presbyterian hospital where councilman oh underwent surgery, good morning, jan. >> reporter: rahel, good morning, that is right, councilman david oh underwent surgery a short time ago and out of surgery and is in stable condition. but he was brought here to penn presbyterian with a serious injury, stabbed once in the left side. philadelphia police say he was in good spirits and he wants everyone to know that this morning. in the meantime fail police are searching for the man responsible for attacking him. take a look councilman david o h just arrived home late last night around 9:45 after a long day of work, in meetings. he parked his car in the 5800 block of thomas avenue in kingsessing. as he was going through, getting his bags out he was approached by a man in his 20 's. suspect mumled something and o h could not understand him. he tried to talk to the man to see what he has wanted like he has done so many times during the course of his job. suspect pulled out a knife and demanded the councilman's keys

he stabbed him once and ran away leaving him with nothing. neighbors rush to help him and medics brought the councilman to penn presbyterian. >> take him to emergency surgery because of the stab wound is and where organs are. he is in good spirits prior to surgery. >> reporter: police say this appears to be a totally random attack, a crime of opportunity , they say he is now in stable condition. he is expected to make a full recovery. they are searching for this man responsible. they don't have a great description only to say he is a man in his 20's. they hope to find surveillance video as well as eyewitnesses that can help out. if you have any fur, please call police. we're live at penn presbyterian, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right, jan, thank you. mayor kenney is in iceland but we sent his tweet overnight we are playing for councilman oh questions recovery. i urge anyone any information to call 911.

several city officials responded after learning what happened to councilman oh. "eyewitness news" reporter anita oh is live with reaction from some of the council's collogues. good morning, anita what are they saying. >> reporter: what we're learning that is councilman david oh is resilient and will likely be back on the phone with other councilman members talking about legislation very soon. he is only military veteran on council, after being honorably discharged from the army national guard. we want to show you video from the job, in 2011 he became first asian american to be elect to publish office here, in philadelphia, he was re elected in 2015. the 57 year-old is also a father. he and his wife have four children together. councilman posted this photo on twitter last week celebrating his daughter sarah 's tenth birthday. last night council president darryl clark visited the councilman in the hospital. >> at any point anytime it doesn't matter who it is, random violence, it strikes

again. we will just keep saying our prayers, make sure the family is okay and dave's a tough guy he will be okay. >> reporter: other staff members visiting the councilman in the hospital last night, and actually the same block in kingsessing where councilman was stabbed is same block he grew up in and lived for more than 50 years. we're live at city hall, i'm anita oh for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> all right, thank you. three people are gunned down in north philadelphia leaving a teen and another man dead. eyewitness news said two men on bikes shot victims just after 11:00 p.m. on the 1300 block of front street, they were all taken to the hospital where unidentified man in his 20's and a 17 year-old died a short time later. third victim was shot in the arm and is in stable condition n word on any arrests. happening today, lawyers for bill cosby will be in montgomery county court for a pretrial hearing. cosby faces trial in norristown next week on charge that he is drugged and sexual

ly assaulted a temple employee at his home in 2004. the 78 year-old cosby denied charges. jurors for trial were select from the pool in pittsburgh, because of pretrial publicity in philadelphia. cosby could be sentenced to 10 years in jail if convicted. also today, testimony continues in the trial of lee kaplan who was accused of sexually assaulting six sisters inside his home in feasterville bucks county. prosecutors say that the five three-year old kaplan had two children with one of the girls allegedly gifted to him by her parents. the girls mother testify that she considers kaplan a prove if the. susan stoltzfus and her husband, await sentencing. president trump will announce whether u.s. stays in or withdraws from the paris climate accord this afternoon. it is widely believed that the president willful fill his campaign promise and pull u.s. out of the agreement. the paris climate accord is aimed at curbing global warming, every nation signed on but two war torn syria and nicaragua. there will be much more on president trump's announcement
