a night of entertainment turns into mass panic. people flee a packed arena after an explosion at an ariana grande concert. 19 people are confirmed dead. dozens more are injured. i'm ukee washington. >> and i'm jessica dean. this explosion happened at manchester arena in the city of manchester in northern england. eyewitnesss report hearing blasts coming from near the arena's bars at the end of the

ariana grande concert. >> eyewitness news reporter david spunt is following the developments from our satellite center tonight. >> reporter: the latest number from authorities at least 59 injured. police are on scene and will be for some time. a u.s. law enforcement source says the explosions were filled with nails. the chief constable for the local police department says he's investigating this as terrorism unless new information changing that conclusion. melee in manchester, united kingdom after an explosion rocked the ariana grande concert. thousands were inside and went running for cover. at a nearby train station concert goers continued to run away from the scene. authorities held a news conference within the last hour. >> this is clearly a very concerning time for everyone. we're doing all that we can working with local and national agencies to support those affected. >> reporter: dash cam video reportedly captured one of the blasts. witnesses say they heard fwo loud langs after grande had left

the stage. >> didn't know what went on. everybody was trampling us. it was awful. >> just really confused. just a big bang, smoke. everyone was screaming and crying. >> reporter: two u.s. officials in a preliminary report say a suicide bomber is a possible scenario. in a facebook post greater manchester police said emergency services are responding to reports of an explosion in the area. they're asking members of the public to stay away as they continue their investigation. an eyewitness spoke to sky news by telephone who says the explosions came from the lobby area. >> we've been full crowds of people and children devastated. we went for the car which was 10 seconds away. as soon as we got to the car you could smell the burning. >> reporter: the state department is telling americans in the area to listen to local officials on the ground there. we have not heard from the

president of the united states. he's overseas right now. or anyone at the white house on the record regarding this incident. but we have heard from ariana grande just a few moments ago. she tweeted i want to read it, broken from the bottom of my heart. i am so, so sorry. i don't have the words. reporting live tonight, david spunt, cbs3 eyewitness news. >> david, thank you. an officer is hurt and students are arrested after a flash mob breaks out. surveillance video captured the melee after school let out for the day. eyewitness news reporter alexandria hoff is live with the latest. >> reporter: this is not the first time that an after school brawl has taken place near a subway stop. so police say they already had extra patrols out there when this violence took place today. as students from three different high schools made their way from the "l" train platform to the streets, so did a heavy stream

of sudden violence. >> got off of the "l" and were fighting with some of the students. >> reporter: it broke out after school as fists were thrown, some students can be seen in surveillance footage overtaking a car and overwhelming officers. >> we had police out here but they overwhelmed us today. >> reporter: one officer was taken to the hospital according to police with a contusion to the ribcage suffered after being knocked to the ground. two july knives were arrestd in that incident. then around the corner police say another fight broke out. >> the officer had his stick taken from him so they had an arrest over there on that also. >> reporter: septa transit and philadelphia police were able to cool the situation. violence near subway stops has prompted increased patrols throughout tt city. but with officers oven outnumbered they're asking parents to talk to their kids. >> have them get their homework

done, go constructive things. >> reporter: police say it will be up to the district attorney's office to determine if any dishalg charges should be filed. >> shocking surveillance video tonight from chester county where a man with cerebral palsy was mocked and then attacked. it happened at a 7-11 in west chester may 10th. 29-year-old barry baker mocked his victim at least three times. the first time was before the victim went into the story. baker allegedly did it again when the victim came out and then punched him in the face. the stunned victim got in his car and called police. >> it's just shocking that in today's world you would have somebody attacking you simply because you suffer from cerebral palsy. >> baker surrendered today and was charged with assault. court records show he has an extensive criminal history. >> terrifying hours for a group of people after getting stuck

inside an elevator at the tropicana casino in atlantic city. 14 people were trapped early sunday morning when the elevator was stuck between the 6th and 7th floors. the elevator was in what's called a blind shaft. that means it doesn't stop on every floor. atlantic city firefighters had to pull each person to safety one by one using a harness and rope. the jury that will decide bill cosby's fate in his sexual assault trial is taking shape. this is video of cosby arriving in court this morning in pittsburgh where jury selection is taking place. the search for 12 jurors and 6 alternates is expected to take several days. a lot goes into picking a jury this a high profile case. we talked with a philadelphia man known as a jury which is whisperer. despite the massive attention before cosby's trial, he believes picking a jury will not be too difficult.

