shore this memorial day weekends, pat gallen taking us behind the scenes at maury peer. today is friday, may 26, good morning, i'm jim donovan. >> i'm rahel solomon. matt is here in for katie, meisha tracking the roads. >> good morning, i actually fell out of my seat. i did, i fell off, don't know if you heard t looking outside, we do have damp roadways, matt will talk little bit more coming up. my gosh, it has been so busy and with serious accident, too, we will be talking about that coming up. >> like you said out there, a mess, hopefully weather doesn't affect the clean up of those accidents, doesn't compound some of the problems that we do have out there. of course it is a little rainy this morning, and few select areas, it is not widespread showers, like we had yesterday, but, do be careful, as you are driving around this morning. just getting up, getting your day going, i know lot of folks will maybe be calling out sick today, going little bit of hooky, maybe trying to get out little early on the roadways, not just for vacation, but maybe just take extra day on your long weekends. but again, if you are out here

this morning, skies are starting to clear little bit. but you see, up through bucks county, back toward trenton, even little toward toms river, still get that light spotty shower activity. now there is little bit more rain down to our south. baltimore, dc, that will stay well to the south. maybe affect some of the delaware shore point, as we go through about mid-morning or so, but overall not going to be a wash out of a morning, or a day in general. temperatures out there right now, in the high 50's, to about 60 degrees. fifty-eight in wilmington, 59 reading, and going back up toward allentown, eyewitness weather day planner for us here, 62 by 9:00 this morning, we will be getting up into the 70s pretty quickly by lunchtime, war warming nicely, cloud cover does start to filter in, spotty shower moves on in, as well, we go with high temperature this afternoon of 77 degrees, meisha, i know you got to be liking the 77. >> yes, yes, matt, yes, i am. by the way, we need to make a bet with mother nature. she knows, you know, you annually work on this little later, come up something good for her, she needs to change her ways.

good morning, looking at 59 at the betsy ross. ninety-five headed toward the city moving in the southbound direction, starting to heat up little bit. you have a lot of friends out there, a lot of headlights, a lot of tail light both moving in the northbound and southbound direction, kind of heating up at the same rate. we know moving in the sound bound direction, start to heat up. we will keep an ion. that friday's tend to be lighter but with all of the things happening on the roadways this weekend specially this morning, see what happens. serious accident here. route 55 southbound, right now, closed. before route 47. so your alternate will be route 47. this was involving a pedestrian, with very serious injuries. i would just say if you can avoid the area you certainly want to do so. also, we have an overturned vehicle here, northeast extension northbound closed at quakertown. your alternate, route 309 will be your best bet. plus another more minor accident, kutztown, road, near sawyer road. one lane block there. lots of flooding on 130 in jersey. we will talk about that coming up in the next ten minute, jim, rahel, back to you.

>> thank you, meisha. now onto some breaking news, traffic flowing smoothly on the new jersey turnpike after tour bus crashes into a tractor-trailer sending over 30 people to area hospitals. >> "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at cooper university hospital where some of those victims are being treated. trang, good morning, what can you tell us? >> reporter: good morning, rahel, jim. the accident cleared just short time ago. fortunately there were no serious injuries in this crash. we are told that 32 of the 50 people involved in this accident were transported to area hospitals. nine of them are here at cooper. but, take a look at this video of the scene overnight. this accident happened just around 1:00 p.m. on the new jersey turnpike, near mile marker 19. now, that's in the area of west depford township. a turnpike spokesman says a bus caring about 48 passengers, and a tractor-trailer, collided, cause that tractor-trailer jackknife, and sending that bus into some bushes, on the side of the highway. now, again, 32 of the 48 passengers on the bus are being treated at a number of

hospitals, in the area for minor injuries. and the drivers of both the bus and the tractor-trailer, though, were not hurt. now, traffic as you can imagine was pretty back up for hours. but now, we are told, that all lanes, all southbound lanes of the new jersey turnpike, in that area of west depford township are now clear. no word at this time on the cause of this crash. but for now, live in camden, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news," rahel, jim, back to you. >> thank you, trang for that update. >> philadelphia police are investigating an overnight shooting in cobbs creek, that left a man critically injured. near 58th and christian street just before midnight, he managed to run about one block after being shot in the stomach before being taken to the hospital. narcotics may have been the motive in the shooting. so far no arrests. >> we are learning more about the man wanted in connection to a brutal assault of disable man in chester county. now we show this video earlier this week, police say that's 29 year old barry baker, sucker punching a man with cerebral palsy of a man in the

