everyone enjoying summer. it kicked in on saturday. we have had sunshine and temperatures have been gradual ly warming up each day ever since then. we did break some record today record high temperature, set in allentown at 85 degrees. reading also a record at 85. our high in dover was 82. our high is 81 in philadelphia we did break a record in mount pocono topping off at 80. we're very close to those high temperature, 84 good redding. day number two of 80, 79 degrees in wilmington, storm scan three is showing us quiet conditions just a couple of patchy high level cloud, in the ruling out possibility of pop up stray, very stray, thunder shower, as we head into the next several hours with some of this daytime heating, otherwise, we will see variable cloud cover as we head in the second half of the evening but temperatures incredibly warm 75 degrees for 8:00 p.m. hour. sixty-eight by 10 and still in the middle 60's into midnight. we have a chance of a shower tomorrow we will talk about the best time to have that

trucks comes a bit of relax says. >> ♪ >> reporter: a lone violin player at corner of walnut and 17th street, the intersection and epicenter of many drivers anger. >> what do you think of the traffic. >> i hate it. can't wait to get out of it. >> reporter: 9:30 last night this busy street shut down after water department emergency crew called to the scene of the quote, small depression, which turned out to be a large sinkhole. >> it ended up being a break on the 3-inch service, feeding building behind us. >> reporter: all customers in these apartments without water water department spokesmen john dejulio says service expected to be restored by this evening but 17th street between walnut and locust is expected to remain closed throughout the evening rush. >> we may be able to open up the street overnight. >> reporter: water crews had to wait hours for peco to arrive and make work space safe. all the while traffic moving at a snail's pace.

that is coming your way at 6:00 o'clock. delaware judge hears closing arguments in the trial of three girls charged in the school bathroom ought case that turned deadly. judge will deciding whether the teens are responsible for the death of amy joyner frances. "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves was in the courtroom in wilmington today. >> reporter: three delaware teens charged in the death of their classmate should soon know their fates. >> we're all devastated. it is almost like reliving in it for the first time. >> reporter: father for teen who died last april have this bathroom brawl inside howard high school of technology had to watch his daughter's last moments, captured on student cell phone video at lee four times today, as judge heard four hours of closing arguments from prosecutors, and defense attorneys for each teen charged. >> amy was hit 26 times. she was kick six times. you could see that she was kicked in her head. >> reporter: prosecutors started their argument by showing student's cell phone

shot video saying it is an obvious attack, brutal beat down, arguing joyner frances never saw it coming. defense attorney for each teen charged did not dispute that amy joyner frances died in a most tragic way, but video captures a mutual fight where each teen was responsible, and no one could have known that joyner frances had a rare melody sees that would cause her death after the bathroom brawl. >> the three teens charged, including the one facing criminally negligent homicide could potentially face no jail time because of a juvenile system there is no mandate for jail time so charges each teen is facing. >> that is tough, because at the end of the day three young laid hoist caused the life of a beautiful young lady named amy joyner frances they get to go home and the joyner frances family has to go to the cemetery or look at pictures. >> reporter: judge is expected to make a ruling on this case thursday morning deciding the fate of the three teens charged. in wilmington alycia nieves for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

trial for accused killer eric frein continues in pike county today jury watched a three hour video taped confession. video shows two state police interrogators pressing frein on why he targeted two troopers at blooming grove barracks on september 12th, 2014. frein was arrested 48 days later after a manhunt in the pocono mountains. coming up on "eyewitness news" at 5:30 we will have a detailed report on that confession and tape. there are new developments in bill cosby's sexual assault case. seventy-nine year-old entertainer is due in a pittsburgh courtroom for jury selection may between the second. process could take about a week. once jury selection is complete they will be brought to montgomery county. they will remain sequestered for duration of the trial which is set to begin june 5th environmental group is making an appeal into natural gas pipelines set to run through the new jersey pine land. sierra club is appealing new jersey pine land commission approval of that pipeline. the group says that the project is not benefiting

