials and coaches are also to blame, for creating a culture of high pressure and fear that made them scared to come forward. the culture was money and medals. the culture wasn't about the girls. >> reporter: senators are working to pass legislation that would require amateur athletic groups to immediately report sex abuse allegations to police, strengthen oversight of gyms and coaches and ensure victims can safely and easily report abuse. >> no one ever asked us what happened in there. it was much easier. >> reporter: u.s.a. gymnastics did not attend the hearing but

issued a statement saying in part we are dealing with a serious problem and we re commit ourselves to promoting a safe environment for our athletes. larson says for the first time that she feels hopeful, future gymnast won't have to go through what she just d weijia jiang for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". there are new developments tonight in the upcoming re trial of the former monday or william lynn. judge in philadelphia said that sheila how one other church abuse victim to testify , and that she will decide on three others before the trial. lynn is being retried after serving nearly three years of the three to six year sentence in a child endangerment case. pennsylvania supreme court, threw out conviction over weeks of testimony from priest abuse victims not directly tied to his case. lynn, is accused of endangering a alter boy who was assaulted by a priest in 1999. texas mother has filed a complaint with the tsa saying agency performed an excessive pat down of her 13 year-old son. the video of the screening in

dallas fort worth international airport seen here, went viral after mom jennifer williams posted it on facebook. williams said she and her son were quote treated like dogsed and forced to miss a flight because of the extensive security check. >> i believe he he was padded down excessively. they went over his sensitive area a little more necessary giving that he was not wearing bulky clothing or anything like that. >> agents performed extra check after lap top was found in the teen's bag. williams says her son was traumatize by pat down, tsa says procedures were part of the new standard that went in effect, instead of variations there is just one full body pat down. today white house denied interfering in the investigation into russian interference in the presidential election. former deputy attorney general sally yates was scheduled to testify at a house intelligence hearing today, and cbs has learned that yates was prepared to contradict

previous white house statements about the firing of the national security advisor michael flynn. yates attorney asked white house for permission to testify, but white house lawyers never responded before the hearing was cancelled. >> on the 24th, mrs. yates attorney sent letter requesting that consent, specifically state ago this if they did not receive a response by march 27th at 10:00 a.m. they would quote conclude that the white house does not assert executive privilege over these matters. the white house did not respond and took no action, that prevented miss yates from testifying. >> house intelligence committee chairman devon nunez says he cancelled the hearing because he need more information, from fbi director james comey to day nunez blew off democratic calls to recues himself from the investigation president trump welcomed the national fraternal order of police union today to the white house. philadelphia fop lodge five president john mcnesby met with the president. president trump pledged to work with them to make the country safer.

damp, and this rain has, lasted, it was a little bit more intense then expected. it looked like more scattered showers and storms but we had rain on and off, not a lot of the break in the action and that has kept temperatures, stuck only in the 50's. now there is good news in that i'll explain why in just a moment. see storm scan three shows this large system, actual center is right over our region. over portions of delaware to the south of that low we are seeing thunderstorm activity, down around hampton road area of virginia, norfolk, washington d.c., more rainfall falling across portions of new england. area that did get warmer and see sun break out down across maryland, southern delaware and virginia. those are spots seeing threat for thunderstorms this evening because is there more instability in the atmosphere thanks to that sun. we have had more cloud, more of that light rain, drizzle so we are seeing scattered showers here this evening. one little cell pushing toward maurice river could impact cape may count which a brief

sure or thunderstorm. in the meantime doesn't look too bad. we have got some sun in cape may courthouse and temperatures have warmed up there just a little bit. don't think that temperature is exactly accurate right now but you can see cloud broken up here and there and definitely warmer off to the south. sixty-four in wildwood. head down in sussex county dent what i will delaware and see temperatures as well. see that swirl of cloud, right overhead center of the low just south of the philadelphia , temperatures to the north of that low center only in the 50's, to the south , that is where your 70's are. wind switch. north wind coming in behind the low, in areas off to the west where we're starting to clear things out. and, clear skies, will be the case for next two days. we are looking at sunny skies for wednesday, thursday, really a pleasant pair of mid weekday and better for weekend but weekend looks similar to this seasonal highs. on light wind on thursday. breezy tomorrow. low humidity both wednesday and thursday if only it could stay that way, right. heading in to tomorrow we will start the day with a few cloud , sun breaks out around lunchtime and as we head into
