south jersey community. the dangerous leak prompted evacuations and shutdown several local roads and part of a highway. "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden has the story now from logan township gloucester county. >> a cloud of flammable gas rice frost a rail tanker, as result hundredses in logan township had to be evacuated. the power was cut to the area, and people waited. >> trying to see whatever, whatever time they're going to open up, and all be still going to work. >> basically you don't want to go home and then have to come back again. >> emergency officials say the 30,000-gallon tanker was full of pro poe lean. told local company in the industrial park received it by rail and transfers and ships it out by truck. >> it was leaking from the valve. whether that val malfunctioned or not, the hazmat team is assessing it now. >> hundreds of workers were dismissed earl fry their jobs, no nearby homes were affected. children at a day care in the industrial park were safely busted, to nearby hotel.

the cool temperatures and morning showers were described to be best kate scenarios as the gas release played out. >> we could contract, if the leak becomes less, but it could go on for quite a while. >> joe holden, cbs-3, "eyewitness news." >> the evacuation orders has now mostly been lifted. emergency crews were sweeping buildings to check on any residual gases in that area. and they were pretty confident they would be able to give the all clear soon. now, as for the train, a secondary valve was installed to secure the tanker. it is not known how much gas leaked. today jurors were unable to render a verdict in the david creato murder trial in camden county. that means deliberations will continue to tuesday, after the memorial day weekends. creato is accused of killing his three year old son brendan in haddon township back in 2015. since deliberations gannon tuesday, the jury has re shown video. pot caution creato killed his

son because it hindered his relationship with his teenage girlfriends. the defense argued prosecutors failed to prove creato was guilty. there are new developments in the manchester terror attack. investigators in libya say the suspected bomber called his mother hours before the attack to say good-bye. meantime, british authorities continue to look for other possible accomplices. so far, eight suspect are in custody. manchester police say the arrests are significant to their investigation and more raids are imminent. >> federal appeals court blocked trump's travel ban. the ruling upholds a lower court's decision to halt core portions of the executive order indefinately. it includes the provision that temporarily suspends knave's' for people traveling to the u.s., from iran, libya, somalia, suddan, syria and yemen. the ruling likely to be appealed to the supreme court. stay tuned for the very latest on this and president

trump's appearance at the nato summit in belgium. scott pelle live in brussels that's tonight on the cbs evening news at 6:30. >> and another dreary day across the region it, seems we just can't catch a break, weather wise this week, but hopefully changes on the way for the holiday weekends. meteorologist, lauren casey in the cbs-3 weather center tracking the current conditions. lauren? >> current conditions have not looking so great. we had the heavy rain this morning, now dealing with strong thunderstorms developing across the area, rapidly developing, and rapidly strengthening, as well, do have thunderstorm pokes dollars right over center city philadelphia. heavy rain, frequent lightning, embedded within this. you can see that pocket of red right over center city philadelphia. stretching up into north philly, abington, as well. this parameter called vertically integrated liquid, what that means, there is potential for the cells to be producing some hail. so heads up for. that will center city philadelphia, down into westville, also west depford, might see pea size hail. also thunderstorm activity working through salem county

exiting out of delaware over the bank, continuing to work it way northbound, these cells moving fairly slowly, only about 25 miles per hour, up to the north, and there is much more activity up wind, and it is strong, and we do have couple of severe thunderstorm warnings in effect just outside the confines of the delaware vale. but notice this trends, the cells to move off to the north and east, so heads up, portions of delaware, as we head into the next hour. you're going to be dealing with some of these thunderstorms rolling through your neck of the woods. we do have severe cell just to the southwest of southern delaware, so heads up, that's headed your way to produce strong gusty winds in excess of 06 miles per hour, potential of hail as obviously, oh, just hearing from my producer, hail at the station, so, yes, indeed, the cell is producing hail in center city philadelphia. these storms will rapidly form, they'll quickly strengthen, so you need to keep your guard up over the next several hours. they will be strong potentially isolated severe, but we start to wrap up this threat as we head into midnight. then just see few lingering

showers, but it is going to be a tough go over the next several hours, we will talk more about this storm threat, track the latest cells and details on that weekend forecast, it will be much quieter coming up in just a few. >> okay, see you then, thank you. as we head into summer you may soon notice sunscreen dispensers around philadelphia. >> part of new campaign targeting skin cancer prevention, called strikeout melanoma. the campaign is a joint effort by the richard dave kahn, independent blue cross and phillies. it came from philly's hall of famer mike schmidt. >> four years ago, i was diagnosed with stage three melanoma. it has been a long four years, but a good four years. i'm happy to say right now that my body cancer free. but i surely wouldn't want to wish this on anybody. >> may is melanoma awareness month. >> and today is world heritage day here in philadelphia. >> and student took part in the celebration in southwest

dangerous medical problems. >> health reporter stephanie stahl is here with more with how it is impacting one montgomery county family. >> this is an interesting story, they're lucky to live so close to children's hospital where there is a specialty center. doctors say it is an unusual condition that showcases the links between genes and behavior. six year old rose murphy jones is happy to chat with strangers. so tell me about school a little bit. what do you do at school. >> i play with my friends. >> real, do you have a best friends? >> yes. >> what's her name? >> but her outgoing loving personality is the hallmark of a genetic condition called william syndrome. >> the initial diagnosis is completely devastating. because there are very serious cardiovascular issues. >> rose's parents also learned the children with the syndrome have variety of other medical and cognitive problems. >> it is often undiagnosed, a lot of the features -- sometimes people don't put all of the pieces of the jig saw

