scattered storms move through the area and more wet weather is headed our way. when kate says will be the best time to get outsides >> a nail throwing vandal, police are searching for a man they say continues to target unsuspecting drivers the trump administration issue as warning to the city of philadelphia. why it could mean the loss of millions of dollars. i'm jessica dean, i'm nicole brewer. the warning was sent to sanctuary cities across the nation and of course, that includes philadelphia david spunt is live at city hall with reaction from local leaders. david? >> reporter: good evening, there's been a lot of talk about sanctuary cities over the last year or so, especially during the presidential campaign, a sanctuary city like philadelphia is one that protects immigrants

that do not have legal status. there are other cities that gotly same letter, new orleans, chicago and new york >> anyone entered the united states illegally subject to deportation >> he did not hide his feelings about immigration and sanctuary cities like philadelphia >> it's our right as a sovereign nation to choose immigrants that we think are the likeliest to thrive and love us >> the department of justice sense this letter to jim kenney warning him to comply with federal law or lose funding. in the letter, acting assistant attorney general wrote failure to comply could result in the withholding of grant funds. he's talking about a little more

than $1.6 million in annual federal money that helps philadelphia's law enforcement efforts, add that up and it could mean millions during the tenure. the administration is threatening to pull the annual grant unless it sees proof that local philadelphia law enforcement shares information about undocumented immigrants with federal authorities. >> it is a serious letter. >> reporter: chip becker is an attorney with klein specter and specializes in court cases. the city has a good argument to keep its funding in the 10th amendment there's a principle called the anti-comondering principle that prohibits the federal government from punishing a state or local government to enforce federal law. >> reporter: i asked to speak to mayor kenney but his office sent a statement, we have been aware of the requirement since 2016 and we believe there's nothing in our current policy that

prohibits us from certifying. the city has until june 30th to respond to the federal government, jessica and nicole, this could go to federal court. we're nearing the 100 day mark of the trump administration. and the oval office today. the president met with an aid worker released after nearly three years in an egyptian prison. the president sought the release with egypt's president. president trump signed executive orders today calling for a review on 2016 tax regulations and the financial reform law. >> these regulations end shrine two big to fail and encourage risky behavior. >> the president promised a big announcement next week on tax reform. we are now just six days away from the nfl draft right here in philadelphia. the city is no stranger to planning and protecting large

scale events. as you can expect security will be tight. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is live where it's underway. >> reporter: i think they're still underway. well, this is a free event but there will be a check in location so you will want to keep that in my mind coming out to the parkway, which i'm told will operate like the entrance point to any other major sporting event >> for someone who's not a sports fan, seems a bit much >> i thought it was a concert. i was like, who's coming to town >> who? the future of the nfl >> huge sports fans great to see us here. >> reporter: everyone meaning tens of thousands of sports fans feeling the access areas from eakin's oval to the grand stage on the art museum's steps >> using the parkway, we're familiar with it. >> reporter: when chicago hosted last year, a perimeter includes trucks and barricades will surround much of the event.

in monday, that means the parkway will close from 20 and to the art museum, phase four takes effect tuesday. the tredyffrin school district suspended a school employee. arthur phillips of wayne an instructional aid is charged with sexual assaulting a student. the victim tells police she had sex with phillips more than ten indicati occasions. the two exchanged explicit text messages vineland is asking for the public's help identifying a nail throwing vandal, the man on the motorcycle is wanted for dumping roofing nails on the driveways of two local businesses earlier this week. the vandalism left unexpected

with 30 damaged tires. it isn't the first time he struck >> the first year we were pretty sure it was a disgruntled employee. we were hit again last year. and the same thing. >> it's been a real interruption for us. it could have caused real harm >> if you recognize that suspect, police do want to hear from you. a shooting in ogontz leaves one in the hospital. the gunfire erupted at 15th and comely street. the 27-year-old victim was hit multiple times and driven to the hospital. another man was shaken up but not hurt when a stray bullet went through the window of his home. narrowly missing him as he slept in bed. two men who police say tossed guns from a car near the scene were brought in for questioning. authorities say it man who killed a police officer and wounded three others in paris had a note on him defending

isis. they believe that attack was captured on this cell phone video. they say it appears to show the suspect's car next to a police van and two men with weapons drawn. one officer was killed, two were wounded in the shooting. a woman was also caught in the gunfire. investigators say 39-year-old sherfey served time for previous armed assaults on law enforcement a recent pennsylvania pipeline leak renewed concerns. sunoco logistics says there has been three leaks from it's mariner last year. the latest happened this year. the company maintains the leak did not put the public in danger but some local residents are still skeptical >> stories like what we just heard with, you know, yet another break in the system.

it's hard to trust. >> sunoco is in the process of building another pipeline that will run parallel to the run that had the recent leaks. the company said, mariner is being built to the highest standards lieutenant governor mike stack has been stripped of his state police protection. tom wolf give the order amid an investigation into complaints over the lieutenant treatment of troopers and other state employees. stack apologized for say things in quote, anger or frustration. but did not get into specifics about the probe. governor wolf sent this letter that reads in part i do not delight in this decision but i believe it is a necessary step to protect commonwealth employees. storms roll through our region tonight. and kate is tracking even more rain for the weekend. >> you we are tracking a lot of

through a couple of hours ago. now cleared out at least in in philadelphia but we're seeing clouds and fog right now. center city looking lit up. but little bit of a drizzly night. you can see on stormscan 3 a few cells out there. one moving through burlington county into ocean. that's the heaviest mainly just heavy downpours with the storms moving through. there has been lightening but it's the heavy rain that's been slowing things down. this moving through portions of southern burlington county through water ford. the weekend flip-flopped a little. we talked about this last night. looks as though tomorrow will be more unsettled because of this system creeping in a little bit faster. now looks as though scattered showers could impact saturday pretty much at any time. taking you into tomorrow morning, 9:00 a.m. a few scattered showers here and there. what you have to watch is this area, going to lift in by saturday evening. you can see pretty steady downpours here through the

evening hours all across the area. here's the good news. that does eventually start to clear out. sunday showers to the south. a lot of cloud cover especially from the city on south. as you head to the north may end up to be a nice day from the poke and the lehigh valley down towards the north and west suburbs before the clouds creep back in sunday. then heads off the coast. monday we'll be in an east wind a cloudy breezy cool pattern with few showers possible. it's a bit of a soggy stretch. scattered showers periods of light rain any time. sunday morning showers to the south, sun to the north, not bad. monday and tuesday that will bring a lot of cloud cover. chance for a few showers but also a cool and cloudy pattern into next week. your weekend both days in the low 60's. it's now looking as though sunday will be the drier of the two days. we dodging showers all day tomorrow. wind out of the north and west
