this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. breaking news this morning. after a hot stretch of weather a teen goes swim withing friends and disappears in the delaware river. a toddler is shot while sitting on a porch with his father. we're live with the latest on the search for the gunman. >> and president trump arrives in saudi arabia this morning for his first international trip. >> today is saturday, may 20th, good morning, everyone, i'm jan carabeo. much cooler start to the day already on this saturday morning. so let's get right over to meteorologist, matt peterson with a look at the eyewitness forecast. good saturday morning, pat watch can we expect this weekend? >> big change from the last couple of days. we had our first true heatwave of the season. we had 90's, three days in a

row, but it will be a big change like i said coming, starting today, and really throughout our entire weekends. going to be looking at cooler temperatures, few rain showers out there this morning, that will be leading into what should and generally overcast afternoon, looks like at this point, as well, storm scan3, showing those early morning showers, north of allentown, through the poconos, bush kill falls area, also down along the shore line, as well, through cape may county, few showers there, maybe even isolated rumble of thunder with the area of precipitation moving through south jersey. then another round every showers, little bit on the more light to moderate side, getting into delaware, just south of dover. so this is what we're dealing with, not just this morning but throughout most of the day, spotty shower activity, with maybe every once in a while a stray rumble every thunder thrown into the mix. in general it is going to be kind of a big change, and not be the nicest start to our weaken. we will be watching for temperatures that sit in the

60s here this morning, maybe down to the high 50's in a couple of spots, before we rise mid to higher 60s later this afternoon, then we will see some 70s back into the forecast, it won't be coming until next week with our next round of showers. maybe thunderstorms as we head through sunday night, looks like into monday morning, as well. so we'll talk about, that also talking about what you can expect in your seven day forecast in just a little bit. >> sounds good, thank you, matt. we begin with breaking news this morning, diver will return to the delaware river later today to search for missing swimmer. police say four friends went for a swim late last night near pleasant hills park, when three got out, they in noticed their friends, 16 year old byway missing, they called 911. search teams were there throughout the night. of course we'll continue to keep you updated on air and on line with developments. >> two year old boy and his father were shot on their front porch. now police are looking for two gunmen, anita oh, live at

police headquarters to bring us up to date on this investigation. hi, anita. >> reporter: good morning, jan. pretty sad details, that two year old boy remains in critical condition at st. christopher's this morning, his father also shot at temple university hospital in stable condition. this is video from the scene last night, as this all unfolded just after 9:00 on the 3300 block of malta street in kensington. police say two people on bikes road down that street and fired multiple times. the 26 year old father was sitting outside on the porch with his two year olson, bullets struck the dad in his right knee, while the son took the brunt of the gunfire and was hit four times in the back. captain george of philadelphia police told "eyewitness news," that it appears the father tried to shield his son. meantime, police interviewed witnesses, that east detective, and started a search for the gunman. >> we have a massive manhunt going on, we got all kind of

officers, you know, plane clothes, marked, we have our aviation unit, up in the air, we have our k9, all kind of people trying to find these males. >> at this time there is no clear motive. there is also no weapon found. coming up at 6:30, we will gave you a description of those two suspects. anyone with information should call philadelphia police. live at police headquarters this morning, anita oh, cbs-3 "eyewitness news." >> all right, anita, keep us to up date. police in new castle county make arrest after hit-and-run injuries a one year old girl. lea purdue struck twice, about half hour later police fawn the car and arrested elijah meredith. >> fifteen minute before it happened, she was running up to me, wrapped her arms around my thigh. i'm glad they caught him. because if they didn't catch him, i would have caught him. >> now the girl suffered a fractured skull, she's now in

