>> live from the doctor. bs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news." tonight at 6:00 remembering a hall of fame pitcher, the life of former philly jim bunting honored today at citizens bank park. and we are watching storm scan3, some rain is heading this way, so what will it mean for your holiday weekend? chelsey is keeping track of these passing showers.

good evening, natasha's off, i'm joe holden. jim bunting achieved much through his life, but known in our area as a central figure in philly east history. "eyewitness news" reporter alicia is live at citizens bank park with the details. alicia, good evening of the. >> good evening, joe, minutes before the game here the entire stadium paused for a moment of silence honoring the former phillies player, pitcher, who passed yesterday, we're told he passed yesterday evening, news of his passing, though, broke earlier today. many here remembering him as a pitcher or as a pitcher that was a hall of famer but beyond baseball, in all areas of his life. >> the worlds every baseball introduce today jim bunting in 1955, side arm pitcher placed 17 to the major least, phillies pittsburgh pirates, los angeles dodgers, when he retired and was eventually inducted into the baseball hall of fame, bunting chose to honor the team he last played

for, wearing a phillies plaque, phillies hall of famer and later successful politician who has now passed, was a good friend of phillies chairman, david montgomery. >> so for all of those, jim was special, in my case, had the opportunity to meet jim the very first year i worked for the phillies, 1971. he was still pitching at that time. and the thing i remember about him, he is just incredible competitor. >> yes, most that we spoke to remember the incredible competitor, the game he played in 1958, where jim bunting perched a perfect game, again, he passed last night from complications after stroke he had back in october. he is survived by his wife of 65 years, married. they also had nine children, 35 grandchildren, and he's also being remembered by thousands and thousands of phillies fans. reporting live outside citizens bank park, cbs-3, "eyewitness news."

alicia, thank you for that live report. greg allman of the classic rock bands the allman brothers died in salve and a greg and his brother were pioneers in the southern rock exchanges of the 19 70s, the live albumn at philmore east, put put the bands on the map, and they battled alcohol and drugs, greg almond recently canceled tour dates due to health problems. he was 69. police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in bristol bucks county investigators say a 50 year old woman was struck and killed on route 13 at beaver damn road. this happened in the southbound lanes just before midnight. police are now looking for a gray mini-van with missing headline, anyone with information is asked to call bristol borough police. a teenager is being hailed a hero tonight after rescuing his baby nephew from a burning home in the city's overbrook neighborhood. the fire broke out around 10:30 this morning, in the 1,000 block of flanders road. authorities say family did a head count and realized the

baby was missing. that's when the young man ran inside the burning home, to get his nephew. >> it is memorial day weekend, and the weather is an important part of this special holiday. there is a chance we'll see some showers. but, will it impact beach time? meteorologist, chelsey, liver in the weather center tracking some activity. chelsey? >> overall not bad day today. we started out with a lot of sunshine, then we saw the clouds move on n right now temperatures checking in in the 60s and 70s out there. 17 degrees in philadelphia, 62 in millville, a little cooler, along the beaches, 69 atlantic city, 56 degrees right now in wildwood. and then in the poconos, mount pocono right around 65 degrees. now, as we head into tomorrow, we are going to be looking at some rain chances that will be headed our way. we'll show you a look at storm scan3. we've got some showers right now that are popping up on storm scan3, located well down south of philadelphia, and to northern delaware. also, into cumberland county, places like morris river, dealing with some light lane,

into cape may county, too, that's going to be drying out though as we head into the overnight hours tonight. that will make way for more moisture out to our west, that's going to be headed into town for the holiday weekends, not going took completely dry but not looking at wash out either. high temperatures in the 70s. headed into sunday, monday, talk more about the rain chances in your updated forecast in a bit. for now back to you. >> chelsey, thank you. memorial day celebrations happening across the weekends this weekend, camden county today honored the memory of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, service to our country. "eyewitness news" was at the camden county veterans cemetery attilaly on haddon avenue camden, volunteers there placed hundreds of american flags on eve grave site. >> makes me feel great. it shows people still care. and these people who were honoring today have passed and there is no better homage than you can pay to our fallen brother and sisters than the

respect them on this day. >> the cemetery is the final resting place for hundreds of veterans, including more than 300 who served in the civil war. patriotic music filled independence mall this afternoon, the united states army, pipe and drum corp., entertained large crowds, one of the premiere musical organizations, the old drum corpse the ceremonial unit. escorts the president of the united states. their goal to inspire the country. i'm really glad to see a good turn out. and i'm -- it really makes me very happy to know that people still care about the history, and they still want to come out and actually experience it first-hand. >> the men and women of the corpse are proudly caring on traditions that accompanied the birth of our nation. >> well, many are heading down the shore this weekend, others are observing the holiday weekend in other ways. many headed to the museum of the american revolution in old city to learn about history and honor more than 20,000

