live from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news" this morning. we're following developing news this morning. a violent night in north philadelphia. eight people are shot. returned to area hospitals. we're liver with the latest from police. somebody please come forward and somebody please tell me who did this to my on. >> a mother pleads for help to find a gunman who shot her two year old son. and the eyes of the muslim worlds will be on president trump today, as he delivers a big speech on islam in saudi arabia. >> today is sunday, may 21, good morning, everyone, i'm jan carabeo, cloudy day yesterday. will the sun make appearance today? let's get right over to meteorologist, matt peterson with the eyewitness weather forecast, good morning, pat. so what's sunday looking flying. >> we will hopefully see

little sunshine afternoon, it will be at a premium. not going to be seeing a ton of sun on our sunday afternoon, but it will be out there. so far this morning thin clouds hanging out as well. sun just came up about 20 minutes ago. we're getting a few nice sunrises actually here early on on our sunday, but the big story will be the sunshine we see little early on followed by our thickening cloud cover as we go through the afternoon. storm scan3 showing you again, right now, not too much happening, much quiet err scene on storm scan3 here this morning, as compared to yesterday, we had the rain showers that pulled through, yesterday morning, but dry conditions, most of the upper level moisture, cloud cover, still well off to the west. but again, that will be track eastward, we will see some that far cloud cover later on this afternoon. temperatures out there right now, 40's, 50's, there is a chill in the air, for sure, especially compared to what we had the last couple of mornings, where we had the temperatures in the 60s, sitting at 48 in red being, 46 down toward the shore, atlantic sit, seeing 47 also

in trenton, kind of a weak northeasterly flow right now, and we will be seeing more after southwesterly wind later this afternoon. but, it is still not going to warm us whole lot. temperatures right now compared to 24 hours ago, ten to 15 degrees cooler, even 16 degrees cooler in wilmington, millville this morning. so again, if you are headed out early on, on this sunday, grab the light jacket, you will need it. 59 degrees or so by 9:00 this morning, mostly cloudy skies, not bad start to the day, up to the six off's by noontime, high temperature this afternoon, slightly warmer than yesterday, we go with a high of 69. >> matt, thank you very much. right now, eight people are in the hospital after a late night shooting in north philadelphia. two of the victims are seriously hurt. "eyewitness news" reporter joe hold send live at central detectives this morning. so joe, do police have any leads on this? >> reporter: hello, jan, as you can imagine, priority for detective out of the central division right now investigators are trying to piece together witness statements, and victims'

statements, it is believed this could be the work of possibly a loan shooter. this all played out at 23rd and hunt inning ton streets in north philadelphia. now the chaos from the scene reports indicate that there was a gathering or party outside when the shooter opened fire on that crowd. this was at 10:30 last night, at least eight people were shot, and taken to area hospitals. two are said to be listed in critical condition. >> at approximately 10:30 p.m., 22nd district officers responded to 911 call for report after shooting. they arrived on location, found several victims, and most of the victims were transported to area hospitals, of the victims, moles of the victims were placed in stable condition, two of the victims were placed in stable condition, two of the victims placed in critical condition. at this point we have no motive or suspects.

>> reporter: but this morning, my sources are telling me this absolutely looks like a targeted attack, many victims raging in age from late teens to mid 20's, and at this point, police telling us that more than two dozen rounds were fired there, at 23rd and huntingdon streets, in north philadelphia. >> i'm joe holden, "eyewitness news." >> keep us to up date, thank you. new this morning: one person in the hospital after early morning fire. fire broke out about 4:40 a.m. in the home in the 5400 block every dialed street. that's the overbrook section. no words on the cause of this fire. a deck clams in the rocks borough the deck came crashing down in the 8800 block of ridge avenue, right around 8:30 last night. investigators say, 16 people were on it at the time. l & i is now investigating the cause of the collapse. >> this morning, police are

still looking for the gunman who shot a two year old little boy and his dad as they were just sitting on their poor in kensington. now the boy's mother is asking neighbors to come forward with information. "eyewitness news" reporter alicia has her emotional plea. >> bullet holes riddled the outside of this home in malta street in kensington, where friday night a father and son were shot, his mother identifying him as her only child, price johnson. >> if anyone seen until at malta street yesterday at 9:00, please come forward. did he not deserve this. >> she was working her ups job, two men fired bullets at her son when he was in his father's arms. >> he says: i'm scared. daddy fall down. >> two year old was shot four times, twice in the leg and twice in the arm. he was immediately returned to the hospital in critical condition. >> everyone on the block loves him very much. he is a sweet kid.

