>> london attacked. more terror in the uk less than two weeks after the bombing in manchester. we have the latest from london bridge and a market nearby. also a toddler in delaware county is shot and killed. what grieving family members are telling us about the terrible tragedy as they work to try to find out exactly how it happened. we do continue to follow breaking news out of london tonight first though. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. a violent and chaotic night played out in the central part of the city there. police just announced six people were killed and officers shot and killed three attackers. witnesses say a van fluid a number of people at the iconic london bridge. this was the scene at the nearby borough market area.

>> get back and keep moving. >> police say multiple people were stabbed by a man witnesses say had a massive knife. the latest from wendy gillette in new york. >> reporter: heavily armed police went block by block clearing streets nearly an hour after witnesses say a white van jumped a curb and slammed into pedestrians from london bridge. >> two armed get back, get back. >> reporter: overs led dozens of people away from the area with their hands in the air. police are also investigate, stabbings at nearby borough market. a popular tourist attraction lined with restaurants and pubs. >> i saw saw loads of people running away. >> this picture shows what's believed to be two suspects on the ground, one appears to have canisters strapped to his belt.

authorities say both attacks were acts of terror. social medial exploded with eyewitness accounts from that london bridge an video posted on twitter police are heard telling people in a nearby bar tour get down. another video shows police evacuating london bridge station a police also used a do you believe decker bus to block access to the popular british landmark. the incident comes nearly two weeks after 22 people were killed at an ariana grande concert in manchester. and more than two months after a vehicle slammed into a crowd of people on westminster bridge. four people were killed in that attack and dozens more injured. police believe both incidents were terror related. wendy gillette for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, the philadelphia police department is also on alert tonight. they issued the following statement about the terror in london saying "we are continuing to monitor the situation in london as always we will collaborate with our local, state and federal partners to ensure the safety

our citizens. once again, here is what we know about the terror in london tonight. we know that six people are dead from the attacks and three attackers were shot and killed by police. we also know a van plowed into pedestrians walking on london bridge just after 10:00 p.m. local time. that van was headed toward london station. we also know that a man with a large knife entered a restaurant at a nearby borough market just south of the bridge stabbing two people inside. a third incident also on the south side cephalon done is not connected at all to the bridge or the market attack. of course we're continuing to follow the very latest developments out of lo and done. remember when we're not on the air you can get the latest information on our web site cbsphilly.com. here locally a tragic day in delaware county. a local boy is dead after police say he got ahold of a gun inside the house. the investigation into how the three-year-old child got ahold of a 9-millimeter gun. dozens of his family members were outside of his home devastated and in shock over the toddler's death. a delaware county community rocked as a medical examiner removed the body of a three-year-old boy from his home. >> my dog woke me up. when i came outside the stretcher was in my brief way eight. steven potts the next door neighbor of the child who died adolf adams the grandfather. >> he was a baby. he had so much fourth. i don't know, man, it's no words. the great grandfather struggling to find the words to express the pain everyone here is feeling. >> i'm just blown away. i can't say anything. i'm not sure what happened here but i mean i know he's gone. >> reporter: police say they were called to the home at the corner of bethel road and green street in chester township at around 3:30 in the afternoon. the mother of the three-year-old told them her son got ahold of the

9-millimeter gun that was in the second floor of the bedroom of the home and while the little boy had the gun it went off. he shot himself once in the chest. emergency responders tried to revive the toddler but ultimately pronounced him dead at the scene. >> it's terrible. truly terrible that a situation like this could h from what i'm being told the gun was under the bed and i can't believe that a child would be able to gain accesss to a gun under a bed. >> reporter: and police tell me at this point in the investigation they are trying to determine if the 9-millimeter gun was in a lockbox or not and if it was, how the child was still able to get into that box. authorities still searching for those answers tonight. it is the focus of this investigation into the toddler's death. reporting live in the sat center alycia nieves cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> the suspect wanted in connection with the stabbing of philadelphia city councilman david oh turned himself into police today. this comes as councilman oh gets back to work after at failed robbery attempt. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan has more.

>> i feel good. i feel good. >> reporter: philadelphia councilman david oh is about as upbeat as you can expect from a person who was the victim of a stabbing during a robbery attempt in west philadelphia. friday night police issued a warrant for a suspected attacker, 24-year-old sean yarbray. after police unsuccessfully searched his home, yarbray turned himself in saturday morning. >> i'm glad he turned himself in because that means nobody got hurt. and that he's cooperating. >> reporter: oh says before being stabbed he got a good look at his attacker and has little doubt police have the right man. >> the police drove me around pointing out different people and i was happy to say that's not him, that's not him, that's not him. but when i saw this photograph, i said, that's him. many philadelphians look at his attack as proof that the city has a oh showed up to work two days after being stabbed saying he wants to get back to work addressing those issues.

