outdoor activities. >> we have been talking about that for the first hour. it looks like any afternoon plans you have, today, and during the daylight hours will not have any kind of problems. it will not affect your plan. now if you have anything going on later tonight or early in the day on memorial day, that is when you have to keep an eye on the sky but for right now taking a look at top of "eyewitness news" from sky scan with a few high cloud out there a very, very nice start to the day, very mild start to the day, check out these temperatures. 64 degrees currently right now in center city and it does feel muggy, maybe slightly humid with a dew point of 61, outside on the sky deck you can feel that humidity but overall it is in the a terribly muggy start to the day. little bit of fog out toward lancaster, reading and area of the lehigh valley. temperatures cooler as well. fifty-nine. fifty-six in reading. as sunshine comes out which it has it will burn that fog off looking at 60's though from philadelphia and east back

down toward the shore, atlantic city and wildwood 61, 62 degrees. we have 67 for the afternoon high. that is not the best beach day but not terrible day. partly cloudy skies. water temperatures right around 63 degrees. this afternoon we will be climbing all the way to 75, jan and we will talk more about that rain in a bit. >> sound good, matt, thank you we are following breaking news, this morning a massive house fire in north philadelphia send at lee one victim to the hospital. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live near the scene with the latest, anita. >> reporter: fire fighters got this blaze under control at 5:30 but as you can see behind me it is an active scene. lots of fire fighters still here. there are still lathers, damage, shattered windows and a charred frame here. this is on the 1800 block of north sixth street, and we are standing on the corner of westmontmont avenue near berk street and so far authorities say one person has been taken

to hahnemann university hospital and we also know that fire fighters and medics did rush here to find these two row homes engulfed in flames and neighbors described seeing much of the back of this home, engulfed in flames. they also say that there was some work being done on one of these homes, one of these neighbors described what he saw. >> we were talking, in the street, laughing, and then seven or 8:00 they were out there having if fun and then next thing you know is there a house fire. >> reporter: another live look here at the damage on the scene, still a very active scene out here after this fire sparked just before 5:00 o'clock this morning. neighbors tell me at lee five people lived in this home including two adults, one elderly grandmother and two young children. they say they saw the mother standing on the corner screaming for help earlier this morning. we are still waiting to learn more details at this time but we will bring you those as

soon as we get them on air and on line at cbs philly.com but for now, live from north philadelphia, anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". keep us up to date, thank you. police say a man was chased, shot, killed in the wynfield section of philadelphia shooting happened at north wilton and heston street around 2:00 this morning. the victim was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead there. so far no arrests have been made, police are trying to figure out a motive while checking cameras for clues. philadelphia police are investigating a shooting in the frankford section this happened at torresdale and bridge street. a man was shot, rush to the hospital, and we're told an argument sparked that gunfire but we are not sure what that fight was about. victim is in stable condition. so far no arrests have been made. more than three dozen atv and dirt bikes have been impounded after being seized by philadelphia police. take a look as officers posted these pictures of the vehicles

on twitter. they say patrol aviation and toe squad seized 39atv and dirt bikes they also made several arrest the. baseball fans are remembering jim bunning a player best known if our area assent rally with figure in phillies history. but popular politician across the country, as well. baseball hall of famer jim bunning has died at the age of 85 from complications after a stroke he had back in october. kentucky born athlete was first introduced in baseball in the 1950's. phillies fans grew to like the side armed pitcher. he is best known for pitching a perfect game on fathers day in 1964. >> jim was able to balance both being a hall of fame baseball player were being a u.s. senator and also, you know, incredible family man. so, it is a tough loss. >> although bunning pitched for three other teams during his 17 season career he chose to honor the phillies while

wearing the team cap on his hall of fame plaque, and leaves behind a wife, nine children, 35 grandchildren and thousands of fans. well, that is a wrap, president trump is back in the white house this morning following the first foreign trip of his presidency, first lady melania trump and president landed in maryland late last night. two were seen exiting air force one and board mag reen one to head to the white house cbs news correspondent wendy gilette has details on the president's first trip, from new york. >> u.s.a., u.s.a. >> reporter: president trump focused on fighting terrorism and increasing military spending n a speech to u.s. troops at a base in italy on saturday. >> we will have a lot of strength but we will have a lot of peace. we will buy the planes, the ships, vehicles, and equipment that you need to get your job done and to come home, safe and sound back to your families. >> reporter: it was president's final stop on a nine day overseas trip, and