he is in there fighting right now. >> despite a massive manhunt minutes after the shooting -- >> got all kind of officers, you know, plane clothes, marked, we have our aviation unit. >> philadelphia police say they've not made any arrests, authorities, have had few witnesses willing to come forward. today she is getting some comfort and help from this woman, who lost her brother to gun violence in kensington, he's going door-to-door pleading with people to speak up. >> whole mentality of the whole snitching thing has got to go. you know, any time a two year old gets hit, somebody's got to speak up. >> when we were over on malta street in kensington, after about an hour and a half, eventually were able to find a witness who didn't want to use his name or show his face. but he says, that two men came down the street on bikes, they had the time to stop, look at the father, and son, and yell this is our block, and then they started shooting. in the cbs-3 sat center, cbs-3

"eyewitness news." >> crews will resume their search this morning for missing 16 year old who disappeared while swimming near pleasant hill on friday. the teenager's family has identified him as 16 year old antoine fox. he and some friends jumped off a boat dock friday. friends say they became caught in the current there, and fox never made it back to shore. his family says he was not a good swimmer, marine police searched the river all day yesterday. >> firefighters continue to battle a wild fire in wharton state forest in burlington county. >> while the flames are now mostly contained, scorched 300 e sent us this of the fire burning off 206, staffers at the new jersey forest fire services spotted the fire right around 9:45 saturday morning, no houses are in danger, the cause of the fire is now under investigation.

>> new this morning, president trump meeting with arab leaders recalls arrived at the gulf cooperation count ill. the president's meetings include heads of state from bahrain, egypt, and kuwait. later the president will deliver a speech that's called the centerpiece every his two day visit to audi arab y will reportedly call for unity across the muslim world to fight terrorism, as nicky bat tees reports, the president announced several lucrative deals with saudi arabia to benefit the us. >> the president's visit to audi arabia, day began with pageantry, military fly-over, and lots of hands shakes. the president and the saudi king announce new deals between the two countries including 109 billion-dollar armed deals, investments in us, infrastructure project. >> hundreds of billions of dollars of investments into the united states and jobs, jobs, jobs. >> president trump and king solomon's team still have much

>> back now on "eyewitness news," with a helicopter crash in linden, new jersey, the crash happened just before 5:00 last night at the linden airport, the chopper was reportedly hovering few feet off the grounds whether it suddenly crashed and fell on it sides. the two men inside the helicopter were not injured. >> a plane collides with a utility truck while taxing at los angeles international airport. eight people were injured there. the aero mexico flight struck the vehicle, causing it to over turn. this all happened after the plane landed saturday afternoon. firefighters say all of the victims were on the truck, and their injuries are not considered to be life threatening. the cause of that crash is under investigation. we're learning new details this morning about the moments before a turkish national tried to break into the cockpit of an american airlines flight to hawaii. twenty-five year old was unruly before the flight began. he attempt topped sit in a first class seat that was not hit -- his. the flight attendant sent his bamm to his seat in coach, and

he began mumbling to himself, put blanket over his head and started making his way toward the cockpit. >> our first concern of course is for the safety of the passengers and the flight crew there. were no injuries aboard the flight. interviews have confirmed the cockpit was not breached prior to previous report. >> authorities say the suspect you see right there had been drinking before he boarded the flight at lax. >> a nightmare for passengers on new roller coaster at six flags over texas, they got stranded there, for hours. the joker coaster stopped in the middle of the ride as winds and rainstorm moved through around midnight. eight passengers were stranded for more than three hours before firefighters were able to rescue them. a six flags spoke person says severe head winds from the storm caused the roller coaster safety system to automatically shut down the road. the roller coast is her now up and running again after a safety inspection. clowns and performers with the ringling brothers and

