summer, we will break it down coming up at 6:00. painting with a purpose, where these students were coming together to create a meaningful mural, and the powerful, message behind it. here's is what happening, a surprise, for sisters in the delaware county. plans are in the works to move a group of nuns from their current convent. tonight we are learning what is behind the planned relocation and how the sisters found out bit. good evening, i'm ukee washington. i'm nicole brewer in for jessica dean. "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden has the exclusive store friday delaware county. >> reporter: representatives from cardinal o'hara, and religious sisters will talk to me on camera. one sister did express there is anxiety but says that living in a religious community, moving around is a part of life. religious sisters from four

different congregation that is called cardinal o'hara high school campus in springfield home for decade. the sisters, many older will bid farewell to the four convents where they have lived , according to documents obtained by cbs-3, conventing will be refurbished and transformed into housing for international high school students. many of the school community were unaware of the sisters pending departure. affect are sister servant of the immaculate heart of the marry, sister of mercy, sisters of st. francis. they say they would not comment. >> i think it is a little rough to tell these sisters to , vacate. >> reporter: in a lengthy statement in response to questions from cbs-3, archdiocese spokesmen wrote quoting, while all of them are used to some degree by different order of the women religious all are under utilized in terms of the capacity that could be occupied. while a transitional plan is going to be put in place, i need to be clear that the buildings are not being sold and that in one is moving out of an existing convent

residence in the immediate future. franciscan st. joseph and ihs sisters each confirmed that the discussions with the archdiocese about the situation. sources tell cbs-3 that some sisters may be located as early as end of the school year, but in all, archdiocese says it will be a two to three-year process. sources say upward of 20 sisters called this property home. it is unclear, after this school year, what role, any of them, may have in cardinal owe hard a outside the high school i'm joe holden for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". well, draft week is here, philadelphia is gearing up, for the spotlight as national football league descends on the city. in just three days fans will watch eagles and every other team call their picks to the stage at the art museum. and, we have team three coverage as we inch closer to draft day. sports director don bell ace long the parkway but lets start with "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos tracking the progress tonight, greg, good evening. good evening to you.

we are just about 72 hours away from the nfl draft as you mentioned, it begins this thursday, when it does there will be some major changes to traffic patterns here in this area for those living in this neighborhood but there will be some major changes to our sky line. if you live anywhere near art museum you may think the last two weeks have been, well, let's let this resident describe it. >> it is one big theme park. >> reporter: allen kneaderman has lived steps from the art museum and said is what being built here is not what i want to varieties. >> road closures, no access to sidewalks. dangerous to walk around here. try walking around here, it is difficult. >> reporter: he says when factoring set up and break down of events like draft and made in america, his neighborhood is unusable for about 12 weeks each and every year. >> this is not city friendly at all, not safety friendly, citizens friendly. >> reporter: nfl is trying to make fan friendly opening up parkway free of charge for nfl

museum and surrounding areas. let's break it down. at 7:00 tonight the parkway closes from the art museum, to 20th street, and kelly drive, closes at fairmount, and martin luther king drive and spring garden street close at 24th street. and, now admit night tonight, martin luther king drive close s at sweet briar and it will open for morning commute thursday and friday. and kelly drive will be closed from the art museum to fairmount, and the westbound ramp from the vine street expressway, to 22nd street will be closed. that is almost as busy and complicated as an nfl play book. just in case you didn't absorb all that get more of the road closures and restrictions anytime at cbs philly.com. our team coverage continues now with sports director don bell. he is along the parkway as well, don. >> reporter: i don't to have follow that play book regarding the traffic. that is very involved. but listen we are talking about the philadelphia eagles speaking of involved. they have the 14th selection

here in the first round n years past howie roseman has been aggressive in moving up. earlier today i spoke to daniel jeremiah, former scout with the baltimore ravens and eagles. he necessary howie very well. i asked him what the bird should do. >> howie, he will be always aggressive. if there is somebody there they want he will not sit there and wait for him to get there. he will ab aggressive and move up. in this draft you can maybe see him move up a little bit in round one and maybe later on try to slide back and recoup some of those picks. that is something howie does as good as anybody manipulate that board. >> reporter: manipulating the board is what he did last year being aggressive trading twice in the first round to jump up and grab car so wentz with the second overall selection. now coming up later in sports, if they stay in the first round which we think they will do, should they draft a corner back? they have a huge need there. we will talk bit then, until then i'm don bell, back to you in the studio.

station kyw news radio was in south philadelphia for the unveiling. >> reporter: philadelphia's known for its big murals and their ability to teach us so it only makes sense that some of the cities smaller residents are making a mural to learn about major issues they might face, child abuse and child abuse prevention. >> when someone take a brush stroke and puts it on to a picture, that they know, what it is all about, they make a stand, a statement and that is what this mural is all about. the art, bringing people together for a cause. >> reporter: earlier today second graders at steven girard elementary in south philadelphia put brush and paint to campus and created a mural highlighting child abuse prevention. >> it is about caring, sharing and helping other people, it is like, show the pictures of people doing things. >> it is just helping people and caring for people. >> reporter: organizers say not only are they helping to paint the mural but they have helped to come up with the theme and then learn about the

topics. >> kid have within so excited. they are just gauging ideas and this is what they came up w i'm super proud. >> reporter: past decade beth has worked on painting murals with people all around the state. >> we have done 26 other murals so we have had everything from themes like neighborhoods, coming together to help children, we have had support for parents and difficult situations. like in the recovery from addiction or with mental health issues, so we have talked about images around support and help for parents of families. >> reporter: at adults working with the kid say this varieties you'll learning process is important for instilling life lessons in these young mind and now it will remain in the haul off steven girard elementary to be a teaching tool for their students. justin udo for kyw news radio for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> very, very nice. still to come on "eyewitness news" mothers devastating loss turned into a priceless tip.