his first since taking office. >> i think we hit a home run no matter where we are. >> reporter: earlier saturday president trump joined other leaders in the g7 nations for a group photo, during the g7 summit leaders held conversations with the president about climate change and trying to convince him to stick with the paris agreement he tweeted that he will make a decision next week. mr. trump held no news conferences during this trip unusual for a president on his first overseas journey but he made plenty of news, criticizing nato members for not spending enough money. >> twenty-three of the 28 member nations are still not paying what they should be paying and what they are supposed to be paying for their defense. >> reporter: president trump signed $110 billion arms deal in saudi arabia and became first sitting president to visit western wall in jerusalem. he has no public events, until monday, when he will mark memorial day at arlington

veterans from all branches of the military were celebrating yesterday. vets from world war two and others waved to the crowd there as state champion high school band from hightstown high performed the patriotic tunes. well, if you are looking for something to do today the national constitution center has some very special activities for memorial day weekend. among today's special events is a exhibit on famous memorials all around the country. there will be a flag raising ceremony this morning and a flag lowering ceremony, in the afternoon. guests can write post card to the national constitution center opens sunday at noon. laurel hill cemetery is also hosting a memorial day event today, ceremony to honor general george meed is taking place. he is union general who defeated confederate army at bat of gettysburg. it will honor all service members killed in action, there will be a color guard and wreath laying, the ceremony is at noon.

back on "eyewitness news" happening right now british airways is trying to return to normal operations after a glitch led to flight cancellations and stranded thousands of passengers. that glitch appears to have been cause by what company officials called a power supply problem and not a cyber attack. airline says engineers are working to fix the problem and that they are hopeful most uk flights will resume today but travel experts warn that the airline could be dealing with delays, cancellations, for days, british airways has apologized to travelers. victims of the friday's deadly train stabbing in portland, oregon are being remembered. group gathered to honor them recently. vigil took place at transit center where this all happened speakers tearfully addressed the crowd offering their condolences and asking people to fight back against hate. portland's mayor says that the two victims in the a tack died fighting hate. >> two men lost their lives

standing up to somebody spewing hateful word directed at muslim passengers, on an afternoon commuter train. these two men died heroes, as a result of a horrific act of racist violence. >> oregon governor kate brown calls it a crime of hate that is unacceptable in oregon. meanwhile fbi is now investigating deadly stabbing, as a hate crime, jeremy joseph christian is making his first appearance in court on tuesday , he is accused of stabbing three men who confronted him for yelling slurs at two muslim woman. two of the men died, third hospitalized and is expect to survive. christian is charged with aggravated murder and attempted murder among other things. people in missouri are cleaning up after severe weather moves through leaving behind destruction.

thousands of people, were left in the dark and tornado touched down near phillipsberg in the southwestern part of the state. it pulled trees out of the ground. there nor reports of injuries as of now. millville air show continues today in cumberland county. if you weren't there yesterday , here's what you missed out on. the show is a fundraiser for millville army airfield museum twenty to 30,000 people are expected to attend two day event, u.s. navy blue angels are main event. this is their own stop in new jersey this year, the show runs from 9:00 until 5:00 this afternoon, at the millville airport. matt, it looks like a good day. >> it does. we had a great day yesterday. sun, cloud mixing together today. we are waking up to a little

bit of fog across areas north and west of the city. take a lot broad headville area you can see sun out and that is good news if you are waking up to fog, maybe out near lancaster, sun out and that will help burn off this fog sooner rather than later. temperatures 58 degrees. so we are already seeing temperatures rise quickly again, because, that sunnies break go through the morning cloud cover. while this is visibility issues west and then north of the city here in center city back down toward the beach it is a great start to the day. storm scan three showing all of that shower, thunderstorm activity down to the south that is what jan was just talking about that system that pushed through missouri, arkansas and portions of northern mississippi anal bam as well. lots of thunderstorm activity still getting reports of the possibility of severe weather as this system continues to push southward but we will be watching as the northern half of that system tracks a little bit east and that could give us a chance for maybe a shower , isolated thunder as we