barnum and bailey circumstance russ getting ready for their final performance tonight. after 146 years on the road, the circus holding its tent due to seat drop in ticket sales. the performers will move onto other jobs, and the 74 animals, new homes. tonight's final performance takes place in uniondale, new york. back here at home now, looking at the weather. hoping it is a better day, not too much sun out there yesterday. >> no, and it was a little cool, as well, after days in the 90s, nice to cool down, i think we'll have better day today. you know, a little sunshine, out there this morning already. couple of pictures of great sunrises across the area, this is from up in the poconos this morning, so again, pink, orange, a really just nice spring morning, if you ask me, up in the poconos, to start the day out. and we are going to be looking at again peaks of sunshine throughout, pretty much the entire day. so hopefully, lot of folks are able to get out and maybe snap picture every great morning just like the one that again we're just having to our neighbors to the north. few peaks every sunday shine

possible throughout the day. we will be watching little bit of cloud cover move in this afternoon, as well. now, temperatures, not going to warm up whole lot. we were well below average yesterday. looks like little below that normal range of about mid 70s, once again, through the afternoon hours today, and then watching the next system, next rainmaker, starts to move in later tonight, and then into the early portions our monday, bringing some rain showers, looks like even some thunderstorm activity cents, as we get into monday afternoon. waking up this morning, much cooler start to the day as compared to yesterday. we woke up yesterday morning, temperatures were still in the 60s, but we see some 40's out there to begin the day today. red willing, allentown, back up toward mount pocono, even toward trenton, 47 degrees there, 51 wilmington, and dover, a little cooler headed toward the shore points, atlantic city back down to wildwood, mid to high 40's there. so overall it is a pretty crisp start to the day. if you are getting out early this morning, take the light jacket with you. because you will need it. as we go through the rest of the morning, then toward around the lunchtime hour or

so, again, peaks every sunday shine will be out there, not going to be overly sunny day, but again, not overly cloudy day either. you see some showers developing, maybe few isolated rumbles every thunder off to the west, towards central pa. that will fade out, won't sewer any precipitation across the delaware or lehigh valley looks like throughout our sunday. by tonight 10:00 starting to seat next system come together moving through central pennsylvania, by the time we get to tomorrow morning, i really think we will start to see little bit more shower activity across the delaware valley, probably going to be a wet start to our commute monday morning, unfortunately, showers, thunderstorms persist throughout our monday afternoon, by the time we get into tuesday, we are going to start to dry things out. so what we are expecting rain wise, moving in tonight most liely after midnight or so, few thunderstorms will be likely tonight, but the better chance for the thunderstorms will be on monday afternoon, some of the rain could be heavy at times, but we're still looking at very low flooding threat. if you do get caught in a thunderstorm, our rain amounts will be a little higher, mayor

areas of poor drainage could have little bit of flooding issue, in general, not looking at any widespread problem. 69 degrees for the afternoon today. not ton of sunshine. again, below average, we will be getting down to 56 for the overnight low tonight, as the showers begin to move in, as our clouds thicken up, as well. seven day forecast, 76, with showers, thunderstorms, kicking off the work week, then stay pretty spring like through the week, at least temperature wise, 75 on tuesday, looking for few more shower chances, on wednesday, and then we're back up into the mid to high seven's, thursday, friday, and into saturday, jan. >> matt, thank you very much. it is the busiest time of year for moving, say the process can be overwhelming, am i right? if it is clean, if you have any questions they could answer for you. >> another reason to confirm the location? >> many things fall through onset lment, or the banks, or miscommunication. so make sure that that company you're going to use does have storage facilities. >> tip two, check their paperwork. >> if you are moving across state lines, they need a federal license from the federal motor carrier administration, if they're moving locally, then they would need a local license from the state or whatever jurisdiction you are talking about. >> tip number three, arrange for three in-home estimates, get everything in writing. >> you think it is better to have that visual on-site look at the items that are going to be moved. >> another option: visual surveys via smart phone. >> there are a lot of companies now that are starting to do an over the phone survey using a smart phone, where they can hold that up and actually see the items. >> the american moving and storage association has a certified pro mover program,

>> watching storms to start the work week, but today looks nicer than yesterday. meteorologist, matt peterson out there on the cbs-3 skydeck with the eyewitness weather forecast. good morning, matt. >> yes, good morning, jan, good morning, everyone, great morning, all it be a little on the cool side. starting out our sunday, but we have plenty of sunshine early on in the day. hopefully, you're able to get out, enjoy it, because there is a little bit of cloud cover that will be moving in later this afternoon.