>> i love you so many. >> reporter: neighbor stephanie dixon was glad to learn of the arrest and even happier zero was all right. >> and he supports us in the neighborhood. he's from the neighborhood and -- >> reporter: that means a lot to you, doesn't it. >> y-it does, yes, it does. >> reporter: why. >> because you don't find too many people or politicians that support you like that. and he's one of them. he's rare. >> reporter: councilman says he's no trouble picking him out in a lineup. in west philadelphia cleve bryan cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> an suv struck and killed a woman in marple township delaware county this morning. it happened on the 300 block of sussex boulevard around 6:15. authorities say at woman was crossing the road near central boulevard when she was hit by the vehicle. her name hasn't been released just yet but the driver did remain at the scene and is cooperating with the police investigation. also firefighters battled a house fire in upper providence montgomery county at about 9 o'clock this morning.

this is an aerial view of the fire fight on the 600 block sixth avenue. one person was injured. the cause of the blaze remains under investigation. and some big hollywood names are helping the philadelphia film industry fight to keep making movies and tv shows right here in the city. the greater philadelphia film office hosted a rally at the rocky steps today. they're asking the pennsylvania legislature to increase the amount of money for film making tax credits in the commonwealth. the current cap is $60 million. and once that's gone, productions look at other states with better incentives. our own ukee washington spoke with director m. night shyamalan at the rally. >> people love shooting here, making movies here. we would probably turn into the biggest film and tv industry in the country. i believe that. if we would become that. >> well, critics say pennsylvania system facing --

is facing a 1 billion-dollar tax deficit and the tax credit is wasteful. many people held signs on the ben franklin parkway calling for an independent investigation into alleged collusion between russia and president trump's presidential campaign. dwight evans urged the crowd to stay involved for the long haul. also protesters rallied in washington, d.c. today. participants spelled out investigate trump in front of the and washington monument. >> truth, truth, truth, truth, truth. >> thousands participated in the d.c. march waving flags protesting with their signs. representatives in attendance called into an investigation to protect democracy. many in attendance say without action government for and by the people is in danger. crowds gathered in new york city as well.

demonstrators held signs and chanted as they walked through the streets of manhattan. meanwhile the trump administration is clarifying the president's views on climate change as he faces tough questions about the decision to pull out of the paris climate agreement. the un ambassador nikki haley says the president believes in climate change. haley clarified the president's opinion in an interview that will air sunday on cbs's face the nation. in the past president trump called global warming a hoax. >> he believes the climate is changing and he believers pollutants are part of that equation and i know how -- that he is absolutely intent on making sure that we have clean air, clean water that he makes sure that we're doing everything we can to keep america's moral compass in the world when it comes to the environment. >> well, you can watch face the nation tomorrow morning at 10:30 right here on cbs3. stay with us everyone. still ahead on "eyewitness news" tonight preparations are currently under way for a manchester benefit concert in the uk as the stages are being built, headliner and organizer

>> greg all man was laid to rest today in macon georgia. he'll be buried next to his brother and band mate at rosehill cemetery. allman's funeral shut down parts of the roads. stretch limousines pulled into the service. a procession through the streets of macon took allman to the cemetery. ariana grande made a surprise visit to young fans. the attack at grande's concert nearly two weeks ago killed 22 people injured dozens more. many of them teenagers. grande visited royal manchester children's hospital ahead of the benefit concert that she's hosting there this weekend. preparations are under way for the one love manchester concert to be held at the emirates old trapper cricket ground tomorrow night much the all-star benefit concert will take place almost two weeks to the day after the suicide bomber attacked grande's concert. ticket sales will benefit the

british red cross society for its manchester emergency fund supporting on theing the victims of the manchester bombing. security for that benefit concert will be extremely tight. arrests in connection to the attack continued as recently as yesterday when police investigating the bombing took a 24-year-old man into custody and confiscated his vehicle. the man was the 17th person detained in connection with the may 22nd attack. those prepare to attend tomorrow night's event say they feel safe thanks to the police presence. >> see the police presence. it's our safety, it can only be a good thing. >> yeah, feel really safe don't feel frightened at all. >> justin bieber as well as robby williams little mix and katy perry are expected to perform at the benefit concert scheduled for tomorrow night. hundreds of folks turned out for a celebration of cancer survivors. more than 300 people gathered for a colorful tea at eynon