go through night tonight and tomorrow morning in the delaware valley. right now across philadelphia and surrounding area a relatively nice start to the day, a few high cloud but that is bit. getting a look at future weather we are seeing sun and included throughout the afternoon in the just philadelphia and poconos but shore points as well as we get through nighttime hours tonight, still not a whole lot going on by 5:00 o'clock tonight, maybe a few spotty showers isolated rumble of thunder cannot be completely ruled out in the poconos later portions of the afternoon and evening but if we see any precipitation it is mess likely a rain shower and it will be confined it looks like for the most part to areas north of philadelphia now as we go through the night time hours tonight showers develop along the shore points, maybe a stray shower, for us here in center city after about midnight or so and then once we get into really the mid morning hours on monday that is when showers and thunderstorms will push through center city and push through the delaware valley leaving us on machine afternoon, with chances for some sunshine, in the afternoon, and then maybe a

who but not found -- who but now found after more than four decade a local woman re united with a piece of jewelry she never thought she would see again, her class ring lost down the shore recently showed up in the mail "eyewitness news" reporter joe holden has the story from springfield, delaware county. >> i loved this ring. i did. >> reporter: piece of her past long gone or so she thought never forgotten, it showed up 42 years later. it was summer of 75 and peggy defrances can contact removed her loose fitting cardinal o'hara class ring. >> i laid it on my towel and went in the ocean. we were at forty-seventh and sea isle on the beach. >> reporter: last time that she saw it until this week, message was sent to her face book account. >> it was from this gentlemen, bj hogan who said asked me if i was peggy defrancheska from the class of 75. i said i what the. he is a i had we found your ring. i said in way. >> reporter: this is bj hogan. >> i went to social media

looked her up at facebook. >> reporter: football coach at o'hara said weeks ago this an zooming envelope arrived. >> opened it up, and there were just no note, there was nothing in there just a class ring. >> reporter: for peggy a haverford high teacher the ring was so special that she thought about having it remade >> i really thought, toyed with the idea of purchasing it my parents bought this for me. back then, $50 for a ring was a lot of money. >> reporter: ring brought back memories of good times. >> i think because i loved high school so much. i had such a good time. i really did have too much fun but that is another story. >> reporter: now mystery persists, and peggy says she wrote a thank you net to the return address, the ring came from. >> the mystery is like 42 years where was this ring. i wish i knew this story. i really do i want this story. >> reporter: we did stop by the homilies ted at that home address in sellersville. man who came, declined to comment and said he really did not want to talk about the story, so the intrigue goes on

"eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live near the scene with an update, good morning, anita? >> reporter: good morning, jan we have learn that three people have died in this fire on north sixth street and westmontmont avenue. we are actually here with philadelphia fire commissioner adam tiehl who will give us more detail about what happened this morning, good morning, commissioner can you describe a little bit more about what happened. >> well, philadelphia fire department dispatched at 4:42 to what came, all hand fire, so very serious fire.

companies arrived on the scene one of our ladder companies was able to rescue an occupant despite the very heavy and dangerous fire conditions. unfortunately that occupant a child expired at hahnemann hospital, despite best efforts of our fire fighters and medics, we're still, we have a couple occupants unaccounted for so what is what we are doing behind us we are doing secondary search to attempt to find those occupants unaccounted for. we don't know what their status is. again, very difficult fire fight, incredible job by our fire fighters and medics but unfortunately sometimes despite our best efforts it is just too late. i think that highlights why we talk we need everybody involved in the fire safety and fire prevention and please make sure you have working smoke alarms on every floor of your house. if you don't have them, can't afford them, 311 we will be out or one of our partners will be out. another tragic weekend for us in the philadelphia fire

department. >> reporter: definitely a tragic morning. you said earl their some people are unaccounted for. philadelphia police department was saying three people died can you confirm how many fatalities. >> i can't confirm. that to be clear, we were dispatched at 4:42 this morning. companies arrived very quickly this was all hand, and we had additional units on this job. very difficult, very challenging fire. a lot of fire in this occupancy. despite the fact that the fire has been under control for more than an her we are still dousing hot spots inside while we do secondary search. despite heroic efforts of the ladder co we were able to bring a child out of the building but that child expired. we still have two occupants unaccounted for. we are conducting behind a very dangerous operation to go in and see if we can account for those folks who are still, missing, ultimately this fire right now we have 30 apparatus , vehicles, units on the scene and almost a hundred perrinelle so a very difficult