>> we're 15 or so degrees cooler now than we were at this time yesterday. up into the lehigh valley as well even down toward the shore points, 50's and 40's for us 46 un in mount pocono, make sure that you are headed out this morning, whether doing any kind of activities, whether it is going to church, whether it is just doing little bit of exercise maybe outside, you need to layer up. it is going to be on the cool side early on in the day. high pressure settled in have drier air sitting over top of the region, so we have the dew point in the 40's, very refreshing, if you open up the windows, maybe last night, keeping them open here this morning, again very refreshing start to the day, get the fresh air going, fresh

air in the house, because it is very dry out here as well. dew point are 45 here in philly, 43 up toward trend ton with the high pressure in control not just as dry, not just little cooler but the winds much calmer. we woke up yesterday morning at times close to 20 piles per hour winds coming in from the south. now seeing more of northeast flow. that will could change getting into the afternoon hours, we watch as the next system start to approach from the west looking for stellar southeast wind at times later this afternoon, so calmer winds, seeing about five, 10 miles an hour in areas that aren't just calm. hour by hour forecast in the 50's, hopefully to up about 69 for high temperature today, jan, with again that mix every sunday and clouds. >> thank you very much. we'll check back in with you. we are following breaking news this morning, out of overbrook, three people are dead after a fire on diamond street, in philadelphia's overbrook section.

firefighters were called to the 5400 block every dial street right around 4:40 this morning, four people were inside, three died in the fire. we will continue to follow this developing story all morning long, for update, check in on cbs-3 and cbsphilly.com. our own joe hold send there at the scene, he'll bring us update in about 30 minutes. this morning police looking for the gunman who shot eight people in north philadelphia, happened at 23rd d 10:30 last night, reportedly at gathering or party outside when the shooter opened fire. two of the eight people who were shot there are in critical condition. police are trying to figure out the shooter's motive. >> this morning, police still looking for two men who shot two year old little boy friday night in kensington, the boy's mother says he's her only child. he was sitting with his dad on their malta street porch, that's when two men on bicycles road up, opened fire, the boy shot four times, and his father shot, as well.

>> if someone saw something on malta street yesterday, everyone on the blocks loves him very much,'s a sweet kid. he is that's there fighting right now. a witness tells us he saw the two men on bikes as they arrived, they looked at the father and son and said this is our block, before opening fire. >> in north philadelphia, now, a two year old boy fell out after third story window. this all happened on the 2100 block of dover street right around 11:30 saturday morning. the child is now in stable condition at hahnemann hospital. no word how the boy fell from the window. >> search continues for teenage here went missing after jumping into the delaware river. he and some friends were jumping off a boat dock there when suddenly he disappeared. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan reports the fun quickly turned to panic. >> just trying to have fun like usual teenagers do. >> and three friend jumping

off the both dock near pleasant hill park to cool off friday night, when fun turned to panic. >> we was jumping in at first, the current, we didn't feel anything. then the last time we jumped in before we was going to home, we jumped in. next thing you know we all started just moving. >> the victim identified by family as 16 year olan ton fox never made it to shore. apparently caught in the swift current of the delaware river. >> one my other friends tried to get him. then i tried to go and get him too but the current was so strong where we couldn't really help him because we started struggling ourselves. >> eyewitness steven smith says the scene was chaotic along the dark river. >> they were all panicking and trying going in and looking for him. i guess the current took him out. >> fox's family provided "eyewitness news" with this picture and told us antoine was not a good swimmer. marine police searched along the river bank all day saturday, as family and friends prayed and cried together. >> ceasar says that he and fox were classmate at abraham lincoln high school, and played football together.

