philadelphia city councilman is now under arrest. what david oh is telling us about the man he says delivered the blows just days ago. good evening, i'm natasha brown. thank you so much for joining us. we begin tonight with the developing story about this toddler shot and killed on the 2900 block of bethel road in chester township delaware county and that is where we find "eyewitness news" reporter alycia nieves. >> reporter: authorities confirm a three-year-old boy died from a gunshot wound here police actually just cleared the scene a few minutes ago leaving with evidence bags. inside one of those evidence bags we're told a 9-millimeter gun, the gun in that fatally wounded the three-year-old boy inside this home and this obviously a developing story. i'll tell was we know right now. police were called to the home around 3:30 this afternoon the corner of green street and bethel road. the call came in as a child shot. police were on scene within minutes and so were ambulances. an ambulance remained at the

scene until about 4:30 and that's when we saw a medical examiner's vehicle arrive. police did confirm a three-year-old boy died authorities saying he was shot in the chest with a 9-millimeter gun and that it appeared the bullet went completely through the child's body. outside the child's home we saw family members flooding here obviously devastated. an uncle of the little boy told us his nephew who he calls junior and who was three years old that young boy somehow got ahold of the gun inside the house and the uncle said the boy was playing with it and the gun went off. authorities investigating how this child got ahold of this gun. reporting live in delaware county, alycia nieves cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> thank you so much for that update. also following breaking news out of london. a major police response is happening right now on the london bridge in the central part of the city. london police have only tweeted right now that they are dealing with "an incident on the bridge."

there are reports that pedestrians may be involved. we will continue to follow this story as we learn more tonight both on television and you can get the latest on our web site cbsphilly.com. now the suspect meantime wanted in connection with the stabbing city councilman david oh turned himself in to police today. this comes as councilman oh gets back to work after the failed robbery attempt. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has more. >> i feel g i good. >> reporter: david oh is about as upbeat as you can expect from a person who was the victim of a stabbing this week during a robbery attempt wednesday night in front of his home on thomas avenue in west philadelphia. friday night police issued a warrant were for suspected attack territory-year-old sean yarbray. he turned himself in saturday morning. >> i'm glad he turned himself in because that means nobody got hurt and that he's cooperating. >> reporter: oh says before being stabbed he got a good look at his attacker and has

little doubt police have the right man. >> the police drove me around pointing out different people and i was happy to say that's not him, that's not him, that's not him but when i saw this photograph i said that's him. >> reporter: many philadelphians look at oh's attack as evidence the city still has a lot of improvement to make addressing crime and the underlying causes. oh amazed many by showing up to work two days after getting stabbed saying he wants to get back to work addressing those issues. >> i love you so much. >> reporter: neighbor stephanie dixon was glad to learn of the arrest and happier zero was all right. >> he supports us in the neighborhood. he's from the neighborhood and -- >> reporter: that means a lot to you. >> yes, it does. >> reporter: why. >> yes, it does. 'cause you don't find too many people or politicians that support you like that. and he's one of them. he's rare eight. oh says he's not had an opportunity to see yarbray since the arrest but says he would have no trouble picking him out in a line up. in west philadelphia cleve bryan "eyewitness news."

>> an suv struck and killed a woman in marple township delaware county this morning. it happened on the 300 block of sussex boulevard around 6:15. authorities say the woman was crossing the road near central boulevard when she was hit by the vehicle. her name has not been released just yet. now the driver remained at that scene and is cooperating with authorities. and firefighters battled a house fire in upper providence montgomery county about 9 o'clock this morning. this is an aerial view here of the fire fight on the 600 block of sixth avenue. one person was injured. the cause of the blaze is still under investigation. and some big hollywood names are helping the philadelphia film industry fight to keep making movies and tv shows right here in our city. the greater philadelphia film office hosted a rally at the rocky steps today. they are asking the pennsylvania legislature to increase the amount of money for film making tax credits in the commonwealth. the current cap is $60 million and the once that's gone, productions look at other

