>> so many young innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers. >> within the hour president trump reacted with anger to the deadly concert explosion in manchester, england, as the death toll rises overnight. today is tuesday, may 23rd, good morning, everyone, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon, afternoon in the uk, where manchester police say a man set over improvised explosive and died in the attack. the explosion killed 55 people, happened in the manchester arena after ariana grande concert. british investigators are treating this as a terrorist

literally -- >> authorities in the uk say the attack was carried out by a male suicide bomber, near the arena's ticket area. law enforcement officials tell cbs news he travel to the nearby victoria station by train. they say his remains, as well as ball bearings from explosive device, have been recovered from the scene. >> we believe at this stage the attack last night was conducted by one man. to establish that he was acting alone. >> the crowd made up mostly every teens and their parents who had come from as far away as scotland to see ariana grande dangerous woman tour. the singer, who was not injured in the blast, tweeted her condolances to the victims, writing in part, that she was broken. hours later, uk home secretary, amber rud, offered similar sentiment. >> this was a barbarick attack, deliberately targeting some of the most vulnerable in

with the fog. but here is the moisture lifting in from the south. that's headed our way. so with time, eventually, later on today, and specially toward night fall, the best chance for showers moves in for the southeastern half of our area. so philly will be right on the border, there is possibility we don't see one drop of rain here in the city here today. however, the further east you go, much higher likelihood, kind of your gauge, the further, the closer you are to the coast, more like at this it is you'll have wet weather to dodge, especially toward night fall. zero six to 61 degrees from atlantic city down to wildwood off to wildwood there, in through the outlying suburbs generally mid 50's at this hour. now, as the day progresses, again, primarily southeast of the sit that i will end up with some showers firing up out there. at the shore, the showers are going to redevelop for sure for you here today, mainly second half of the day, up in the mountains partly sunny day all-in-all. looking for sunshine to peak through the clouds, head to the north and west. again that's the section of our region right now that's got to deal with some fog. so all over the place regionally speaking here, meisha, today. >> we sure are. all right, katie, thank you.

most of the camera shots, more condensed toward philly so far. we're looking actually okay. i will say, though, that we are starting to look little busier, we just crack in the 5:00 hour than what we typically works because we had such busy morning yesterday. a lot of people will be heeding the warning even today saying i don't want to be stuck in that like i was yesterday. see what happens. right now what you are looking at, 95 at cottman, push in the southbound direction, toward center city. some of your neighbors out there, holding steady there. ben franklin bridge kind of the same story here although little bit busier, than what we typically see just moving into the 5:00 hour. still, nice open roadways, clearly everyone still traveling at posted speeds. we do have some construction crews out there, as well, where we've got some still lingering out there, schuylkill westbound at university ave. that right lane is compromising, see the cones, flashing light, and as we progress little deeper into the 5:00 hour, if they don't get moved out of the way this will become very busy spot. you will have to give yourselves extra time there. the two accident that we have out there, one in souderton

just cleared. looking good in this neck of the woods. conshohocken, this is where we still have it, this is your neighborhood, key street at butler pike. still the accident out there. not slowing you down yet. it could. potentially little bit later. but they usually get cleaned out of our way fairly quickly. construction here burlington bristol bridge. alternating lanes until right about now. so those should be clearing right about now. let you know as soon as i hear word crews have moved out of the way, still talking about the big project on 95, have been talking about it for quite some time. girard avenue, new off ramp opening 5:00 a.m. tomorrow. the old one closes 10:00 p.m. more on that coming up in a little bit. jim, back to you. >> man reportedly snatched off the street every east falls and now philadelphia police are searching for at least two suspect. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at philadelphia police headquarters with more on this reported abduction, trang, good morning. what can you tell us? >> reporter: good morning, rahel, jim. at this point investigators aren't sure if the suspects and the victim know each other or if that this was some kind

of road rage incident. but police are going off the witness account of a woman who says she was driving by when she saw two men fighting on the side of the road. police say that she is a credible witness. but take a look at some of the video from over night in east falls. >> this happened sometime around 7:15, near the intersection of robert avenue and fox street. now the witness told police that she saw one man come out after brown mini-van. he then began beating up another man who had just come out after black car. the woman says a third person then opened up the van sliding door, and that's when the man who was winning the fight pushed the victim inside the van and began to continue to beat him up. now, that third person then jumped into the victim's car, and drove off. >> that's when the person who was winning the fight got into the driver side of the mini-van with the victim still laying in the back, closed the side door, and drove off, following the black vehicle.