7-eleven, we dug deep near baker's backgrounds, found he pled guilty for stealing flag holders from veteran's graves to a scrap metal company, and more violations domestic relations case. >> he's wanted, the police are actively looking for him, and basically the hunt is on. the best thing he can do now is surrender himself immediately. >> let's help finds him. officials say baker has known contacts in coatesville, downingtown, georgetown, delaware, a source says baker bragged about fleeing to florida. >> jury deliberations, in creato. he was accused every killing his three year old son brando brandon. prosecution argues that creato killed his son because the child hindered his relationship with a teenage girlfriend. defense says that prosecutors failed to prove that creato was guilty. brendan creato found dead in a wooded area of cooper river park in october of 2015.

>> and a woman who lost her legs after building collapsed on her in center city has been awarded $95.6 million. arbitrator made that award yesterday to mariah planningen, in 2013 she was burried under the rubble at the salvation army store at 22nd and market for 13 hours. her injuries were so severe, her body below her hip had to be amputated. the collapse killed seven, injured 12 other. >> update to story we first told but last week, wildwood officials have voted to ban smoking on the boardwalk. the new ordinance doesn't go into effect until january 1st of next year. but officials are asking the people voluntarily refrain from smoking this summer. they say the board walk susceptible to fires, also concerned about the effect of secondhand smoke. >> ♪ >> ♪ >> and speaking of wildwood, it is the first stop of cbs-3 summer fest, celebration of all of the great things there are to do in our community

this time of year. >> "eyewitness news" reporter pat gallen is one of the many people who were headed to the shore this weekend, he's already there, in fact, live on the boardwalk in wildwood. good morning, pat. how do you get all of the best assignments? >> just luck of the draw, i guess, guys. just couple every minutes, the sun will rison yet another summer, and of course, summer fest. i worked on that line all week. how did it go? i think it went pretty well. here in wildwood, see the board walk completely empty, in just a couple of hours people will fill the board, they'll come out here, as well, which is where i got a chance to hang out earlier this week. this is the great maury peer. you got to love it. when you're a kid even not a kid you come out here and have yourself a good time. throughout the summer, so much happening on the wildwood boards walk, but a ton happening here at maury's. we've got obviously the amusement park. we have the water park, which is the portion that i got a chance to see behind the

>> wild car chase in california comes to crashing end, you saw it there, the driver barrels two gates while trying to flee, the man behind the wheel, and a woman, who was in the get-away car with him, were originally wanted for stealing the vehicle. they were both take never custody. that never ends well. >> no. >> still unclear what caused a medical helicopter to crash near an airport in new castle delaware. >> authorities say 37 year old pilot michael murphy of franklinville new jersey was killed, the chopper went down yesterday afternoon behind postal facility on quigley boulevard. now the chopper was registered to the university of pennsylvania, murphy was on training flight from atlantic city international airport when the crash happened. he was the only one on board the chopper, one eyewitness describes the horrifying scene. >> i looked up in the sky. and then i saw this or i heard

it, explode, and then i saw the black smoke. it was terrible. i'm still shaking. because i verbalize a life there gone. >> the national transportation safety board, the faa, delaware state police are investigating the crash. no one on the grounds was hurt. and two people have been hospitalized after a rail car in gloucester county started leaking flammable gas. 30,000 gallons of the gas started bursting from the tanker at the pure lands park in logan township yesterday morning. by the afternoon hazmat crews replaced when they say was a faulty valve. hundreds of workers at the style park went home early. children from a day care center nearby went to a hotel. i remember the noon show yesterday, some people couldn't get to work, children couldn't go to day care. >> craziness yesterday. >> yes. >> so will it be craziness in the weather that's what i want to know. >> well, i don't think so, at

