spokesperson for councilman david oh tells us he's in good spirits expected to make a full recovery here at penn presbyterian hospital. his surgery went very well. we're told this happened around 10 o'clock last night. the 5800 block of thomas avenue. that is where police say a man approached the councilman tried robbing him and then stabbed him. councilman david oh in good spirits and recovering at presbyterian medical center thursday surrounding by family, all smiles. a frightening scene though about 14 hours ago when police say a man stabbed oh on his left side between his chest and waist in what appears to be an armed robbery. near oh's home on the 5800 block of thomas avenue. >> he was approached by a black male in his 20's. the male was saying something. he can't understand so he engages the nhl conversation. as the male gets closer to him he announces a robbery tells him give me your keys, pulls

out a knife. >> reporter: lieutenant john walker says that's when the 57-year-old is that stabbed once and rushed to presbyterian. >> we're looking for surveillance cameras. >> reporter: throughout last night and this morning plenty of well wishers arriving to see oh including friends and fellow council members. >> david is a tough guy t he'll be okay. >> certainly are happy to hear that he's doing okay on i look forward to seeing him face to face again this morning. >> reporter: rahel, right now an active search for that that suspect. police have not yet made any arrests and they're combing the neighborhood for surveillance video. meanwhile we're told even though councilman zero is expected to make a full recovery, he likely will not be released from penn presbyterian today. we're live at penn presbyterian hospital, i'm greg argos cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> all right, greg, thank you. and a woman wall critically injured overnight after a vicious attack in frankford. this happened just after 2:30 this morning across from aria frankford hospital on

frankford avenue. police say a man beat the victim unconscious and tried to stuff her into a trash bag. the attacker ran weigh when will hospital employees came over to assist the victim. >> employees who witnessed this across the street from the hospital started shouting out at the male. the male then stopped trying to put at the female in the trash bag, dropped the bag and then fled on foot north on frankford avenue. >> the hospital employees brought the victim straight to the hospital for treatment. police are still searching for her attacker. no word on what sparked that violence. two people are dead including a teenager after a triple shooting in north philadelphia. eye witnesses told police two males on bicycles shot the victims just after 11:00 p.m. on the 1300 of rush street. an unidentified man in his 20's an 17-year-old both died. a third victim was shot in the arm and is in stable condition. no word on a motive. firefighters in northampton county are dealing with a very dangerous situation after several

tractor-trailers burned with highly flammable materials inside. authorities say just before 10:00 this morning a fire startd the in a tractor carrying butane, then spread to a building into more trailers packed with fireworks. we're told no one was hurt but crews will be out there for some time to ensure the fire is under control. attorneys for bill cosby in a courtroom for a pretrial hearing. cosby faces a trial beginning next week on charges they drugged and sexually assaulted a temple university employee back in 2004. cosby denies the charges. jurors for cosby's trial are coming from pittsburgh because of publicity surrounding the case in philadelphia. more testimony in the trial of lee kaplan accused of sexually assaulting six sisters inside his home in feasterville. investigators found 11 girls including a 17-year-old allegedly gifted to him by her parents. the mother of the girls testified and said she thought

kaplan was a prophet. within the hour a reported black bear sighting in the chapman pool area of doylestown and it's not the first one. take a look at these pictures from the doylestown borough facebook page. the bear was spotted near route 202 and east swamp road last night and early this morning. there are no reports of injuries or property damage but obviously authorities say they want to track this bear down sooner rather than later. we'll keep you posted. and do you recognize this man? not the clearest surveillance video but he was caught on camera stealing hanging flowers baskets from a home in bethlehem township northampton county monday morning in the vineyard at wagner farms development. if you do recognize this man, bethlehem township police want to hear from you. okay. turning now to weather. after a mostly rainy and often cloudy may the sun is a welcome sight to start the month of june. kate fehlinger live on the cbs3 sky deck with how we are kicking off the month.

this is a very nice change. >> no kidding. you said it. a well deserved break. we had two and a half inches of excess bit comes to the may rainfall. this is a welcome sight. even though yesterday afternoon was quite lovely all in all. we still had to allow for a shower or storm which ended up firing up at some point for some of you. at this point it's the wind that's the most noticeable x factor of the day here but it's still a great afternoon. then by the way happy meteorological summer. we are starting that season off as of now. let's take a at the graphics here and again, it's meteorological summer but technically we sort of make it official with astronomical summer june 21st. spotty patchy clouds overhead it real sal lovely beginning to the afternoon but again you do notice that that wind. we're already at 80 degrees at philadelphia international airport. so, you know, we're going to