stable condition. pennsylvania state police are trying to determine what caused a fiery crash involving four tractor-trailers and a car in berks county. the chain reaction collision happened on eastbound i78 near ham berg last night, shutting down stretch of the highway from route 143 to 737. police say a tractor-trailer did not stop in time for traffic that had slowed down there, at least three of the vehicles caught fire, one person suffered burns, two other suffered minor injuries. well, wildwood may outlaw smoking on the boardwalk as early as next summer. right now you can't smoke on some parts of the boardwalk there. the proposal would expand the ban to all 38 blocks. as "eyewitness news" reporter greg argos discovered, there is one place where wildwood won't enforce the restriction restrictions. >> the city of wildwood is looking to ban smoking. butting/those who want to light up on the boardwalk. >> not only on the boardwalk, ramps leading to the board walk, steps leading to the

beach. >> says the bill would just pass first is now headed for city council vote f passed smoking would be outlawed starting in summer of 2018. >> let me ask why are you doing it? just seems to be the time to do it. smoking has become a little less accepted. >> i think it is a good idea. >> that would be perfect for me. >> awesome. >> why is it awesome? >> don't have to breath in other people's smoke. >> applies to anyone here on the wildwood boardwalk, but you can still smoke on the beach. >> why enforce a law or enact a law you can't enforce, and the fact our beach is so big, would you have to put an army of police officers or inspectors down here. >> taking a draw is already prohibited on certain sections of the wildwood boardwalk. but with the health concerns, and even some small trash fires from lit cigarettes? >> our department goes on routinely on boardwalk fires, where they're smoldering. >> the mayor says it is time to apply it across all 38

boardwalk blocks. and even some smokers agree. >> i wouldn't be happy about it, as an inconvenience to me, but for the board walk, maybe it would be a good thing. >> now if final approval is granted for this smoking ban the city says they'll use the public address system along this boardwalk to inform everyone smoking is not allowed. reporting here in wildwood, greg argos, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." new this morning, president trump is now making his first stop on his first international trip since his inauguration, the president landed in saudi arabia after overnight flight from washington. he's hoping to build stronger partnerships to combat terrorism in the region. in remarks prepared for tomorrow the president will call for unity in the fight against radicalism. and assess lemon report, the president trip comes a mid a cloud of domestic controversy. >> the new york times says president trump told russian foreign minister sergei, and russian ambassador to the

u.s., sergei, i just fired the head of the fbi. he was crazy, real nut job. the report quotes the official white house account of the meeting adding the president said i face great pressure because of russia, in a is taken off. the 25 minute long visit took place in the oval office on may 10. that is the meeting the us press was barred from witnessing, but a russian government news service was allowed in. white house press secretary, sean spicer, did not deny the comments, but said in a statement by grand standing and politicize g the investigation into russia's actions, james comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with russia. senator patrick leahy responded, this is what obstruction looks like. comey has agreed testify before the senate intelligence committee sometime after memorial day. earlier, deputy attorney general, rod rosen stein, briefed house members on the russia investigation. special prosecutor will have

>> welcome back, with the warmer weather new jersey grown strawberries are ready for picking and this year they're red a little bit early. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan went to glassboro to find out why it may be time to start enjoying those strawberries now. >> you got to go deep to get the good ones. >> crystal saw the pick your strawberry sign in glassboro, thought it would be the perfect activity to do with her son.

>> i try to stay away from the tv. good to get outdoors, him know how to grow stuff, where he's eating, where it came from. >> expert say a fair winter and pleasant spring helps strawberries come in a little early this year. and since strawberry advice short season in new jersey, as soon as they're ripe, farm strands like rowan's spring into action. >> today is only day two. and they usually run for three to four weeks roughly. >> buying a dart on is good, but if you got a little time, pick your own farm like roane's recommend visiting the fields. >> there are boxes on the end of the table, the entire whole field out there is all opened up. anywhere would you like to go. you pick what you like, then you bring them back up here. >> while new jersey isn't one of the country's largest strawberry producers, the sweet is considered some of the fruit. >> the more sunshine you get, the sweeter they get. >> good for strawberry short cake, jams, or just wash them and eat them.