together. >> doctor page kaplan established the william specialty clinic at children's hospital. >> i saw how many different we needed to take care of threes children. >> children with the syndrome also have similar facial features, like rose, an up turned nose, puffy eyes, small children, and the charming personality trait. >> i like play. >> children who have william syndrome tend to be incredibly loving, incredibly friendly, and just wonderful to be around. >> within seconds of meeting rose holds my hand, but the unfortunate reality is being this outgoing could be dangerous for children, and people with william syndrome. >> rose has so much empathy on positivity and hope that it is really been a life changing experience for me. but it is a double edge sword in a loft ways. they're very prone to sexual abuse, to all different kind of being taken advantage of. >> rose's parents have lot of talk with her about stranger dangers, and she sees ten

specialists. for now, she is a happy proud big sister, but her future is unclear. >> william syndrome is very rare. and aside from the clinical symptoms, it can be confirmed with genetic testing. rose's family is now working to race awareness and money for research. i want to tell that you was one precious little girl. >> i could tell. >> she called me her new bff, best friend forever. it is interesting, double edge sword, thank friendly you're very vulnerable. >> very trusting. >> thanks so much. >> and it is a night to shine for student at archbishop school in gloucester county. >> the school for special needs children is having its prom tonight. a few of the student got all dolled up during a spa day on campus, "eyewitness news" in westville, in seoul, dedicated their services to ensure that everyone going to the prom looks their absolute best. ladies received stylish hairdo's, got their nails

painted, everybody just had a great time. it will be a lot of fun. >> really, you know, wanted to do something special for them. it is a big day for them. and, you know it, warms our heart to do it. >> yes, all the fun, starts in just a few minutes, the prom is at 6:30 at the washington inin in turnersville. >> oh, it sounds like it is pouring out there. >> it was pouring out there. we had some hail falling. >> wow. >> what size? >> golf ball? >> pea size. >> hail is hail. >> in my analysis it was pea size hail, falling on the skydeck, we got video just couple of minutes ago, as i was on tv talking about hail, it was hailing in center city philadelphia, you can see it coming down on spring garden street right outside the station, rain powering down, rainfall intensity letting up in center city philadelphia but we do have the raindrops on the camera lens. and you can see, decidedly so because of the downpour that we saw, and that hail moving on through. we still have the potential to

see hail in some of these cells working across the delaware valley, right now. they will be rapidly strengthening, have to keep an eye to the sky over the next several hours, things quieting down after the thunderstorm cell working through the city, raindrops, light rain coming down, 63 degrees your current temperature, dew point elevated in the low 60s, so we have the muggy factor, storm scan3 showing us the cells breaking out over the last couple of hours. slowly working their way off to the north, at about 25 miles per hour. so, not at a rapid pace. and we do have heavy downpours, that moved through center city, now moving up into montgo, still heavy rain coming down across portions of germantown, back into east falls, as well, again there is will move up to the north, heads up in abington, that was a hail producer, still have the potential for hail, look at the top of the show, vertically integrated liquid, the cells can produce hail. right now new thunderstorm cell over parts of south jersey, burlington, camden

counties, so the rain coming down in evesham, voorhees, into mt. laurel. heads up, you will be contend willing that cell moving your way. many more cells off to the south and west. you can see they're strong, and potentially severe. we do have the severe thunderstorm warning just south of southern delaware, it is moving off to the north and east. so see forward, also the delaware beaches, you could be contend withing that very strong cell as we head into about the next 30 minute to 45 minutes, this evening. thunderstorms, some strong potentially isolated severe. temperatures going to be on the mild side with the exception of some rain cooled there. overnight, storms coming to an end mainly by midnight. could see few lingering showers, temperatures falling back to 59. future weather showing us we head into the 7:0 8:00 hour still dealing with these storms rolling on through. and they will be on the stronger side capable of producing heavy downpours, frequent lightning, possibility of hail, strong winds to up 50 miles per hour. head into midnight still deal with few showers, couple of

rumbles every thunder. stronger weather threat comes to an end. head into tomorrow morning, all of that moving out of here. and we will actually see some breaks of sunshine for our friday, calling it mix of sun and clouds, should be very stray sprinkle moving on through. but otherwise quiet conditions, to cast off soggy week, check it out. that is sunshine for our saturday. noontime on saturday, kick off that holiday weekends, but we already had dose of rain. this is from this morning, three quarters after town close to an inch, of course we will add to the tally with the newly developing thunderstorms rolling across the area. they are being generated by warmfront, where you see the wind coming together from out of the north and out of the south. that's the position of our warmfront. so, temperatures are jumping up where we have the frontal boundary moving it way northward, 72 degrees in millville. but conversely ahead of the boundary only at 62 degrees in allentown, but we will be on the back side of the front as we head into the day tomorrow. warmer temperatures, closer to

average, 77 degrees, with mix of sun and clouds, breezy conditions, and down the shore, weekend forecast not shaping to up bad for our holiday, mostly sunny saturday, 74 degrees, looking good sunday increasing clouds, maybe late day shower or under this earl storm. and better chance for showers and storms as we head into monday. should get some sunshine at least for a period on monday morning, for our holiday. we warm things up to 83 degrees, for memorial day, and it looks like we have a generally quieter and more importantly drier trends as we head into the end of may, and the start of june 1st on next thursday. >> all right, we're ready for it, thank you, lawyer glenn don up next with sports. >> rainy day, potential sunshine for the phils t would be nice. it would be nice. the phils go all out against the rockies to see if they can avoid the sweep in extra innings. and on a mission. but it is not what you think. sports coming up next.
