welshing your umbrella will get a work out today a wet morning is turning into a soaker of the day, storm scan three is tracking the strong storm, one that is expected to drop heavy rain across the region. the afternoon drive could be slow and sloppy. good afternoon, i'm jim donovan. i'm rahel solomon. meteorologist lauren casey tracking rain storm and hear to tell us what to expect, here's lauren. still ahead of us as we head in the afternoon and

evening, the rainfall intensity will increase and we have within dealing with extremely, soggy conditions, and, just a miserable, even to the workweek. storm scan three is showing us a ton of moisture, every where you can see that rain has spread across the delaware valley over last several hours but the heaviest rain is just up wind at this point where we will see those returns to the darker green, yellow and orange, starting to move into lancaster county, and chester county in the next 30 minutes to half an hour. it will move northeast. we will see it moving autopsy long the i-95 corridor heading in the next couple of hours. we have picked up healthy rainfall totals. hatfield, closing in on a inch three-quarters in allentown at airport picking up a half inch of rainfall, already. but check this out, future weather as we head in the rest of the day there is that heavier rain, widespread, in nature as we head in the afternoon. 6:00 o'clock future weather showing us, misery, on the road. at least it is friday as we

head in the evening hours, still seeing some shower activity around and a few embedded thunderstorm as well. we will talk about that storm chance and when all this wet weather is going to clear on out, can we save the weekend? we will have the answer coming up. and, well we have breaking news to tell but an update to a story we told but last week, camden county medical examiner has determined that a pair of seven month-old twin girls, found, dead in a lindenwald apartment, died of natural causes. the girls were found unresponsive, by their mother, last wednesday. also developing this noon in delaware county chester police say a six year-old girl has died after being run over by her mother. it happened just after 9:00 on the 200 block of ivy street. child was rushed to crozer-chester medical center where she was pronounced dead. police are investigating the circumstances surrounding that incident. and, philadelphia top prosecutor is set to face a federal judge again this afternoon. district attorney seth williams is expected to tell the court whether he has retained a new lawyer as he

fights corruption charges. "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos is live outside federal court in center city with what is at stake now. greg, good afternoon. >> reporter: good afternoon, rahel, a lot at stake for district attorney seth williams now face ago this federal corruption case. today williams at 2:00 will face a federal judge and he must prove he has secured himself, new, legal representation, and if he hasn't, the judge could revoke his one, and send the d.a. to jail. district attorney seth williams is due back in federal court, on friday afternoon. a 2:00 p.m. hearing scheduled where williams is expected to report on when has found a new defense lawyer for his federal bribery and extortion case. do you plan to resign. >> reporter: tuesday williams current attorney michael diamondstein asked a magistrate judge to allow him to leave the case saying williams, whose annual salary totals more than $175,000 a year, did not have enough money to pay him. judge ordered diamondstein to

continue to represent williams and gave the embattled district attorney, until this afternoon to find new representation. williams is accused of taking more than $100,000 in cash and gifts, in exchange, for favors he has pleaded not guilty. despite calls from the bar association, and even the mayor to resign, seth williams has not. he is still the district attorney of philadelphia. once again he is due back in court today at 2:00 o'clock. we will be there providing you updates at five and 6:00. we are live at federal courthouse in center city, i'm greg argos for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >>thanks for that update. inner news a person is now in police custody in connection with the northern liberties shooting earlier this week. the temporarily shut down a portion of i-95. on tuesday witnesses told police they heard gunshots on the 500 block hoff north front street. the gun fire hit a woman's car just as she got in to it but fortunately she was not hurt. officers searched an apartment complex, nearby, for clues, and police say, that no charges have been filed

against the person currently in custody. missing federal judge we told but yesterday, has been found, safe and sound. ninety-one year-old former judge edwin costic was found miles from his home. two teenagers spotted his gray acura in dunmore lackawana county. he was found a hundred yard from the car. he was conscious and alert but has been taken to the hospital to be check out. well this morning we told but a two alarm house fire in delaware county in the same area with down power lines. fire officials still trying to determine what caused the blaze on, in half tone. no word whether the down power lines were involved. 14,000 customers were in the dark this morning when peco says power is back on right now. there are no reported injuries from the fire. well, is there a large section of the interstate 85 in atlanta is nothing but a pile of smoldering, ruble. part of the highway collapsed during rush hour when a fire broke out over an under pass. fortunately no one was hurt but as correspondent don champion explains, drivers are dealing with major traffic headaches, in wake of the

disaster. >> reporter: crews are using heavy equipment to pound away at the section of i85 that is now pancake to the ground. workers are breaking it up so investigators can get a closer look. all right, yes. >> reporter: this was the scene during rush hour, last night. a fire burning underneath the interstate sent flames and thick cloud of black smoke into the air, crews tried to douse it, but the heat was just too intense. i85 has collapsed here. >> reporter: drivers traveling north and south on i85 had no where to go, and traffic stretched for miles. these women got out of their cab and decided to walk. it just, said pull over here, and we're going to walk, like 4 miles we had to walk. >> reporter: interstate 85 is a major artery that runs through the heart of atlanta, carrying over a quarter of a million cars every day. the cork has just been put in the bottle. think about one of the major arteries that comes in and out of this city, where folks move