concert, 22 people were killed new this morning, philadelphia police are trying to figure out what cause aid fatal shooting in the wynfield section of philadelphia police say a man was being chased when he was shot and killed. it appears it happened at north wilton and heston streets around 2:00 this morning. police rush the victim to the hospital where he was pronounced dead, investigators are checking nearby surveillance camera in hopes of finding the suspect. over in new jersey, now, a pedestrian is hit by a vehicle in willingboro township. this happened around 11:00 o'clock last night on south john f. kennedy way. police rush the victim to the hospital but is there no word on how this victim is doing this morning and unclear whether or not the vehicle stayed on the scene, and investigation is now underway. pennsylvania state police have a warning, they say you should watch for what are called, spoof calls, state police said someone recently received two calls that appeared to come from a pennsylvania state police station. when a person pick up, someone on the other end said the

police arrested a driver. this crash happened at baltimore/washington international airport yesterday afternoon. officials say that the suspect rammed its vehicle through a security gate there but they are not sure why he dit. passengers were just feet away at the time of the crash, thankfully no one was hurt. investigators say crash is not terrorism-related. this isn't the first time these gadgets have been in the news for gusting high tech hoverboard is blamed for starting a fire that damaged a home in kansas. thirteen year-old jordan donaldson of topeka, kansas say they were playing with the device but left it in the garage to charge. hoverboard sparked and then quickly went up in flames. >> really scary, we were lucky it wasn't in the basement or living room. >> the house, extensive damage

as you can see, the garage is pretty well gutted out and we have heat, smoke throughout the rest of the house. >> last year 11 different brand of the toy were recalled after nearly 100 reports of the burns, property damaged caused by fires resulting from over heated batteries, thankfully no one was hurt in this particular instant. switching to weather, better news, today, right. >> we are looking at sunshine here this morning, jan, we did have fog, that has developed, out in the lancaster reading area, to start out this sunday morning but good news is we really will be looking at a dry sunday especially during daylight hours even though precipitation could come in later on. our eyewitness weather watchers there a few up this morning talking about temperatures that are 50's and 60's across the area but wanted to talk about great pictures that our weather watchers sent in this morning, got a couple in from phil to start out the day of the

this is dorothy. all in long. we have been telling but georgey's mother was rescued by humane law from the pennsylvania spca and that was months ago. it turns out, saidi the boro the donkey was pregnant with this little angel who was born and isn't he darling? he was name, georgeie after an on line contest by pennsylvania spca. the name won by three votes out of 500, $4,000 was raised and this babe need strad care because he came from a lot of neglect or at least his mother did because she was abandoned and starving with other animals in hunterdon county, in pennsylvania. pennsylvania spca took her in and then ended up with little georgee who needed blood transfusions because of his mother's earlier neglect and care. he has been adopted. he is doing just great. >> good. >> mothedder will be available for adoption once she no longer need, you know, to be around georgei so much.

>> i love happy endings. >> i do too. >> what you might not necessity and thinks 150th anniversary of the pennsylvania spca saving animals all those years. as you pointed out when we were talking about this during the break that they started out by rescuing horses. >> i had no idea. >> now over last five years or so i would say they have rescued over 100 horses. >> incredible. >> they have got some there in protective custody but we would show you pictures but we're not allowed to but these come in from abuse and neglect there is a center in danville, that is where we have got horses and where if you feel like helping out, obviously, the pennsylvania spca is 100 percent funded, by us, by you, me and people at home. we have no government funning at all. there is so many cases of cruelty for dogs, cats, horses and other farm animals and humane law enforcement. that is why we need funding. is there a program called funding our philly. that fixes up some of the sections in danville where we

have more of the horsees there >> how do people donate then, can they go on line. >> i wish they would, if you have got a thinking bit get to the spca.org web site. on than site you can browse at adoptable dogs, cats, find out ways to volunteer, you have got all sorts of training tips and behavior tips and how you can get involved, and maybe foster and that sort of thing, spend some people, spca.org. it is hard walking in because you see those eyes and just like, you want to take them all. you end up not taking any home so it is important, that you may be check them out, do your research. >> dowry search. >> check them out on line and then get down and say you know what you have got a couple i want to show you, that we have got their pictures, upright now. take a look at this cat. new this cat is just great. this is heatmiser. >> i knowy love that hair color who dit. a five-year old domestic short
