ringer around today or coming back from the family festivities, and right now, it is very, very wet on this extended weekend. so matt, how long will this last? >> i think it will last maybe until about lunchtime, then have just a few spotty showers this afternoon, so, you know, we have little light here at the end of the tunnel, could even see some sunshine, that's good news, overall here this morning, damp and dreary start to the day to say the least. storm scan3, lots of green out there, little bit of even yellow, some orange popping up, too, so few areas could be getting more moderate rainfall, but for the most part, right now, across pretty much all of the delaware valley, it is a soggy start to memorial day. you can see the showers across center city, now some of the southern shore points on the dryer err side north of atlantic city maybe toward lbi, getting showers to start out the day, then also out toward the poconos, wet morning, probably the heaviest rain falling up north of allentown, maybe getting shower activity being maybe ramble every thunder as well

up in the poconos here this morning. doesn't look like we will see widespread shower and thunderstorm chances, but again, they're going to be out there through most of the morning, and few spotty showers even this afternoon. waking to up temperatures in the 50's, few 60s along the shore points, and as we get a look there, cape may at 59, rehoboth at 60. ocean city 58, zero six in stone harbor with the 59 in the philadelphia area. here is our hour by hour forecast, we go with high today right around 08 degrees with hopefully again few peaks every sunday shine later in the day. so meisha hopefully not too many people out this morning, but if they are again little rain going on. >> yes, certainly some rain. so it can make for some slick conditions, good morning, happy memorial day. if you are just waking up with us so glad you're here, it is early, looking outside just very, very wet out there. see that in every camera shot we basically show you. so take it easy, you can see 42 freeway northbound at creek road. really what we are keeping our eye on this morning, a loft people coming back from the shore, taking the northbound side, so see what ends up happening, but right now still

looking obviously very quiet as it is still dark and early and rainy. again, we will have some of the pooling that collecting of the water on the side street, pulled over to the shoulder, so just take it ice. this is looking very wet around here, 59 taillights moving in the southbound direction, past academy, you can see how wet it is, and just don't want any hydroplaning. that's what we are keeping our eye on this morning, 95 at the airport, anywhere around the airport, by the way, sounds like there are no delays or cancellation toss flights yet. we will keep you posted if you are traveling by flight today. and then construction on this bridge, the bridge closed, supposed to be open this weekend, connects sea isle city and avalon, townsend inlet bridge still closed. alternate garden state parkway or route nine our best bet there, over to you. >> thank you, police in kensington are investigating an overnight stabbing that left one man dead and another injured. "eyewitness news" reporter trang do live at temple university hospital where the victim is being treated. good morning, trang, what can you tell us? >> well, good morning, rahel. police tell us surviving victim, 57 year old man, in

critical condition, here at temple hospital with multiple stab wounds, to his chest as well as his head. police also found second man, who was pronounced dead on the scene. but take a look at this video of the scene last night around 9:15. police responded to apartment building, on the 3400 block of frankford avenue. that's in the city harrow gate section every kensington, this is directly across the street from john webster elementary school. now in an apartment, officers found a man around the age of 40 with stab wounds all over hits boyde. paramedics pronounced him dead on the scene. officers found the 57 year old man in the same apartment with multiple stab wounds to his head and his chest. paramedics rushed him to temple hospital where doctors are now trying to save his life. at this point, it is unclear how these two men are linked. at this time police have not made any arrests or recovered the weapon used. but for now, live from temple hospital, i'm trang do, cbs-3, "eyewitness news," rahel, back to you. >> trang, thank you. new this morning out of