on the cbs-3 healthwatch, the gift of life, the month of april is national donate life month and today there was a special event to honor that at temple university hospital. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here with more on that. >> reporter: very important message going out. they raised flag at tell tomorrow raise awareness about the importance of organ donation, and while still not enough to cover all of the patients, waiting, there has been a increase, that is attributed in part, to the

drug overdose, epidemic. >> incredible child, incredible human being. such a giver. >> reporter: it was a shocking , devastating loss when eileen who her three three-year old son, charles, to a drug overdose in, 2011. >> the opioid addiction is out of control right now. there were so many people dying from overdoses. >> reporter: that grim reality has created a silver lining, number of organ donations have also increased. >> she was part of the ceremony at temple university hospital to honor national donate life no. number of transplants nationwide increased 20 percent from 2012, a big part coming from overdose victims who are usually young, often with good organs for donating. >> we have no idea how we were going to be able to recover from this terrible loss. >> reporter: knowing her son saved three lives donating his heart, liver, kidney helped

her and the family cope. >> we are a tremendously grateful, that we have the opportunity to be able to do that alongside our son. >> reporter: even with increase in donations there is still in the enough organ donors. >> 394 people, waiting for a life saving transplant, it is our mission to give a second chance of life. >> reporter: with gift of life encouraging more donors there has been a increase in living donations, james payne is alive thanks to a kidney donation from his brother, melvin. >> i didn't think twice about donating. >> reporter: now today's event all about increasing awareness the fact is that 22 people still die every day, waiting for a transplant, and just one organ donor can save eight people, and change the lives of more than 50 others, so it really is. >> wow. >> making a big difference. >> wow. >> and regardless of, age, medical condition, anybody just about can be a donor. >> easy decision to make. thanks, stephanie.

well, veterans from philadelphia are sharing messages of goodwill and handwritten letters that will be sent to military personnel serving in iraq. >> residents of the delaware valley veterans home got help from local volunteers today to write letters and card as part of the service project sponsored by travis manion foundation. today's event was part of the foundation's operation legacy project. the amies to give veterans, survivors and civilians involved in their community. well, there is a new weather watch inner town this one is a 10,000-pound chevy suburban. >> not a little thing. on "eyewitness news" at 5:00 we got a look inside with our team of weather watchers and they were completely blend away. >> yes, completely blend away. mobile weather watcher is an incredible machine but in the just about the bells, whistles , this vehicle is letting us take story telling to the next level. we hope you'll come to rely on its state of the art reporting techniques across the tri-state area and here's what our mess local friend had to

relays. we need chamber of commerce weather at end of the week. >> we have the day that will fit the bill for you. just wait until the even of the week we to get through tomorrow. tomorrow is quiessential rain, windy, cold day but it will get better. lets lot at storm producing the problems. you can see that on storm scan three. look at that plume of moisture yellow, red shading in north carolina streaming toward raleigh-durham area very slow go with the heavy rain down there today. light rain to the north. thinks a very large, slow moving system, and we will be feeling the impact of it. we have been feeling it all day, but we will continue to feel those impacts through tonight and tomorrow. you can see where wind are coming from. this big storm is really dictating, the wind flow pattern, it is a cool northeast wind, keeping things very chilly. ocean water temperature just 52. not much better then that down the shore, 57 here in philadelphia, 59 in allentown, that wind will continue through tonight and into tomorrow, and it could lead to a threat for minor coastal

flooding, beach erosion, things like that pretty significant coastal impact from this system. timing out rain, generally light, spotty through overnight hours. heaviest starts to come in tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. widespread pockets of rainfall that heaviest that plume in north carolina likely to cross our area tomorrow afternoon. heaviest down the shore but moving inland as well at 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. still raining heavily and just a slow clear on wednesday. we will start off with cloud, shower, possibly seeing late day sun peak back out as pattern begins to change. future rain amounts heaviest at the coast, greatest impact along the coast best chance to pick up a thunderstorm as well , over 2 inches in atlantic city, plus or minus an inch here in philadelphia then watch what happens. we will hit 60. tomorrow we are stuck in the 50's. back closer to normal wednesday and then off to the races, thursday into friday, and if you are heading out to the nfl draft you'll love thursday. eighty-one, plenty of sun. nice and warm but in the too

jeremiah, a draft expert, with the nfl network. >> i think corner has to be one of your first two picks. whether or not you want to do that in the first round thinks a loaded draft. i think in the second round you will have some real good options there i don't think you want to leave second round without a corner especially where eagles are positioned roster wise. i would be surprised if one of their first two picks is not a corner. >> he wouldn't be the only one surprised, fans are looking forward to that selection. now, lets talk about the eagles as we know them right now. people are on their team. they continue their off season work out today, we have had a chance to talk to malcolm jenkins the starting safety. in 2009 jenkins was select in the first round as a corner back out of ohio state, he was eventually coverted to play safety. we had a chance to ask him what that transition is like, to go from the college level to the pros as a corner back. >> in college you play four or