>> you'll be surprised that there are a lot of people that don't pay attention to those types of things. and maybe they'll be able to find a jury quickly. >> of the 100 potential jurors in the initial pool, 86 said they had heard or read about the case. 34 said they had already formed an opinion on guilt or innocence. 14 said that they had a preconceived notions and 67 said being sequestered would be a hardship. >> president trump will meet with palestinian leaders tomorrow after a visit to israel today. the second stop on the president's 9-day oversea trip. israeli prime minister greeted the president at his residence. they discussed the common threats and challenges facing both nations. they said ambitions and destabilizing actions have he helped bring some nations in the middle east closer together. >> there are many, many things that can happen now that would

never have been able to happen before. advancing prosperity, defeating the evils of terrorism. and facing the threat of an iranian regime that is threatening the region and causing so much violence. >> earlier in the day president trump and the first lady visited some of jerusalem's most sacred sites. the president placed his hand on the western wall and put a prayer note in a crevice. tonight a top house democrat says he's seen documents that prove former security advisor michael flynn lied to investigators about who funded his overseas trips. today he invoked his fifth amendment privilege. the senate could hold him in contempt of congress for invoking the fifth. >> memorial day is quickly approaching and with ongoing construction and dredging, town

officials say every shore town might not be ready. the 96th street bridge will be complete by this weekend. wildwood crest say weather and other issues dam penned the work. meanwhile store owners are being optimistic. >> looking at it in a positive light. because anyone who would be traveling from avalon to sea isle may have to pass by my business and then have to pass by it again when they turn around. >> also some beach goers in southern avalon and northern stone harbor could see dredging through next month. and we are gearing up for something big here at cbs3. it's called summer fest starting this week our news is hitting the road taking you to a different location every friday. week one we'll be in wildwood. we'll start off with a behind-the-scenes look at morey's pier during eyewitness

people have dubbed it alien yoga. >> breathe in, here we go. this new yoga move is known as alien yoga but it's a special breathing technique meant to help with digestion and tone your tumy. >> we're going to go through maybe 10 minutes of breathing. >> reporter: yoga is meant to relax, get rid of stress and clear your mind. but a new yoga move making its round on social media sites is freaking people out. >> the first time i saw it in real life i was like what? >> what in the world? >> that was crazy. >> it's being called alien yoga. >> her body looks like it could be an alien. >> you don't see the body move that way. >> and it's actually a practice that's centuries old. >> you could say it goes back to the caves of india. >> reporter: eric owns the roots

pregnant women. >> facebook ceo mark zuckerberg says he's not running for political office. he has been touring the country as part of his knew year's resolution to meet people from every state. he says he just wants to learn more about people's hopes and challenges and how facebook can help make a difference. >> do you ever look into your dog's eyes and wonder how smart are they or what are they thinking? well now there's a way to find out. researchers have created a series of online tests called dog mission. i decided to put them to the test with my dog fin. >> reporter: this is my dog fin. she's a 7 1/2-year-old lab mix my husband and i adopted when she was a puppy. we spend a lot of time together but i still wish i knew more about how she thinks. >> i don't know, fin. >> reporter: dogmission.com says

umbrellas, they got a big workout in south jersey. no rain is falling as we get a live look at center city philadelphia but we certainly do have some low clouds in place. we'll have some periods of mist throughout the overnight period and some fok lingering as well. trips stable over the next several hours. we're at 65 degrees. winds relatively light at 6 miles per hour. we definitely have that muggy factor and today we definitely had the rain talying up. vineland picking up over 3 inches of rainfall just today. atlantic city breaking a daily rainfall record. storm scan 3 showing us quiet conditions, clouds still in place and we do have moisture off to our south and west in association. there's quite a bit every

uncertainty with the timing of the rainfall and who has the best chance to see some of that rain. visibility is right now reduced because of that surface moisture. it's down bh a mile in millville. throughout the overnight period we will see sometimes of mist otherwise cloudy conditions and temperatures not falling off too much only back to 60 degrees and tomorrow we'll get a little bit closer to average at 72. mostly cloudy conditions, showers likely to redevelop especially south and east of the city. the cloud cover today, that rain falling and that easterly wind, our temperatures were really held back. 66 degrees in philly today, that's 10 degrees below our normal of 76. temperatures still close to the high temperature with clouds in place conversely prevents temperatures from dropping too quickly. we're at 64 degrees at millville and dew points they tell us about that sticky factor and when they're in the 60s it feels muggy. also we can't have our air temperature it won't fall below

the dew point temperature that's why we're going see mild conditions throughout the overnight period. with the rain developing tomorrow the model is having a tough time with the secondary area of low pressure. showers to develop, late daytiming looks most likely, maybe as early as early afternoon, late day best chances along the coast once again and best chance at center city is going to see shower activity as we head into the overnight period. so this particular model showing us that rain moving into the evening hours primarily along the coast and more wide spread toward i-95. clearing out quickly as we head into wednesday with some sunshine in store and there it is again. models more consistent for the rain on thursday which looks like another soaker of day. for tomorrow best chance of showers down the shore, poconos partly sunny 68 degrees. and we have a preview of that memorial day weekend. we've got to get through rain and storm activity on thursday. otherwise showers breaking out on thursday. looks like might have to watch