delaware, 14 year old girl, 38 year old man shot wilmington seventh and van buren street late last night. both shooting victims rushed to the hospital where they are currently in stable condition. police are still trying to figure out what sparked the gunfire and so far no arrest haves been made. >> and gunfire erupt in fairmount park, leaves 19 year old man shot seven time. this happened around 6:00 yesterday evening along belmont mansion drive near belmont avenue. the victim was rushed to the hospital where doctors say he is in stable condition despite his injuries. so far police have made no arrests. >> and man recovering this morning, after a dirt bike and car collide on the juniata park section of philadelphia. >> this crash happened shortly before 7:00 last night, at the intersection of whitaker and wyoming avenues. thirty-three year old man was taken to the hospital we're told he's in stable condition, it is however unclear if he was a driver of the dirt bike or of the car. >> meanwhile, 39 illegal dirt bikes and atv's off the streets thanks to the philadelphia police department, joe sullivan tweeted congratulates toss

patrol aviation and tow squads on successful rounds up. several arrests were also made. >> and investigators are going through what's left of north philadelphia house to find out what started a fire that killed three people. the fire complained the lives of nine year old prudent figueroa, seven year old dean figueroa and their grandmother, 53 year old. roughly 100 firefighters returned to north sixth street and montgomery avenue, and fire commissioner adam teal now taking this opportunity to urge everyone to know more about fire safety. >> you know, our folks are making rescues, pro ticking property 24/7. it is the same time, we just, just cannot do this alone. i mean, we got to have help, and really, really are imploring everybody to take charge of your own buyer safety. >> and the red cross is helping the children's parent both of whom jump to safety. >> and tragedy during fleet week. elite navy sky diver killed during demonstration over the hudson river. happened in jersey city near

liberty state park. elite team of four parachute jump terse called the leap frogs was performing a demonstration when one sky diver parachute failed to open. he landed in the water and he was rescued and returned to the hospital. but died short time later. >> and i ask for all of your prayers at the navy seal community who lost a true patriots today. >> something everyone is enjoying, then changed real quick. just to hear somebody died like that, and seeing it happen, it is a little disturbing. >> officials say a lot of people did see it happen. they say thousands of people were watching the show when the accident happened. what caused the parachute to malfunction is still under investigation. >> and overseas now, tonight will mark one weeble zero week since bomb went off at ariana grande concert in manchester glands killing 22 people, injuring dozens every other. now mother who survived the horrific attack with her daughter speaking out.

because it is just haunting. >> she said yesterday afternoon she got on with her friends, 17 year old girl, who was muslim. soon after, she says, a man started yelling at them, spouting off hate. >> he told us to go back to saudi arabia, and he told us that we shouldn't be here and to get out of his country. he was just telling us that we basically weren't anything, and we should just kill ourselves. >> the 16 year old said scared they decided to move to the back of the train, all while a stranger moved in to help. >> this white male from the back every us came, and he is talking to you guys, like you guys, you can't disrespect these young ladies like that, and then they just all started arguing. >> what happened next, she said, she will never forget. >> me and my friend, we were going to get off the max, and then we turned around while they were fighting and he just started stabbing people and it was just blood everywhere, and we just started running for

our lives. >> her mom, said she owes everything to the two men that died and are now grieving families. >> i want to say thank you so much. i can't imagine what you're going through right now as far as losing someone, and i'm sore that i it had to be at the hands of my children. >> as for her show, has her own message to the strangers turned heroes who gave up their lives to protect hers. >> i just want to say thank you to the people who put their life on the line for me, because they didn't even know me, and they lost their lives because of me and my friend, and the way we look. and i just want to say thank you to them and their families, that i appreciate them. because without them we probably would be dead right now. >> that was haley rush reporting, the suspect jeremy

though, didn't stop the first annual penn's landing waterfront day. crowd gathered at the delaware riverfront, yesterday, playing music, drinks, even mini golf. some told "eyewitness news" this was the perfect day to enjoy the long weekends. >> this is our week. this is our week. so that's jim ' here. i need to relax. i had a long week. >> it is easy family fun, no hassle, you don't have to deal with the traffic, going to the shore and everything. >> and people as we can see here danced the night away while the rain came down, then to finish offer the night, ya, nice little fireworks display other delaware. but guess who did spend the weekends down the shore for memorial day weekends, the great white shark known as mary lee, the latest came from her twitter account last night puts her offer the coast every wildwood. guess this, 16 feet long, weighing 3500 pounds. mary lee not alone. trackers have also found a male great white named sisco fawn nearby.