>> ever like in the movies where they all jump together. we tried to do that last one together. and -- >> in addition to the search both, we see helicopter over the scene earlier on saturday, no word from philadelphia police what the plan is going forward. northeast philadelphia, cleve bryan, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> funeral plans set for chris colonel, will be laid to resume 26 in los angeles, the sounds garden front man's body will be flown from michigan to los angeles today. he will be burried at the hollywood cemetery. died wednesday night after perform withing sound garden at the fox theatre in detroit. the medical examiner's office ruled the death a suicide by hanging. he was 52 years old. >> we're now hearing from the father of the woman killed. eighteen year old alyssa dried when a bronx man drove his car on to the sidewalk hitting pedestrians nearly two dozen others were hurt, including alyssa's sister eve a the sisters were visiting from

michigan. eve is recovering after surgery, with family by her side. >> it is something beyond anything i could ever imagine, you know, my daughter came here for vacation, and now taking her home to bury her. i have no words. i really don't -- i mean, it is just empty hollow feeling. >> the driver 26 year old richard rojas faces murder and attempted murder charges, investigators say rojas told police he smoke marijuana laced with pcp. >> cbs640 minute, the topic of sanctuary cities here on cb3. here is scott pelle with a report that focuses on philadelphia. >> ♪ >> philadelphia's arch street methodist church was build by abraham lincoln's favorite minister. >> we are a sanctuary church.

the event raises money for autism research and to provide services for people with autism. walkers were able to raise just over $144,000 and our own natasha brown emcee this year. now to another walk for a good cause, rose tree park media hosted walk for the wounded yesterday morning, there was a walk and 5k race. organizers want to bring attention to the challenges wounded veterans and their families face, and to raise money for them. our own ukee washington hosed this event, many of the the veterans received vip treatment as they arrived in very nice cars for the ceremonies in pat wasn't the best day out there for the walks and runs, but wasn't the worse either. today looking even better right? >> definitely s we had rain showers yesterday morning, i think today will be the better of our two weekend days, see the sunshine, temperatures maybe slightly warmer than yesterday, that's some good news for us, still going to be below average, but few

thunderstorms will start us off, but the spring temperatures return. after the 60s yesterday, we are going to have another day of some 60s today. back up into the 70s for the week ahead. our sunshine does make cameo appearance, not just today but through the week but in general even after we get break, unsettled pattern takes over wednesday, thursday, into the later portions of our work week as well, we get ready to track another rounds of showers, maybe isolated thunderstorm for the end of the week. next rainmaker comes through tonight, throughout our monday, area of low pressure that will be well to the north, cold front draped down to the south. this is a system that caused all of the issues in the planes, we had tornado outbreaks earlier, through thursday, friday, and then into the beginning of the weekends. now, this is the same system again. now moved off to the north. it is really kind of lost some potent is he, will still give us showers, thunderstorm as we go through the day tomorrow. that rain will develop

tonight, probably after about midnight or so. start to see it move into the delaware valley. thunderstorms are going to be possibility, not so much tonight, but more through the afternoon hours, on our monda monday. rain amounts in general will hover right around inch. or so, widespread rain amount for this system, but, we could see locally higher amounts, as you maybe get stuck in heavier downpour, or one of the thunderstorms, could be looking for maybe amounts upward of about an inch and a half, maybe even at times inch. and three quarters, so keeping an eye on that again for the most part widespread amount every just about inch. of rain with the system that comes through tonight and lasts throughout our monday. our forecasted temperatures for today, not going to get quite to 71 i don't think in philadelphia, i think hovering just above that -- below that. plenty of 60s out there, to deal with there later this afternoon. now again, up through the lehigh valley, see kutztown, allentown, reading, our models giving you output of 71 degrees. think we ends up just a little shy of that. probably around 65 to 67 degrees for areas like

reading, kutztown, allentown, little cooler easton and up toward mount pocono, as well. as we move little closer to the delaware vale, see delaware county here, media coming in, maybe close to 07 degrees, downingtown, out toward chester county, again probably in the lie 60s to maybe, maybe, 07 degrees. pottstown, doylestown, out towards trenton, looking more along the lines of the high 60s, low 70s, and philly probably not quite to 71, our forecasted high about 69 for today. as you head down toward the shore point, maybe not the greatest shore day, because it will be a little bit chilly. in that mid 50 to around 06 degrees range, from atlantic city through avalon, back to stone harbor, sea isle, cape may, all in the mid 50's to about 60 range. down to the delaware beaches not too much changes, still high 50's to around maybe 60 degrees there, as well. for our monday, 76 degrees, for the high temperature tomorrow. thunderstorm is likely, looking for more 70s through tuesday, wednesday, and thursday, with again, few spotty shower chances thrown in the mix. >> matt, thank you very much. it is now 6:47.