states with better incentives. our own ukee washington spoke with director m. night shyamalan at the rally today. >> we love making movies here. it's a very artistic state. we would probably turn into the biggest film and tv city in the country. i believe that. if we would become that. >> well, critics say pennsylvania is facing a $1 billion budget deficit and the film tax credit program system wasteful. now speaking of better things it's a beautiful day out there today. the last two days or so have been pleasant pretty breezy but it's all about to change. chelsea ingram joins us with a look at when will showers will be returning. i knew they were going to come back chelsea. >> they always do. it wasn't the most gorgeous start to the day but look at storm scan3 now. it's quiet, high pressure in control, we're in store for mostly clear skies as we head into the overnight hours tonight. temperatures are checking in

in the 70's. it is 76 degrees currently at philadelphia international airport. that is our official high temperature for the day today. only about 3 degrees below average for this time of year. other places in the 70's like allentown and trenton. we're in the 60's in mount pocono right around 65 degrees. now, as we head throughout the evening hours things are just looking fantastic. if you'll be out and about late tonight maybe a good idea to grab a light jacket because it's growing to be going to be turning cooler. 8:00 p.m. plenty of sunshine 71. we'll see sunset just before 8:30 this evening. here's what we're going to be talking about coming up. a nice comfy night but a wet start to the work week and much cooler as we head into next week. details in a bit. natasha back to you. >> thanks chelsea. crowds gathered in philadelphia to take part in the nationwide march for truth rally. many folks held signs on the ben franklin parkway. they called for an independent investigation into alleged collusion between russia and president trump's 2016

campaign. pennsylvania congressman dwight evans used this occasion to celebrate the resistance movement against the trump administration. he urged the crowd to stay involved for the long haul. and protesters also rallied in washington, d.c. and participants there spelled out investigate trump in front of the washington monument. >> truth, truth, truth, truth. >> thousands participated in the d.c. march waving flags and protesting with signs. representatives in attendance called for an investigation to "protect democracy." in attendance say without action government for and by the people is in danger. and crowds also gathered in new york demonstrators held signs and chanted as they walked through the streets of manhattan today. also seven people meantime were killed in explosions at a funeral in kabul, afghanistan. 119 people were wounded. mourners were saying goodbye to the son of a politician. he was killed during a protest

on friday. afghanistan's president condemned the attack saying the country is under attack and must be strong and united. in statement the taliban denied any involvement in this. and now we are getting a first look now at security video showing the attack on a casino in the philippines. it shows a gunman storming into the resort world manila complex friday and using gasoline to torch gambling tables. the fire caused clouds of smoke that killed 37 people from smoke inhalation. authorities say the gunman ran to an adjoining hotel and killed himself. also outside that casino people are lighting candles and lying flowers at a makeshift memorial of the victims of the attack. the gunman behind this attack has still not been identified. stay with us. still ahead on "eyewitness news," preparations are currently under way for a manchester bombing benefit in the uk. as the stages are being built

the official cause was suicide by hanging. ariana grande has made a surprise visit to her young fans injured in the manchester arena bombing. the attack at grande's concert last week killed 22 people and injured dozens of others many were teens. grande visited royal manchester children's hospital just ahead of the benefit concert that she's hosting there this weekend. preparations are under way now for the one love manchester concert to be held at the emirates old cricket ground tomorrow night. the all-star benefit concert will take place almost two weeks now after the suicide bomber attacked grande's first concert. ticket sales will benefit the british red cross society for its manchester emergency fund. it's supporting the victims of the manchester bombing. as you can imagine security for the benefit concert will be extremely tight. arrests in connection to the attack continued when police took a 24-year-old man into custody and also confiscated

his vehicle. the man was the 17th person detained in connection with the may 22nd attack. those preparing to attend tomorrow night's event say right now they feel safe thanks to all those officers. >> when you see the police presence, then it's our safety that -- it can only be a good thing. >> yeah, feel really safe. don't feel frightened at all. >> justin bieber robby williams little mick and also katy perry expected to perform at the benefit concert tomorrow night. chelsea is back to give us an update on our forecast. so beautiful today. it was a slow walk in. >> you got the low humidity, it's really a great evening to be outside. we did have a couple showers you had to dodge if you were out and about earlier this morning but that didn't stop a lot of people from getting outside and enjoying the weather. take a look at the kutztown area. soccer fields nice and green. i know we had a lot of rain last month but that really did help to green up the fields out there. current temperature right around 73 degrees. we officially made it to 76