all right, time now 5:15. we send it over to matt for a forecast, mary lee apparently quite the phenomenon. i just check her twitter account, 108,000 followers. >> i want to know how she tweets under water with those fins, i don't know how that works. >> right, no visible thumbs. >> i don't know. but if you're down the beach this weekend, you had a relatively nice weekend. we had some sunshine, little cloud cover at times, but, unfortunately, does look like our monday, memorial day, last day of the may, the worse of the four days or three days. but really was not bad memorial day. headlines for our memorial day. showers are likely to hang out through most of the first half of the day. and even though few spotty showers are likely in the afternoon, peaks of sunshine for us in the afternoon, as well, so the overcast skies here this morning, giving way to mostly cloudy conditions later on, and then looking at dry werth, as we move to the overnight hours tonight. so that's good news for us, there is another chance for few showers, though, moving

into tuesday. big area of low pressure spirals in the northern great lakes, up through lake superior, see the showers, couple every thunderstorms back through the up of michigan, northern minute society, a all of the heavier precipitation kind of west central pennsylvania, that eventually will track eastward, as it does it, will lift just little bit to the north. while if i he i -- philly, chances for showers again later this afternoon, really looks like as though the heaviest rain is going to stay north of the city. and north of the shore points. and again, some that far could be even be thunderstorm activity, for the most part looks like better chance for the thunderstorm here this morning, and maybe even little bit in the afternoon are going to be up toward the poconos rather than here in the city. our future weather, you can see the heavier rainfall allentown mount pocono, again through the morning hours, most of south jersey and back down toward delaware after this initial rounds every rain stays relatively dry through most of the morning, again, few spotty shower chances not just for the shore but back toward center city.

trenton back in toward the action. wilmington you few sat i -- shotty powers -- showers, 1:00, 2:00. could see few breaks of the sun, good news. so if you have afternoon plans today, just keep an eye to the sky. i don't think you need to cancel our outdoor activities, but keep eye. if it does look like there is spotty shower just postpone things for maybe 15, 20 minute, then it looks like most of the showers should move out. through the nighttime hours tonight, dry, cloudy side of things, then through tuesday, showers, thunderstorm redevelops as another boundery pulls through the region, will allow our temperatures to maybe get little bit warmer early in the day, but then could cool off later in the afternoon. 07 degrees up in the poconos today for high temperature with the rain showers, 08 degrees for us here in the city. again, morning showers, breaks of sunshine, and we go again with the high temperature of 80. seventy-nine thomas many folks head back to work, few spotty showers, mostly cloudy skies, sunshine, 81, on wednesday. more great conditions on

thursday. we go to high of 78 degrees, plenty of sunshine, next share chance doesn't come until the weekend, meisha. >> matt, doing our best to make a wet memorial day sounds fun and exciting. looking at the roadways, we will do the same thing. not fun but here's a beautiful shot of the ben franklin bridge. for those every you moving from jersey, westbound, into center city, not many of you, but if you are traveling over bridges, bridge decks, under the bridges, i can tell you right now, that it is going to be very slippery. because that far pooling. so, a lot of hydroplane, hydroplaning can happen if we don't take it easy out there. so again the ben franklin bridge, looking very wet as you push in the westbound direction, but gorgeous shot there, sometimes that's all we need is a little bit of eye candy. blue route, ridge pike, not so much talking about congestion levels. today mainly welcome back if you are maybe out of town for memorial day or whatever. but we are going to be talking about how slippery this can be. even though not talking about bumper to bumper conditions, it is going to be a lot of take it easy when you come