do well with no problem here. we achieved the low 80's around the region as a whole and again, that breeze is noticeable but really is a comfortable start to the afternoon here so enjoy this while you've got out. lots of sunshine, a couple of clouds, nothing more and this is a pattern that eventually must come to an end as all good things tend to do so a little later in the broadcast we'll give you the full forecast, give you a sense of when the storm is about to make its arrival and it's coming up by the time we hit the weekend. so, no spoiler alert just yet rahel but that's something we'll be discussing later on. >> katie see you soon. thank you. president trump is expected to reveal his decision today on whether to pull the u.s. from the paris climate accord and the whole world is watching. correspondent weijia jiang reports from the white house. >> we're going to cancel the paris climate agreement. >> reporter: president trump is expected to live up to that campaign promise. sources tell cbs news the president told senior advisers that he will pull the u.s. out of the paris climate accord.

>> we're going to find out very soon. >> reporter: in 2015 former president obama along with 195 countries formed the agreement which pledges to reduce carbon emission that is contribute to global warming. >> this is one of those things where we're all in it together. >> reporter: mr. trump discussed the agreement with european allies while attending the g7 summit in italy last week. >> i continue to lobby the u.s. at all levels to continue to take climate change extremely seriously and to show the leadership that america has shown in the past. >> reporter: president trump will announce his decision this afternoon in the rose garden at the white house. 25 major corporations are urging him to stick with the agreement. they took out a full page ad in today's new york times arguing the agreement generates jobs and economic growth warning that withdrawing could expose the u.s. to retaliatory measures. in the past, the president has called global warming a hoax. he signed an executive order last march that lifts a 14 month old moratorium on new

vittoria woodill will be there live for "eyewitness news" at 5:00, 6:00, 10:00 and again at 11:00. and a guitar used by the grateful dead's jerry garcia sold at auction last night for $1.9 million. the late musician played this wolf guitar in concerts all over the world from 1973 until his death in 1995. the buyer hasn't been identified but proceeds of the auction benefit montgomery alabama's southern poverty law center. >> somebody had a lot of money. >> yesterday i started to feel the tide turn. i was out yesterday afternoon. i started to feel the nice weather so it's very nice today to have a full throttle. >> a little bit of a breeze just makes it that much better. sometimes that breeze can mess with you. it was blowing my hair around on the sky deck but you don't mind it. it's a warm breeze that's going to make it feel more comfortable. nothing but sunshine the rest of the afternoon. i'll tell you this much, our

field camera where there's fun times going on they are filling up were with people like the beach for example. we'll start things off way quick glance at storm scan3 to show you the good news. isn't it nice when it's empty on storm scan and it's going to stay this way at least throughout the better part of tomorrow. there's a very minor, very weak disturbance that is going to nudge in from the north, second half of the day, afternoon evening watch for a shower or thunderstorm but otherwise right through saturday we're under the influence of high pressure and then we start to see a new system move in. why am i showing you the tropics? we mentioned earlier it's the beginning of meteorological summer. it's also the beginning of atlantic hurricane season a very quiet open atlantic sea right now but this is marking the beginning of the season. we start to see ocean water temperatures really heat up and the activity can get going. we'll take a look at noaa's

expecting upwards of 17 that's a little bit above average, five to nine which will become hurricanes and two to four which will become major hurricanes, at least a category three so we'll see how we do and it's worth a mention we did already see arlene rare april tropical storm that formed over the atlantic. the north atlantic no less, very rare for that to happen. let's talk thermal peeks. we're in the middle of what we like to call solar summer where the solar radiation is at its peak. then you get in lag that takes place. the warmer air temperature comes our way in july and the warm midwest water temperatures into august because there's that delayed reaction. air will heat up more readily than the water will. kind of like waiting for that slow boil from your pot on the stove. that's why the water temperature is at that kind of a lag but that's where we start to peak with these kinds of values. that's also the reason that you'll start to see a lot more activity in the tropics toward august, early september because you're at peak of the open ocean water. with that said, let's bring it

back state side and talk a little bit about the here and now. i mentioned the breeze on the sky desk. it's noticeable but it feels g i can't necessarily always say that when you're into the teens, it's a westerly wind flow but again, you know, don't expect that you're going to have a perfect hair day but it is still a really nice afternoon. what did i tell you about the activity on the shore line? what a beautiful picture. i'm jealous of these people out at rehoboth beach right now. barely a cloud in the 69 it's going to stay that way. make the most of it. worth some mentioning that rip current risk is moderate. make sure you find a lifeguard if you plan on dipping your toes into that 65 degrees water. it's a little chilly for me. spotty thunderstorm at worst tomorrow late day. second half of the day i think is our best chance to see any wet weather move in but clouds start to build through the course of sunday. >> we don't have too much time to enjoy it. >> a couple of days is more than we've had for awhile so we're good. >> katie take a look at this.