tabernacle baptist church. this is its third year the church has honored cancer survivors while remembering those who lost their battle with the deadly disease. an array of colors adorned the room each representing various forms of cancer. i had the pleasure of emceeing the event this year. every two year the cancer ministry hosts this colorful and inspiring event. great day out there, beautiful day outside and inside. >> you could have used the hat to provide you with some shade but it was a gorgeous afternoon. we did start out, some people if you were out and about earlier today you had to dodge a shower or two but now take a live look at the city. i mean, it is gorgeous out there this evening. it's starting to turn a little bit cool thanks to high pressure and clear skies and calm winds and that's going to be the case as we had had into the overnight hours tonight. man, was it a gorgeous evening to dine alfresco. just enjoy the outdoors. we had an official high

temperature today of 76 degrees at philadelphia international airport. that is just 3 degrees below average for this time of year and the humidity was low. certainly atypical for this time in june but no complaints here and i don't think i've heard many complaints from hardly anyone about the weather this afternoon. take a look at our temperatures right now across the region. we're in the 40's, 50's and 60's at this hour. in mount pocono we've already dropped down to around 47 degrees. it is 62 in allentown, 65 in philadelphia. we're at 53 in millville. 63 in wilmington. we have school degrees in atlantic city and 60 degrees at this hour in wildwood. here's a live look at storm scan3. not a thing going on. all thanks to high pressure. we're dealing with clear skies, those calm winds and that is what's going to allow our overnight low temperatures to drop down into the 50's right here in the city. tomorrow will be a little bit warmer compared to today. you can look for highs generally in the 70's to right around 80 degrees. we're forecasting yes 80s in

philadelphia. 78 in trenton, 76 allentown, 63, that's the forecast high temperature for mount pocono. so, a little bit warmer as we head into tomorrow. but here's the big difference. 22 see an increase in cloud cover today. we saw a decrease in cloud cover but that's changing tomorrow. by the afternoon around noon you'll start to notice plenty of clouds across the sky really thickening up leading into the after afternoon and evening time that's when our risk for a shower or a thunderstorm is going to be on the rise. so, let's take a look now at our future weather again things quiet all the way through the overnight hours and even to start out the day on sunday. plenty of sunshine if you're waking up early enough like 7:00 a.m. but look at the clouds start to fill in. here we are at lunchtime a couple showers starting to make their way toward mount pocono but overall the majority of the rain is going to end up staying to the north for the majority of the day. however o-we'll start to see a couple of these showers making their way right into the city,

places like trenton as we head into tomorrow evening and tomorrow night and then we'll have the risk for more showers as we head into your monday and perhaps even a thunderstorm. here's your jersey shore forecast. increasing clouds tomorrow. temperatures in the low and mid 70's generally down the shore. and we will have that risk but i don't think until probably tomorrow evening for a shower or a storm to move on through that region. here's your forecast for tonight. mostly clear cool and comfy. open up the windows, let in fresh air. tonight is a perfect night to do that. overnight low temperature around 57 degrees here in philadelphia. by tomorrow, 80 degrees increasing clouds. we'll also have that risk especially for areas to our north for a shower or thunderstorm as we head into the evening hours. here's your eyewitness weather seven-day forecast t it goes like this. 80 degrees as we head into monday, that's the day when you'll have to have the rain gear with you because we'll have some showers an couple thunderstorms possible. 73 as we head into tuesday. look at that cooldown i told you that was going to be heading our way. by wednesday we're only at 70 degrees, that is well below

season work outmonday. offensive coordinator frank wright will be talking to the media and i'm sure answering questions about the development of carson wentz. last season the birds had the 11th ranked rushing offense in the league and in the draft they selected donell pumphrey from san diego state. he's the all time ncaa rushing leader. pumphrey has been through a couple weeks of practice now and was asked what he thinks the difference is at the pro level. >> the line backers are running fast just like i run fast. it's really just about knowing your craft and being able to do different things. >> the union looking to start a nguyening streak when they took on new york city fc at yankee stadium. no score in the 69th minute union on the attack sapong makes the move and they find the back of the net. in the 85th minute game tied up new york with the corner kick, the ball goes inside the

a chicago chef heads up a special program at the cook county jail in chicago. he's actually teaching inmates how to cook and it's all for a great cause. the recipe for change program for the inmates was designed by chef bruno abate. he hopes the three month program will give those incarcerated dignity and the opportunity as well as teach lessons in the art of quality cooking. >> god has a big pot up there and so it just come from my heart. it made me better person. every day i become a better person, every day. >> well, thousands submit letters to take part in recipe for change but only 20 or 30 get the actual chance to take part in the event. we'll be right back. >>