people living in the area. the pipeline is designed to survey cape may power plant, that is switching from coal to gas. secretary of state rex tillerson is in russia to prepare for talks about syria 's use of chemical weapons in that country's civil war. tillerson arrived in moscow this morning. the white house says tillerson is prepared to tell the kremlin it is time to make a choice, join western allies or stick with syrian president bashar al-assad. russia continues to deny syrian government was behind last weeks chemical attack which killed more than 80 people, the u.s. responded to the chemical attack with air strikes on a syrian air base. >> it was very clear that the assad regime planned it, orchestrated and executed it. if they used chemical weapons they are going to pay a very, very stiff price. >> defense secretary james mattis says defeating isis remains number one goal of the united states, north korea's nuclear program will also be

discussed with russia. president trump tweeted saying north korea is looking for trouble if china decide to help, that would be great. if not, we will solve the problem without them. u.s.a. president is also focusing on the economy, today he welcomed ceo's from some of the nation's largest companies to washington. they held a strategic, policy discussion at eisenhower executive office building. the business leaders spoke with five cabinet secretaries about issues ranging from job creation, to infrastructure and tax reform. president trump touted monthly jobs reports released during his presidency. >> we have created over 600,000 jobs already in a very short period of time and it will really start catching on now because some of the things that we have done bigly and they are catching on. >> the 20 business leaders belonged to president trump's strategy and policy forum. a mural to remember those who have passed away was un veiled today at mercy life center in the cities fair hill

at one time credit card were something that people only used for large purchases, but not anymore. three on your side's jim donovan, explains how plastic is becoming increasingly popular, even for inexpensive purchases. megan subpoena opted to use credit to pay for your cafe. it turns out more americans are choosing credit over debit over cash for small transactions. new survey from credit card .com found 17 percent of card holders used plastic for purchases under five dollars. that is up from 11 percent last year. >> and that is a significant increase. people tend to use their credit card when they feel a little bit more confident, about their financial

the blue truck, was later set on fire and found by police a short distance away. police are also searching for those suspects. family vacation getaway turns stressful when their dog made a getaway of their own. >> very family was boarding general at an animal hospital when they got a call that the 10 year-old dog went missing. he used his mouth and a little ingenuity to open doors at facility and then made it outside and it was all caught on camera when it comes to doors he can get a lot of doors opened. >> that is general's owner travis campbell, surveillance camera eventually captured general walking away from the facility, he was found about 15 hours later. the animal hospital shared photos taken when general was found in the neighborhood behind the animal hospital. >> look at general. >> jennies smart. >> yes, indeed. >> for real. >> a surprise in the night sky , a bright, fireball was, spotted over parts of the southwest. >> it was described as green, and very bright, and hundreds of people saw it.

the end of the game. storm scan three showing us quiet conditions up wind. we have a weak frontal boundary generating showers and we could see a passing shower through first half of our day tomorrow. it will be light in intensity. have the umbrella on stand by just in case but in the afternoon increasing sunshine, temperatures well above average. no 80's but climbing in the middle 70's and we will have a bit of a breeze with wind gusts up to 25 miles an hour. looking ahead to our easter weekend, not too far off now and conditions looking pretty good. and, 76 degrees on the holiday itself, it could be a chance of passing thunder shower and late in the day and then, seven day forecast after we get through that chance of the shower for first half of the day tomorrow we will dry things out once again with another round of sunshine into thursday and friday, 68 degrees on thursday, high of 65 on friday, easter weekend, looking good, for all of your outdoor plans, just watch for that chance of the late day thunder shower and then back to sunshine and long

welcome back i'm ukee washington. i'm jessica dean. california school rocked for, will remain closed until monday. >> correspondent danielle nottingham is in san bernardino where authorities are trying to pinpoint what led to the violence. >> reporter: community members are leaving flowers and personal notes outside north park elementary school, the day after a horrifying classroom shooting. >> i'm saddened for the families of the teacher and little boy. >> reporter: san bernardino police say five three-year old cedric anderson walked in his estranged wife's class monday morning with the handgun and opened fire, on her. five three-year old karen smith was killed, and stray bullets also killed eight year-old student jonathan martinez, and injured a nine year-old student. >> he is in stable condition, he is doing better, and last record we had is that he is in all things considered,