north and south, through our state, a chunk of it has been taken out of play. >> reporter: officials are unclear what started the fire. i heard was that it was some pvc products that caught fire and i do not know why they did, or what the source of their transport was, but those are questions that we will hoping are to be answered >> reporter: officials say the interstate near the collapse is closed indefinitely as engineers try to determine to build it back. don champion for cbs-3, "eyewitness news". president trump's former national security advisor michael flynn says he is ready to testify before the house and senate committees investigating russian interference in the presidential election but first, flynn is seeking immunity before answering any questions. his lawyer said in a statement to cbs news general flynn certainly has a story to tell and very much wants to tell it piece of avert work stolen more than 40 years ago is finally returned. well, coming up, norman

welcome back. museum curators in scotland uncovered an anxious piece of egyptian history. they found it inside a crumbled up paper bag. cbs correspondent jonathan vigliotti has a closer look at remarkable discovery. >> reporter: it looks like garbage just waiting to be tossed out, but after more

than 70 years, sitting on a shelf in the national museum of scotland's storage, a team of curious curators finally peaked inside. it was really exciting to be able to get it out,. >> reporter: doctor margaret mainland made the discovery. museum collections, as well. >> reporter: that highlight, a 2,000 year-old mummy shroud, type of the linen cloth used to wrap bodies of high ranking egyptians. doctor mateland shroud was so fragile it took 24 hours of humidifying to unwrap. each fold revealed another part of the shroud, was just so exciting, to see his face, emerge. >> reporter: she says that the final result was, so well preserved they could even read the name of the deceased, as i amca and the museum already had relics of his well studied parents. his father, a high ranking

egyptian official, mount suef and his mother. the shroud officially goes on display this week. museum still has over 11 million pieces from all over the world in storage. who knows what other treasures are waiting to be discovered. jonathan vigliotti, cbs news, london. a norman rockwell painting stolen more than 40 years ago is now back with the family that owns it this morning the fbi returned this famous oil on canvas paint to go members of the grant family. it was one of the several items taken during a 1976 break in, of the cherry hill home. it just remind me of my childhood, you know, every where, and every where i went, in every house and it is just really good feeling. my childhood was really g seeing that brings back all of its memories. >>good for them. work dates back to 1919, that has been known as various titles, taking a break, lazy bones and boy asleep with the ho. fbi agents recovered painting with the help of the anonymous person who was not involved in

we have a live look at center city philadelphia we have low cloud in place. rain continuing to fall obscuring view of the sky line temperature 44 degrees. we have a breeze out of the northeast. umbrella will get turned inside out, just miserable conditions toned the workweek. we have a flood watch in effect for large portion of the delaware valley through late tonight and rainfall accumulations will be on the order of two to potentially 4 inches through this event, so what to expect this afternoon and evening? steady rain, continuing, widespread, heavy rainfall and especially as we head in the late afternoon and early evening, due to the presence of low level jet or strong wind in the mid levels. we could see embedded thunderstorms as well. it will be a tough go. poor visibility. watch for road spray, ponding

on the roadways, lot of puddling. you will want to leave that extra time, for your evening commute, storm scan three is showing us heaviest rain hasn't even arrived yet. that is positioned right here, just off to our west, moving northeast bound, we are seeing yellow, orange colors starting to build in chester county. we are seeing steady, heavy rain in and around west goshen that rainfall will continue to increase for you, heavy rain over spreading now berks county, rainfall intensity in reading is about to pick up, over the next 20 minutes. we have seen rain on i-95 in center city philadelphia it will be even heavier and more steady and that would be the trend down the shore as well. we are seeing scattered showers, period of rain, so far but that will all fill in, over the next couple of hours and you'll be dealing with steady rain along the coast as well and there is that heavier rain starting to build in and that will be the trend over the next several hours, so this afternoon, it is just going to be soggy and miserable and of course, we have had breeze to boot, wind east at ten to 15, enclose to 20 miles an hour, visibility are reduced and they will stay

that way as we head in the second half of the day today, temperatures right now, they are chilly, 44 degrees in philadelphia temperatures generally in the 40's to near 50 degrees. so for this evening, heavy rain, thunderstorms, temperatures in the middle 40 's, for tonight, areas of rain, we will start to let up a little bit, breezy conditions, 42 degrees, future weather showing us as we head throughout the day still dealing with soaking conditions, and the rainfall, widespread in nature will start to end as we head into the late evening but still period of rain overnight tonight, and then, dry, out, as we head in the upcoming weekend but some of these rainfall totals, outrageous, two, three, potentially even 4 d into early tomorrow morning, so, a wet go over the next 12 hours, but improving, conditions, as we head into the upcoming weekend, jim and rahel, where near 60 with sunshine, on sunday. thanks, so much, lauren. well, saddle up for country music's biggest nice, dirks bentley and luke brian will return a hoes of academy of country music word.