today at philadelphia international airport. that is just about 3 degrees below average for this time of year. no complaints here. especially with that low humidity. certainly some atypical weather for june standards. take a look at our temperatures now across the region. we're still checking in at 76 in philadelphia, 75 in allentown. we had 74 in trenton, 75 in atlantic city, we're at 75 in millville and right around 76 degrees currently in wilmington. a look at storm scan3, it is quiet. we are mostly clear and high pressure is in control for now and at least the first part of sunday as well but it is a gorgeous and fantastic evening out there. heading into tomorrow, we're going to be a little bit warmer than today. a lot of spots top out near 80 degrees or in the low 80 like dover forecasting a high of 82. cooler for the beaches, mid 70's even some spots in the lower 70's and cooler of course for the poconos, 62 degrees in mount pocono, 73 allentown, state in 78 in

reading. the risk of thunderstorms. here's how things will be playing out hour by hour. you'll start off with plenty of sunshine, clouds fill in. we'll eventually make it up to around 80 degrees but by tomorrow evening and tomorrow night that's when we'll see that risk for a shower or thunderstorm returning. so here's a check at our future weather. again things quiet overnight. heading into tomorrow, plenty of sunshine to start the day. but watch how the clouds start to move in as we head into the afternoon. a couple showers pushing in for mount pocono, allentown after about 5, 6 o'clock in the evening. here we are at 8:00 p.m. on sunday, a couple showers even skirting into philadelphia, trenton, new york city and then we'll have the risk for even more shower action as we start out the work week so monday and even tuesday looking a little damp so if you didn't get the chance to light up the grille today, have the barbecue tomorrow, it looks okay right now. we're looking at a temperature right around 78 degrees as we

head into tomorrow evening, probably around 6:00 p.m. or so. we'll be mostly cloudy so a lot more clouds tomorrow evening and then that shower opportunity especially from philadelphia and areas north. if you're going to be grilling out, though, say in northern delaware you should be just fine for a barbecue tomorrow evening. mostly clear and cool, we'll drop down to about 57 degrees and as we head into sunday look for increasing clouds and then we'll have that risk for a shower or a thunderstorm around but we should top out right around 80 degrees right here in philadelphia. we'll top out around 80 degrees on monday as well, but monday's going to be one of those days where you just have to have the rain gear and umbrella pretty much all day. we'll have the risk for showers and possibly even some showers and thunderstorms as we head into the afternoon and evening. showers around tuesday and look how we turn cooler. this is what i told you was going to be happening. cooler air moving in. 73 on tuesday, 70 wednesday but eventually by next weekend we'll be making it back up into the 80's.

season workout on monday. coordinator frank wright will be talking to the media, i'm sure he'll be answering questions about the development of carson wentz. last season the birds had the 11th ranked rushing offense in the league and in the draft they selected darnell humphrey. he's the all time ncaa rushing leader. humphrey has been through a couple weeks of practice and was asked was the difference is at the pro levelly. >> the playbook but obviously the game, i mean, the line backers, they're running fast, just like i run fast so i mean it's really just about knowing your craft and being able do different things. >> well, the union looking to start a new winning streak. the union had their four game winning streak snapped last week in utah. union with the ball on the attack. the pass, he makes a move that's going to find the back of the net and the the union have the lead. to the 85th minute of the game, they are tied. new york with a corner kick.

there is a need for animal foster families in san jose. to spread the word cocoa the gorilla is lending a hand. let's introduce you to cocoa. he's helping to foster some kittens at san jose's animal care center. it's all part of a campaign to get more people to foster. cocoa was born at the san francisco zoo and the gorilla is famous tour using sign language to communicate with humans. very nice. very caring of cocoa. and this little guy was actually sawed to safety. two off duty state troopers were doing work in a cemetery in salem kentucky when they heard barking. they investigated found this cute little guy sticking out of a tree. rocco the dog he was stuck so tightly the fire department had to come in and help. in case you're wondering how rocco ended up inside the tree apparently he crawled in through a ground hog hole but it was just meant for the ground hog. little rocco is too big. >> just for the ground hogs rocco. >> that's "eyewitness news."
