thank to you those working in the sephora store the group sheltered and the employees there gave the students water and hugs and helped them feel safe. reporting live in northeast philadelphia, hof hof, cbs3 eyewitness news. >> alex, thank you. he's a free man. amtrak engineer brandon bass tan spent the day behind bars and is now free. this comes as we hear from one of the victims. >> live at central detectives with the latest developments tonight, david. >> reporter: jessica, he walked out the door an hour and a half ago. a judge released him on 1,000 bail. he has to show up on court june 7. if he doesn't he will be arrested and will have to pay the full amount. this is video of him leaving central detectives with his attorney about an hour and a half ago. he didn't look up or say anything to the cameras as this happened. tonight as you mentioned i spoke with amtrak victim who says this day could not come soop enough.

>> as amtrak engineer brand dan bastian walked into a philadelphia police station in handcuffs lenny knobs takes a deep breath. >> it hurts to see people owe go to jail but le ruined my life. >> he was on his way for business when 188 derailed may 12, 2015. authorities say bostian was traveling more than twice the posted 50 mile app hour speed limit he suffered facial, back, head and leg injuries. we visited him in the hospital soon after the crash. >> i had a career. now i have no career. hi perfect life and now everything just wept down the tubes. so now i'm starting over from scratch. >> two years later and knobs seize a physical therapist twice a week and also seize a psychologist. he says he saw someone die in the crash. and image he cannot erase. eight people were killed on the train and now knobs has a service dog undergoing training for post traumatic

stress disorder. >> there's days i spent in bed and don't get out of bed. >> bostian turned himself in thursday morning. seth williams decided against prosecuting him. a judge last week ordered him to do so. williams turned the case over to pennsylvania general josh shapiro. we spoke to shapiro after bostian was arrested. >> we are attempting to seek justice for the victims of the amtrak case. >> lenny knobs says it's worth the wait. >> i'm taking this as closur closure. i hope other people take is as well. lenny nobodies is suing amtrak again brand dan bos ty an has to return to court june 7 or will be rested and pay $81,000. he's free to go home to massachusetts until the court date. reporting live, david spunt, cbs3, eyewitness news.

>> thank you, david. >> the search is on for a man accused of fireing a shot gun into another driver's car. rich land township police are looking for brandon grasso involved in three confrontations including one in quakertown where he's accused of shooting a car's rear windshield. police don't know what led to the incident. they think he was driving a mercedes benz sedan. he should be considered armed and dangerous. >> president trump is defiant in his news conversation since firing fbi i director james comey this as he prepares to return on the first foreign trip tomorrow. president trump faced questions about the appointment of a special council to investigate possible ties between the trump campaign and russia. he offered a one-word answer to whether he urged comey to drop the investigation into michael flynn. >> no. no. >> wheel i respect the move but the entire thing has been a witch hunt and there's no collusion between myself and

campaign. >> president trump continues point view cap dates for a new fbi director. he's close to making a decision and confirmed joe leashman is unone of the top candidates. >> pennsylvania auditor general says a review of 10 million state grant for the dem caingtic national convention could be complete by end of july. governor tom wolf asked for review after revealed some of the $4 million of surplus from the dnc in philadelphia last summer was used to pay bonuses to staff members. the auditor again val trying to determine if any of the state grant money was used to pay for the bonuses. dnc host committee chairman ed rendell says the answer is no. >> we raised that all ourself. i raised most of it. chase o'maley one of the development directors he was responsible for raise tion that money. he came out of what we raised. >> governor wolf argues sure mraws money should have been returned to pennsylvania

taxpayers. >> pennsylvania father is facing child endangerment charges after police say they found his three young children home alone. one of them was locked inside a cage. police made the disturbing discovery yesterday in pottsville, schuylkill county, 100 miles norm west of philadelphia. 38-year-old cecil kutz is behind bars on $250,000 cash bail. police found his 22-month-old son in a make-shift wooden cage. a 1-year-old boy endplay pen and day-old newborn in a baby seat on the floor. the children are now in the care of social services. police say their mother was in the hospital from complications after childbirt childbirth. >> the man who built the fox news channel into a ratings power house died. roger ails died in florida today following complication from a fall at his home. he got a break at kyw producing mike douglass show he met richard nixon and he later hired him as media advice are or.

weather showing us your friday morning commute looking good for lunch hour grab the hot dog and sandwich. future weather in the afternoon hours and evening we will start to see some cells firing up. they will be very hit or miss and not widespread in nature. some of the cells that develop tomorrow evening could be a little on the stronger side and storm prediction center has some of the area in marginal rick of severe weather mainly center city philadelphia points south and east and shore forecast has been a hot one along the coast all week and big difference with east wind kek up this weekend. it's going to push temperatures back to 60s for highs a little chilly. especially on saturday. with breezy conditions along the coast and city and suburb us high temperatures closer to average dport upcoming weekend and pretty nice one. low humidity, 70s. sunshine. and we'll have to break up the umbrella as we head to monday with 80 and good shot at showers and t storms. >> thanks, lauren. >> don is up next with sport sports.
