route one, jan, jim, back to you. >> after five weeks on the run, the search now over for tennessee teacher accused of kidnapping his 15 year old student. >> melissa rainy spoke with elizabeth thomas' family they're overjoyed that she is safe. >> started getting the text messages, then the phonecalls, you know, 27 text messages. >> all with the news that his 15 year old daughter, elizabeth thomas, was found more than 2,000 miles from home. deep in the mountains, of northern california. >> i'm just so overjoyed to have her home. that she is safe. i cannot wait to see her. >> authority found tad cummings and elizabeth at this row mother cabin northwest every reading, pair spent one night here but may have been in the area for a week, former teacher telling people he was 44 years old, elizabeth was 22. cummings introduced her as his wife. saying they were newlyweds. the cabin's caretaker was the one who alerted law enforcement. >> someone kind of showed me a

picture, i'm ya that's definitely the guy. then called 911 last night. >> fortunately, mr. cummings walked out of the cabin, and he was taken into custody without incident. he didn't resist. and also the 15 year old victim also walked out behind him about the same time and we were able to neutralize them and resolve the situation safely, without anybody getting hurt. >> the fbi now working to get elizabeth back to tennessee, where she will reunite with her family. >> have to figure out what kind of state of minds she in, of covers, and probably get her some help. it may be, may be a long road, you know, but at least we got her back now. we got her back. >> cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> well, the time now 5:35n business news this morning, it has been rough start of the year for verizon. >> money watch's jill wagner joins us live from the new york torque stock exchange with the details. good morning, jill.

>> reporter: good morning, jim, jan, right now futures pointing to higher open. the markets rallied yesterday, as well. dow rose 174-point. the nasdaq gained 53. one reason for that, treasury secretary, said the trump administration will roll out plan for attacks over-hall by the end of this year, the latest. the goal is to simplify the tax code, provide tax relief for the middle class, also cut the tax rate for businesses. for the first time ever, verizon lost more customers than it gained in the first part of this year. it comes as competitors like t-mobile, and sprint, offer phone and data deals to lure customers away. verizon re-introduced its unlimited data plan, helped stop some customers from switching. new class on the classic breakfast in honor of national english muffin day, thomas' releasing breakfast mash-up. bacon butter milk pancake english muffin. the new flavor only available for six weeks, jim, jan?

runs the gamut of things we're foon willing out there. we start thing well off to the north. if you have been with us throughout the morning, know there are showers, heavy rain actually moving through portions of the poconos, that's where keith comes in. he has been reporting some rain falling at this point. pretty high humidity, lot of moisture to work, with he said the rain has been pretty heavy, certainly advising folks to drive safely. head headed up toward i8 # zero, along the northeast extension where you will find some of the rain coming through. we go all the way become down to the south, go into delaware, where a five is the temperature coming in from greg, he's got some rain, as well, at least he did through the overnight. there was some thunder, was some lightning, winds calm downed, still a lot of moisture, so little drizzly, he does have some fog to report at this point. let's switch and take you back over to storm scan, though, and the reasons that we have been seeing the wet weather, well, it is a system, cold front, really, leading edge of it, leading or moving on through here. so until this crosses through, we won't really be done with the front. so the thing is area of low pressure develops on it tail end. that's actually going to help

trigger another round at least of scattered showers if not thunderstorm, and that's where we could end up with maybe little bit of a minor delay, key word though here is pop up, guys, for the phillies game. 66 degrees, at kick -- or first pitch rather, and may be thunder storm in the area f it does pop up over citizens park, that could be poor luck, but could produce pretty gusty wind, briefly but a possibility. looking forward, kind of unsettled pattern. we have system in the mid-atlantic over the weekend, throws clouds, possibly shower back into the weekends, especially sunday, specially south of the city. monday and tuesday bring against chances for showers, tuesday right now looking the most likely for rain. but we should start to warm things up here toward next mid week. meisha? >> katie, thank you so much for. that will good morning, everyone. we are still looking at this live shot of very serious accident, that was a result after police chase that actually happened overnight. at around 2:00 a.m., or so, bristol bucks county. so where are we looking? 95 north at route 413, you are right now being diverted off

event. >> reporter: yes, it is out standing, you're right it, does kick off tonight with a really cool prom-like kick off party. best way to put it. it is 80s. so coming out, do you have dress up like you're from the 80s, it will be pretty cool. so philadelphia science fest, today, nine days, the man, that knows all about it, mickey, good morning. >> good morning, pat. >> so give us little bit of backgrounds as to what science fest is all billion? >> the philadelphia science festival, nine day event, kicks off tonight, and we're starting as you just mentioned with after hours prom at the franklin institute, weaver whole great weekend of programming happening, tomorrow, will be in three different parks, hunting park in north philadelphia, clark park, as well as wissahickon park at the schuylkill center for environmental education, nature palooza, to do science in the park, great weekend kick offer. sunday all about being a scientist. >> sure. >> and we also have really great event happening on saturday, called tinker lab. >> tinker lab, okay.

>> an annual game, donkey basketball, name quite literal as you can see it, raises money here in houston suburb, so high school seniors have safe place to go on graduation night. the organizer says it is all in good fun. but not everyone agrees. >> it is just a fun event. i mean, it is very fun. it is actually quite comical when the donkeys decide they don't want to move. >> there is no way that i would ever condone anything to injury an animal. but i don't support is condoning abusing animals, and laughing about it, they're teaching children -- sending very wrong message in my opinion. >> now, that woman who was opposed to the event runs the donkey rescue in a nearby town. >> well, authorities in massachusetts are handling a pretty ironic incident.