>> reporter: the witness described the man who was driving that van as very tall, about six-four, husky build, he was wearing a white shirt, and black pant, meanwhile, investigators are looking at surveillance video from nearby cameras in the hopes that it captured some of that fight. but for now, we're live outside police headquarters, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news," rahel, jim, back to you. >> trang, thank you. white house says president trump is being provided update on the manchester concert explosion by his national security team, this is new video, meeting today in bethlehem with palestinian authority abas. later the president will speak at holocaust memorial in jerusalem. >> top house democrat is accusing former national security advisor general michael flynn every making false statements to investigators about who found dollars his overseas trip. yesterday flynn invoked his fifth amendment right and refusing seen from lawmakers investigating russian election meddling. flynn's attorneys justified his decision not to turn over document by siting quote

escalating public frenzy against him. senate could hold him in contempt of congress foreign soaking the fifth. >> five jurors have been select for the sexual assault trial of bill cosby. jury had come from western pennsylvanian then be sequestered here in montgomery county for the trial which is set to start june 5th. the 79 year old cosby accused of drugging and assaulting temple university employee at his home in montgomery count any 2004. cosby had said the encounter was concentual. >> closing arguments are expected today in the murder trial of david creato, jr. the jury could begin deliberations as soon as this afternoon. twenty-three year old accused of murdering his three year old son brandon. defense attorneys say there is no evidence linking creato to brendan's death. prosecutors, how much, say he did it to pre serve his relationship with his then girlfriends. >> in other news, at least one delaware teen face sentencing for her role in the 2016 death after classmate. judge charged the 17 year old girl with criminally neglect homicide. cell phone video showed her beating classmate, amy joyner

♪ >> back on "eyewitness news," huge flames engulfing a home in chelsey, massachusetts, inside was a man who barricaded himself during stand-off with police that suspect exchanged gunfire with officers last night, kept police at bay for hours. overnight we learned the suspect was killed, it is not however clear if he took his own life or if he was shot by police. we are told the stand-off

began with a domestic dispute. >> a man's car crushed under gags station awning in jacksonville florida moments after he got out. >> take a look, the car owner apparently just gone inside to pay for his gas when the awning came crashing down on the top of his car. severe storms rolling through the area, reportedly being blamed for the damage. car owner's mother said her grand daughter usually in the back seat that far car. >> thank god, just today, took the other car, and she wasn't in this car. so, that was a blessing. >> eyewitnesses say they actually saw lightening hit the gas station several times during the storm before that awning fell. that area had been under a severe thunderstorm warning at the time. >> and it seems like if i remember correctly, katie, that was just yesterday that we had a potential of thunderstorms, got quite a bit of rain at least? >> some spots ended up over 2 inches every rain, mainly southeast of philadelphia, we ended one just over half inch here, but there is more rain on the way from separate system, separate batch of

moisture lifting in across the delaware valley as we speak. we start things offer, by going on out to the maps here, looking at specifically across mid-atlantic, where do you have showers lifting right now in across the virginia border, that's all the moisture that's headed our way. the actual final edge of this is still a little bit up in the air. i do think that the closer you get to the shore, the more likely it is that you will ends up with wet weather again today. primarily second half of the day. specially, toward night fall. so we should get most of the day in, little break between systems, but it is appearing to me like you will end up with more showers through the delmarva peninsula, through south-central new jersey there is sort rotates through just southeast of i-95. some indication from some of our guidance, it will try to lift north, talking matter of miles difference, as to where we ends one rain, where we don't. so, philly, still keeping you in the possibility of showers. but the further north and west you go, poconos, you're fine, the lehigh valley, probably going to stay dry, as well. but, when we look at the wide

zoom, this is an active storm scan radar picture right now. a lot of very heavy rain still falling across the deep south. another line of showers working it way through illinois. part of missouri, all of these systems moving through with the next couple of days, so there will be breaks along the way, let me gave you a sense of the best time to actually get out and enjoy the weather, because you will only have a couple of opportunities in the next couple of days. so, for now, really right up until early afternoon, i would say, you're goal end, unless that precipitation starts to move in little sooner, should make it toward evening before any raindrops begin to fall here locally. but you do have some issues when it comes to visibility at the moment. down to half mile in reading, below mile in dover. it is better than it was since last check. across the region as a whole, but just be, you know, wary that you may end up finding or running into some patchy fog, especially near the river beds, in those valley areas. that's where you will typically ends up finding. that will meanwhile, 60 degrees at the shore, and north-northwest wind at

49 degrees, up at the pocono region at this hour. but as the days progress, couple every systems moving in. first half of the day dry. tomorrow looking good. inbetween watch for showers specially southeast, more storms on thursday. friday not bad. saturday not bad. but i think showers could return as early as sunday, meisha. >> yes, i feel like katie we've been talking about a lot of rain in the month of may. so over it. but at least friday it looks like it will be gorgeous, got to get through today. good thing, while you are waking up, roadways katie pointed out are nice and dry. so right now, so far, so good. what we are dealing with is just some heavier congestion levels little earlier, because of how busy it was yesterday. just heads up on that. when we look outside, 422 at 29, taillights moving in the eastbound direction, headlight obviously then moving in the westbound direction. you can see how many vehicles are starting to flood on the roadways. still traveling around at posted speeds basically everywhere. we can hopefully expect that to carry us through into the 6:00 hour. see what happens. but we are starting to heat up just ever so slightly on 422. vine looking good. you push in the westbound