front, draped down to the south, bringing showers, thunderstorms, some of which could be strong to severe actually through missouri, now into arkansas, oak home, a back toward dallas, as well. >> this system is eventually going to move eastward. as it does it, will bring chance for showers, maybe some thunderstorms. delaware valley, that's not going to be toward the ends of our weekends, just wante want to gave you a preview. few spotty showers out there this saturday morning, maybe isolated rumble every thunder along the coastline, cape may, coastline of cape may county, few more showers move in south of dover. more light to moderate rainfall up in the poconos, carbon monroe county, that's moving out as well. still tracking some more showers out toward central portion every pennsylvania, just north of harrisburg, that area of precipitation also moving toward the poconos. so it looks like north of the city today, at least in the morning time, going to be getting a little bit wet to start things out. as we move then through the rest of the morning, move toward the afternoon, as well, you can see, showers going to be hit and miss throughout

most of the day. we will be watching for plenty clough cloud cover throughout the afternoon as women, while some sunshine a possibility, don't be looking for anything like what we had the last couple of afternoon, where we had the really just potent, potent sunshine, where we've really seen the temperatures sky rocket. won't be the case today. through the afternoon hours, hit and miss spotty shower activity, not ton of sunshine. go through the nighttime tonight, the clouds try to thin out at least little bit. and i think that they will. still not going to be looking for clear evening, more sunshine in store for us on sunday. and we will also see temperatures tomorrow that may be are degree or two higher than today. won't be necessarily super warm. we end up little below average for not just today but tomorrow as well. and you can see then off well to the west, our next showers, thunderstorms, starting to develop, that will be coming into sunday into monday, that that system out to the west in the nation to mid section. forecasted highs for today, going to be well below average. should be right around 75, we will be in the 60s, across

much of the delaware valley, 61 for the high temperature today, in wilmington, we will be 59 only in lancaster, also, looking for temperatures today in the 50's down toward millville, wildwood this afternoon, if you're long the coastline, atlantic city coming in at 62, probably cup ill of degrees closer, probably what you will be seeing in wildwood, areas like avalon, stone harbor, back up toward sea isle city too. high temperature 68 greets, 67 for us on sunday, with a mix of sun and clouds, no real rain chances for sunday into overnight into monday, see high of 77. some thunderstorms will be likely for us, and then as we get into tuesday, no real rain. but we stay just about average. 75 degrees. with that sunshine starting to return to the forecast. and then more 70s for us wednesday, our next chance for shower after that, jan, comes toward the end of next week. >> thank you on the health watch now, embrace the fat as in foods with healthy fat. the new health trends is growing. could it mean more ice cream?

out there on the cbs-3 skydeck this morning with the eyewitness forecast, tomorrow seems to be your pick for the best weather day this weekend, am i right? >> yes, i think so. we have a chance for some rain showers today, it will be a little bit breezy at times this morning, where tomorrow, it looks like, our temperatures are still going to be cool. but, no rain in the forecast for our sunday. so i would suggest if you do have plans, it is not going to be a wash out after saturday, looks like sunday will be little better. cold front that came trues last night, still exiting the region, little breezy as i said this morning, across specially the southern parts of the viewing area, still 60-mile per hour winds generally out of the northeast in philly. looking little bit on the breezy side toward millville, atlantic city, down toward cape may. see ten to 15-mile per hour winds across south and southern jersey, trenton, coming in with 14-mile per hour winds, again, besides the breeze it is cooler this morning, been overall, right now, not frigid by any stretch outside. it is 67 right now here in