police detective of assault not guilty. adam o'donnell was accused of kicking a suspect in the knee escorting him out of the special victims unit in february 2015. last year police commissioner richard ross suspended o'donnell for 30 days with the intent to dismiss. fop tells thaws o'donnell is attempting to get his job back on the healthwatch tonight , influential government advisory panel is dropping its opposition to routine prostate cancer screenings for men. health reporter stephanie stahl has more on the new guidelines for psa testing. >> reporter: larry bloomberg's life changed when his doctor diagnosed prostate cancer last year. >> we're in time. he said i'm not sure we would have been in time if we, had done this a year or two from now. >> reporter: sixty-nine year-old cancer was detected after he opted to have a psa blood test even though he had no symptoms. screening was not recommended by u.s. preventive services task force, and now based on the latest research, the group has reversed its recommendation and now says

that men, 55 to 69 should have a conversation with their doctor and make a decision for themselves. >> men can reduce their chance of dying of prostate cancer, and reduce their chance of having cancer that spread throughout their body. these are really important benefits, but they occur in a small number of men. >> reporter: concern has been psa testing results in over treating cancers which can lead to serious issues like impotence and incontinence. >> it is not test that is the problem, it is what the reaction to the test is both on the part of the patient and the providers. >> reporter: this doctor was with penn medicine and says advanceness detection and closely monitoring low risk cancers are helping men avoid, drastic treatment. >> as a patient you don't want to panic based on a simple screening test. as a provider you don't want to jump to immediate recommendations for treatment. >> reporter: he had his prostate removed and has had side effects but say they are getting better. >> side effects are nothing

compared to the fact that i will live a long life and enjoy my kid and my grandchildren. >> reporter: were you not everyone with prostate cancer benefits from treatment, the task force says many men can live with prostate cancer without it causing serious illness or death. i'm stephanie stahl, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". pope frances has opened up a laundromat in rome where poor can wash their clothes for free, facility not far from the vatican has washer, dryers, and irons all of which have been donated. vatican says laundromat is intended to restore dignity to people, and in 2013 the pope opened up a free barber shop and showers for homeless and plans are now also in the works for medical services. wedding bells are ringing, pipa middleton will be tying the knot and her famous family members will be playing a role >> pipa's royal nephew and niece will be part of the nuptials planned for next movement prince george will be her boy and prince zest

united airlines stocks fell in the aftermath of the video showing a passenger being dragged off a united plane. social media users threatened to boycott, some signed a petition calling for the united's ceo to resign. but the ceo apologized in a new statement describing the removal as quote truly horrific. united did bounce back a bit but market value still ended

down by about $250 million. well, man charged in the fatal shooting of the pennsylvania state trooper told authorities on the night of his capture quote i did this? no one else did. end quote. according to a videotaped interview played today for jurors in his trial. >> they listened to that three hour confession today and in week two of the eric frein trial and reporter eric sable has the latest from pike county. >> good evening, videotaped interrogation eric frein told state police that he planned the state police shootings by using maps on google earth. he told investigators that he owned finalized the ambush, a weekend before it took place. while investigators used a hand cart to truck exhibits into court on tuesday, their best evidence may have comer from i can frein, himself. a three hour video interrogation from the night of frein's capture was played for jurors. on the video, trina period defeated after a 48 day manhunt. but he was also, regret full.

he said he was alone at the time that the blooming grove state police barracks was ambushed in 2014 and had no help while living in the wood. frein said, all i can say is that i'm sorry. frein, said he was going out to watch the sunset, near an abandoned airplane hanger in monroe county at the time he was caught. he also confirmed that he had been staying at that hanger for a while, and sometimes, saw people go in there to take pictures, but he never talk to them. several and was pressed about why the attack took place. state police corporal benjamin clark asked frein if mrs. dixon and boys were here, what would you tell them. frein replied, i don't know why. i don't know. later in the video, frein told investigators that he was 31 year-old, and still living with his parents. he said, he had no prospects for the future. in their opening statements defense attorneys say that