soldiers who died during that period. throughout the weekends, visitors can write thank you notes to service members and leave carnation at the tomb of the unknown soldier. >> my grandfather was a world war ii vet. and i think it is important to show, you know, why we celebrate these kind of things, the history of our country, that, you know, these are freedoms people really died for and fought for from the very beginning. >> veterans are receiving a 5-dollar discount on admission from now through memorial day. president trump is on his way back to washington after wrapping up meetings at the g7 summit. before boarding air force one today, the president visited the air base for the united states in sicily, italy, the president's final stop on his nine day overseas trip, his first since taking office, and the president focused on fighting terrorism and increasing military spending. >> we're going have a lot of

strength. we're going to have a lot of peace. we will buy the planes, ships, vehicles, and equipment you need to get your job done and to come home safe and sounds back to your families. >> and the president will take sunday off and then on monday he'll mark memorial day at arlington national cemetery. >> today british police evacuated neighborhoods around a house being searched in connection with a manchester concert bombing. they made three more arrests this morning, also, today, britain reduced its terrorism threat level, from critical to severe. authorities say major progress has been made in unraveling the plots, behind a manchester bombing, 22 people were killed when the suicide bomber blew himself up at argue concert monday. british airways cancels all flights to london, to heathrow, while dealing with global fame your of its computer system.

>> a denver uber driver accidentally drove into a sinkhole caused by a water main break early friday. the 12-inch pipe broke about 1:00 in the morning, there a large sinkhole then opened up. the driver thought he was heading through a puddle but instead went into the 6-foot deep sinkhole. there were no reported injuries. >> a blue whale washed ashore in america inch county, california, the whale nearly 08 feet long and was not alive when it was discovered. well, the whale there is now going to be studied by the california academy of sciences. they say it possibly collided with a ship. >> wow the crowd in cumberland county. thousands gathered to wide fighter jets, demonstrations and more at the millville air show today. breathtaking speed or hovering the short distance from the ground ... a variety of aircraft, huge crowd at the millville air show saturday. >> this might be a record crow today. >> twenty to 30,000 people are expected to arrive. main air show located here at america's first defensive airport. >> the very first air show was in 1941 when are when they dedicated the airport. this is the 75th year of having air shows in millville airport. >> this year's perform kearse not disappoint. >> pretty cool. we've been to couple. but this is different. >> the first time ever gone to air show. pretty awesome experience. my son loves airplanes, so i figure we would come over to new jersey and check it out. >> this year the us navy blue angels are the main event. >> millville is the only stop in new jersey for the angels? year. while some are hearing them roar overhead for the first time, others try to see them as often as possible. >> ten times. >> rose kennedy appreciates the bravery of the pilot doing

network. it is memorial day weekend after all. looking at boardwalk plaza, rehoboth, plenty of people out on the beaches today, up on the board walk, enjoying their time. but we have had to dodge as well couple of showers and some sprinkles, and some locations, and we will talk more about that. we officially made it to 73 degrees today, in philadelphia. that's just a little bit below average for this time of year. we're now checking in right around 71 degrees. we're in the 60s in many locations including wilmington, 68 degrees, we have 69 at the atlantic city airport, 72 in trenton, 73 in allentown, for the beach areas we've had the winds blowing off the water in many locations so little cooler down there. 67 degrees, stone harbor, and right now around 64 degrees, in cape may. and we've been dodging those sprinkles and showers for many locations, but at this point in time, the bulk of the precipitation is located well south of town. we are dealing with some light rain though into northern delaware, as well as southern new jersey, and into cape may

county, cumberland county, near morris river. this is all going to be pu brief area ofh sunday. however, you are looking out to the west, that's where we have more moisture out that way. that is moving in, not until sunday night, that's going to bring our next chance for little rain, couple of showers, though, as we head into the remainder of the holiday weekend. looking at sunday night into monday, when we will see the next best chance for little bit of rain. dry, seasonable tonight, mainly dry, throughout the day sunday. so outdoor plans are a go. just be dealing with quite a bit of cloud cover. but also some sunshine, as well. shower chances moving on through, sunday night, into your monday. so, here is a look at the future weather. notice we stay dry as we head into the remainder of the overnight hours tonight. that rain moves on out of here, pushes down to the superintendent. we start out sunday completely dry. not thing on the map, but some cloud cover. see some peaks of sunshine as well, actually calling for partly sunny skies, as we head

into sunday, then notice the green start to re-appear on the map. but not until about sunday evening, and into the overnight hours. so, couple of showers, possibly a thunderstorm, that's going to be something we'll have to dodge, all the way through memorial day. and then it looks like things are going to be drying out at we head into monday night. here's look at your forecast for tonight. mostly cloudy, seasonable conditions, and dry. that's key, right? look for over night low temperature right around 60 degrees. as we head into sunday, partly sunny, dry for much of the day, high of 75, and then that rain is going to be moving in as we head into sunday night, and memorial day. so, on memorial day, you will have to dodge a shower, possibly under this earl storm, just keep eye to the sky, and we will be little warmer as we head into monday high right around 79 degrees. now here is a look at your eyewitness weather seven day forecast, looks like this, headed into tuesday, will be little warmer. sun and clouds, possibility after shower around, but that's just very tiny chance. i bet much of the day will be dry. look for high around 80 degrees on tuesday, by