philly. sixty-two this morning, for just trenton, it is 50's as you head little further north. allentown coming in at 57 degrees, mount pocono, at 50, where we've had few rain showers this morning, dover at 67. and also, atlantic city at 67 degrees. expect the temperatures to maybe dip another degree or two before they do start to rise up through maybe the around 07 degrees mark later this afternoon. temperature change from yesterday, to today, ten to 15 t things out. and getting a look at our day planner, by 9:00 this morning, we will be sitting right around 65 degrees, going up to 66, by lunch time, with maybe few clouds, an isolated shower by 6:00 this afternoonment top things outright around 68 degrees, jan, then not just nice on sunday, but we also are talking about rain chances for the beginning of the work week, and break it all down in the forecast coming up. >> matt, thank you. >> philadelphia police are trying to track down two gunmen, and a motive, after the shooting of toddler and his father on their front porch. headquarters this morning, to tell us more about it. good morning, anita. >> good morning, jan, very sad details this morning, two year old boy in critical condition at st. christopher hospital. his father also shot, in stable condition at temple university hospital. now we want to show you video from that scene, last night, on the 3300 block of malta street in kensington. this all unfolded just after 9:00 last night, when police say two men on bicycles road down the street and started firing at the father and son on the porch. the 26 year old father was with his two year old son and apparently tried to shield him. but bullets struck the dad in the right knee while the son did end up taking the brunt of the gunfire and took four gunshot to the back. captain of philadelphia police told "eyewitness news" that police interviewed witnesses at east detective, and that there is an ongoing manhunt for the gunman.

>> they're driving these big mountain bmx bikes, they're pedal bikes, and i think one of them has a wide wheel in the front with color spokes. and they were last seen going west on west moore lands, and then south on potter. >> now at this time there is no word on a motive, and no weapons recovered. anyone with information should call philadelphia police. for now live at police headquarters, anita oh, cbs-3 "eyewitness news." all right, anita, thank you. man is due in a delaware county courtroom this morning, to face a murder charge. darby borough police say domestic dispute led to the deadly shooting every crystal thomas. found shot in her chest in her home 100 block, he had ward moses junior charged with her murder. >> opioid task force out with new recommendations including a controversial one about legal injection sites. the task force reports, the city should look into creating so-called safe injection

sites, users could inject heroin thereunder medical supervision, to protect against overdose. the city's health commission says the sites have been shown to save lives. >> to engage people where they are, prevent them from dying, and hopefully over the long-term get them into treatment. >> we've seen cost of inaction to epidemics in the past. we not let this happen again to so many more families. >> the recommendations also include broadening access to medication assisted treatment, increasing education, and prevention, expanding naloxone availability and reduce the stigna attached to truck abuse. >> authorities say man barrelled through times square told investigators he had been smoking marijuana layed when pcp. richard rojas made first court appearance on second agree and aggravated vehicular homicide charges yesterday. security cameras captured the car traveling at high rate of speed as he mode down pedestrians, rojas allegedly told prosecutors he wanted to,

quote, kill them all. officials are awaiting the results of the toxicology report, rojas is being head without bail. a security scare on flight from los angeles to honolulu. man is arrested after he tries to force his way into the cockpit. it is in a video of the passenger being taken off the plane in hawaii. he was standing next to the bathroom in the front of the plane with a laptop, when a flight attendant saw him trying to get into the cockpit. >> screaming, told him to get down. walked up to the front -- >> can somebody please help, can somebody please help? >> he's pushing, but then says you're not coming in here. by then, a bunch of guys grabbed him. i was asking what else this he could do, they found some duct tape. i think they went back there with pillows and blankets just to tape him to his chair and keep him subdued until they got here. >> two fighter jets escorted the plane into honolulu. an off-duty police officer

helped the crew subdue the man until the plane landed. >> former congressman, anthony weiner's wife, filed for divorce hours after he pleaded guilty to charge of transferring material to a wine. weiner cried in court before he appeared before new york judge friday morning, admitted exchanging teen communications with 15 year old girl and called his behavior morally wrong. sentencing is scheduled for september. weiner faces years behind bars, and he will have to register as a sex offender. >> the city of new orleans removed a statue of confederate general robert e lee. crane removed the statue from a 60-foot high pedestal. it is the last of four confederate monument removed by the city, some argue that the monument represent slavery and injustice instead of history and heritage. the city plans to put an art sculpture in the statue's place. >> well, the old reading railroad line has been closed for decades. >> but starting next week, major construction will begin,