least not for today. it will be a little unsettled, jim. so doing anything this weekend, just keep your ears open. it will be a little bit up and down. so far this morning, it is not too bad. couple every light showers out there. but we will actually see little bit of sunshine kicking off the day, as well, we didn't see really any of it until late, late in the day yesterday, but again, some sunshine, early on this morning, it will be breezy, and it will be on the warmer side of things, as we go through the afternoon hours. we didn't even hit 07 degrees yesterday. probably going to be upward of about maybe 75 to maybe 77 later this afternoon. that's some good news for us. but it comes at a price, and that's breezy conditions, also maybe another chance for a spotty afternoon shower to common through. the good news, again, spotty our operative word there. not going to be a wash out of a day by any stretch, like what we had yesterday. storm scan3, showing you that little bit of just light precipitation, still hanging around through bucks county, back up toward allentown, toward the poconos, as well, but if you look off to the west, lancaster, towards harrisburg, reading, out

there, lancaster berks county, seeing some drier air. and that's good news. because actually we will see that move into the delaware vale, move toward philly, move toward wilmington and the shore points, that will allow some sunshine, as i said recalling early on, in the day today. before another round of cloud cover does thicken upgoing through later portions of the afternoon. waking up this morning, relatively mild across much of the region. seeing those high 50's, out toward reading, allentown, both at 59 degrees. check out the shore, actually the warmest there, as it is anywhere else. sixty-one atlantic city, wildwood, zero six, millville, zero six also right now in center city with 57 as you head out toward trenton. so not a bad morning. temperature wise, if you do maybe want a light jacket, it is because it a little breezy, will be on the windy side later on in the day. right now five to 10-mile per hour winds, more out of the wells. that's why temperatures have started to rise little bit earlier on in the day. we will get little breeze think afternoon, ten, 15-mile per hour winds gusting upward of maybe 20, 25. our future weather for us, going through the rest of the morning, again, maybe some

sunshine, that's good news for us, few spotty showers as we get into the afternoon, can't be completely ruled out. not wash out after day. then clear skies for us tonight into tomorrow morning. saturday, sunday, monday, through the poconos, 68 by sunday, 74, tomorrow six a monday for our holiday forecast, jersey shore not looking too bad. seventy-five tomorrow. seventy-one sunday. seventy on monday. maybe spotty shower through the weekends though unfortunately. here is your seven day forecast, 77 for the high temperature today. getting up 2078 here in the city on saturday. seventy-six on sunday. eighty-three for us by monday. and then we will finally start to dry things out and look a little bit morissette recalled as we get through tuesday, wednesday and thursday of next week, meisha. >> all right, matt, little bit of everything there, thank you so much for that. happy friday to all of you. looking outside, beautiful shot here, 422, tail light moving in the eastbound direction at route 29. now, i will say, that we've had kind after string of problems out there this morning. right now, at the airport, 422 looking good, little wet,

little damp in there. might want to give yourself couple every extra minutes, maybe not right now, but little later i would say deeper into the 6:00 hour when you might want to think about it. boulevard tail light moving in the southbound direction at wissahickon, obviously headlight then moving in the northbound direction, you can see what you are working with there on the boulevard. live look at new jersey 42 north way, approach 295. this is what you will be working with. so, already, really starting to heat up on 42, although, i will say that typically around quarter after 5:00 this is kind of what it looks like, and on a friday, i think it looks maybe a little bit heavier than what we, but overall, that's fairly typical. so, this is where we have serious accident, commode lands township new jersey, very serious injuries. route 55 southbound closed right now before route 47. your alternate is going to be route 47, avoid this area, if you can, more updates coming up in the next ten minute. rahel, back over to you. >> okay, meisha, thank you. and now for a look at newspaper headlines from across our region. >> on the cover of the
